Prologue

The bite of cold frost woke me from my sleep.
Or, rather, unconsciousness.

I was in a crater, about the size of a bedroom, lying down. Exhausted from my recent battle with a Taijitu in the forest of Forever Fall. A sea of red vegetation, always in this state of hibernation.

I was cast out from the village, deep within the forest, and was making my way towards the nearest city. The city of Vale. Roughly two hours away from the village, that is, until I encountered opposition.

Pulling myself together and getting up, I groaned as my bones cracked and made popping noises and the bruises becoming more evident.

These Grimm are a bother. Why do they even exist? I thought.

The creatures of Grimm. A dark force, that has been around since the dawn of mankind, with no other purpose than to destroy all life.

These were just one of the many problems the people of Remnant faced on a daily basis. I'm looking to change that.

After being cast out, I found no reason to stay in our little village. The place was falling apart anyway. More and more Grimm keep invading, pushing us away from the rest of civilization.

It will only be a matter of time before our oasis in a desert of danger is destroyed.

I'm taking my chances and enrolling in one of the Huntsmen academies to sharpen my skills and strategies in the hopes that I will be able to prevent the rest of the world from falling into darkness.

But, there's only son much one person can do.

Making the way to Vale was a breeze. Especially with my increased metabolism, I don't have to worry about fighting the Grimm, I simply shoot past them. There were a few here and there that I had to stop and fight, but nothing more.

One problem though, once I got to the edge of the Emerald Forest, I was spent. I needed to sit down and recover from the half-hour total of the flight from here to that crater, not to mention the beating I took from that Taijitu.

As I was thinking whilst recovering, I heard the crunching of fallen leaves, someone or something was very quickly making its way towards my general position.

The sounds were approaching, I was beginning to change my mindset from recovery to combat. Jumping to my feet, I drew my weapon, Gamma, from its sheath on my back.

The weapon was in its short-sword form to increase mobility and take up less space for traveling.

I couldn't afford to use its secondary abilities, an extension of aura that surrounds the blade, making it sharper and more resilient.

I barely had any time to recover and I was not in the best condition for a fight.

A dark figure appeared in the distance. Honestly, when it's night and you're in a forest, a dark figure or shadow can be anything.

I held a fighting stance, waiting for whatever it was to get close enough to be determined friend or foe.

About a hundred fifty to two hundred meters away, I could distinguish the sound.

Footsteps!

It was a person. However relieved I was at this, I couldn't let my guard down. There is an equally dangerous force, running unchecked through the world.

A criminal organization called 'The White Fang'. A group mainly consisting of Fauna. A race that is mistreated by Humans because they are wrongly considered as being 'lesser' or 'inferior'.

I say wrongly because I too am a Fauna. But, I don't particularly agree with what the White Fang are doing to gain respect. They do it through fear and violence. Not an idea I'm willing to get behind.

They attack Human and Fauna alike, which is why I'm not about to just let whoever this is walk up to me.

One hundred meters. Seventy five. Fifty. Twenty.

I was seriously ready to fight. I've had a long night and my judgement is a bit cloudy, but I can hold back until I find out the truth.

The figure stopped in the shadow of the trees and walked slowly towards me, most likely noticing the black and blue blade I was holding.

"Come on out!" I yelled.

The figure emerged from the shadows.

It was a girl. I'd say about my age. She too carried a blade. This concerned me.

"Look, I don't want any trouble. I only want to get to Vale." I said, continuing to hold my stance.

"Don't worry. You won't get any trouble with me." She said.

If there's one thing I know, you don't trust anyone you come across in the middle of a forest.

"Who are you?" I asked her.

"Blake."

Hello readers!

I just want to give credit to my best friend Gabe for the actual story.

I just wanted to rewrite it with my own twists and such.

He came up with the original plot.

Read the original on his profile.
