8. The party- part II
Alec's P.O.V
I punched a hole in the wall. I can't believe this was happening with me. How could I have a fucking human as my mate. No there must be a mistake.
Calm down, Alec. You-
The door opened to reveal a man almost the same height as his with bulgy biceps and broad shoulders.
His green eyes held knowledge and powers even greater than mine.
I bowed to him, "Master Gilfred, is there something you wish for."
The only man he respected was Gilfred. His master/Guru/ dad, Gilfred was everything to him.
"I heard that you found your mate, Alec."
He said in a calm voice. One thing about Gilfred was he never loses his temper. Complete opposite of me.
"Yes, Gilfred. I did." I said, gritting my teeth.
"Then why are you not enthusiastic. You should be with her. I thought once a vampire finds his mate, he couldn't keep his hands off her let alone be away from her." He said, smiling. He knew for how long I was searching for my Mate. But all the wait was for nothing.
"She's a human." I spat on the word 'human'.
Gilfred lost his smile."Oh! Well, What are you going to do with her?" He asked me.
I remembered the slap she gave and I saw red covering my vision.
"Kill her." I said and started walking back to her bedroom. I don't want powers of a puny human. It was as good as nothing. I am good as I am. I didn't need her puny powers to defeat someone. I was already strong enough.
Gilfred put both the hands on my shoulders and made me look into his eyes.
"You won't do anything like that. If you kill her, you won't get another one. A vampire has only one mate in his entire life time. It will kill you if you take her life." Gilfred made me understand.
"I don't care." I sneered.
"It's my order Alec. You won't harm that girl." He knew very well that I never defied his orders.
"Go get ready. The guests will arrive anytime and you'll do everything as the traditions say. Alright?" He said.
I nodded my head and went to get ready.
The tradition involved nothing but dancing in each others arms and make a conversation to get to know each other better. Then you're supposed to slid a ring in your mate's finger and kiss on her neck to show your claim on her.
I took out the ring hanging from my neck out. It was my mother's ring. Just thinking about her made my eyes burn. That's why I tried to think about her less but not a single day has gone that I didn't remember her.
My mother had made me promise her to give the ring to my mate when she was....
What should I do? I can't break the promise I made to my mother but at the same time I can't give my most precious, treasure to this human.
No mother. I'm sorry, I refuse to accept her as my mate. Guess you'll be near my dead heart forever. A single hot tear escaped my eye. I wiped it off quickly.

Elisa's P.O.V
Here goes nothing. I stepped down the stairs carefully. I'm so gonna have new bruises because of this heels tonight. Already my knees were turning into a jelly. If not for Adam holding my hand, I would have fallen down way before.
"Don't worry, everything will be fine." Adam tried his best to assure me but it didn't have any positive effect on me.
His cell rang off again.
"Elisa I need to pick up this call. You'll need to go alone now. You can't make an entrance with me."
"What? Why?I'll trip Adam. And I'm scared to death. You can't just ditch me." I said to him.
He just shook his head and hugged me tight whispering 'all the best' in my ear.
Before I can argue he took off. I fixed my hair and repeated a mantra in my head.
You can do this.
You can do this.
I wished that the stairs would take a little more time climbing down but I reached the landing and was met with darkness.
Not exactly midnight darkness. There were dim lights on the ceiling. A Chandler hung in the middle. It was beautiful and antique.
Suddenly all the conversation stopped and a bluish- white light flared to life where I stood exactly.
Oh God!
Another same color light flared to show Alec looking like a fashion model from Paris. He wore a black tux, black shirt, black tie and black trousers. Great everything black again.
I glanced into his grey eyes to find that he had the most dumbstruck expression on his face.
He had his mouth a little open, eyes a little filled with surprise as if what he was looking at was something unbelievable. And that something was me.
Oh God. Something said that I should make a move towards him.
So I started taking small steps towards him, the light following my movements. His expression hadn't changed at all.
I can do this.

Alec's P.O.V
The moment that light fell on her I couldn't believe what I was looking at.
She stood there shyly. Looking innocent and I was awestruck.
She was exquisite.
Her long auburn brown hair was flowing down her back, her legs were long for her short stature. She looked like a pure-hearted angel. My Angel.
How can a human look so beautiful? Even a vampire would be a shame in front of her.
She tensed for a moment and then started making her way towards her. The hall was so silent that only the clicks of her heels on marble floor echoed throughout the room.
I know that I should make a move towards her but the way she walking made my chest puff. All the male vampires looks were filled in lust. A feeling like burning fire filled my body. Was I jealous that they were all checking out my mate?
That was enough to bring me out of daze. I took strides towards her and held my left palm out indicating to dance.
She stopped two steps away from me and eyed my hand.
She seemed hesitant before putting her hand in mine.
So soft and smooth. My big hand engulfed her small one.
A soft whisper. I heard from her,"I-I....uh....I c-can't dance."
I just took her other hand and placed it on my shoulder. She was observing every movement done by me like a scared bunny.
Next I placed my right arm on her small waist on cue slow music began strumming throughout the room.
She was glancing at my hand on her waist. But I didn't like the distance between us, I wanted her more closer to me, so I pulled her towards me.
It was an unxpected move that caused our bodies to collide and bring our chests almost at touching level.
She looked up with wide eyes. Though she wore heels her head ony reached till my chin.
She was so delicate I could easily crush her. Her midnight black eyes were wide and was searching something in my eyes.
"Do I know you?" She suddenly asked me. I was confused. what was she implying?
"I mean have I ever met you in past because your eyes....it's just that every time I look into them I feel like I've seen them somewhere else...and it's highly unusual that I would forget them." She rambled.
Shit. How in the hell she remembered about my eyes. I made sure that she remembered nothing from that night, it was next to impossible that she knew something about me or have snipets of memory from that night.
"Anyways, why am I here?" Good thing she dropped the subject because honestly I didn't know how to answer her former question.
I just raised an eyebrow at her, "You know I'm waiting for an ' I'm sorry' statement." I told her.
Her eyes got hard, "Oh you won't get that part for anytime now or any time in near future." She said angrily.
Just like an angry harmless bunny. I chuckled.
Shit! I actually chuckled. I twirled her and brought her back in my arms again.
The twirl caused our lips to dangerously come closer. Her gaze went to my lips and her breathing shuddered.
I did the same. Her lips were pink but something was definitely wrong.
She didn't wear any make up! My mind clicked in. Yes not an ounce of make-up plastered her face except for the thin black line above her eyelids.
She was a natural beauty.
Her lips were pink and looked so soft, I so wanted to know the taste of them.
I painstakeingly moved my gaze from her lips and found out that her hair was tickling my hand.
It was hard to believe that she was a mere human, even-
"I know you're keeping something from me. Just tell me what it is. I deserve some kind of answers." Thank God she interrupted my line of thoughts with those mouth because if she hadn't then I was sure that her lips would've been under mine.
She was waiting for her answer,"Are you always this annoying?" I asked her irritatingly.
"Are you always this angry?" She retorted.
"Why do you ask so many questions?" No way was I gonna lose in this fight. I was actually having fun. Fuck.
"Why are you filled with so much hatred? Why do you hate me so much when I've done nothing wrong to you. Heck I didn't even know you a day before." Only if she remembered.
"It's your hold species I hate. And as for you, I despise you. Never in my entire existence I've hated someone as much as I hate you." I didn't want to say that. The words just tumbled out of my mouth before I could stop them.
As if reading my mind she said, "Be careful with your words, once spoken they can only be forgiven not forgotten." She said with a flicker of hurt in her eyes.
I pulled her closer so that our chests were now touching. We were just swaying along with the music.
"Do you really think that I care? If I were in the situation where you were dying and I had a glass of water. I'd drink that glass of water and watch you die." This time I was really angry. Who was she to teach me?
She looked closed to tears. I tightened my hold on her waist bringing her more closer, if that was possible.
"Who has hurt you?" She asked suddenly.
I laughed without humour, " mNo one on this earth is strong enough to hurt me." I said
"Love is." she said immediately. Her answer caught me off guard.
"What?"
"Love is stong enough to hurt you yet it is stong enough to break the walls surrounding your heart and fill them with happiness.
It is so strong that it can keep you alive just by the thought of someone when all you wish is to death take toll over you.
So tell me Alec, who hurt you so much in your past that you still carry it around in your present in the form of hatred?"
I was gaping at her. Second time tonight. How did such a petty girl guessed my past within few hours. But I'm not gonna admit that to her.
"Do you have any brains? Use your intelligence. There is no such thing as love. It's only your imagination." I said.
"Love is the triumph of imagination over intelligence." She said gazing in my eyes.
Boy, she had an answer for everything, didn't she?
"Love is nothing but nuisance. A weakness. A-"
"Yet it is the best feeling ever and the stongest thing you'll ever feel." She cut me off.
"It is not a reason to die -"
"But a reason to live." She did it again. Vampires feared to raise their eyes at me and this petty human cut me off and that also twice.
I was angry now, "What are you trying to do? Change my perspective of love? Cause let me tell you that'll never happen. No one can change me." I growled.
"I'm not changing you. I'm just trying to make you understand that just because someone hurt you in past, that doesn't mean everyone will end up hurting you in future.
You can never find rest until you let go of hatred and hurt that lives in your heart."
"What's -"
She was looking at ceiling in frustration when suddenly her expreasion changed and covered with fear.
I was about to look up when she pushed me but not with enough strength yet I fell on my butt.
What the hell? How did she have this much power to push me and make me fall on the floor.
But what happened next made my dead heart freeze all over again.
The Chandler loosened from the ceiling and was going to fall on Elisa's head.
Noo!
