Chapter 2: Mortal or Angel?
[Ruby's POV]
My team, Ozpin, and I stood in the hospital room at Beacon, where we had taken the man. The doctors tried everything to get his armor off but it wouldn't budge. And no one could pry his sword from his grip. On the bright side his wounds were healing rather quickly, he must have a strong aura. Although it was strange how we couldn't see his face, no matter what angle you looked at him from it's as if his face was covered by shadows. Since none of his armor, or even his hood, would move we can't even tell what he looks like. Suddenly the man started moving. He simply sat up, showing no sign of pain.
Man: "I thank you for looking after me as I regained my strength, mortals."
He stood from the cot he was on and faced us.
(Y/N): "Forgive me for my rudeness, I am (Y/N) archangel of justice."
Once more, his voice had authority and pride laced in it.
Me: "I-I'm-"
[(Y/N)'s POV]
Me: "Ruby Rose. Daughter of Summer Rose and Taiyang Xiao Long."
I looked to the girl with white hair standing beside her.
Me: "Weiss Schnee. Heiress to the Schnee family on this mortal plain."
I then turned to the blonde.
Me: "Yang Xiao Long. Daughter of Raven Branwen and Taiyang Xiao Long."
Then to the girl with black hair.
Me: "Blake Belladonna. Daughter of Ghira and Kali Belladonna."
And finally to the man behind them.
Me: "And Ozpin. Headmaster of an academy known as Beacon."
Ruby: "H-How did you...?"
Me: "As I said, I am the archangel of justice. It is my only purpose to give judgement to each living creature. It is only natural that I should know those who I must judge."
Yang: "An archangel... like from heaven?"
Me: "Yes. The High Heavens."
Weiss: "So.. you fell... from heaven?"
Me: "Correct."
Weiss: "Why?"
Me: "I've abandoned my wings. If an angel loses their wings, they are cast out from Heaven, and sent to the mortal world."
Blake: "Why would you abandon your wings?"
Me: "There is a great danger rising in Remnant, the Angiris Council refuses to act. But I could not stand idly by and watch the death of many innocent lives."
Ozpin: "And you know this danger is for certain?"
Me: "It is written in the books of fate. Without action, your world will crumble."
Ruby: "What should we do...?"
Me: "I must find the one responsible, and bring judgement down upon them. I will be doing this alone. I cannot involve mortal lives in my quest."
Yang: "But why?"
Me: "You will surely be harmed. I have seen you're fate. Each of you. And they do not end well. For your own safety, you should stay away from this."
Yang: "Ain't happening tough guy."
This caught me a little off guard. A mortal talking to an angel in such a way, it nearly brought a smile to my face.
Yang: "If the worlds in trouble, I'm not sitting around."
Ruby: "Yeah!... I-I mean... I agree with Yang..."
Weiss: "I agree. I refuse to just watch this happen."
Blake: "And we are a team... so either way we're in this together."
I was silent for a few moments. I then started to laugh. I couldn't help it.
Me: "This is why I love mortals. They have so much heart that they can stand up to the aspect of justice. I admire your commitment and bravery. Therefore, I shall allow you to aid me in this journey."
I then pulled off my hood, revealing my (H/L) (H/C) hair and (E/C) eyes.
Me: "Now, what do you five know of a woman named Salem."
The four girls looked confused, while Ozpin seemed stunned.
Me: "I assume you know, Ozpin?"
He nodded slowly.
Me: "Tell me everything you know about her."
[Time Skip, A Few Hours]
I stood on the roof of the dorm building, looking up at the shattered moon. Ozpin told me he knew only the woman's name, not her location, allies, or objectives. However I have a feeling he's hiding something important. Being on the mortal plain means I no longer know what will happen next, without the libraries of fate I can't simply gaze into the future.
Me: 'So. Exiled from heaven, sent to walk this world as a mortal, all for the chance to save lives. I only wonder what happened to Angiris Council to make them so stone hearted towards humanity.'
Ruby: "U-Uh... excuse me... (Y/N)?"
I was pulled from my thoughts when the small girl called from behind me.
Me: "Yes, Ms. Rose?"
Ruby: "We were going to get dinner... did you want to come with?"
Me: "I thank you for the gesture, but I do not require food."
Ruby: "Oh. Okay. I guess it's an angel thing?"
I chuckled.
Me: "Yes, it is 'an angel thing.' Please, go without me."
She then left.
Me: "Humans certainly are interesting."
