Kelsey's POV

I was half asleep when I heard my phone vibrate continuously. Great, I forgot to put it on 'do not disturb' again. Resisting the urge to groan and throw my phone across the room, I rolled my body around and faced the other way in an attempt to ignore it – not that it made a difference really; my super-hearing could still hear my phone still going off. "You should probably answer that, it could be important." I sighed, opening my eyes to Jake beside me. My phone probably woke him up too.

"How long have you been up for?" I asked tiredly as I wiped under my eyes. I feel terrible... probably due to lack of sleep, or maybe because I'm not sleeping in a bed I'm used to. Man, so much happened last night, most of it I still don't quite understand, but then a part of me doesn't want to, although I might not have any control over that.

But in all seriousness, what the hell did those masked men want? And what the hell was up with me? I was all fine and dandy having fun before I saw Stiles and that girl locking lips. It was like something came over me... which is why I thought it would be best I stayed somewhere else last night, just in case that girl went back home with Stiles. Luckily for me, Jake was still awake and kindly offered me his bed. "An hour and a half maybe, I'm not sure," Jake answered.

Perhaps I'm being a little protective when I say this, but I really hope that girl didn't take advantage of Stiles, he deserves so much more than a one night stand. Although I keep wondering if he had just that. I didn't sleep around his last night so he could have. I mean good for him, it's great, really. "You look so gorgeous when you're sleeping," Jake added, bringing me back from my thoughts.

I smiled, not taking much notice of what he said, or the fact that he was now stroking my cheek. "Oh thanks, does that mean I'm not when I'm awake then." I laughed, trying to pretend to be somewhat serious and offended. "Shut up, you know you're gorgeous Kelsey." He laughed whilst playfully rolling his eyes, and I had done the same in return. There were a few seconds of silence before I noticed Jake was slowly moving closer.

I knew what was coming, it was pretty obvious he was about to kiss me. Apart of me just wanted to slap him away but I didn't. There's just something alluring about him. Something that I can't quite wrap my head around. I'm intrigued by him, captivated. I wasn't backing away, but I didn't move closer either. His eyes gazed into mine, luring me in as a siren does to a sailor.

Then as he glanced at my lips, a fluttering feeling in my stomach emerged right before Jake's lips connected with mine. Our lips moved in sync for a few minutes before it began to get heated. I could feel his hand gently caress my thigh, slowly travelling down my underwear but before he could do anything else, Jake's phone began to ring. "Fuck." He cursed into my lips, clearly not happy about the interruption.

Removing his hand from my underwear, he quickly rolled around to grab his phone from the nightstand. "Shit, I have to take this, sorry Kelsey," Jake said apologetically as he scurried out of the bed, answering the phone and trying to hide the fact that he had a boner. "What's up, I was in the middle of something," Jake said with annoyance to the person at the other end of the phone before going into another room.

"Holy shit." I cursed to myself. If Jake's phone didn't ring just then, I'm pretty sure that might have escalated into something more intense. I couldn't stop myself, it was like I was under a spell. I know I don't want to be with Jake, I mean sure he's basically a Greek god, but no, I can't. He's not right for me. Besides, I don't think I'm ready for something serious yet, my head is all over the place, I don't even know what I want.

I could hear Jake pacing up and down in the other room, still on the phone, and it doesn't sound like he was happy about the conversation he was having. Turning back around, I grabbed my phone and saw that I had five missed calls from Stiles, two missed calls from Scott, as well as a few messages basically all saying that I need to talk to Stiles and meet him with Scott about something.

I'm guessing they probably want to talk about last night. Great, well school should be starting soon, so I suppose I should hop in the shower and get dressed quickly. Not waiting for Jake's permission to have a shower, I grab a clean towel that was neatly folded on the side before making my way into the bathroom.

I wonder if the reason Stiles wants to talk to myself and Scott is to tell us that he lost his virginity and that girl is now his girlfriend. Or it could be about the masked men, though I don't remember Stiles seeing them there; he would've been in Derek's loft when everyone left. Scott probably updated him on everything that happened last night anyway.

Snapping out of my thoughts, I began taking off the little clothes I had on, twisting the knob of the tap to turn on the shower. For a few seconds, I waited for the temperature to turn from cold to hot before I got in, flinching a little as I adjusted to the heat. The pressure of the water was just right as it touched my skin. I couldn't feel more relaxed.

Closing my eyes, I ran my fingers through my hair and took a few deep breaths before thoroughly washing my body with Jake's coconut shower gel I found on the side, next my hair but since I saw no shampoo, shower gel would have to make-do. For a few more minutes after washing off all the suds, I stood under the water a little longer before drying myself off and wrapping the towel around my body.

"Feeling any better?" Jake asked as I exited the bathroom.

"Much better, thanks." I smiled while trailing off back to the bedroom. "So who was on the phone earlier?" I continued, curious to know why he seemed so annoyed. Maybe it was his sister? Jake was silent for a few seconds, scratching the back of his head. "Oh no one really, just a friend of mine, you don't know them." He brushed off, following me to the bedroom. Huh, okay then. He probably doesn't want to talk about it, I get it. I won't push him.

Besides, I need to get dressed anyway, no time for talking. "Want me to make you breakfast or something while you get dressed," Jake added as he plopped himself down on the bed. "I'm alright actually, but I could use a little privacy please." I smiled politely. Jake smiled back as he stood up again, taking a shirt and skinny jeans from the side. "Of course, I'll be downstairs if you want me." And with that, Jake was gone and so was the towel around my body.

Unfortunately, I don't have any clean clothes, so I'll just have to wear the same thing I wore yesterday, awesome. Sighing to myself, I reluctantly dried my hair as best I could with the towel and got dressed. Soon enough, Jake and I made our way out the door and hopped on my motorbike. "Ride us to school princess," Jake said as he wrapped his arms around me tight before we drove off.

It wasn't long before we arrived outside Beacon Hills High School. "Thanks for the ride sweetheart, you coming over again later?" Jake asked with a smirk as we got off my motorbike. Oh god, I hope he doesn't think I'm going to make a habit of staying over. It was just that once unless Stiles has a girl over. "Not sure, depends on Stiles," I replied, pushing my hair back so it's not in my face.

I really hope I can just stay around Stiles' tonight, if not then I might just go back home, though I wouldn't feel comfortable if Isaac is still hanging around there; it'll just get awkward and things may result in another argument. I'm not going to lie, I do miss mom, Scott, too. "Fair enough. Have a good day, Kelsey." Jake sang as he walked off into the distance.

"Why were you round his house last night?" An all too familiar voice questioned from behind. I let out a sigh and rolled my eyes before I turned to look at him. "I really don't want to talk right now; I've got places to be Isaac," I said sternly as I grabbed my backpack. Isaac was silent for a while, almost as if he was lost in his thoughts – which is when I noticed Allison watching a few feet away... She's probably wondering why Isaac is standing here talking to me, then again, so am I.

For a second, mine and Allison's eyes caught each other's. "Did you hook up?" Isaac asked, causing me to break eye contact from Allison. For god's sake, is he really doing this? "Not that it's any of your business but no, we didn't," I told him as I began to walk off but was stopped by a hand grabbing mine. "Wait–wait, please. Can we not do this, I hate that I don't get to see you anymore."

I hate it too, but nothing feels the same. Isaac and I have both changed, and whether that's for the best, I don't know. I'm not afraid to admit that I miss Isaac because I do, I miss him a lot. I miss the good times we had, I miss his company, even being in the same room as him. But that doesn't mean I miss being in a relationship with him, I know I don't love him anymore, I think he knows that too. "Isaac I can't just forgive you and forget what happened, everything you said... You really hurt me."

"I know and I'm sorry. Look I didn't mean what I said; I was just angry, okay? It was like something took over me." He tried to explain. Something took over him? Why was he angry at me when I hadn't done anything wrong? Okay, yes I got paranoid but my intentions were right to be, I knew I wasn't making anything up.

And the whole Jake thing, he was flirting with me – I'll admit I should've told him to back off since I was with Isaac at the time, but I didn't. Perhaps it's because I wanted the attention since my boyfriend at the time wasn't giving me any, or maybe a part of me wanted to make Isaac feel what I was feeling. I don't know. We were both at fault; Isaac just went a little too far than needed.

"That doesn't excuse you."

"You're right, it doesn't." Isaac appeared to look awkward as he scratched the back of his neck. A habit I knew he had when he wanted to say something but didn't know how to go about it. "Is something wrong?" I asked. Initially, I wanted to just end this conversation and go but if he was in trouble, I don't think I have the heart to leave him to struggle.

"Uh, nothing's wrong. I just thought it was time to give this back," I furrowed my brows, confused for a moment as something heavy was placed in my palm. When I had the chance to inspect what it was, I inhaled deeply. "Your spare key." I exhale, looking at it. Flashes of when I first gave him the key appeared in my mind, the excitement as well as the promise of commitment and trust, me opening my space for him and becoming his home. This key symbolised so much, our history together and how deep our love was.

I didn't know how to react other than pocketing the keys and clearing my throat to avoid the wave of emotions I felt attempting to consume me. I knew it was over, his behaviour made sure of that. But this finalised it, it was like putting a big fat nail in the coffin. "Give this key away to one of your boy toys, I don't care. I don't need it anymore." Isaac appeared dismissive, but I knew it was a reaction to my silence and he could probably sense how emotional I was getting. "That's the last thing I want," I mutter.

I wasn't looking to start anything, I'm in pain and I don't know if I can fully trust anyone anymore. "Thanks, I guess I'll see you around," I spoke, not really knowing what else to say. "Wait—" The way he grabbed my arm as I walked away surprised me. And by the look of his face, it surprised him also. "What?" Dread overcame me as I locked eyes with him. Here it was, he couldn't let me leave without making me cry.

"Piece of advice, stay away from that Jake guy. He's bad news." And with that, he let go of my arm and walked away. Holding back the tears, I took in a deep breath before making my way inside. This is not the time to cry, I need to be strong. I relaxed a little when I saw Stiles in the distance, he looked stressed. That can't be good. "Hey." Stiles greeted me as I got closer. I was about to ask if he was alright before my brother turned up and interrupted.

"Shall we go in then?" Stiles nodded in response before making his way into the chemistry classroom. He went on about the girl he kissed last night which is when I zoned out and started fidgeting with a piece of scrunched up paper left on one of the tables. "So then she starts talking about phosphors and the key having chemicals on it, right? And so that made me think of the chemistry closet and the fact that someone had to let Barrow in..." Stiles went on.

"It's gone." Stiles seemed confused, he'd clearly been up all night trying to figure this all out – and he doesn't look too good either. Maybe that girl didn't go back to his place, after all, he would've told us by now if she had. Unless he's keeping it to himself. "Okay, it doesn't matter though. It doesn't matter. I've still got the key." Stiles continued as he fumbled around his pockets.

"What the hell? I had it, I had it here. I had it here this morning; I swear to God, I had it this morning." He told us, even more, confused than before. What is he on about? What did he have this morning that he doesn't have now? "The key you were talking about last night?" Scott questioned. What key? Okay, now I'm confused.

Stiles looked up at Scott. "Yeah, I showed it to you, right? Didn't I show it to you?" I know I didn't get shown a key, I didn't know anything about it – probably because I was zoned out for the majority of yesterday. Or maybe this is one of the side effects Stiles is getting from the Nemeton tree; an imaginary key. Who knows. Scott was dazed in his thoughts. "No, you just told me about it. I never actually saw it." Huh, strange.

Stiles' breath quickened a little as he looked at the board again, walking towards it. "I was here a couple of hours ago. And the message left to Barrow spelling Kira's name was right there on the board in my handwriting and I had the key to the chemistry closet." Maybe someone just rubbed off the writing from the board? Probably the cleaners, it would make sense.

"So you unlocked the chemistry closet so Barrow could hide in it from the cops and then you wrote him a message to kill Kira?" I questioned, still baffled by everything Stiles was saying. Stiles began to pull out something from his pocket. "I know how it sounds. But look at this. This is the news report that came out about Barrow when they caught him, okay? About the shrapnel bomb that he used. See this? See what he did? He put nuts, bolts and screws. And then he hid the bomb and the detonator in a box that he wrapped as a birthday present. What does that sound like to you?" He asked.

"Coach. The joke we played on Coach." Scott answered, which is when Stiles' voice got all panicky. "That was my idea. You remember? That was my idea. That's no coincidence. It can't be." Okay, now I'm worried. It's not that I think Stiles tried to kill Kira, that's crazy, Stiles wouldn't do such a thing. But he seems so convinced himself that he did it, that's what's worrying me. "I don't want to sound like I'm trying to tell you that you're wrong. But I don't think you're trying to kill people either." Scott said somewhat reassuringly before Stiles screwed up the newspaper report in his hand, staring at the board. "It was here. It was all here."

"Stiles, are you feeling okay? You're looking really tired." I asked concerned as I watched my best friend. He looked at me with a brief smile, though I could tell he was putting it on. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just haven't been sleeping really." I glanced at my brother and nudged him to say something. It was obvious he needed some rest, and the only way he'd get that is if he went home to rest.

"Why don't you go home? Take a sick day or something." My brother suggested as he lightly tapped Stiles' shoulder. Stiles doesn't look good at all, in fact, I might take him home myself, or better yet I'll take him to the hospital, see if my mom can help him sleep. Surely she can prescribe him something that'll take the edge off. Stiles nodded slightly before my brother left the two of us alone.

There's no way I'm letting him drive in his current state. "Come on, I'll drive you. Give me your keys." I said, holding out my hand. Reluctantly, Stiles handed over his keys before we left the classroom. I wasn't bothered about missing school – I should be, my grades have dropped down a little in a few classes but it shouldn't be hard to bring them back up. "Where were you last night? I didn't hear you come in." Stiles interrogated as we walked to his Jeep.

"I stayed around Jake's house, I wasn't sure if the girl you were kissing last night was heading back to yours," I answered, trying not to replay the event in my head whilst climbing into the driver's seat of the car. I could feel Stiles' eyes watching me as he had climbed into the car himself. "You stayed at Jake's house?" Stiles asked, surprised, his voice slightly high pitched. "Yeah, I had nowhere else to go and he offered so it worked out well," Stiles mumbled something under his breath as I started the car but I didn't bother to listen.

We were halfway near the hospital when Stiles decided to speak up. "She didn't come back with me, I left the party without her." Okay, not sure why he'd feel the need to tell me that but I guess that's good, no? Maybe Stiles feels bad that I had to find somewhere else to sleep. I was thinking of something to say when Stiles spoke again. "Did you and Jake get up to anything?"

I didn't say anything for a while, I wasn't sure how to or if I should. He's my best friend, I should tell him everything, but a part of me just doesn't want to. It's not that I'm ashamed, I don't know. Maybe I don't want him to think of me any differently or I just don't want to hurt him, not that it would. "We messed around a little, nothing came of it," I stated, turning the music up a little to avoid what I thought was coming; judgement.

"Oh okay." I could tell he had more to say but I didn't push, we had arrived at the hospital anyway. As we got out of the car, Stiles realised where we were and gave me a quizzed expression. The conversation probably distracted him. "I figured my mom or your own doctor could help you with your sleeping problems."

"I doubt anyone could help, Kelsey."

I arched my head a little before locking up the car. "Come on, it's worth trying, couldn't hurt." I tried to convince Stiles as I grabbed his hand, leading him towards the entrance of the hospital. Stiles didn't fight against it, I guess he knew it was a good idea, what other option did he have? As we reached the front desk, we caught the attention of my mom.

She was probably wondering why I wasn't in school but I suppose with everything that's been going on lately, she doesn't always question it. "Hi sweetie, Stiles. Can I help with anything?" Mom asked with a slightly rattled expression. "Is Dr Gardner in, I need to see him," Stiles answered. "Dr Gardner's not back until next week. Do you want to try waiting for one of the urgent care doctors or... Stiles. Are you alright?"

By this point Stiles looked even worse than he did earlier, worrying both me and my mom. "I don't know. I guess—I guess not really." I shared a pleading look with mom, hoping she could somehow help and she nodded in return. She knew she had to do something anyway, leaving Stiles like this wasn't a good idea. "Alright, kiddo. Come with me. It's okay." Mom said to Stiles, taking us to an empty patient room.

I briefly smiled at Stiles as he took off his hoodie and sat down on the bed, hoping that somehow it put him at ease. He smiled back but I could tell he was putting it on to pretend he was alright. Placing a patient form onto the table, mom got out her pen and started asking Stiles questions to determine his diagnosis. I zoned out when I got a text from Scott.

Scotty:

Hey, didn't get to talk to you before you left with Stiles. How is he feeling? Did you take him home?xx

I looked up to Stiles and my mom, listening to their conversation. Stiles looked really on edge, not that I'm surprised, he's been through a lot. And I could tell mom was worried about Stiles, so am I. "How many hours of sleep are you getting?" Mom asked Stiles. "Eight," Stiles replied as I grabbed his hoodie from the side, starting to feel a little cold.

"A night?" Mom queried. Eight hours seems like a normal amount of hours of sleep, perhaps he's getting confused? "In the last three days," Stiles confirmed, earning a concerned look from my mom. He's got eight hours of sleep in the last three days? What? How is that even possible? Must be one of the effects of the Nemeton tree. I don't remember him being awake at night, granted I was probably asleep but he'd usually wake me up if he was having trouble sleeping. Unlocking my phone, I open my brother's message and reply, keeping him in the loop but not saying too much to worry him.

Kelsey:

No worries, we'll chat later. And I took him to see mom at the hospital instead, thought it would be best considering how he is xx

Mom asked more questions about Stiles symptoms. It was clear that Stiles had more going on than I even realised. I doubt Scott knew the half of what Stiles is going through with everything he's got to deal with himself. How could I have not noticed Stiles was struggling this much? I feel like a terrible friend.

Scotty:

Ok, are you still there now?xx

"Been feeling irritable?" Mom inquired, which Stiles nodded his head to. "Yeah. Possibly to the point of homicide." Stiles doesn't seem like himself at all and I'd rather stay here with him than go back to school worrying about him all day. He probably could use the company, though mom might not be too happy about me missing school. "Inability to focus?"

Kelsey:

Yeah. I'm going to stay with Stiles, not coming back to school xx

I responded to my brother whilst listening to mom and Stiles. "No, the Adderall Isn't working." He should've come to the doctors as soon as things started getting worse. I know he may have thought it was due to the effects of the Nemeton tree but still, it's worrying. "Impulsive behaviour?" Mom continued.

"More than usual? Hard to tell." I'm probably just overthinking, Stiles is fine, he just needs sleep, a lot of it. Perhaps now that Isaac has given me back the spare key I gave him, I'll move back with mom and Scott tonight. It may be better for Stiles to get sleep, I'd hate to think I'm keeping him up.

Scotty:

Ok, that's fine. I'm taking Kira to the house after school, I think the Oni will come for her next. Will explain later. Bye xx

The oni after Kira, what? I guess that makes sense, she did absorb a lot of electricity the night Burrow came after her. But she definitely nothing like myself and Scott, a werewolf would be fried if that much electricity touched it. Whatever she is, I'm intrigued. There's probably a wide range of supernatural creatures that we haven't even thought of yet. Locking my phone, my full attention was on Stiles. "Vivid dreams during the day?" I wanted to hold his hand but I decided not to, at least not yet, maybe when mom leaves.

"Okay, basically all of the above," Stiles confessed.

"Do you know what this is?" I urged, curious to know what exactly was wrong with Stiles. I hope it's nothing serious, or if it is, I hope it's something that won't be permanent and can be cured. Mom nodded her head. "I think so." She said as she turned around with a needle in her hand, ready to inject Stiles. Oh god, why does there need to be a needle involved? Is it bad? Is Stiles going to be okay? "Uh, what's that?" Stiles asked worryingly.

"Do you trust me?"

"When you're not holding a needle." Stiles brought up. I'm sure Stiles is fine, if it was something serious then mom would consult other nurses or doctors first before injecting him. "It's Midazolam. A sedative." She said before inserting the needle into Stiles's upper arm. I stood up and moved closer towards Stiles as he slowly got drowsier. "Why'd you give me a sedative?" Stiles spoke lethargically.

He's so adorable when he's tired. "Because you, Stiles, are one profoundly sleep-deprived young man. You need rest and you need it now. Lie down." Mom instructed and she guided him. "Okay, how long does it take to– Oh, not long at all." Stiles finally laid down once the sedative started to kick in more. "I'm going to stay with you until you wake up, Stiles. Get some rest." I told him whilst pulling the sheets up and tucking him in. "Thanks, Kelsey," Stiles said distantly as he drifted off into a deep sleep as mom turned off the lights, motioning me to follow her outside the room.

"I love that you're a good friend to Stiles but you need to go to school, I will let you know when he wakes up." Mom told me. I can't go back to school, not today, not when Stiles is in the hospital alone. Yes, it's probably nothing serious but I want to be here when he wakes up. "Mom, please. I want to be here for Stiles. Besides I can catch up with schoolwork, I have good grades anyway." I begged, putting on the puppy-dog eyes. Mom sighed in defeat. "Okay, fine. I'll come back and check on you both later."

"Okay, bye mom," I said as she walked off down the hall before I went back into the patient room Stiles was in. Quietly closing the door behind me, I moved the chair closer to the bed so I could hold Stiles's hand. I know there's no need to hold his hand but I feel like he needs me to. Like he needs to know I'm here.

________________________________________________________________

Hey everyone!

It's been a pretty long time since I published anything, although I am getting there slowly but surely. A lot has happened that has prevented me from writing but everything seems to be getting much better, plus I have had quite a bit of help getting out of my writer's block from and LewisRanchod, so thank you so much for that!

Also, I wanted to let you know that I am writing another chapter as we speak, it was meant to be extended to this chapter but I thought it would be too long. and two chapters would be better anyway. And I want to thank you guys for being patient with me and my writing, I appreciate it.

xoxo
