Jason x Julia
Jason woke up to the sound of something which had become very familiar to him over the years, and something which he had come to know very well, the sound of a tea kettle boiling water. He sat up and rubbed his head, and then he looked over to the kitchen to confirm what he already knew, that being his wife Julia was making tea for herself to start the day. How she managed to drink it, and even enjoy it was far beyond him. Still, the sight of it made him smile, and so he got out of the bed, and walked behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist in a hug. " Good morning my love," he said with a smile.
That had been an oddity to Jason, that he had fallen in love with her. Not because Julia was the type of girl who was hard to love at all, rather because he was the type of person who was hard to love, and the type of person who had done the best he could not to fall in love. In fact, when he had gone to Beacon, he had been a very different person, lost and confused in a lot of ways, but the one thing he did know was that he wasn't going to fall in love, or at least that had been what he told himself.
Growing up with Ruby and Yang, he had heard all about the times when they wanted to find someone to be with, inspired by the love story between their father and mother, and how cute they found it to be. He had seen Yang's boyfriends come and go, and he had seen Ruby's childlike love of fairy tales, and her love of the idea of a Prince Charming, who would sleep her off her feet one day, and the two of them would fall in love with each other. Jason had never been like that however.
He was like his mother, Raven in a lot of ways. Closed off from a lot of people, and guarded. He rarely smiled, never laughed, and was often training. While Ruby and Yang wanted to become huntresses and save all the people they could, and make the world a better place, Jason had always wanted to become a huntsman, and become known as the strongest in the world, just like his mother had wanted when she was his age.
Jason had been irritated when he had heard that when he went to Beacon, he was going to have a team, and that he was going to have to work with them when the time came, maybe even trust his life to them. Ruby had been excited about the idea of it, as she was excited about everything. She and Yang both promised that their team would become the coolest team since STRQ to graduate from Beacon. While the two of them had always been excited about it, Jason had resented the idea, and had tried to make it through the initiation without getting a team.
Of course, that had fallen apart very quickly, when he ended up making eye contact with someone, the woman who would later become his wife, and the most important woman in the world to him. Julia Rose. Of course, when he had first met her, he hadn't been interested at all, and he had no plans on falling in love with her. He didn't want to repeat his mom's story, the cliche story of ' The two of us were partners when we went to Beacon, and we ended up falling in love with each other.'
But his disinterest in her had changed when he had gotten a good look at her. At her blue eyes, which even back then took him several moments to pry his gaze from, or her purple hair which seemed to be soft as silk, and even back then he wanted to run his hands through it, just to see what it would be like. Or her cat ears, which rested on her head, and he had wanted to pet so bad, even back then. Of course, with Jason being Jason, none of those were the first thing he did.
The first thing he had done was to try to walk off, since he didn't want a partner. Of course, she kept up with him effortlessly. Once he had given up on trying to make it through without a partner, he resigned himself to the idea that the two of them would be partners, and so he had ended up introducing himself to her. After the two of them had waved at each other, he had looked at her, trying not to stare. " I'm Jason," he had said, stiffly and uncertain, not used to having conversations with people other than family.
Even all these years later, her reply had always been something which had stuck with him, even now that the two of them were married to each other, and had a daughter on the way. " I'm a person," she had answered, and there had been nothing he was able to say to that, since it had taken him by surprise. At first he had thought it was because she was like him, someone who didn't want to have a partner, and had been stuck with one, though as he had gotten to know her, he began to think it was because she wasn't always good with social situations.
As the two of them had made their way through the ruins, Jason had continued to sneak glances with her, even when they would have to fight with Grimm along the way. It hadn't been because he had a crush on her, no that had come later. It had been because he needed to make up his mind about her. Jason was big on first impressions, and often, he made up his mind about people within minutes of meeting them, and yet Julia was an enigma to him in many ways.
Based on his first impression of her, Jason had thought she was someone who was cute, though that last bit he would never admit to himself, or to anyone else. But that had been it. He thought that she would have been a liability to him, as he thought everyone at Beacon would have become. Almost immediately after he had that thought, she had proved him wrong, and demonstrated that she was a capable fighter. And though begrudgingly, he did admit to himself that she was much stronger than he was, and someone of interest.
The mystery had only continued when he had learned that she was the adopted daughter of Ozpin and Glynda, which he had supposed would explain where she had learned to fight like she had. But it only made him wonder about her past, and the things she had been through before coming to Beacon, if her birth parents were dead, or if they had left her like Raven had done to him and to Yang. So, it would be wrong to say that Julia had never been a person of interest to Jason, in fact she had been one of the most interesting people to him since they had met.
Even if Jason had made up his mind not to fall in love with anyone during his time at Beacon, those plans had gone out the window very quickly, in large part because of Julia, and in large part because he shared a dorm with her, the universe seemed to move to bring the two of them together with each other, and the two of them had taken some time, but in the end, in large part, because the two of them had shared a dorm with each other, they ended up falling for her.
At first, sharing a dorm with her had just been weird, since he had been shocked co-ed dorms were allowed at Beacon. He had ended up walking in on her in the shower, or catching her in various states of undress, and the same went for her. There had been times when he thought he would die of embarrassment because of the things which happened between the two of them, and how awkward it had been. For some people, living with a girl and sharing a dorm with them would be amazing, but for Jason, stoic and serious as he tried to be, it was a very weird situation for him to navigate.
Of course, even if he didn't understand it at the time what was happening to him, dense as he actually was, he had been falling for her more and more the entire time, at least on a physical level, as he began to be more attracted to her, in large part because of their close proximity. But during this time, he had also become more drawn to her on an emotional level, and who she was as a person, quirky, strong, supportive and funny.
And he didn't know it, but at the same time, Julia's own attraction for Jason had been growing stronger and stronger the entire time. So while he had his own stories of walking in on her changing or in the shower, she had also walked in on him, and been equal parts flustered and impressed with what she had seen, and little by little, she had become physically attracted to him, while at the same time, falling for him and who he was. For his strength of will, for his determination, and for the way he could be surprisingly sweet when it came to his sisters when he wanted to be, and to Julia.
The two of them had gotten together during a thunderstorm, when he had revealed how scared he had been to her. Thunder had scared him ever since he had been a child, it was an old fear that he had never truly gotten over. Julia had done the best she could to help him through it, and it had been when he was so scared, and she had never left his side during that time. When it was over, Jason had been unable to hide his feelings from her any longer, and so the two of them had confessed, and become a couple with each other. It had been so amazing to Jason, and the first real relationship of his life.
The two of them had been considered the cutest couple that year at Beacon. The smallest thing was enough to get the two of them to blush and smile, and they were always so affectionate to each other when they wanted to be. Julia was even the first person to be able to get Jason to celebrate his birthday, and to celebrate Christmas after a long time of refusing to, and for Julia's own birthday, Jason had gotten her a cat, named Pumpkin, who the two of them loved so much.
After the fall of Beacon, things had taken a turn for the worse, when Julia had joined Salem. What Jason didn't know, is that Julia was working for them still, and doing her part to take down Salem from within her forces. But during that time, he had been so scared, and so alone that he didn't know what to do with himself, and it had been his lowest point of his life. He'd thought Julia had left him like all the rest of the people he cared about had.
Luckily, Jason had learned the truth soon, and in time, they had all defeated Salem, and had gotten to start their own life with each other. She had become a combat teacher, and Jason had become a huntsman like he'd always wanted to be. The two of them married, and bought a small, charming little house with each other where the two of them lived with each other. It was a good life, and one Jason was always thankful he'd been able to have.
Julia smiled as Jason hugged her from behind, and she snuggled into him. " Good morning darling," she said, with a kiss to his chin, causing Jason to blush. Even if they had been with each other for years, gestures of affection like this were still overwhelming to him, and they were still a little too much for him. She chuckled at his reaction, and then turned to face him, as Pumpkin came over to the two of them, and then hopped into Julia's arms, and the two of them smiled. Julia then turned to Jason, as if just remembering something. " I have to teach a class today. When I come home, I have some pretty big news for you."
Jason nodded, and then the two of them went through their morning routine, taking care of Pumpkin, eating their breakfast with each other, and then giving each other a kiss goodbye before the two of them then went to work, Julia teaching at Beacon, and Jason to a mission he had picked for himself.
When the day ended, Jason came back and waited in the classroom for Julia to finish grading papers from the test her students had taken that day. When she had, she made her way over to him, and hugged him. He planted a kiss on one of her cat ears and he smiled. " What was the news you had for me?"
Julia then smiled for a little bit. The two of them went through some of their jokes with each other about being socks, before she then got serious, and then looked at him. " I'm pregnant," she said with a smile on her face, which made Jason's eyes widen. He waited for her to say she was just joking to see how he would react, but when she confirmed that she wasn't with a nod, he smiled.
" I can't wait then. For some time now, I wanted to talk about having kids with you and starting a family, and our future with each other. I'm so ready for the two of us to be able to start our family."
Julia smiled at his words, and then snuggled into him with a smile on her face. " You know Jason, the two of us have been through a lot in the last four years. It's been an adventure. All of it, and I can't wait to see the next adventure we have with each other. I love you."
" I love you too. So very much," said Jason, and he held his wife, partner and the love of his life close to him.
