[(Y/N)'s POV]

I slowly moved through the complex. I held my shotgun at the ready as I turned corners and moved down hallways.

Me: "Scarlet, it's a little too quiet don't you think?"

I spoke to my AI. She appeared on my hud, her image had a red tint. She had long hair that covered one of her eyes.

Scarlet: "Yes. I find it strange we haven't come across a single patrol."

Me: "Think they moved out already?"

Scarlet: "Its highly unlikely, the UNSC would have seen the movement."

I kept moving down hallways, following my waypoints Scarlet set for me. I looked in some of the rooms that split from the hall.

Me: "Scarlet, are your sensors still offline?"

Scarlet: "Yes. I am unable to get any readings from the area."

I sighed.

Me: "It's no use. Get me a line to comma-"

I suddenly heard a strange beeping noise from one of the rooms I was passing. I got closer to the door and my eyes widened as I realized what it was. I kicked open the door to reveal a large bomb, one big enough to level the entire building.

Me: "Shit!"

I started running.

Me: "Scarlet, get me the quickest route out of here, now!"

A waypoint appeared on the wall I was running towards.

Me: "I did say quickest..."

I pulled out my sticky detonator and shot it at the wall. As soon as it stuck to the wall I pulled the trigger, blowing a hole in the wall leading outside. I heard the bomb detonated behind me and dived through the hole and rolled as I hit the ground. As soon as my feet hit the ground I ran further as the building behind me collapsed. I turned around and watched as the building crumbled.

Scarlet: "Multiple enemies closing in from the forest surrounding us. No direct escape route, I suggest you get ready for a fight."

I chuckled.

Me: "Scarlet, darling, you should know by now..."

I grabbed my shotgun in on hand and my magnum in the other.

Me: "I'm always ready for a fight."

I waited until Scarlet marked the first one to come out of the tree line. It was a grunt with a plasma pistol. I charged at it, while dodging each of its shots. I moved effortlessly out of the way of each blast and reached the small alien, I then jumped into the air and slammed my boot into its face, then smashed it into the ground. I ducked as a needle went by my head, it came from a Jackal with a needler. I ran and slid at its feet. I knocked its feet out from under it then, as I passed under it, I shot it with my magnum in the head. I stood up and turned to the next enemy, which to my delight, was a hunter. I smiled under my helmet and put my shotgun on my back. It charged me and tried to smash me with it's shielded arm. I rolled out of the way then turned and ran up the alien's arm. I got to its head and grabbed onto the armor plating on the top of it's head and pulled up. I then put my magnum to its neck and unloaded the clip. It fell backwards and I stepped off of it.

Me: "Now, where's the other-"

I had plenty of time to move to the right as an assault cannon round went pass me. I pulled out my shotgun and ran at the hunter. It raised its arm to smash me, but I was too quick as I slid underneath it and turned. I then quickly shot rounds into the gap between its armor until it went limp and fell over. I sighed in content and slung my shotgun over my shoulder.

Me: "I don't know why, but I love fighting those things."

Scarlet: "One enemy remaining."

I turned to see an elite field marshal walking from the trees, energy sword in hand.

Me: "Is that our target."

Scarlet: "Scanning... yes, that is the target."

I smiled.

Me: "Never did like assassin work, I much prefer a dual."

The elite threw an energy sword at me, which I caught and activated. Elites are known for their honor, so it only makes sense that one would prefer a duel then a brutal battle. We began circling each other, staring at each other and waiting for the right moment. We both suddenly sprinted at each other and began attacking. We parried each other flawlessly, and I dodged his strikes in perfect rhythm. We were almost equals... almost. I ducked under one of his strikes then grabbed onto his arm that held his sword. I then drove my sword into his chest and lifted him off his feet slightly. I then quickly pulled my sword out and let him drop to the ground.

Me: "Scarlet, any life signs?"

Scarlet: "No, subject is confirmed dead."

Me: "Then our jobs done here. Get me a link to our ride."

[Time Skip, On the Pelican]

Pilot: "You serious had a duel with an elite?"

Me: "Yup, that was the most fun I've had in a while."

Pilot: "You Spartans sure are somethin'. Anyway, we'll be at the ship in a few minutes, then I think the captain wanted to see you. Something about another mission."

Me: "Already? Damn, he sure is working me ragged lately."

Pilot: "Well I heard the covenant is getting worse. We're starting to lose ground."

Me: "Oh please, send me out on a real mission. I'll take the whole damn army on myself."

The pilot chuckled.

Pilot: "You Spartans sure are somethin' alright."

Suddenly the pelican started to shake violently.

Me: "What the hells going on?!"

Pilot: "I'm not sure, all systems are fine, everything is green."

Me: "Scarlet, you get anything?!"

Scarlet: "All pelican systems running at 100%, however I'm getting a strange energy reading."

Me: "Where at?"

Scarlet: "All around us."

Suddenly there was a flash of light, which blinded the pilot and I. When I regained sight all I could see was a the surface of a planet coming in quick.

Pilot: "Shit! Engines are failing! Gonna want to hold onto something!"

Me: "Scarlet, lock my armor!"
