Enigma
Enigma's Log
Per the captain's orders, I avoided the new recruits. Pointy teeth don't go over well with skittish war orphans. Exxon seemed rather shellshocked, so I avoided him too. The trip passed uneventfully, except for when Max walked in on me eating and nearly lost his last meal.
We dropped Nila off at a Udhae planet, they had the best medical and scientific facilities. Dake was dropped off for training on the Fleetwing homeworld. The overall population of Fleetwings isn't altogether that big, probably under the amount of humans on Earth, but they are one of the oldest species we've encountered. Udhae have a much larger population, and are a much younger species, only a few million years older than humans.
We ran into a problem on our way to pick up new orders, in the form of a bunch of Senhir ships.
They surrounded us, and then almost destroyed the ship, ensuring that we wouldn't be able to get help, or have help reach us in time. We also wouldn't be able to escape without ending up dead along the way to a station.
"Surrender your ship to us," the Senhir commander barked.
Obsidia glanced to me, and I sighed. "We have no choice, we are too damaged to make it to a station, we have no other option."
The Senhir commander smirked triumphantly. He disconnected, and I grabbed a nearby railing. It wouldn't do to have a concussion.
The ship pulled us in. A squadron of Senhir boarded the ship, pointing their lasers at us, and escorted us off the ship and into prison cells.
"Why did they put us all together?" Obsidia wondered. "Especially Exxa. She's a medic, they should know that."
"I know what it means when they do this," I said gravely. "They do this to experiments. Mostly hoping there will be some killing or something like that. They enjoy it."
"They're sick," Max muttered, his lip curling into a snarl.
"No, they're evil. Last I checked, they never get sick," Exxa corrected.
Syl grinned. "He meant they're evil. It's an Earth saying."
"Weird humans," Exxa muttered.
"Weird plant eaters," Max shot back, smirking slightly.
Exxon stepped in between them. "That's enough."
Obsidia sighed. "This is going to be a long time until someone reaches us."
I sighed with her. "Yeah." I placed my side against a wall, sitting down. I have a fin on my back, so being on my back is not an option. Admittedly, the fin is not as big as Annmarie's, mostly because she's a sailfish, so, large sail. Also, we're from completely different magic systems.
The door opened, admitting a woman in a dark blue tunic and leggings. She was escorted by several guards, armed to the teeth. "Water-type," she ordered.
"Jezebeth," Max and Syl snarled. I guessed they'd been told who she was by the Fantasyverse team. They'd had a few bad run ins with the Senhir Druid. Or more then a few.
The guards held the rest of my team back as Jezebeth's personally trained guard grabbed me. I, of course, wasn't permitted to walk on my own, instead I was picked up roughly, almost like a log in those weird human training exercises.
They placed me in an experimentation room, with my back to the cold metal. There was a very neatly placed indentation right where my back fin was. It made me think they were prepared for me in a way I didn't like. Few people had the exact same sized fin, it was just a fact. The cold metal of the indentation pressed against the skin of my fin, which meant it was designed with my specifications in mind. That, or it was adapting.
Cold bands of metal slid over the skin at my ankles and wrists, as well as one at my shoulders. To hold me in place, this couldn't end well.
"Try to remain awake, it'll go better if you are conscious the entire time," Jezebeth rasped, preparing something in a vial. "This is an anesthetic. It will do little for the pain, but will keep you awake."
I struggled as best I could, which really wasn't much as thick bands of metal slid up to clamp down over my stomach, lower legs, and forehead. "What are you doing, druid?" My sharp set of teeth slid down, and I bared them at her in a snarl.
"Genetic splicing," Jezebeth answered absentmindedly. "Hm, poison/venom, cave, electricity, so many options."
"Oh dear Jupiter," I cursed. "Just get it over with."
"Tsk, so impatient," Jezebeth scolded. She held a vial up to the light, flicking it gently a few times. "Be patient, child."
"Not a kid," I muttered, sulking.
"Teen, then," Jezebeth replied. She came over with a vial of purple gooey stuff. "Swallow or needle?"
I shuddered. Equally bad. I really didn't want to taste it tho, so, "needle."
Jezebeth attached a syringe to the vial, sticking it into my arm. "It will take a while to take effect. I will be monitoring you in here for a few days, then you will be exchanged with one of your teammates."
I gulped. It was so much scarier when she started acting like she was some sort of demented grandmother. It was just scary.
The pain hit, and I don't remember anything after it. I was awake, but I don't remember anything.
