Chapter 4: Against Better Judgement

[(Y/N)'s POV, One Week Later]

As I slashed through the last demon, or "Grimm" I sighed. I had finally reached my answer to Lilith, and while I didn't like it, I decided to trust her... for now. I had come to the forest to train and clear my mind.

Lilith: "You certainly know how to put on a show."

I could almost feel her devilish grin as she spoke from behind me.

Me: "Does a lowly demon such as yourself have nothing better to do then watch the slaughter of your own kind?"

Lilith: "I feel offended..."

Lilith circled around me, and faced me.

Lilith: "These creatures aren't even considered demons to us."

Me: "Are they so below higher ranking demons that even their own kind turns them away from the fiery pits of hell?"

Lilith giggled as if expecting me to say this.

Lilith: "Of course not. They simply aren't real demons. They were man made."

Me: "Man made demons... If you know this then you surely know who caused them... and where they are."

Lilith: "I know who made them yes. But I don't know where they reside."

Me: "If so, then I have no need for you demon. The alliance you ask is-"

She put her index finger over my mouth to silence me.

Lilith: "I don't know where they are, but I know who aids them."

She smirked at me with sharp teeth. I looked at her with holy fire in my eyes.

Me: "Out with it she-devil."

Lilith: "No, no, no. We have to make a deal first."

My grip tightened on my sword.

Lilith: "After we save this mortal world, you won't return to the High Heavens only to be a prisoner. You'll stay here, with me."

Me: "What do you have to gain from this?"

Lilith: "I've been so bored with not a soul beside me."

She inched towards me, only to be stopped by the tip of my sword nearly piercing her neck.

Me: "I rather be sent to the void then give you hope of resurrecting the Nephalem."

Lilith: "I said nothing of reviving my children, only of you staying here. Isn't that better then the void?"

Me: "If to spend eternity with a demon, I think not."

Lilith: "If you stay so stubborn minded, you'll never save anyone."

As little as I liked it... the demon was right. She had information I needed, and wouldn't give up without a deal.

Me: "If I simply stay here, once all is said and done, you'll give me the information I seek?"

The demon nodded, all the while holding her usual devilish smirk.

Me: "I agree to your terms then. Tell me who aids them."

Lilith: "Who other then the forces of Hell. Belial, Lord of Lies. And Azmodan, Lord of Sin."

Me: "You speak lies demon. The two lords of Hell you speak of have been no where near Remnant. The Angiris Council would've known. I would've known."

Lilith giggled.

Lilith: "There are many things demons are able to hide from the angel's view. As the Angels focus on their own threat, Baal has been sewing seeds of destruction all across this realm. And Azmodan waits for his call."

Me: "Where can I find the Lord of Lies?"

Lilith: "He hides in plain sight, planing his next move. With the aid of his minions he looks like every other human."

Me: "Out with it demon, where is he?"

Lilith giggled.

Lilith: "So impatient. The Lord of Lies is right here in Vale. As for a certain location, I'm not sure. He moves around quite a bit."

I sighed. It's not a straight forward task, but it's better then where I was. I turned and began to walk back to Beacon.

Lilith: "Where do you think you're going?"

Me: "First Beacon, then to the city to start my search."

Lilith: "I'll join you."

I stopped and looked back at her.

Me: "I neither need nor want your company. Besides your demonic appearance will simply hinder me."

Suddenly her form started to morph, until her horns, tail, and wings were gone. Black hair fell to her mid back, her clothes changed to something more covering, a black and red dress, and on her hands were metallic claws. Her skin was now pale, and her eyes still had a crimson hue comparable to blood.

Lilith: "Like what you see~?"

Me: "Silence she-devil, it will make my search far less irritating."

I began walking back to Beacon, Lilith followed behind.

Lilith: "What did it feel like, to abandon your wings?"

Me: "I said silence."

Lilith: "I imagine it hurt quite a lot. And with them, most of your power was lost."

I stayed silent.

Lilith: "Perhaps I could give you new wings, if you let me."

Me; "I am the Aspect of Justice, I will not let my power be tainted by your corruption."

Lilith: "You aren't the Aspect of Justice anymore. When you removed your wings, you basically gave away your status."

Me: "Whether I be named by the Angiris Council, or myself. I am the Aspect of Justice, I will not stop until evil has been purged from this realm. And I will do so, without the corrupt power you hold."

Lilith giggled and sighed.

Lilith: "You are a strange man. Inarius fell to temptation the moment we first spoke. Yet you still hold such authority over your own being."

Me: "Something in my heart burns. But it is not love nor compassion. It is hate that puts even the flames of hell to shame and it is only for the demons."

Lilith: "You haven't the slightest bit of compassion in your body, do you?"

Me: "Only for the righteous. Only for the innocent."

Lilith giggled.

Lilith: "Such a lost little angel without his wings. Having to rely on-"

I spun on my heel and brought my sword to her neck.

Me: "Silence demon, less I cleave your head from your body."

Holy fire burned in my eyes as I stared at the demon with anger in my heart. White trails of fire came from my eyes as I felt my more angelic traits show, solid white eyes that look to be made of a shining light.

Me: "I may not have wings but I am still strong enough to kill you if I must."

The demon smirked at me and narrowed her eyes.

Lilith: "You are indeed a stubborn one... interesting."
