The three of you walked throughout the city, and all of your stomachs were growling, but you did the best you could to ignore the sound. Complaining about it wasn't going to do anything, since you had all eaten the last of the food a little bit back. On top of the growing hunger in your stomach was the pain in your feet. All of your shoes had withered away a long time ago, and you were forced to walk for miles per day. You ignored the blood dripping from your feet the best you could. No matter how much pain you may have been in, you knew the consequences of stopping.

" I'm tired," says Nora. " Is there any chance we can stop soon," she asks, facing Ren, who became the leader of your group due to his ability to make choices faster than either you or Nora, and was able to keep a calm head, even in the worst circumstances.

" I'm sorry, but no. We're too close to the forest for comfort," he explains. " I don't want us to stop here and then be attacked the Grimm. If we keep going, we can make it into the next town tonight." Nora looks a little bit dejected when he says this, but nods anyways. She tries to take a step, and then she practically falls over.

Reaching, you catch her and then prop her on your back. " Thanks (y/n)," she mutters to you sleepily, and you nod and begin to carry her on your back. Eventually, the three of you manage to make it to a small town, and find a place relatively out of sight. Setting Nora down, she kisses your cheek which makes you blush, and then touch where her lips touched your cheek. " I'll carry you next time when you get tired," she promises.

You and Nora sit around Ren as he tries to make a fire, and then her eyes widen when he manages to make a small one. " You're so cool Ren," says Nora, and then she tackles him into a hug, and kisses his cheek. For some reason, a small pang of jealousy runs through you when she does this.

That night, you take first watch, and then you sit watching the night, and then you remember so you shook Nora awake. She looks at you tiredly, and then you fumble around in the ratty bag you have, and then pull out a sloth stuffed animal you found awhile back. " I know it isn't much, but I know your birthday was a few days ago," you tell her. " I wanted to give you this."

Her eyes widen when she sees this, and then she hugs you. " Thanks so much," she says. " I love it. I'm gonna name it '(y/n) Jr.'" You laugh when she says this, and then she gets to sleep easily as she holds onto the sloth stuffed animal. Seeing her like this makes you smile, and then you promise yourself you're going to do whatever you can to make her that happy in the future.

-Timeskip your pov-

The years pass, and all of you are walking down to another town. Only a few more to go before you make it to the real destination all of you have been after for some time: Beacon Academy. If you can make it there, then everything else that's happened over the past few years is going to be worth it. If the three of you can become huntsman, than maybe you would be able to make sure that no one ended up like you had.

As you thought this, Nora began to poke your cheek, and so you turned to see her, and she offered you a really big smile. You returned it, and then she handed you a pancake, which had quickly become both your favorite food, as well as hers. It was one of the only things the three of you could make, and it became a staple to all of you. Taking the pancake, you began to eat it as the two of you talked about what weapons you wanted when you got to be huntsman.

That night, the three of you set up the tent, and then Ren built a fire. You again offered for first watch, and then to your surprise, Nora said she was going to stay up with you. You would never protest something like that however, since any time you spent with Nora was amazing, especially when it was just the two of you. She took a spot next to you, her sloth stuffed animal in her arms, and a big smile on her face as she looks up to see the stars, which shine brighter than ever tonight.

The two of you begin to play your old game of making up constellations, and it goes until she turns to you, looking like she just remembered something. " Oh, I have a secret I wanted to tell you," she says, and then she gestures for you to come closer. When you do, she then leans into whisper in your ear. " I have a crush on Ren."

She says this, and then you deflate, however you see the expecting look on her face, and so you do the best you can to perk up and talk with her the best you can, as she tells you everything she likes about Ren. You just nod the entire time, not wanting to risk ruining the friendship you have with her. Eventually, Ren begins to wake up, and so the two of you head back into the tent. You make sure she falls asleep first, before you curl up into a ball.

When she mentioned liking Ren, everything hurt all of a sudden, like you were cold, but the cold wasn't on the outside. Some part of you had suspected that she liked Ren, but you did your best to silence those doubts, considering your own feelings for the girl had been growing lately. As you glanced over, you couldn't help but cry a little bit when you see her cuddling the polar bear stuffed animal Ren gave her.

The next morning, the three of you break down your tent, and then begin getting ready to make one final push to get to Beacon Academy. But first, you need to eat breakfast, and so you offer to make pancakes, but Nora chimes in. " Actually can Ren make them? His pancakes are the best!" The same cold feeling runs through your body, and then you sadly eat the pancakes Ren makes.

-Timeskip Nora Pov-

I sit in the room with Jaune, Phyrra, Ren and (y/n). My team and I begin unpacking our things, and then (y/n) is just with us to help. Unfortunately, he was put on a different team than us, which is a little bit sad. I would have loved if both he and Ren could have been on my team, since the three of us knew each other really well. But, I had briefly met his team, and they seemed nice, and like they could be good friends to him, like I hoped to be with Phyrra and Jaune. Still, how cool would that be, to have my boyfriend and best friend on the same team.

The night before initiation, Ren asked me out, which had made me really happy. He said he had been waiting to do it for sometime, bit wanted to wait until we got to Beacon and things were more stable for us, and of course I said 'yes.' I had been crushing on him for the longest time, and was so happy. He said he wanted to keep the relationship a secret until we knew it would stick, but the wait was killing me, since I knew it would all work out between me and him, but I wanted to respect his wishes.

(y/n) was the only person I was going to tell, since he was my best friend. Everyone knows promising not to tell someone something doesn't apply to your best friend. I couldn't wait to see the look on his face, since I know he had been waiting for this to happen almost as long as I had. He's been so supportive through this whole thing, and it makes me realize how lucky I am to have a best friend like him.

When I tell him that night, he smiles really big, and then leaves for his dorm. I smile and wave as he leaves, happy he doesn't think me being with Ren is weird since the three of us knew each other our entire lives.

-Timeskip your pov-

You smiled when you sent Nora into a twirl, and then caught her close to you as the two of you danced. She had been super excited about this dance, and had been one of the people who had talked you into coming, which was something you were happy for. Even though you came here, alone, you were having a lot of fun, and dancing with her was always something you enjoyed.

The only thing you wished was different was that you wished you were the one Nora was dating. When she had told you, you had been devastated, but did your best to remain happy for her, and keep the friendship. But, you had been tired of bottling everything inside of you, and had been debating telling her for some time. With any luck, she would understand and the two of you could at the very least remain friends.

" Nora I," you began, and then you saw Ren come back from the bathroom. Nora turned to you, and you sighed and dropped your gaze. " Never mind," you mumbled, and then she nodded and detached from you, before running to Ren and jumping into his arms. You smiled when you saw this, happy to see Nora happy, even if there was that one part of you that still wished it was you who made her that happy.

-Timeskip Nora Pov-

I sit with (y/n) as he paces the room. We've been staying here for some time, and tomorrow we're going to go and retrieve the relic from the vault of the Spring Maiden. Everyone else is asleep, except for the two of us. " Hey Nora, I need to tell you something," he says. " I need you to listen to me until the end, and promise me you won't hate me, or tell anybody, not even Ren."

This makes me really curious as to what he wants to say if I can't even tell Ren, and that he even believes I could hate him for it. Once I make these promises, I see him get more nervous than I've ever seen him before, and he starts to pace the room even faster. Eventually, he takes a deep breath, and then he turns to me.

" I love you. I have ever since we were little kids, and I wanted to tell you this for the longest time. I know you're with Ren, and that probably isn't going to change at all. But, i just need to tell you. I was so tired of holding it inside for such a long time." I sigh sadly when he says this, and then hug him.

" I'm sorry (y/n)," I tell him. " I've never seen you that way, and yes I'm with Ren. But, I'm glad you decided to tell me. Take as much time as you need, but I hope that when it's over, you and I can go back to being friends."

I let go of him eventually, and he takes a long and shaky breath before he walks of, and I smile at him sadly. I really hope he finds someone one day. He really is my best friend, and seeing him in this state is difficult for me to deal with, especially knowing I was the one who hurt him that much.

-Timeskip Your Pov-

In time, you had managed to defeat Salem along with your friends, and all of you had gone back to the rebuilt Beacon Academy, all with the intention of finishing your training officially, and starting a career as a huntsman. Everything was pretty much perfect about the situation, except for one thing. Nora was still happily with Ren. Ever since you had confessed to her, nothing had changed.

The truth was, it still hurt for you to see the two of them together, especially when she would touch his noise and then say 'Boop' which is what she always used to say to you, but hasn't done that even once since getting with Ren. You had suspected and feared that things would change when she got with Ren, but you had hoped it wouldn't change so quickly, and some things would still be the same.

Shaking your head, you then went to see Nora, and to your surprise, she was crying her eyes out, and Ren wasn't with her. You sat down next to her, and then wrapped an arm around her, and she buried her head in your chest and began to sob. You asked her what was wrong, and just held her as she bawled her eyes out into your shirt. You hated seeing Nora like this, and then you made a note to yourself to beat whoever did this to her senseless, and then break his legs.

" It was Ren," says Nora eventually, which makes you wonder if they broke up. You did notice that the two of them spent less time together lately, though you had assumed it was because they were just going through a bit of a rough patch, and that they were going to figure it out.

" What did he do," you ask.

" He and I had been fighting lately, so I made him a lot of pancakes, and I was going to surprise him and apologize, and say I was ready to work everything with him out. But when I got there, he was in bed with someone else." When she finishes telling you this story, the door opens and then Ruby and her friends come in. You hand Nora to one of them, and then you dash down the halls, and then find Ren.

" Hello (y/n)," he says calmly, and then you deck him in the nose. This sets him off, and he asks you what that was for, and then you angrily tell him, and begin to get even angrier as he tries to justify what he did, and then you snap.

" Do you have any idea what you had with her Ren? Because there's nothing I wouldn't do to have a chance to have that with Nora. To have her love me like she loved you. But you went and through that all away and for what?"

He tries to answer you again, and by this point you've had it, and then just begin to beat you down. To his credit, he gives a beating almost as well as he takes one, and by the time you're finished, your breathing heavily, bloodied and bruised. But, you aren't done yet, and you use your Semblance of telekinesis to break his legs, and leave him there as he cries out in pain.

For the next few days, you avoid Nora, not knowing how she'll handle the fact that you beat up her ex boyfriend. However, one day she finds you and then tackles you, and you pull her in for a hug. " Why'd you do it," she asks. " You could have gotten in a lot of trouble for that."

" Cause he hurt you," you tell her and then she looks at you, seemingly a little bit confused. " Nora, when we were kids, I promised you I'd break the legs of anyone who hurt you, and Ren hurt you."

" Why would you go so far for me? You could have been expelled (y/n)."

" I still love you Nora," you admit to her. " And, I can't imagine the day when I don't. I know you broke up with Ren, and you may not ever have feelings for me. But the day you want me, if it ever comes, I will be waiting for you with open arms."

" I love you too (y/n)," she says. " I thought about it a lot after I heard what you did to Ren, and I think I always may have had feelings for you and never realized them. I'm sorry I made you wait."

" You were worth it," you tell her, and then you kiss her deeply. " I love you so much."

" I love you too."

-Epilogue Nora Pov-

I watch as (y/n) flips a pancake, and then our daughter, Sarah looks up at him lovingly, and then he hands her the pancake, and then she takes it and then runs off. (y/n) continues to make pancakes for the three of us to eat, and then I hug him from behind. " I never....I wanted to thank you for being there for me after Ren," I say, and then he looks me surprised. " It means the world to me."

" It was never a problem pancake," he says, using his nickname for me, and then I look up at him. " I love you okay? I'm always going to be there for you when you're at your best, and when you're at your worst."

" I love you too," I tell him, and then go to eat the pancakes made by the best cook, father, and husband in all of Remnant.
