The Beowolves were getting closer as we got into our positions.

Ruby planted the blade of Crescent Rose into the ground and started taking out some of them.

I decided to save some energy by going ranged until they got closer.

I left team RWBY to their thing and went off to the left to intercept 2 groups of about 8 - 14 Beowolves each.

I ran into the first group not very far from where team RWBY was. I looked around for Omega by instinct. We've always fought together and I wasn't used to fighting by myself, but I knew I could handle the Beowolves.

I shot at them with my pistols, because that way I could target more than one at a time.

I ended up getting rid of 5 of them, but there were still 7 left.

I converted Gamma back to its dagger form and charged at the nearest Beowolf, easily slicing through it. It decayed not long after.

I activated my semblance, and took care of the rest in about ten seconds.

I should probably conserve my energy, I don't know how long we'll be out here for. I thought to myself.

I walked a bit further into the abandoned city, looking for the other group.

I was about to join up with the rest until I heard some howls not too far from where I was and decided to investigate.

It was coming from inside one of the buildings near the spot where we were dropped off.

As I got closer, I could hear a low humming noise that popped up every second or so.

I recognized the sound to be The Destroyer shooting off a beam of the Blazar particles, which caused an explosion every few seconds, meaning that it hit something.

The sound stopped and I assumed it was safe to walk inside.

As I opened the door, the hum came up again, I saw a glowing green line of the particles coming at me.

"Oh-" I was unable to finish the sentence as the whole front of the building exploded into chunks of concrete, and I was launched to the other side of the street.

"Heh...sorry." I heard Omega say.

"Oww...dude! Why?" I said. I wasn't really hurt, since I had all this armor on and I was only knocked back by the explosion, not directly hit by it.

"I thought you were a Beowolf, since your armor is all black and stuff so..." He said and helped me up.

"It's alright.'' I told him.

"But I'll get you back for that." I said.

We joined up with the rest of the group and went on with our mission.

Along the way, we encountered more Grimm, but we were able to fend them off.

Oobleck asked the members of team RWBY, other than Ruby, for the reasons that they wanted to become Huntresses.

When he asked me why I wanted to become a Huntsman, I told him that I wanted to stop the White Fang.

It kind of is the reason, but it wasn't the whole reason. Me and Omega came to beacon to seek temporary refuge from the White Fang.

But, I guess times have changed, we can't hide from the White Fang forever.

We either keep running and let them continue their evil work, or turn around and fight them.

When Oobleck went to ask Omega for the reason he wanted to be a Huntsman, he came up with a pretty smart answer...that, or he had no answer so he made one up.

"Why not?" He said.

"There isn't anything that's more fun than being a hero. Other than being a part of a team of heroes. Besides, it's not a job, it's a duty. I wanna be able to help people when no one else can."

"Hmm...Interesting." Oobleck said.

After Oobleck left, I went over to him and said,"Nice one."

He turned to me with the only serious expression he's had all day and said,"It's the truth, there really isn't anything else I'd rather do."

I thought about it for a minute, he was right. There isn't much else that Omega or I would do.

We were both raised in a community that was always being attacked by Grimm and discriminated by Humans.

It's not for revenge, it's just...the right thing to do.

"Yeah, me too I guess." I told him.

It was getting dark, the sun was on the edge of the horizon.

Fortunately, Oobleck had decided that we had done enough "investigating" for today, so we set up camp in the fifth floor of a nearby building.

Ruby volunteered to do the first watch, although I'm pretty sure that Omega would've been a better choice, since he basically doesn't even need sleep because of his semblance.

But, Ruby is pretty hyperactive so I guess that would make sense.

We had a small dinner of some turkey that somehow was able to fit in Ruby's bag.

We didn't eat it all because, you know...we kinda need food.

Omega didn't eat any, again he doesn't need it.

         -(a little while later)-

Omega's POV

After everyone was done with their dinner, which was more of a snack, we set up our sleeping bags.

I put mine the closest to the campfire, because it was really cold out, and the breeze when you're up this high, doesn't help.

Sure, it's more dangerous, but hey, that's how I like to live.

Besides, if you think sleeping 2 feet from a fire is dangerous, I sleep next to 5 different saws, a plasma cutter, a router, 3 grinders and a bunch of tools lying on the ground in our dorm.

Yeah, I know, Livin' Like Larry.

Oobleck fell asleep almost immediately, Gabe was pretty exhausted, especially since I accidentally hit him with a beam earlier.

Ruby fell asleep when she was supposed to be watching the perimeter for any suspisiscous things or Grimm. Genius.

The rest of them fell asleep at the same time. Or so I thought.

I was about to start thinking about sleeping when I heard Yang say,"Blake, are you awake?"

I was curious, but I didn't want to interrupt so I pretend to be asleep.

"Yeah." Blake answered.

"Why do you think he asked us about being a Huntress?Like, what was he trying to say?" Yang asked.

I asked myself the same question earlier.

"Maybe he was just curious." Blake implied.

"You think?"

"No."

"Weiss, are you awake?" Yang asked.

"Of course I am you two are talking!" She responded.

"When I said I wanted to honor my family's name, I meant it. But, it's not what you think. I'm not stupid, I'm fully aware of what my father has done with the Schnee Dust Company, since he took control over it, our company has run a...moral gray area." Weiss said.

I listened to their converasation a bit more. That kind of gave me a bit more of a background story of them and stuff. Not too sure what I should do with the knowledge though.

I continued to listen, and when Weiss said,"...it's a job to protect the people..." I cut her off.

"It's not a job..." I said, I guess they didn't expect me to Uhh..you know...pop up but I ignored their surprised reaction and continued.

"...it's a duty...and not just to protect the people...but also to keep peace and strengthen the bond between the people. What are we gonna do after all the Grimm are gone? It's not gonna be peaceful. There are still people out there who want to cause trouble, we have to fix that too. But no matter what we do, there will always be trouble. I don't only want I protect people and keep peace, I want to inspire people to do the same, even though there is always something wrong with the world, maybe something we can't fix. But, people see that we try anyway, they'll be inspired to try and fix it too...maybe then we can all set aside our differences and work together as one to finally have the peace that we have long dreamed of." Wow. I didn't know I had that kind of talent. That was probably the most beautiful thing I've ever said.

I continued,"But, I seriously doubt that it's ever gonna happen. I mean, it's too...overwhelming for anyone to even try-"

"That's why we do it together." Gabe said.

"Together, we can accomplish more than any one person in the world. Anything we do, we do it together. If we fail...we do that together too."
