Chapter 1
"Follow the vine, count the leaves to the root. Trace back the line and you will find out the truth. Take back the time that you have spent being lied to. As you change, the days will follow, with every step you take."

-(Omega's POV)-
My name is Omega.
I'm a Fauna.
Not entirely sure what, but I'm pretty sure it's between some kind of lizard or reptile and a cat(like Lions and tigers and stuff, Big cats).
That's not what's important though, I'm running. Running from an organization called the, "White fang", or something.
They've realized how useful I am and now, they are trying to capture me, but I know they won't. I'm too fast, too sneaky, while they're mobilizing hundreds of... I don't know, units? To try and find me.
Even though I know they never will, I'm still afraid. No, not because of what they will do to me, but because of what I'll do to others once they get ahold me. So, I'm not going to stop running until I can find a place to stay.
-(1 month later)-
After running and, finally, losing my pursuers, I took refuge with my friend, Gabriel, or Gabe for short.
We've known each other for a long time and I knew I could trust him, so I stayed at his place, in downtown Vale, for a while and tried not to be a bother.

"You need something to eat?" He asked.
"Nah, I'm fine." I responded, not entirely sure of what else to say.
Both of us go to Signal Academy and this year, me and him are going to Beacon, which I am looking forward to, because I don't want to have anything to do with the White Fang or anything that stupid organization does.
I was watching the news, seeing and hearing the usual, everyday events and forecasts.
Nothing exciting.
Until, an image of what seemed to be protestors setting fire to a building showed up on the screen.
I stared blankly at the television as the reporter told the story.
It was the White Fang.
From what I understand, this collection of Faunas were once peaceful.
That is, until a new leader had taken control.
I called Gabe over,"Yo."
I motioned with my head towards the tv.
"You think there's something we can do about all this?" I asked him.
He was silent for a bit, but eventually answered,"As of right now, no. We know very little about how they operate, so we can't do much other than maybe...take some of their members down."
"Yeah...I guess." I responded.
We were silent for some moments, listening to the report.
"But you know what?" I broke the silence.
"What's that?" Gabe asked.
"Maybe...maybe we can get others to help us out." I suggested.
"From where? Beacon?" He asked.
"Well, yeah. I mean, we don't exactly know a lot of people--" Gabe cut me off.
"I'd like to keep it that way. The less people know, the better. We have a better chance of staying hidden if no one knows who we are." He said.
"Yes, but, we cannot keep ourselves secret forever." I argued.
"We don't need forever...we just need...long enough."
-(The first day at Beacon)-
Me and Gabe were on the ship to Beacon, looking out the windows.
The mood was a bit cheerier now, and we didn't worry about the situation as much.
"You excited?" Gabe asked.
"No, I wish there were seats on this ship." I joked.
Right about then, a guy with blond hair walked past us covering his mouth. He looked like he was about to throw up.
Afterwards, the holographic screen switched from the news, to a woman with a short cape on her back.
She looked like a witch or something.
"Who's that?" Someone asked.
"My name is Glynda Goodwitch." Said the person on the screen.
"Oh" I heard whoever it was say again.
"You are among the privileged few who have been selected to Attend this prestigious academy. Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and, as future Huntsmen and huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it."
"Ehem, 'Peace'."I commented, making air-quotes.
"You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge you'll need to protect our world." The hologram of Goodwitch fades away, after which, everyone looks out the window, down onto Vale.
"Look, you can see signal from up here!" Said a girl in a red cloak.
I looked out and there was Signal, my old academy. "I guess home isn't too far away." She said.
I was going to say something but her friend reacted before I could say anything. "Beacon's our home now."
I couldn't have agreed more.

Once the ship had docked at the cliff overlooking Vale, we made our way down the path that lead to the main tower of Beacon, because that's where everyone else was going.
There were a lot of people there, most of them, I could guess, were new.
"So, I guess this is where we'll be spending the next, I dunno, 4 years?" I said.
"Yeah, that's if everything ends up being, you know, normal, and considering the White Fang doesn't find us here. If that does happens, we're leaving. I don't want to put others in danger because of you and me." Gabe said.
It was true. If the White Fang were to find us, everyone here would be in danger.
So, with that being said, we'd have to conceal ourselves as best as possible.
Anyway, while me and Gabe were walking down the path, we heard an explosion come from behind us.
"The heck was that?" Gabe asked.
I shrugged,"I don't know."
"Probably some crazy idiot who accidentally activated their weapon and shot the ground or something" Gabe said.
I shrugged again, and we continued our way to the building.
Everyone was gathering in the amphitheater, waiting for Ozpin to make his speech.
Me and Gabe found a spot near the back and we waited there unti he finally came on stage.
"I'll keep this...brief." He started.
"You have traveled here today in search of knowledge-to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and, when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your lives to the protection of the people. But I look among you today, and all I see, is wasted energy. In need of purpose, direction."
"Wasted energy?! I'd hardly call myself 'Wasted energy'" I whispered.
"Dude,shh."
"You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge will ony carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step."
Goodwitch came onto the stage as Ozpin left.
"You will gather in the ballroom tonight. Tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready, you are dismissed."
* * * * *
It took us a while to find the ballroom, but once we did we set our stuff down near the wall and we sat there talking.
Once it had gotten dark, I went to the bathroom and changed into my pajamas, but I kept my black fedora on, so as to not let anyone see my uhh...Fauna ears.
It's kinda sad that I don't know what kind of Fauna I am. I thought as I shook my head.
I sat in my sleeping bag and dozed off for a while until I woke up to some girl saying,"Hello!" really loudly.
She walked over to the girl next to me, who had gold eyes and a black bow and a book, and said,"I believe you to may know each other."
She said pointing at her, presumably, friend.
The girl who was reading replied,"Aren't you the girl that exploded?".
I interrupted, remembering the explosion earlier.
"Wait, so, you..." I pointed at the girl who had short black hair and red highlights.
"...were the one who caused that explosion?" I asked, confused.
"Um...yeah?" She answered.
"Okay...then, I've been wondering what that was." I said.
"So...who're you guys?" The girl with long blond hair asked.
"Huh?...oh, I'm Omega, and this is Gabe."I said, pointing at Gabe who was to my left.
He looked up and said,"Hey, what's up?"and continued to try to sleep.
"See..." the blonde said, looking at her friend.
"...That's two more friends already." She turned to us again.
"I'm Yang, this is my sister, Ruby." I looked at her in disbelief.
"Hold up!...what? You to look nothing alike!...Sorry...Hello...Ruby, hello Yang. It is a pleasure to meet you guys." I greeted.
Welp, that was weird, I never expected them to be sisters, they look nothing alike,
Well... I thought to myself.
...at least I made some new friends today.
They turned to the person to my right.
Yang asked her,"So, what's your name?"
She took a second, but eventually responded with, "Blake..."
"Well, Blake, I'm Yang, Ruby's Older sister."
I still couldn't get over the fact that they were sisters.
She continued,"I like your bow...."
"Thanks." Blake responded.
"It goes great with your...pajamas." Yang stuttered.
I was laughing in my head, but managed to keep a straight face.
"...right..."Blake said, without looking up from her book.
Yang continued to try to hold their conversation.
"Nice night, don'tcha think?"
Blake said, "Yes, it's lovely. Almost as lovely as this book...that I will continue to read...as soon as you leave."
I mentally face-palmed,
This is hopeless. I thought.
"Yeah, this girl is a lost cause." Yang said.
"What's your book about?" Ruby spoke up.
"It's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body." Blake answered.
"Yeah, that's...real lovely..."Yang commented.
They continued talking, but I didn't stay up to hear any more of it.
Tomorrow was our initiation and I had to get rest, so I laid down in my sleeping bag and ,somehow ,fell asleep to all the noise these people were making.
