[16] Worried

Kelsey's POV

"Where are you taking me, Stiles? I don't like being blindfolded and we've been walking for ages." I continued to moan as Stiles led me towards a mystery location. I didn't like the fact that I was blindfolded and having no idea where we were walking towards. I knew we were outside as I could smell the damp mossy ground, flowers and the fresh cool air. Though I'm not sure what we would be doing in the middle of the woods at night oh god, he's not taking me to find a dead body is he? I am not in that mood tonight.

"Oh come on, it's been less than ten minutes, we're almost there."

"We better be." I sigh. Feels like we've been walking for much longer than that, though maybe it's because I've got this stupid blindfold on. I hate not seeing where I'm going, just reminds me of that night Stiles and I went camping with Scott and I went to go pee but everything was pitch black and I couldn't find my phone to use a torch, then it all went downhill from there, but I'm not going to relive that part of my memory from that day.

"Okay. We're here." Stiles said as he carefully removed the blindfold from my face. My eyes had to readjust a little to the bright lights that emerged, and once they did, my mouth dropped. "Oh my god." I spoke, trying to find the right words to say. Stiles may have taken me to the woods but this, this is something else. "This is— this is so beautiful, Stiles." I smile whilst taking in every detail.

Stiles had put a couple blankets down on the floor, pillows to make it more comfortable, lanterns around the blankets and fairy lights twirled around some of the trees that surrounded us. "Are you sure? It not too much is it because I can take you someplace else and—"

Before Stiles could finish his sentence, I pulled him into a tight hug and kissed his cheek. "I love it, thank you." I smiled again, feeling my heart glow and stomach flutter. It was perfect, something I had been dreaming for someone to do for me, and here Stiles is doing just that. He really knows me so well.

"I bought some food for us to eat but first I have another surprise," Stiles spoke, shuffling around his pockets before pulling out his phone and pressing a few buttons until a song started to play. As soon as it started, I knew what song it was; The Funeral by Band of Horses. It was one of the songs Stiles and I danced to at the winter formal, one we grew to love the more we played it. Our song.

"Shall we?" Stiles held out his hand, gesturing for us to dance. I accepted, moving closer to the best person ever. I don't deserve all this, he shouldn't have put in all this effort just for me, how can I ever thank him for this? He spoils me. I still can't believe how beautiful all this is. It really is perfect.

"Stiles, you've really taken me by surprise, this date is living up to be one of the best I've ever had. Thank you." I tell him. He didn't have to do this but I'm glad he did, I really needed this. "I just wanted to cheer you up and make you feel special." He said as he spun me around and pulled me towards him again.

"You did so much more than that. Stiles, no one has ever done anything like this for me before." I say whilst wrapping my arms around his neck, moving us closer together. "Well, they didn't deserve you. I just want you to be happy." Stiles spoke as his eyes glanced over at mine. I could tell he really meant what he said, he's always wanted nothing but happiness for me.

"I'm happiest when I'm with you," I confessed, playing with Stiles' hair and meeting his hazel eyes. He really does make me happy. Stiles blushed, his lips parted as if she was going to say something but he hesitated. If only we can live in this moment forever, things would be so much easier and better. "Kelsey," Stiles called, finally managing to open his mouth.

"Yes?" I replied, still playing with his hair and swaying to the song. "Kelsey, wake up," Stiles uttered. Huh? "What?" I asked, confused. What does he mean wake up? I'm most certainly awake, though what Stiles has done for me this evening feels like a dream, it's almost too good to be true but I love it nonetheless.

"WAKE UP!" Stiles yelled causing me to jump and then everything around me faded into black.

I could feel someone tapping at my arm causing me to open my eyes. "Kelsey, wake up!" A voice shouted. I couldn't tell who spoke as my eyes were still adjusting but I knew it wasn't Stiles. "What's going on?" I asked groggily as I sat up and rubbed my eyes. What time is it? Did I oversleep again? Oh gosh, I was meant to go home after the movie and I must've fallen asleep.

"Where's Stiles?" A familiar voice questioned. Lydia. Why was she here? What a crazy yet amazing dream that was. It's been a while since I've had a good dream, such a shame it was cut short but hey-ho. "I don't know, the toilet maybe?" I tell her, wiping the stray hairs out of my face.

Once my eyes fully adjusted, it was revealed that Lydia wasn't the only person in the room with me, Aiden was here too. Great. "Already checked." He spoke. I looked at him confused and not really knowing what to say before thinking where Stiles might be since he didn't say anything. "Well I don't know then, he didn't say he was leaving, he would've woke me."

Lydia was still like she was focusing on something. Her facial expression made me uneasy when she made eye contact with me. "I hear something." She announced before rushing upstairs. Furrowing my brows, I turn to Aiden. "How did you get in here?" I asked standing up from the couch and put my hair up into a messy bun.

"There was a key under the plant pot." He replied before following Lydia up the stairs, and me not far behind. "Lydia what's wr" My sentence was cut short when I entered Stiles' room. Oh my god, what the hell happened? Red pieces of string surrounded his room, they hung from wall to wall and connected to the middle of his bed with scissors that had been impaled into the mattress.

I remember Stiles had some red strings hanging on his wall but it wasn't to this extent and it certainly wasn't connected to his bed. This isn't right. Lydia was about to say something when Scott and Isaac burst through the door. "How did you know? Did he call you too?" Scott asked frantically.

"I heard it," Lydia responded.

Heard it? What is she on about, what did she hear and when did Stiles call Scott? Ugh, my head is starting to hurt. "Don't ask. It gets more confusing when you ask." Aiden interjected. Well, maybe I need to ask because I haven't a clue what's going on. Isaac let out a quiet "Okay" before looking in my direction. I gave him a slight smile before averting my gaze.

"Not as confusing as this," Lydia spoke as she spun back around to face the room, myself included. I thought back to when Stiles was putting up the strings before, I watched him from his bed and asked what the strings meant. "He uses red for unsolved cases," I announced.

"Maybe he thinks he's part of an unsolved case?" Aiden brought up.

"Or is an unsolved case." Isaac included.

"Okay, can someone please tell me what's going on." I request, turning to my brother since he seems like he knows the answers. "Stiles called me and said he's in an industrial basement somewhere." That makes no sense, why would Stiles leave the house by himself and at this time of night? Surely he would have woken me?

"We came here to get a better scent." Isaac continued.

"What else did he say? Is he still out there?" I asked instinctively, feeling more worried about Stiles now that he's somewhere in a building by myself. It's such a cold night, one of the coldest I think it's meant to be tonight, he could get hyperthermia. "He said something's wrong with his leg. It's bleeding. And he's freezing."

He's hurt. Oh god, he's hurt and he's in the cold. This is bad, this is really bad. He's bleeding and he's all alone and he could get worse if we don't get to him in time. "Tonight's the coldest night of the year. It's going to drop into the 20s." Aiden added, putting me more on edge about Stiles' situation. He could be anywhere and we're just standing here doing nothing. Stiles' dad must be worried sick.

"What did his dad say?" I interrogated, trying to keep my cool.

"We kind of didn't tell him yet," Scott said.

Why wouldn't he tell Stilinski that his son is missing, cold and bleeding in the middle of an industrial building which is probably abandoned for all we know. "Stiles is bleeding and freezing and you didn't call his dad?" Lydia questioned my brother and Isaac. Are they stupid? This is an emergency and they don't think to tell the cops? To tell Stiles' own dad?

"He made me promise not to. We can find him by scent. If he was sleepwalking he couldn't have gotten far, right?" Oh, Scott, surely he knows we have to tell Stilinski, we can't just have our own little search party. We need more people looking before it's too late. "You didn't notice his Jeep is gone, did you?" Aiden told my brother.

"You promised you wouldn't call his dad. I didn't." Lydia mentioned as she got out her phone and started dialling but Scott interrupted. "Wait, Lydia, hold on. I can get more help. I can call Derek, Allison." Is he being serious? Stiles is in trouble, he could be dying right now for all we know, especially if he's bleeding and freezing.

"Everyone except for the cops. Great idea." I added, feeling frustrated.

"You guys remember Lydia gets these feelings when someone's about to die, right?" Aiden brought up, reminding everyone. At least he knows how serious this is. "You don't have to call his dad. It's five minutes to the station." Scott said, finally making more sense of himself. We were all about to leave Stiles' room when Lydia held Aiden back from following. "We'll catch up."

"What? Why?" Scott asked, turning to face Lydia.

"There's something here." She disclosed.

"Yeah. Evidence of total insanity." Isaac said as he scanned the room. Hearing that just made my heart sink, Isaac wasn't entirely wrong. Whatever this is, it's not normal and Stiles is in a worse state than I thought. "We can figure out what's wrong with him after we find a way to keep him from freezing to death," Scott spoke. I could see the concern on his face, though I knew he was trying to be strong for everyone.

"Go. We'll be right behind you." Lydia uttered before Isaac and Scott made their exit out of Stiles' room. I followed in suit once I had grabbed one of Stiles' t-shirts from the side and shoved it in my bag before leaving the house. Sniffer dogs may need it to find Stiles' scent.

Once the three of us arrived at the station to inform Stilinski about his son, I pulled out my phone to let Derek know what was happening and ask for help. "I'm going to call Derek," I told the boys. Scott nodded his head as he and Isaac entered the building.

***

Once Scott told Stiles' dad what was going on, Stilinski told Parrish to put an APB on Stiles's Jeep which ended up being parked outside the hospital and it was completely dead. Stiles' dad thinks the lights were left on but all I kept thinking about was how Stiles managed to drive whilst asleep and not crash. And why would Stiles come back to the hospital after we left? Doesn't make any sense. "He's not here. Not anymore." Derek spoke as myself, Scott and Isaac arrived on the roof.

"You mean the whole building?" I questioned.

"Gone." Where the hell could Stiles be then? His car is here, he couldn't have gone far, surely and especially if he's sleepwalking. "I'll go tell Stilinski," Isaac announced from behind myself and Scott. Good idea, we need to split up and expand our search for Stiles. "And see if you can find Allison. She's not answering her phone." Scott added before Isaac went off.

I scanned the area to see if something stood out but nothing did, maybe I'm just too distracted with what's going on in my head. Trying to focus, I walked towards Derek and Scott did the same. "Notice how strong the scent is up here? Ever hear of chemosignals? Chemical signals that communicate emotion. And just our sweat can give off anger, fear or disgust. Take a deep breath and tell me what you feel." Derek instructed. Doing as he said, I took a deep breath, closing my eyes to concentrate better.

"Stress," Scott answered.

"And anxiety." I added.

"What was he doing up here?" My brother asked.

"I don't know. But there was definitely some kind of struggle." Derek brought up causing me to worry more if that was possible. There's literally nothing up here, why would it cause Stiles stress and anxiety? Did he have a fight with someone? I just hope we find him soon and see if there's something else other than lack of sleep because his bedroom is not sitting right. "With who?" I enquired.

"Himself." I felt a sinking feeling wash over me as soon as Derek had said that. What if Stiles is the one the dark spirit has chosen to possess? I don't want to believe it's true and maybe this is just another effect caused by the nemeton tree but I don't know, Stiles hasn't been himself, not completely anyway. I'm probably just overthinking like usual.

"I'll go check the high school, see if anyone knows anything," Derek revealed, squeezing my shoulder before leaving the roof. I feel like this is somehow my fault, I was right next to Stiles and I didn't even notice he was gone and now he's in trouble. We need more people looking for Stiles and yet the only other person who comes to mind is Peter, everyone else has already been involved.

"I'm going to text Lydia and update her, then I'm going back to the station, you coming?" Scott asked me, holding his phone in his hand. I haven't spoken or seen Peter for a while but I know he doesn't live far from here if I run to his apartment. That's if he's even there. It's worth a shot, and if he's not there then I'll just meet with Scott at the station. "You go, I'll catch up."

Scott nodded in response before making his exit off the rooftop. Once I could hear he was out of range, I grabbed my face with frustration and let out a scream. How could I have let this happen? Why didn't I notice something sooner? Stiles didn't seem off but I shouldn't have fallen asleep, I should've woken up and stopped him from leaving.

Shaking off my thoughts and pulling myself together, I left the roof and exited the hospital before running downtown to Peter's apartment. There was no point calling him as he hadn't picked up any of my other calls. He's either avoiding me or he just never checks his phone, either way, it's annoying. Reaching the building, I let myself in after some guy kindy held the door open for me before making my way up the stairs towards Peter's door.

I knocked a few times, not really expecting anyone to answer but what do you know, the door opens. "What do you want?" Peter asked groggily. Well, I suppose it would seem I have awoken the beast. I haven't seen him in weeks or months and that's all I get? Rude but expected. "I need your help," I announce, pushing past him to go inside.

Peter rolled his eyes. "No, it's not happening." Of course, he'd say no when I haven't even told him what I need help with, not that it would make much of a difference but I'm out of options here. Stiles needs more people with abilities such as my own to go out searching for him. "Come on, here me out." I plead, whilst fiddling with my bag strap in frustration.

Peter let out a sigh as he closed his door. "I have better things to do Kelsey, don't waste my time." Better things to do, like what? Does he have a hobby? Has he even left his apartment because I haven't seen him around? I'm getting off track here. Peter has to help, who else can I turn to that hasn't already been informed. I'm going out of my mind.

"It's the coldest night of the year and Stiles is missing, he could be bleeding and no one has found him. Please, I wouldn't ask you if I wasn't desperate." I raise, making sure he realises the seriousness of the matter and how much I need his help. "That's true but I don't help for nothing." Seriously, he wants a favour in return now? What could he possibly want from me?

"What do you want?" I roll my eyes.

"I don't know yet, you'll just have to owe me." Peter smiled suspiciously. Well great, I feel like I've made a deal with the devil. On the other hand, I'm glad he's agreed to help. Aiden and Lydia are probably still looking for clues in Stiles' room. Scott is at the Sheriff's station getting help there. Isaac is finding Allison to help, god knows why, and Derek is searching the school, so I'm thinking Peter and I explore the woods and see if we can catch Stiles' scent. Good thing I brought this t-shirt, Peter can use it.

"Great, well whilst you think about that can you take us to the woods, I don't think anyone has looked there yet," I suggest, walking back towards the door, signalling we leave now. Getting the message, Peter threw on a coat and grabbed his keys from the side. "We'll take my car." He said, opening the door.

"Can I drive?" I requested.

"No," Peter said without hesitation as he shot down the stairs.
