One
Standing in front of my ceiling-to-floor window that overlooks the city of Atlanta, I try my best to block out my father's voice. Telling me that I made a weak move and that if I didn't get it fixed, my company would crash down. The thing is, his father - my grandfather - passed this company over to him. Before it was even passed down, the company was doing great. Better than any other company in the world, to be clear. My father had to mess it up by sleeping with the mayor's daughter and making it a one-night stand. But besides him, I'm doing a way better job than he has.
"Did you hear anything that I just told you?"
"Want the truth?" I asked, facing him.
"Of course."
"No," I said, taking my seat at my desk. "Thank you for wanting to help me and my company, but I have everything under control."
"So, you'd rather not sleep with Mr. Donavan's so and run your company into the ground?"
"I'd rather do anything but listen to a man who ran his company into the ground," I said as my PA, Jenny walked in. "Let alone, scared of having to carry the heat of the mess he made and passed it to his daughter."
There's one thing that I know about my father. He hates being reminded of things that I've gotten him in too much heat. I just do it because I love how it pisses him off.
Not wanting nor expecting him to say anything, I looked over at Jenny.
"The press is wondering if they'll get a response from you."
"Yes," I sighed, standing. "Tell Mother I said hello."
Patting his shoulder, I followed Jenny as she led me toward the elevator. Inside, I pressed the lobby button to where the press connect was being held. To pass the time, I went on my phone to look through emails. Since my office was on the ninth floor, I was a little confused as to way it had stopped on the sixth floor. Realizing that someone was going to enter with us, I moved over to the other side of the elevator.
If I had to ride with someone in an elevator, I never acknowledged them, but for some reason, this reason, this time I did, and all I have to say is God please help me.
Two good-looking men had walked in. They both had clean shaves but only one, the older-looking one, had a beard. Not too long, but at the perfect length. They were both mouth-watering by how muscular they were.
Nodding to me, I looked back to my phone as I felt both men staring at me. Now here I am wishing that I would do things because if they did, I'd be fully naked by now.
"Are you new here?" the younger one asked.
"No." was all I said.
I play hard to get. What can I say?
"So what does a sexy girl like you have to do here?" He asked, causing his friend, to sigh.
"Jenny," I said, looking to see that we were now on the third floor.
"This is Niki Antonelli. The owner of Antonelli Enterprise." She announced to them.
"Wait. As in the daughter of Shermen Antonelli?"
"And who's wanting to know?" I asked, turning around. And oh my God. These men were so good-looking. If only Jenny wasn't here.
"Drake, calm down," the older man chuckled. "Sherman isn't in charge. It's his hot daughter."
"I like Drake better," I laughed, turning back to face the doors as we arrived on our floor. "I felt sexy and he called me just that."
"Well, then," this man said as he pressed up against my back. Making sure that I could feel how hard he was. "My apologies, sexy."
Before I could turn around and jump this man's bones, the doors opened. Not even wanting to make a 'come and get me' scene, I almost ran out of the elevator with Jenny behind me. I needed to get away from these boys.
Finding my breath, I walked into the lobby that was filled up with reporters. Jenny leads me to a table that faces the press. As I take my seat, I sigh in relief when I notice that there are two empty seats.
"Okay. Can we get this over with already?" I asked.
"Surprisingly, no," Jenny said. "We're waiting on two more people."
Before I could ask who those two people were, both Drake and his... friend walked in and all eyes fell on them. I didn't care for the reporter but it was the women that pissed me off. But then at the same time, why would I care? These men are hot and want to be fucked by them, but they're nothing but a distraction. That's something I don't need.
"Hello again, sexy." the older one whispered into my ear before they took their seats.
Feeling hot all over, people started calling my name.
"Yes."
"Is it true that you broke the contract with your company and the Donvan company?"
"That is correct," I responded slowly, wondering why these two hot guys were in my press conference.
"Mr. Colten Donvan, how do you feel about a woman who broke your father's contract that was originally made by Shermen Antonelli?"
Donvan?! These men are Joe Donovan's son? Well, that's a turn-off.
"Well, my brother and myself have only briefly met with Ms. Antonelli and she seems like a nice woman," Colten stated. "Now, as to why she broke the contract, I guess that she wanted to change some things since her father had the company before her."
Well, that was hot.
"We have sources that your father tried to get Ms. Antonelli in bed but she turned him down," the reporter asked Colten inside of me. "Is that true?"
"Respectfully, ask her," Colten said, looking over at me. "She was the one who had to go through it."
At this, everyone turned their eyes to me, waiting for my response.
"Yes. This is true."
After my small response, all the reporters have jotted it down. Their reasons, well, I could care less. All I wanted to do was go home and sleep. I've been up all night dealing with too much press B.S. I just wanted to get out of here.
The press conference continued and all reporters' questions were only towards Drake and Colten even though this conference was for me but this was nothing new. Some reporters still think my father is running the business until they look me up.
"Hang on," Colten said, stopping a reporter. "This is Ms. Antonelli's press conference and you and every reporter here have only asked my brother and me questions as if Ms. Antonelli isn't here in the room with us."
"Well, Ms. Antonelli is a woman."
"So?" I asked.
"Women, in my opinion, have no business being in the high-end company place." a reporter stated as I stood up with Jenny at my side.
"Well, then," I said. "In my opinion, all women are capable of working and owning a company. And because you said this, as the owner of Antonelli Enterprise, I have connections to get you fired."
With nothing left to say, I left the room with Jenny behind me. Heading back to my office, my mind went back to Colten. Trying to get him outta my head, I gave up. I could've had Jenny get his number, but I wanted to play hard to get it. I'll let him go mad crazy over me before I start anything.
