The bell rang and everyone was storming out to get ready for our district championship game. All the cheerleaders looked absolutely cute in their red and blue uniform. Some even displaying a fiery red hue in their aura's. I couldn't help but feel so happy for all of them.
I picked up my things and walked out of my last class. My eyes wandering around in the now newly decorated halls. Read, white, and pink hearts all around the ceilings and locker rooms.
The student council really does make amazing decorations scenes. Back in homecoming the halls were filled with carny themed decorations. Popcorn machines were at the end of every hall way. There was a time where you can see the excitement of everyone through the lights and halls.
Sometimes I do think Gen's right. I'm such a girl. I am easily impressed and entertained by the simplicity of life.
"Um Rogue right?" I turn around to see this gorgeous blonde hair beauty looking at me with her big blue eyes. At first I didn't say anything because I'm shocked to see one of the Mu Delta Chi dancers right in front of me.
"Yes?" I chirped. The corner of her rosy red lips turned up and she smiled at me.
"Thank goodness I got your name right. You see I've been meaning to find Gen and well rumors say that it's better to get in contact with him through you." Her smile was bright and right along her silhouette you could see the light tint of pink.
Usually that meant the development of a crush. At first I was shocked because well she wasn't the first one to come up to me for Gen's sake. The problem was, he absolutely didn't listen to a word I say when it comes to the girl department.
"Uh, yeah about that talking to me isn't going to work." I said waiving my one hand at her. Trying my best not to blush when he looked at her. She was just so pretty like one of those Hollywood young actresses.
"What do you mean? Aren't you all besties?" Her blue crystal eyes looked at me confused.
"Yes, no yes we are best friends but he doesn't listen to me." I tried explaining it. But suddenly I feel a too familiar arm around my shoulders and somehow my body was perfectly pressed against Gen's body.
"Yeah talking to this booknerd isn't going to help you with me, Lucy." The girl suddenly blushed bright red almost as much as me and tried to clear her voice.
"Oh I was just wondering if she'd like to come to today's victory party." She said trying to not sound that flustered but as I looked up to see Gen's jaw clench. Something told me he wasn't really believing what she was saying.
"But we haven't won yet." I merped out of nowhere. So now both their eyes were looking down on me. Gen giving me his signature cocky grin pinched my nose lightly.
"Don't start with that, do you honestly doubt how awesome this team is with me." Just like that Lucy wasn't part of our little personal bubble as I fixed my glasses and smiled.
"No, but I do think it's too presumptuous to claim victory when it's not in your hands."
"You have to already imagine what you want is in your hands. Or else you'll lose it." He raised his hand looking at an imaginary ball that he was holding. As I gazed up at him I couldn't help but see just a small flicker of red surround him. I thought it was odd because for as long as I've known him. I have never seen his red at all. I've seen him back when his aura was black as coal and then it was gone. But that was it.
"So both of you are coming?" Lucy's voice suddenly cut in my train of thinking and all I could do was nod.
"I want to go." I looked over at Gen and he just rolled his eyes.
"Fine, we'll be there but this doesn't mean anything between us got it." Gen was awfully cold toward her but with his arm still wrapped around my shoulders. He steered me away from the dancer and down the hall towards the gym.
We didn't say anything towards one another and I had a feeling that there was something he wasn't telling me. Walking towards the gym I could hear the sound of the speakers over at the football field being echoed and run through. But all of a sudden my gaze had caught a pair of blue eyes at the end of the hallway.
All of a sudden there was this brief pause in time. As my gaze zoomed out from the pair of azure eyes. The grin and the simple faint smirk were making me feel this sudden sense of déjà vu. As the silhouette leaned in against the wall a voice began to whisper in the back of my mind.
Don't forget me.
"Rogue!" Gen calls out and all of a sudden I trip out of nowhere. My body was fallen face flat towards the floor. But for some reason, the fall wasn't that fast. Time was still slowing down as the guy at the end of the hallway began to walk towards me in a normal space.
Just as he appeared he disappeared half way, but only to reappear right in front of me. Crouched down to my eye level, still falling, his face much clearer now. He was handsome but there was still this ominous air about him.
I'm here. Remember.
Just like that time had begun again and Gen's arms were around my waist preventing me from completely falling down.
"What the hell Rogue, there was literally nothing for you to trip on." He hissed as he helped me back on my feet. My jaw was literally opened as I started to look everywhere. Where was that guy? He was just here a few moments ago!
"You didn't see him?" Breathlessly I asked as I pushed him away for a bit. What did that guy mean if I remember? Remember what? I had never seen that guy in my entire life. And yet those haunting pale blue irises were very familiar.
"Please don't tell me you've decided to experiment with drugs?"
I shot him a glare and just shook my head, reluctantly letting myself think that it was nothing.
"So tell me, what did you meant back there with Lucy?" My question was asked simply because I was both curious and the topic needed to be changed. I knew that if I had waited a second longer Gen would've continued on and making fun of how I would get high.
Except, he just rolled his eyes and cussed under his breath. "Let's just say that she's been trying to hit on me ever since she found out that I'm well packed."
Then it was utter silence before he looked at me. I wasn't reacting at all with what he said, mainly because I had no idea what he was saying. So when I did my confused head tilt to my left he just smiled and reached over to cup my face.
"Sorry I forgot you're oblivious with locker room conversations. She heard rumors on how well endowed I am in the downstairs department. And since I haven't had a girlfriend since..." He didn't finish his sentence. I knew how long he had been single for.
"So why don't you try it with her, I can tell she does have a crush on you." I said trying to be his little love cheerleader on the sidelines but now it was his turn to shoot me a glare.
"No." That was the end of the conversation, but to me it wasn't. Gen was my best friend in the whole entire world. And as we walked out of the school and headed straight to the locker rooms. I couldn't help but let my mind wander. It's nice and sweet to see cute couples all around and he has already waited a decent amount of time after his last girlfriend.
"No I don't buy this. It's literally been three years Gen. Don't you think you deserve to know what true love is." I called out to him, when he started to pick up his pace.
Clearly he wasn't having any of that, but I could see the muscles of his back flex, he wasn't liking this conversation at all.
"Maybe you and that girl could hit it off. Or maybe someone in your chem class. Any girl can do really, but don't you think it's time for you to get out there again."
"Says the girl that hasn't taken her nose out of the countless of romance books she reads." He turned around and his eyes were blazing. Why was he always getting so heated at this conversation?
"So what if I believe we all are meant to be with someone. I believe you haven't met your soulmate yet." I glared at him back which he only gave me dark sneer
"Stop trying to act like you're a freaking expert in love Rogue!"
"I'm not acting, I know what real love is." My voice was breaking, I've never heard him this angry.
"Are you listening to yourself? Have you not learned anything for the past years with me." His voice was bitter and all I could do was stand my ground.
"I've learned that sometimes love comes in unexpected ways."
"No Rogue, lust comes in unexpected ways. Don't you remember?" With that there was no words to be said. He looked at me one last time before he turned around and walked away. That hurt... a lot more than I thought it would.
