Special Chapter: The Fobidden Child
My name is Hattori Hanzo. The grand Elder of the Tribe of Chameleons.
We are tribe that is one with nature. All of the blessing that the God of Earth gives us, is repaid with kindness amongst each other.
We show no hostile intent to our visitors instead we give them our gratitude and hospitality. We may not be a modern tribe unlike the others, but we are friendly no less.
I spent over 60 years watching over the people of my tribe and witnessed many miracles that have happened throughout my life. But nothing surprised me more than what I had encounter several years ago...
That was the time I saw him...
I was patrolling an area deep within the forest and a storm caught up to me. I had to find shelter and wait for the storm to pass. After searching for a safe place, a miracle brought me to a small cave underneath a pile of twigs and branches. Using the natural resources, I managed to create fire and used dried twigs as fuel. I planned to stay at my position until the storm pass but I suddenly noticed that the cave had old tiles on the floor which leads towards a long, narrow tunnel. This caught my curiosity as I grabbed a small log and lit it with fire to use as a torch to light my way through the cave. Each step I took made my curiosity stronger. I wanted to see what lies on the other side of this cave, wether it be old knowledge and relics of the past, or simply items of lost time.
Once I reached the end of the cave, there I stood Infront of two large doors made entirely of stone. My curiosity got the best of me as I searched the area for a way to open the stone doors.
I remembered stepping on a random tile on the floor which opened the doors before me. The room was lit with the light from my torch as I entered. The area was cold and had a weird scent that I never once knew existed.
I approached the room further to see it's surroundings but nothing seemed to be inside except for a small box at the center of the room. I approached the box and as I got closer, I heard a faint voice, similar to a new born.
I then rushed in my approach and there I saw a miracle that shocked me.
A human baby sleeping inside a box.
No one believes the existence of humans and animals living together in an era before ours. And those who did, believed that Humans are exiled beings of The God of Earth. Meaning they are impure and will lead to certain chaos.
But my old heart couldn't abandon a helpless baby after looking at it from up close. I picked up the baby and held it in my hands. The baby cried at first but once he got used to my hands and arms, he slept peacefully.
I smiled at the human and returned to where I lit the fire. Waiting for the storm to pass.
Once the storm was no longer raging. I headed out and returned back to my tribe. It was there I realized that most of my people would be shocked and afraid if they realize I brought a human in the tribe. That is when I decided to drop off the baby to a house that was rather distant from the tribe but the owners were still chameleons like us. They were the Yamada family. An old married couple lives there but sadly, their previous child died due to an illness and now rarely leaves their house.
I knocked at their doorstep and immediately showed them the baby I held. They took the revelation hard. They were scared at the boy but the moment the wife held the human around her arm, her appearance changed and a smile occured.
I begged them to watch over the boy. In this world where people fear those that they do not understand, will certainly be hard for a human boy. That is why I was relieved when the old couple agreed in being his guardians. It was there we gave the boy a name. Yuu... The name of their previous child.
As years go by. I watched Yuu grow into a cheerful and high spirited boy. He remained a secret from the others until the day he reached 13. That was the day... Where the old couple... Died.
Yuu felt sadness and despair towards those he referred to as, Family. So it was the time where I decided to introduce the boy to the tribe.
Many were uncertain about his presence after I showed him to the people. As I expected, many showed fear towards him but as the Grand Elder, my words and decisions are there for the people to acknowledge and follow.
The boy slowly became used to being around my people, but even with their smiles towards Yuu I can still clearly see their fear and uncertainty towards him.
That is why when my daughter left the tribe, I vowed to teach the boy the knowledge that I never got to show my daughter. I raised Yuu as my own. I showed him the right path to take in life but I still did not anticipated for him to take the same path as Hanabi...
The moment he broke our most sacred law... The people started to show their true feelings towards Yuu. Despite his actions, I forgave the boy as his guardian but as the Grand Elder... I had to punish him or else the tribe will take matters into their own hands...
I planned to give the boy to one of my allies in the Bug Tribe. The same person that donated Yuu of his current clothing. But before I got to reach out to him... The human had already carved his own path and left the tribe with the power of our War Hero...
After that night where the boy left the village, I stood there in silent. All of the memories of Yuu growing up arrived in my mind.
He used to be cheerful, high spirited, and open towards others... But this judgemental world changed him and I don't blame him for that. What he is going though right now... Is what he needs.
That was the last time I saw the boy in the village...
People will certainly be afraid of his appearance because he is different. But... I know he will meet the right people that will accept him for who he is.
To others, they will see him as a forbidden child that should have never been born into this world. But to me... He will always be...
... A miracle.
