Chapter 6
| Your P.O.V | A year ago |
Evening.. Almost midnight..
You were walking down the hallways of the castle, searching for your sick mother who was accompanied by your big sister, until you heard a scream coming from the room at the corner. When you rushed over and opened the door of the music room, you immediately spotted a large werewolf, facing the wall as it ate your mother alive under the moonlight. The color from your face immediately disappeared. You stood frozen in fear next to the door, staring at the large beast before you.
He was ten times bigger than a normal werewolf and his size was taking half of the room. If he could have opened his mouth any wider he would have eaten your mother in one bite. The silver wolf took off your mother's head in one massive chomp of his sharp teeth. Then he crunched it up with his mouth opening every time he chewed.
Your mother's blood had poured as easily as water from a garden hose in a steady but dying rhythm. Then the werewolf gulped it down and without pausing to breathe he took another swinging bite at the leg. He ate rapidly, stuffing his mouth. When finally coming back to your senses, you realized that your sister had already been eaten and you instinctively call out your deceased family members' names.
"Mother!! Adelaide!!" You cried out at the top of your lungs, averting the wolf's attention to you. Your own scream tore through you like a great shard of glass. You felt your eyes widen and pulse quicken, your heart thudding like a rock rattling in box. The large werewolf stopped, turning his ominous gaze on you. His eyes surprisingly had two different colors, a left eye that was as yellow as the sun and the right red as blood.
The white wolf let out a rich, low, warning growl, his lips pulling back to show large, dagger like fangs, a feet in length and as white as ivory. His snarl pulled his lips away from his razor-sharp canines again as his tail quivered and bristled. Slowly, it took a threatening step forward, lunging for you without warning.
Your eyelids slowly flickered open to the unlit dining room, realizing that it was another awful dream. No. It was a memory. "Good evening, [y/n]" Your head shot up as soon as you heard the prince's voice. You noticed that you were seated on the table opposite him. The moonlight coming from the windows made it shine to a shade of melting milk and his pale skin glowed along with his brown orbs.
"Pardon my indecent behavior, your highness" you calmly replied, almost stuttering. "If it is not rude of me to ask, how long have you been here?" you spoke, barely coherent.
Ren picked up the glass of wine on the table before responding, "a few minutes ago. Perhaps you have fallen asleep right after eating" Ren addressed smoothly, turning his gaze to the window, causing his delicate blond hair fall onto his brow, skin so pale it rendered him stark under the moonlight coming from the windows of the dining hall. He looked angelic.
"Is that red wine?" you questioned, sitting up properly as you glanced at the glass of wine in his hands. It was a crimson-coloured Moselle, very soft, rich and beautiful, though the color of the wine seemed odd. It was too red.
Ren took a sip before replying, his adam's apple bobbed violently and the liquor looked as if it was going to drizzle from both sides of his thin pink lips. "Yes, it is. Would you like some?" His tone casual and light. "Say, princess [y/n]— do you believe in vampires and werewolves?" He asked skeptically as his face tightened.
"I do" you bluntly confessed which was soon followed by a, "why?" Ren immediately replied, carefully placing the glass of wine on the table.
"Why are you asking me this?" You added, furrowing your brows as you tried to figure out the reason why he asked out of the blue.
"I suddenly got curious of the subject. Do you dislike this topic because something happened in the past? But you don't have to tell me. Humans are such fragile creatures when it comes to bringing up something repulsive that has already happened" The left side of his faint red lip tugged upwards creating a sinister smirk on his god like face; casting a spell of lust to eyes that dare look his way.
"Aren't you human too, your highness?" You pointed out with a puzzled expression plastered on your face.
Ren held his breath behind pursed lips to steel himself against the gales of laughter to come, ignoring your question "What is the difference between werewolves and vampires?" He peered your way, his face fading into a serious expression.
"Vampires have deep red eyes, their speed and strength is inhuman and they drink human blood to survive. However, the wolves's eyes are different from them because it can be either gold or silver. They eat human flesh unlike vampires who drink blood and they have a keen sense of smell-" you stated, clasping your hands together under the table, taking quick glances of him. "Am I right?" you added, unsure.
"Yes, that is correct. But the question is, can a vampire and werewolf have a child? If so, what would the child look like? How powerful do you think would it be?" Ren questioned, looking at you through hardened eyes.
"What you're saying has never happened yet.." with that statement, Ren blinked and for a moment after opening his eyes, his brown orbs glazed like honey and turned into million shades of gold as moonlight from the floor to ceiling windows reflected off them. You stared into them, they weren't just a normal brown, they were seriously yellow.
"Ren— your eyes" you mumbled, pointing at him "they're—" then you stopped from finishing your words because of his glare. It felt like it sucked something out of you. You visibly wilted before his first clipped word was uttered.
"What about it?" Ren raised and eyebrow, waiting for an answer. His eyes were narrowed, rigid, cold, hard. You drew in a deep breath before responding.
You let out a slow controlled breath and attempted to loosen your body movements before replying. "Nothing.." You spoke, almost inaudible as you stood up from your seat. "Goodnight" was all you could say, and walked your way to the stairway without looking back nor saying another word.
