Epilogue

Third P.O.V

The sun was peeking over the horizon, casting the sky in brilliant oranges and yellows as a woman climbed to the top of an old building. It was the first time in a long time she was allowed to go out on her own, and she decided to take advantage of it. There was a certain lightness to the air, a sense of freedom that one could practically taste on the breeze. With a deep breath she ran, her legs pumping faster as she reached the edge of the roof and she lept, grabbing the eave of the next roof. Her arms weren't as strong as they used to be, but she still had no problem pulling her small frame up and over.

She lived in the thrill of the run as she scaled higher and higher, until she stood atop an old tower, the metal skeleton giving her a view of the entire city. From the slums below, to the white district, the warehouse district to the docks. It was all new to her now, the last time she had seen it, the white district and the slums were all but at war with each other. Now, the slums were more, the buildings were being repaired, the streets were clean, the white district was brightened with colorful flowers and banners.  She smiled to herself as she thought of everything her people accomplished, everything they had fought for, all of their hardships that they over came.

A sound below her drew her eyes down, a smile splitting her face as the large black haired figure made his way to her. " Didn't waste any time did ya shrimp?" He said with a chuckle, causing the bluenette to pout. " Gajeel iv been bed ridden for six months, all I wanted to do was stretch my legs." He smiled as he stopped just below her, looking up as the sun glowed behind her like a halo. " I know, but I didn't want you to go by yourself." She snorted. " I'm not fragile." He chuckled. " No your not," he reached up and gently caressed her cheek. Her eyes softened and she leaned her face against his hand. " I'm just worried about you." He said, his voice gruff.

" I know." She said with a soft smile. He pulled himself up higher with his free arm, using the hand on her cheek to pull her down for a gentle kiss. She smiled into their kiss before pulling away,"Iv been meaning to ask you," he said quietly and she raised her eyebrow. " Yeah?" "Marry me?" She blushed but her grin was wide. " Not very romantic huh?" She giggled at his scowl. " Damn it woman, I ain't kneelin. Not like I could up here anyway." He grumbled, making her laugh loudly. " You don't even have to ask." She said before kissing him softly. Before he could kiss her back she pulled away, jumping from their tower. She laughed at his slightly stunned face before taking off running across the roof. A grin split his face as he jumped down and followed his bride across the roofs of their city, determined to follow her into a bright future.
