Ruby Rose and the Tungsten twins

Legends. Stories scattered through time. Mankind has grown quite fond of recounting the exploits of heroes and villains, forgetting so easily that we are remnants, byproducts, of a forgotten past.

The gems in the image glow green and fade to show simple pictures of a man rising from the earth before being surrounded by creatures, barely held back by warriors.

Man, born from dust, was strong, wise, and resourceful, but he was born into an unforgiving world. An inevitable darkness — creatures of destruction — the creatures of Grimm - set their sights on man and all of his creations. These forces clashed, and it seemed the darkness was intent on returning man's brief existence to the void.

Darkness sets in, then suddenly lessens as a light grows brighter and brighter until a gem rises from it and lowers itself into the hands of man.

However, even the smallest spark of hope is enough to ignite change, and in time, man's passion, resourcefulness, and ingenuity led them to the tools that would help even the odds. This power was appropriately named "Dust".

The scene zooms out to show men shooting lightning, raising swords, and aiming rifles at the retreating beasts as a castle appears behind them.

Nature's wrath in hand, man lit their way through the darkness, and in the shadow's absence came strength, civilization, and most importantly, life.

The castle zooms out to show a map of Remnant, which houses other buildings until they disappear in flashes of white and the map is lowered to show the scattered moon over a city at night.

But even the most brilliant lights eventually flicker and die. And when they are gone... darkness will return.

A tall and lanky man and six people believed to be his henchmen head down an alley from the shadows.

The man has slanted, dark-green eyes and bright, long, orange hair, with long bangs covering his right eye. Black eyeliner traced his visible left eye. He wears a red-lined white suit with long black pants and black shoes. His accessories include a small gray scarf, black gloves with buckled sleeves, and a black bowler hat with a small feather tucked into its red band.

His henchmen on the other hand are dressed in a black suit with a matching hat and shoes, red sunglasses, and a red tie, with a small amount of variation.

They stop behind their boss, who reignites his cigar without touching it and grins before walking down the road, frightening nearby citizens as they make their way towards the shop 'From Dust Till Dawn'. What they are unaware of is the fact they're being watched by a hooded figure in the shadows.

So you may prepare your guardians, build your monuments to a so-called "free world", but take heed... there will be no victory in strength.

The crime boss and his henchmen enter the shop, the camera lowering to a young girl wearing a hooded red cloak in the corner of the shop, reading a weapons magazine.

But perhaps victory is in the simpler things that you've long forgotten. Things that require a smaller, more honest soul.

The henchmen look around and at the Dust crystals in the display when their boss approaches the elderly shopkeeper.

The crime boss flicks his cigar, "Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Dust shop open this late?"

One of the henchmen points his gun at the shopkeeper.

The shopkeeper raises his hands, "P-please! Just take my Lien and leave!"

"Shhh, shhh, shhh, shhh, calm down, we're not here for your money," he turns to the henchmen, "Grab the Dust."

A henchman opens a case and removes one of several cylinders, which the group uses to take Dust from the tube containers on the walls.

The henchman places another open case on the display to the shopkeeper, "Crystals. Burn. Uncut."

The shopkeeper proceeds to fill the case. As another henchman goes for another tube, he hears the muted 'This Will Be the Day' song from the girl's direction, and unsheathes his sword.

The henchman points his sword at her back, "Alright kid, put your hands where I can see 'em."

No response.

"Hey, I said hands in the air! You got a death wish or something!?"

He goes over to her and turns her around, the hood dropping revealed her surprised expression. Giving you the description of her, she's fair skinned  with silver eyes and neck-length black hair with red tips. She wears a black long-sleeved blouse with a high collar and red trim on the sleeves, over which is a black waist cincher with red lacing up the front, and a matching skirt with red lining. She also wears a pair of thick black stockings and black combat boots with red laces, red trims around the top, and red soles. Her outfit is topped by a red hooded cloak fastened to her shoulders by cross-shaped pins. Her emblem appears as a large silver buckle on her wide black belt, which is slung around her hips on an angle. Attached to her belt are a pocket and a row of bullets. At the moment she wears headphones. He motions for her to lower them.

"Yes?"

"I said, put your hands in the air, now!"

"Are you... robbing me?"

"Yes!"

"Ooohhh…"

The boss is waiting for his men to finish the heist when a "Hey!" and "Hyah!" are heard, and the threatening henchman flies past him. He calmly motions for another to handle Red.

The henchman proceeds to raise his gun at her, "Freeze!"

Cut to outside the shop, when the henchman and Red crash through the window. The other men look outside as Red gets up and unfolds her sniper into a really big scythe. The boss scowls, but she smiles back at them before twirling the weapon around, striking it into the ground and turning off her headphones.

"Okayyy…" says the crime boss as he turns to his remaining henchmen, "Get her!"

The henchmen run out to the front of the shop and charge at the girl, who spins around her scythe and kicks the closest assailant in the face.

She then pulls her weapon out of the ground and fires a shot, using the recoil to slam the butt of her weapon into the next henchman, sending him flying, before bringing it down on another after following through the motion. The other attacker opens fire on her, forcing her to evade the incoming rounds through a series of zigzags, propelled by a few shots from her weapon. This allows her to get close enough to knock him into the air. She then spins around and knocks him down, with the henchman landing at Roman's feet.

Meanwhile, the two last goons try to attack her from behind only to be intercepted by a hooded guy who runs in between them with charged fists. He proceeds to deliver powered jabs to a henchman's abdomen while sidestepping to avoid a sword swipe from the other henchman before spinning around to elbow said opponent at the back of the head. He grabs their heads, sending electric current running through them and then slams both heads together, allowing them to fall in a heap.

The fight doesn't go unnoticed by the girl who turns around only to meet red eyes that changes to brown as the owner pulls his hood down, revealing Toby.

"Hey, you okay?"

The girl looks up at him, considering the fact he's a lot taller than her.

"Oh, um, yeah I'm okay."

"You were worth every cent. Truly, you were," the boss turns to the two of them, dropping his cigar and crushing it with his cane as approaching police sirens are heard, "Well, Big red and Little red, I think we can all say it's been an eventful evening, and as much as I'd love to stick around…," he raises his cane and opens the bottom to reveal a rifle with a cross grid, "...I'm afraid this is where we part ways."

"Duck," said Toby.

The bowler hat guy unleashes a red blast, which is suddenly hit midair, exploding not too close to them, surprising the red cloaked scythe wielder as Toby looks up behind them towards a roof where his sister, Nilak, was perched on with one arm outstretched. Actually a good thing she made it in time. The red riding hood looks at him and then to the direction he's facing as she notices Nilak.

"Who's that?" the scythe wielder asks.

Nilak then points at a ladder where they turn around to see the white clad crime boss climbing up.

"We should save the introductions for later. We have a guy to catch," said Nilak.

He then runs ahead of her, going to the roof and channeling his semblance into his legs, enhancing his jump.

The girl turns to the onlooking shopkeeper, "You okay if I go after him?"

The shopkeeper gives a short "Uh huh", and Ruby sets off.

She shoots the ground, propelling her up to the roof to join Toby as they start running. They're later joined by Nilak who runs next to them as they continue their chase.

"Hey!"

The crime boss stops at the edge, "Persistent… and I see you've brought a friend. How cute."

The three teens prepare but a getaway Bullhead rises up and opens the hatch to allow the white clad crime boss inside.

He then turns around and holding up a red Dust gem, "End of the line, Reds and Bluey."

He throws it out at their feet and fires, resulting in a large explosion.

"Whoa-ho-ho-ho!* he stops laughing when he sees something on the roof, "Huh?"

A woman in a purple cape is now in front of the three teens, casting a circle of protection over them with her wand.

She appears to be a woman in her thirties, her light-blonde hair is tied back in a bun with a curl hanging down the right side of her face. Her eyes are bright green and she wears thin ovular glasses. She has dangling teal earrings that match the hanging pendant on her collar. She wears a white long-sleeved, pleated top that has a wide keyhole neckline and gauntlet cuffs that flare in pleats at the wrist. Her lower body is covered by a black high-waisted pencil skirt with bronze buttons and black fading into brown stockings. She also wears black boots with bronze heels and a cape that is purple inside and black on the outside. The cut of the cape is stylized to end in flames and arrows, with a row of diamond-shaped bronze beads on the back. Above this line of beads appears an emblem of a tiara that is her personal symbol.

As the teens look on, the twins with looks of horror, the woman utters a quick "hmph" before adjusting her glasses and waving her weapon and summons several streaks of purple at the craft. Bowler hat guy is thrown around in the back until he's caught by a man who's approximately a foot taller than him. Not much is known about him for he wears a black demonic looking armor bearing the resemblance of a Grimm with yellow eyes.

He releases the crime boss as the latter goes to the cockpit, where a woman in red, her face unseen, is struggling with the controls.

"We got a Huntress!"

The woman gets up and heads toward the back as the boss takes the controls. Meanwhile, the purple caped woman glows purple for a moment and aims another blast above the craft, resulting in a dark storm-cloud right over the jet.

"The hell...?"

With a flick of her wand, large jagged hail starts falling that pummels the jet and even breaks through the window, narrowly missing his head.

The woman reaches the back and her arms and chest light up like fire, aiming a burst of energy at the Huntress who blocks it, but the flame splatters behind her and slowly glows hot with the enemy's raised hand. While this happens, the knight in Grimm armor steps out beside the woman with a raised right hand as a set of 12 inch long razor sharp claws extend from the fingertips and with a flick of his wrist, several spikes are flung towards the caped huntress who back-flips out of the way at the last second before an explosion erupts from her previous position, which destroys part of the roof, as she then magically gathers the shards to create a large arrow, which she throws at the craft. The fiery woman shatters the arrow with several blasts, but it reforms just in time to hit the side of the jet due to the crime boss' quick aerial lean. The wreckage separates and reshapes into more arrows that encircle the jet, but the woman summons several glowing rings around herself that expand and destroy the shards.

The teens, finally acting, activate their weapons in their ranged modes to open fire at them, only for the Grimm knight to generate a form of biomass from his armor into a shield, protecting the two of them from the massive bullet fire. The woman on the other hand, creates several blazing circles around her opponents. The huntress and the twins notice this and the former telekinetically pushes the red hooded girl and rolls herself out with the latter two running out of the explosion's radius; looking up to see the hatch close and the craft fly away.

The twins catch their breaths as adrenaline slowly wears off from them, allowing the awareness of their current predicament sink in as they realise now that they had just survived the attacks of scary people only to encounter an even scarier person. They slowly turned towards the huntress with a cringe.

The cloaked girl looks at the huntress, "You're a Huntress!" She puts on a pleading, awe-stricken face, "Can I have your autograph?!"

A wide eyed Toby looks at his sister, " We're screwed aren't we?"

"..One hundred percent brother."

The scene cuts to the twins with a neutral expression while the red riding hood's expression is now the one of shame as the woman, with a tablet computer, paces around the table the three teens are seated at, right underneath a bright light in the otherwise dark room.

"I hope that the three of you realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly. You put yourselves and others in great danger."

"They started it!" said the girl.

"Yeah, there was a robbery going on, and where were the police or the huntsmen when that happened?" Nilak says just as she notices Toby giving her a look as he sharply runs his fingertips across his throat, telling her to stop talking.

The huntress glares at them.

"If it were up to me, you'd all be sent home... With a pat on the back… " She notices the hooded girl's smile, "...And a slap on the wrist.

She demonstrates with her riding crop, which Red barely avoids as she gives out an "Eeek!"

"But... there is someone here who would like to meet you."

She moves out of the way so the teens can see a man in green come through the doorway, holding a mug and a plate of cookies.

He's a middle-aged man with tousled silver hair and thin brown eyes. He has a light complexion and sharp facial features. Interestingly, he has black eyebrows, suggesting that he may have had black hair when he was younger. He wears shaded glass spectacles and a small, purple, cross-shaped pin on the cowl around his neck. His outfit mainly consists of an unzipped black suit over a dark green, buttoned vest and green shirt. He also wears black trouser shoes and long, dark-green pants.

The twins' eyes widen in recognition at seeing him as he addresses them.

"Ruby Rose…" he then leans in to look at her face, "You... have silver eyes."

Ruby: Uh, um…

He turns to the twins, "Toby Tungsten and Nilak Tungsten. It is nice to see you've taken after your parents."

Toby nods, "Yeah."

"People have told us that," Nilak agrees.

"Hmm… I'll get to you both soon," He turns to Ruby, "So! Where did you learn to do this?"

He gestures with his head at the tablet the huntress is holding, showing Ruby's fighting.

"S-Signal Academy."

"They taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?"

"Well, one teacher in particular."

"I see…"

He puts the cookies on the table in front of them. As the twins pick one each, Ruby tentatively picks one up, eats it in a single bite, and then, not seeing any rebuttal, shovels the rest into her mouth.

"It's just that I've only seen one other scythe-wielder of that skill before. A dusty, old crow…"

Ruby mumbles through her full mouth, "Oh! That's my uncle!" she then swallows and wipes her mouth, embarrassed, "Sorry. That's my Uncle Qrow! He's a teacher at Signal. I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing. And now, I'm all like— Hooowaaah! Witchaaaa!" she says thus while making some karate-style poses and noises.

So I've noticed," says the man who places his cup on the table as he leans in, then sits down opposite Ruby, "And what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?"

"Well... I want to be a Huntress."

"You want to slay monsters?"

"Yeah! I only have two more years of training left at Signal! And then I'm going to apply to Beacon!" She starts talking faster and faster with her enthusiasm growing, "You see, my sister's starting there this year, and she's trying to become a Huntress, and I'm trying to become a Huntress 'cause I wanna help people. My parents always taught us to help others, so I thought, Hey, I might as well make a career out of it! (giggles) I mean the police are alright, but Huntsmen and Huntresses are just so much more romantic and exciting and cool and really, gosh, you know!"

She flips out at the last part, staring at the two with a wide, crazy smile.

The twins stare at her, already creeped out and then to each other and then back at the man in green and the huntress who both study them.

"Do you know who I am?"

You're Professor Ozpin. You're the headmaster at Beacon.

Ozpin smiles, "Hello."

The twins chorus, "Hi."

"Nice to meet you," said Ruby.

"You want to come to my school?" asks Ozpin.

"More than anything."

Ozpin exchanges glances with the huntress, who shows her disapproval with a "Hmph" before he turns back to Ruby.

"Well, okay."

Ruby smiles, wide-eyed and open-mouthed. She then gleefully jumps up and down out of her chair.

Ruby then wraps each arm around the twins' necks, pulling them into a hug, "Did you hear that, guys? I'm going to Beacon. I'm going to be a Huntress!"

"Okay, Okay, we get it," says the male twin as he tries to pull himself out of her hold.

"Too much hugging, Red. Can you please let us go now?"

Embarrassed, Ruby releases them.

"Yeah, sorry."

Ozpin sits there, watching the interaction between the three teens, smiling.

"I see you three will get along quite well," muses Ozpin

"Wait, they're also going to Beacon?" asks Ruby.

"Of course," he then turns to the twins, "It's been a long time since we last saw each other. Last time I saw you was when you were toddlers. Even Glynda had a really good time with you, am I right?"

Glynda pinches the bridge of her nose, "Please don't remind me."

Judging from the tone in her voice, You could tell she can remember flashbacks of past headaches dealing with two hyperactive twins.

"So, how has Atlas been treating you?" asked Ozpin

"Oh, you know, the same floating piece of ice block. Very much," replies Toby

"I see. Now, when we came here to visit you in the hotel you were staying only to find out you were missing, I was wondering where you went."

"Uhh… we went out on a late night stroll," said Nilak, quickly coming up with an excuse.

"Mhmm. And you did that at the same time the police found a group of already downed criminals in two different locations?" He gestures to the tablet Glynda is holding, showing Toby's and Nilak's fights respectively.

Seeing the footage caused the two to sweatdrop cartoonishly as Ruby watches with awe and wonder.

Toby admits awkwardly, "Maybe?"

"I don't really fault you two because it's now two less crimes in the city. We've received your transcripts and we'll be expecting you in beacon."

The teens share a smile.

"And don't think," Professor Goodwitch said, wiping off the elated smiles, "for even a moment that your parents won't be informed of your activities."

The scene changes again as a blonde teenage girl tackles Ruby in a hug aboard the large Vale Airship to Beacon, crushing the air out of her.

She is a tall, fair-skinned young woman with lilac eyes and long, thick, wavy bright golden hair that fades to pale gold at the tips with a cowlick sticking out at the top. She wears a tan jacket that bares her midriff, with golden brown piping and short, puffy sleeves with black cuffs that feature two gold buttons. Underneath this, she wears a low cut yellow crop top with her emblem on the left breast in black. She also wears a brown belt covered by a pleated brown piece of material reaching from hip to hip around the back of her waist, with her emblem emblazoned on the right-most pleat in gold. Underneath this is a long, white, asymmetrical piece of material reaching to her knee on the right side, as well as a pair of tight black spandex compression shorts that reach her upper thighs. She wears a pair of brown, knee-high boots and orange over-the-knee socks, with the right sock pushed down just below the knee. A gray bandanna is tied around her left knee.

"Oh, I can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me! This is the best day ever!"

Ruby gasps, "Please stop."

The blonde teen releases her, "But I'm so proud of you!"

"Really Sis, it was nothing."

"What do you mean? It was incredible! Everyone at Beacon is going to think you're the bee's knees."

"I don't want to be the 'bee's knees', okay? I don't want to be any kind of knees! I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees."

"What's with you?" asks the older sister, "Aren't you excited?"

"Of course I'm excited... I just…" Ruby sighs, "I got moved ahead two years. I don't want people to think I'm special or anything."

The older sister goes over and gives her sister a one-armed hug, "But you are special."

Standing not too far from them are the Tungsten twins who watch the two sisters.

"I know she said she has a sister and I'm looking at those two," said Toby, observing them, "They don't look alike."

"They don't really have to be biological siblings, they could be step siblings or adoptive or half siblings."

Their attention is drawn to the 2-D animated newscast on Vale News Network playing nearby, talking about the robbery and showing the crime boss' mugshot along with Omar's mugshot and John's and Gideon's.

"The robbery was led by nefarious criminal Roman Torchwick, who continues to evade authorities. But just last night, a group of thugs as well as the infamous Omar Obsidian got apprehended but the ex-convicts, John and Gideon still remain at large. If you have any information on their whereabouts, please contact the Vale Police Department. Back to you, Lisa."

The mugshot changes to Lisa Lavender, with a photo of animal-eared demonstrators holding signs saying 'WE ARE NOT ANIMALS!' followed by an image of the logo of a growling red wolf's head with three scratch marks.

"Thank you, Cyril. In other news, this Saturday's Faunus Civil Rights protest turned dark when members of the White Fang disrupted the ceremony. The once peaceful organization has now disrupted…"

The news feed is cut off as a hologram of Glynda replaces it.

"Hello, and welcome to Beacon," said Glynda.

"Who's that?"

"My name is Glynda Goodwitch."

"Oh."

"You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy! Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world."

And with that, the hologram disappears.

"Oh, wow! Look, you can see Signal from up here!" said Ruby among several other cries of surprise as they looked through the glass walls at the town below, "I guess home isn't too far after all!"

"Beacon's our home, now."

The two hear a passenger groaning and hunched over nearby, running to the back of the ship.

"Well... I guess the view isn't for everyone," says the half sister rolling her eyes.

"It was a nice moment while it lasted."

The ship is seen approaching Beacon across a large body of water.

"I wonder who we're gonna meet! I just hope they're better than Vomit Boy. Oh, Yang, gross! You have puke on your shoe!"

"Gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross!"

"Get-Get away! Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me!"
