Penny almost couldn't believe what she had just saw...if she didn't see it herself, she certainly wouldn't have. The bite mark on her arm was healed, not even leaving behind a scar.

"Wow...thanks!" Penny said.

"Okay, you're healed, your bird's healed, now go home, townie." Yang told Penny.

"Uhh...I'm not actually sure how to get back home from here." Penny replied shyly.

"I'll help you get home." Ruby offered.

"Ruby, no. Uncle Qrow told us not to go anywhere near that town." Yang said.

"I'll only go as far as the edge of the forest, I promise. You just stay here and keep an eye on the den." Ruby replied.

"Okay. Stay safe and look out for those traps. Those d*mn hunters have them everywhere." Yang told her sister.

"Don't worry, Yang, if I run into any hunters, I'll just scare them of, GRRRR!" Ruby said, baring her teeth and curling her fingers like claws.

"Just get it done and over with, and hurry back." Yang said, hugging Ruby.

"Okay." Ruby said hugging back.

"Come on, townie!" she added, grabbing Penny's wrist and dragging her out of the den.

"M-my name's Penny." Penny told her.

Ruby and Penny travel through the forest, one walking and the other frolicking, skipping, and jumping from tree root to tree root. 

"So...how does the whole wolfwalker thing work?" Penny asked.

"Well....it's pretty simple; when I'm awake, I'm a human...and when I'm asleep, I'm a wolf! Our spirits leave our human body and turn into a wolf." Ruby explained.

"What happens to your human body, though?" Penny asked her.

"It kinda enters this coma-like state. Also, what ever happens to the wolf form happens to the human form; so if we get injured in our wolf form, the injuries also appear on our human body." Ruby answered.

Ruby suddenly stops walking, but Penny keeps moving on.

"Uhh, Penny...I would stop if I were you." Ruby told Penny.

"Why?...AHH!" Penny replied before getting caught in another snare trap.

The young wolfwalker girl walks up the other girl, who was once again hanging upside down by her ankle.

"Hehehe...what kind of hunter gets caught in not one, but two traps?" Ruby giggled.

"Ah, give me a break, I'm just a kid." Penny huffed pouting.

"...help..." she whimpered.

To help Penny down, Ruby climbs up the tree that the snare trap is attached to. Then she hangs upside down from the branch the rope is tied to and bites at the rope, snapping it. Penny falls with a THUMP face-first onto a pile of leaves. She lifts her face off the ground and spits out a couple leaves, and pulls a couple out of her hair. When she gets back to her feet, she saw that Ruby looked a little bit nervous. 

"What's wro--" Penny asked, but was interrupted by Ruby's hand over her mouth.

"Shh! Do you smell that?" Ruby whispered.

Penny shakes her head 'no'. Ruby sniffs the air a few times then she growls.

"I smell a man...a hunter...a real hunter." Ruby whispered, darting her eyes left and right.

Penny frowns, offended by that comment, then her and Ruby hide in a large bush.

"There he is...you stay here, I'll scare him off." Ruby told Penny.

"*gasp* Oh no, Uncle Clover." Penny said quietly to herself.

Ruby is about to jump out of the bush, but Penny stops her and holds her back, arm wrapped firmly around her torso and a hand over her mouth to keep her quiet. This action caused the bush to rustle a bit...alerting Clover. Penny bites down on her bottom lip to keep herself from making any noise as Clover approached the bush her and Ruby were hiding in.

"Hmmm...." Clover said as he examined the bush but saw nothing.

Sweat dripped down Penny's temple the closer Clover examined the bush. But luckily...her and Ruby weren't discovered and Clover walks away. When he was gone, Penny lets out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

"Phew...that was too close." Penny sighed in relief.

The girls come out of the bush and dust themselves off.

"What were you so afraid of?" Ruby asked.

"That was my uncle. I...I'm not exactly supposed to be out here in the forest." Penny replied.

"And I'm not supposed to be near the town...guess our uncles are pretty overprotective, huh?" Ruby said.

"Yeah." Penny giggled.

"So, which one of those men in the den was your uncle?" she asked.

"The dark haired one. The blonde one's mine and Yang's dad." Ruby answered.

"What about your mom?" Penny asked her.

"Well...Yang's mom, Uncle Qrow's sister, abandoned the pack after she was born. And my mom...died when I was really young...I don't even remember her." Ruby explained, frowning sadly.

"Both of my parents died when I was ten." Penny told Ruby.

"Sorry about your parents." Ruby said setting her hand on Penny's shoulder.

"Sorry about your mom." Penny said, smiling slightly.

"Come on, let's get you back home so you won't get in trouble." Ruby said taking hold of Penny's hand.

This was the first time the two were holding hands...and it had an odd affect on them. Their joined hands tingled, a warmth filled their chest, and their cheeks turned pink. Coming to her senses, Ruby leads her new friend out of the forest. When they were closet to the edge of the forest, another scent catches her attention.

"Ooooh...is that town tasties I smell?" Ruby said licking her lips.

She bolts in a different direction, leaving behind a confused Penny.

"Wow, she's...easily distracted." Penny said following after her new friend.

Penny really liked her new friend; Ruby was fun, silly, and...kinda cute. She really liked spending time with her. But now Penny feels bad about her ambition to hunt wolves. Then she thought about what would happen if General Ironwood's plan to eliminate all the wolves in the forest succeeds. Ruby's pack will be destroyed...and her along with it. Penny can't let that happen, she had to warn Ruby about the general's plans.
