-Your Pov-

You lay in a crater, with a cigarette dangling from your mouth. The air was ripe with the smell of gunpowder, blood and fire. Your monkey tail dangled from your waist, as you used it to hold a lighter for when this cigarette burned out. Around you was the rest of your team, all of them celebrating the victory in their own small way, either through drinking, smoking or just straight up whooping with joy. It agitated you a little bit, but you understood why they were so happy. Missions like these were always supposed to have high casualties, and yet your squad managed to make it through with no casualties each and every time. This mission stood out even more, since it was supposed to have taken weeks, and yet you had all managed to finish it in a matter of days.

" So, (y/n)," says one of them. " I bet you're excited to get back to the White Fang. I heard you and Kali were gonna have a kid. Aren't you happy to go back to them?" You rolled your eyes when he said this. Clearly, she had told everyone she knew about that, even though you had hoped it would stay silent for a little bit.

" Nah, I'm not really that excited to go back to her," you lied. " She's gonna be doting all over me, making sure I'm okay over and over again, even when I've told her I'm going to be fine. And then she's gonna lecture me about smoking, and all kinds of other shit. It's gonna be such a drag." Even though you said all of this, a small smile was on the verge of breaking out on your face. The truth was you were so happy to go back and see her.

" Man," says one of your team. " I don't get why you complain about that. If she were my wife, she could dote on me any time she wanted." When he says this, you sit up and glare at him, and then he begins to back away from you.

" She's my wife," you say, knowing the teasing that will come later from your team, but for right now, a bit too angry with them to care about any of it. You can't stand the flirtatious actions people take towards her. In your time since joining the White Fang, you had to deal with men eyeing her, flirting with her, and the worst of them even attempting to force her. Each and every one of them ended up in the hospital of course. Deny it as you might try to, Kali was your wife, someone you loved and cared about. And hell if anyone was going to hit on her in front of you.

" Knew it," says another member of your team, the only female. " I knew he loved her, deny it as he might. Come on guys. We gotta get back to the White Fang. You know (y/n) gets cranky when he's away from his wife for too long."

All of them smirk when they say this, and then you stand up. Before any of you can get far, a bloodied human stands up from the rubble. He looks over all of you, before his eyes settle on you. Before any of you can react, he lunges at you, and then flips over your back. He lands behind you, and then jabs your neck. You feel something like a jolt go through you, and your body feels weird.

Before you have time to think about it for too much, you blast him with your aura, setting him on fire. He drops to the ground without saying anything else, and then all of your team begins to head on back to base, talking about how weird that was, and how weak he had been. Without another word, all of you get onto the airship, and start to fly back to the base of operations. The rest of your team all talks behind you about what they plan on doing when they get back, but you just have a small smile on your face. You're going to go home, and then see Kali. Every stressful thing about the past few days fades away when you think of her holding you.

The only stop between you and Kali is when you have to give a report to Ghira, the High Leader of the White Fang, although that might be a little generous. Of late, more and more violent members of the White Fang have been gaining power and influence. Adam Tauras for example, was so beloved among most in the White Fang that he was starting to have more influence than the more reserved members such as Ghira and Sienna. By this point, Ghira was more of a puppet, who sat in the position of High Leader, almost as a placeholder between someone from the new generation usurped power.

" The mission went off without a hitch," you tell him simply. " No one in my squad was injured, and the railway shipping the weapons and Dust to the Schnee was destroyed. There are no survivors to speak of, as was ordered."

Ghira nods when you say this, a troubled look on his face. You know that he doesn't approve of Adam and the more violent members of the White Fang. This group started because he and Kali wanted to bring peace to the world, and get equality for the faunas the right way. However, many of the younger members were thirsty for human blood, and men like Adam were happy to oblige.

" Well thank you," he says to you, a distant look on his face. " That will be all for today. And, do tell Kali I said congratulations. She's very happy that the two of you are expecting. Well, don't let me keep you from your wife any longer." You smile when he says this, knowing how close the two of them are, and also at the thought of seeing Kali. Without another thought, you walk out of the room, but break into a sprint when you're out of sight, and then quickly make it to the house you have with Kali.

Opening the door, the smell of food hits you, and you make your way to the kitchen. Kali stands in an apron, eating something with one hand, and trying to make sense of some recipe with the other. You move behind her, and use your tail to wrap around her, and drag her close to you, and then you wrap your arms around her. " Hey beautiful," you tell her, and then she rubs her face against yours.

" Hey handsome," she says to you, and then her eyes widen and she turns around. " You didn't tell me you were coming back. I thought you were going to be gone for weeks. I missed you so much."

" I missed you too kitten," you tell her, kissing her forehead. " And I couldn't stay away from you for too long. I just had to wrap the mission up early." She smiles when you say this,and then she kisses you passionately.

" I have to finish cooking this," she says. " But when it's over, I want to tell you some big news, and then I want to talk with you about your mission." You nod when she says this, and then help her as she makes dinner, and the thoughts of anything else in the entire world fade away from you.

Eventually, the two of you sit down eating, and talking. She asks you about the mission, and then you reluctantly explain to her everything you had been ordered to do, the killing and destruction Adam had used you to cause. When you finish the story, Kali places her hands over yours, and begins to squeeze them, instantly causing you to feel better and calmer. " I know what might cheer you up," she says, and then she leaves and comes back with several papers in her hand.

" While you were away, I got a sonogram," she says. " I know I promised to wait for you to be there, but when the doctors told me enough time had passed so I could figure out the sex of our child, I had to go in and get one. I waited for you to see the results though."

Happily, you take the sealed envelop, and then the two of you place a hand down on it, and open it. " A girl," she says happily. " We're going to have a baby girl." The two of you happily talk about this all night, before she yawns and then goes to lie down in your bed, and you lie down next to her to join her.

Using your tail, you pull her close, and then wrap your arms around her, letting her head rest in your chest. Your wife radiates warmth, and then you quickly find yourself growing drowsy, and falling asleep, feeling safe for the first time in such a long time.

-Dreams-

As you sleep, you dream and then begin to see flashes and distorted images from various different people's perspective. None of them are distinct, or make any sense to you, but all of them give you the same feeling as you did when whoever that human was chopped you on the back of the neck.

The first image you see is of Kali holding your daughter, the girl a mass of black hair, her amber eyes just like her mother's, so curious and full of life as they survey the room. You smile when you see this, thinking how beautiful your daughter is, and how beautiful your wife is.

After a few moments, the image changes to your daughter as a teenager, using your bow to cover her ears as she stands with other girls her age, each of them holding a weapon and standing defiantly against a horde of Grimm.

The image changes, and then you see Adam. He holds a detonator in his hand, and then he presses the button. When he does, explosions ring out all around Menagerie. The island crumbles into the ocean, and then the image shows you Adam blaming the attack on humans, inciting an all out war between the two sides.

-Your Pov-

At this last one, you sit up rubbing your head. Kali mewls when you do this, and complains that she was so warm. You apologize to her when she does this, and pull her close to you again. However, you can't go back to sleep, even as she easily does. You can't stop thinking about what it was that happened in your dreams. That last one had to have been a result of all the stress you had been under lately. Adam may have been violent, but there was no way he would go so far. There was no way he would end that many faunas lives, both in the explosion, and in the war which would result between the two sides. And yet, it had felt so real, like it wasn't something that could happen, but something that was going to.

When Kali wakes up again in the morning, you smile at her, and then the two of you go through your morning routine of coffee and eating breakfast together. When you finish, she smiles sadly at you. The two of you so rarely get to spend time together like this. She's always helping Ghira as one of the High Leaders, and you're also going on one mission or another. Moments like these are the only time you have with her, and they're over so quickly. The two of you go into Ghira's office quickly, and then he informs you that your team has already been deployed on a mission. Giving Kali one last kiss, you then fly out to go meet them.

Your eyes widen when you see how bad the situation is. Fires burn everywhere, and then you see your team members all lying around, bloodied and not moving. " Uh guys? Tell me you're just resting in the blood of your enemies," you ask, knowing that's something they've done before. However, none of them even move an inch, except for one of them. You dash your way over, and kneel down next to him, asking him over and over again what happened here.

" Adam," he says weakly. " He wants to make all of us martyrs for the cause. He sent a squad to eliminate us, thanking us for their service. As they all flew away, they said something about Menagerie." Your eyes widen as he says this, and then you begin to wonder if what your dream had shown you had been true, if Adam was so far gone he would willingly go this far to incite a war.

" Take your wife and child and go," he says as the life leaves his body. You grab his bandana that he always wore, and then watch as it soaks red with his own blood. Angrily, you tie it around your forehead, your mind already racing on what you can do to stop all of this. As you turn around, you notice dozens of the most elite troops that the entire White Fang has at their disposal, and then summon your aura to do battle

-Kali Pov-

I sit in the office with Ghira, and then we discuss the actions of the White Fang, most specifically of Adam and Sienna. There's been a lot of speculation that one of them is going to become the leader of the White Fang when he and I retire. The both of them have a large following. Sienna's supporters are the oldest and wisest members of the White Fang who know that there are no shortcuts on our path to earning equality. On the other hand, those who follow Adam are the hotblooded young men, who believed peace could be earned through violence and hatred, those who failed to realize the need to break the cycle of hatred rather than perpetuate it.

" We will simply have to wait and see," says Ghira eventually. " One of them may eventually become the High Leader, but the both of them have a ways to go before they're ready for the burdens of leadership. On a happier topic, do you know if you're having a son or daughter?"

I smile when he asks this. Ghira is my oldest friend, and the one who helped me found the White Fang, no matter how much it has changed since we created it. When he asks this, my mind eases up, and I allow myself to enjoy talking to Ghira about how we know we'll be having a daughter, and how the two of us were thinking of making him the Godfather.

The tranquil moment ends when (y/n) staggers through the door. His armor is shattered in various places, blood drips from him, and he has a frenzied look on his face. I run over to him and hug him, and he returns the hug as he explains to me and Ghira what happened. When he finishes the story, I kiss him and he kisses back before the two of us look over to see Ghira, and wonder what he'll do.

" That's not possible," he says. " Adam is young and misguided, but this just doesn't seem like something he would ever do." When he says this, (y/n) snaps and then punches the wall, denting it, and then he glares at Ghira.

" Adam's taken our loyalty, and he paid us back with our own blood!" Ghira slumps down when (y/n) says this, the weight of situation singing in to him, and then he nods, and then he begins to say he'll put together a team to find the bombs Adam has scattered around Menagerie, and then (y/n) says he's going to go stop Adam while he can.

Before he goes, I hug him from behind, and he turns around and manages to smile. " Be careful," I tell him, and then he nods. " I'm serious (y/n)."

" I know," he says. " I'm going to come back to you Kitten." He hesitates for a few moments, and then kisses me deeply and passionately. I hold it for as long as I can, before pulling away needing air, and then he smiles at me. " But just in case. I love you Kali."

" I love you too (y/n)," I tell him, and then he dashes out of the room, and I look at his back as he runs away, knowing deep down that might be the last time I ever see him. Wiping tears from my eyes I summon all of the resolve I have, determined to go after the bombs, and make sure my husband doesn't give his life for nothing.

-Your Pov-

You kick down the door to Adam's office, breathing heavily, and bleeding profusely. You've had to fight hundreds of different opponents on the way here, all his elite bodyguards, as well as supporters. Your armor is nearly destroyed, and your legs and body feel like lead. " Adam," you tell him simply, summoning a ball of blue energy in your hand.

" (y/n)," he answers, and then reaches for his katana. Firing the ball of energy towards him, he simply cuts it in half, and then the shockwave from his blow sends you flying. You fall to the ground, and then he stabs you. As you feel the life fading from you, you have one more vision. Your daughter standing over a defeated Adam with her sword in hand. Seeing this, you smile.

" I love you Kali," you mutter one more time. " Wait for me," you murmur as your eyes shut.

-Timeskip Kali Pov-

I sit with a six year old Blake in the park. A statue of (y/n) has finally finished being constructed, him in his armor, smile on his face, adorned in gold. The statue was constructed after he had informed Ghira about the bombs Adam had planted in Menagerie, which had given us a chance to disarm them all, saving countless lives.

Ghira and I had left the White Fang when that had happened, and I had been devastated to learn that (y/n) had died. It took me a long time to get out the depressed state I had submerged into. It took Blake being born, and Ghira pointing out to me that (y/n) wouldn't have wanted this for me to snap out of it. (y/n) would still want me to find all the beauty in the world, and live life with a smile on my face.

" That's your father," I tell Blake as I point at the statue. " That's my husband, (y/n)." Blake looks at me in confusion, and then wipes a tear from the corner of my eye that I didn't realize had formed.

" What was he like," asks Blake, and then I smile at her sadly.

" He was strong. So strong," I say, getting choked up as I remember the times he would carry me to bed. " And kind. He had such a big heart. He tried to deny it of course, but he had his heart. And he was smart, smarter than he ever gave himself credit for. He was brave....he sacrificed himself for everyone on Menagerie. He was a hero Blake."

" I'm proud he's my dad," says Blake, and then I smile and hug her.

" He's proud you're his daughter. I know wherever he is that he's watching the two of us, and he's so proud of you." I say this, and then I turn to the statue. The details are amazing, and it looks exactly like he had. " I love you (y/n)."

-Epilogue Kali Pov-

I smile at Blake as she sits with me in the hospital. I've been on life support for sometime, and then they finally decided with me to pull the plug. " Are you scared mom," asks Blake, and then I smile at her.

" I lived a full life sweetie. I made mistakes, made friends, grew up, fell in love and had a beautiful daughter who grew up big and strong. I watched her grow up into the beautiful woman she is today, and then I got to walk her down the isle. It's been a good life, a great life. Better than most. The only thing I want to do now is see (y/n) again," I tell her, and then Blake nods.

The doctors come in to have me sign some final paperwork, and then Blake's eyes fill with tears. " I love you mom," she says, and then I smile up at her, and then brush them away from her eyes one last time.

" I love you too honey," I tell her, and then I nod at the doctors. He slowly removes the plug from the wall, and I feel a sharp pain for a few moments, before everything else goes black.

When I come to, I see myself as a young woman again, and I find myself in a small cabin. The smell of fish hits me, and then I go into the kitchen to see (y/n) trying to cook something, also aged back to when he was a young man. I run up to him, and tackle him into a hug from behind.

He turns around, and then uses his tail to pull me close, and then he holds me. " I missed you so much," I tell him, as I begin to rub against him affectionately.

" I missed you too Kali," he says, and then he kisses me. " I love you so much."

" I love you too," I tell him.
