In Ruins
Hi. Here's a picture a drew a while back. I was gonna show it a few chaps ago but i guess I accidentally deleted it? idk. I thought this year would be pretty calm but it's been hectic which is why I've been away from wattpad and other social medias for a while.
Speaking of BTS, they just announced they will be focusing on solo work for a bit. I was really sad at first but it doesn't mean they are breaking up. I look forward to what they bring individually. Personally I really want to see them in more variety shows. Like either jin or jungkook would be so fun to watch in home alone (a variety show which shows celebs living alone basically). I also want to see Tae in more dramas. And obviously I want to see the rap line do new albums and I cant wait for Jimin's new songs (and everyone else's of course). P.s. Jack in the box is just *chefs kiss* and run bts is my jam.
"We can save her."
"It's too late, Sigyn- I couldn't,- she didn't,"
"Astrid. Calm down. It's okay. Deep breaths."
"No," she shook her head woefully, "It's not okay. Hiccup. She had a mark around her neck and she was so pale. She was clinging onto her life. It was horrible."
"There's still hope Astrid," he was desperate, "What else did she say?"
Astrid looked at him and his heart twisted painfully at the lost look on her face. He silently wiped the tears streaming down her face and watched for a moment as she closed her eyes and sniffled. It took a couple of seconds, but when she opened her eyes once again, he could see the glint of determination that came with her fierce passion towards reaching a goal. That's the Astrid I know.
"We need to go to Berk. We need to end this now."
Looking at his mother, who had been smiling sadly at the two, he nodded. They were going to save Sigyn and prevent a war from happening. And nothing could stop them.
"Get as many riders and warriors as you can and meet us at Berk. Make sure you leave some of them here though. There needs to be people protecting everyone here too."
Time skip-On Berk
Hel walked out of the hall with a smirk on her face. It was easy to hurt that pathetic human and the screams that accompanied her fate were like a melody to Hel's ears. (Very poetic. yes.)
She had the small yak tugged snugly under her armpit, after having snatched it from the girl in the hall. She felt infuriated. Did that girl really think that she could manipulate her with this? (well why did you take it then?)
She crossed her free arm behind her back and let her finger flicker in the direction of the hall. One small spark and a bit of direction was all it took before the Meade hall, with all of its possessions and the girl still in there, was engulfed in an inferno of heat and devastation.
She didn't look back to admire her work. No. There was no point. She knew what would happen and that was more than enough to satisfy her- her thoughts thinking otherwise.
Sauntering down the steps, she inhaled the fresh smoke and peered at the sky that loomed over her. It was unusual. She hated this place. Hated the people she had to put up with for all of these years. She had to pretend she was grateful that they let her stay and she had to pretend that she was interested in their insolent remarks and acts of stupidity those Vikings seemed to love doing without realising. They didn't even recognise who she was but she remembered everything they said. Every rumour that spread. Every look of pity they gave her. Oh what a poor girl to have lost both of her parents. Oh I wonder what happened to her. All those whispers when they thought she couldn't hear.
It was disgusting. They were all below her, and yet, the sky that they lived under seemed to favour them more than others. It let them see it's pretty colours and brought them sustenance in the form of rain for their crops. Even with all the smoke coming from behind her, the sky was still willing to shine on Berk like it always did.
What had Berk done to even deserve treatment like this from their so called gods? They weren't special. They were just a bunch of angry, obnoxious idiots who had the privilege of having families and friends and people.
Something she didn't have.
Shut up! The voice in her head screamed at her. You are better than them. You have the control. You, not them! Who said you need anyone but yourself?
There was only one person she would want to be in the presence of. But she was gone and she wouldn't come back. You are above this pathetic emotion. You don't need anyone. Not anymore.
"SIGYN. NO!"
She grinned and sung under her breath "Oh, hello."
Her maniacal laugh carried through the village and she could feel their fear bleeding out as she watched the hoard of dragons hover over her.
Raising her hands, silently cursing as the toy fell beside her (why do you care?), her fingers crackled to life. She aimed for the riders but was annoyed that they were able to dodge her attacks, despite their fear. So instead, she focused on bringing the demise about the demise of the land around her. She shot at the houses and the trees and though some of them missed, they hit the ground, quickly spreading her inferno across her surroundings.
She welcomed the heat like an old friend, not caring that the flames flickered and sparked against her skin. They wouldn't leave a mark on her, like they would the rest of the world. And Berk was going to be the first place she burned to ashes.
At that moment, Hiccup decided to lock Toothless's tail so he could stay in place out of the way of the flames and he flew down to a clearing near the sorceress. Astrid followed closely behind.
"Look who's late to the party. Did you guys sleep in?"
"Where is Sigyn?" Hiccup's face was scowling. In a way, it reminded her of Stoick and how his face would be in a constant state of aggravation. Like father, like son.
"Hmm, why don't you ask your gods. They are probably settling her into Valhalla by now." She couldn't help but grin more- even if her face was beginning to hurt- as she heard the low growls that emitted from the couple.
"Hiccup!" Astrid pointed towards the origin of the fire with a panicked expression.
Well- at least one of them were smart.
"Try all you like. You won't be able to save her."
Hiccup ignored the chilling smile on her face and turned to , "Astrid." He didn't say anything else, just held up 1 finger and Stormfly shot up towards the other dragons and began screeching orders to them.
Hel watched them, head tilted.
"Why have you done this? What did we do to you?"
She laughed, keeping an eye on the dragons- who had surrounded the hall, flapping their wings in one direction. Her eyebrows quirked and she silently increased the heat surrounding the air.
"Doing this?" She continued to laugh, "It's just the beginning."
She took a step forward to him, taking pride in the panicked look that washed over his face.
Her hand lifted towards the hall and he watched with horror as the flames grew, his sister still inside; his fiance just above.
"NO, STOP! PLEASE," His voice was as desperate as the flames which were rising.
Stormfly quickly flew to avoid them, whilst some of the other dragons continued to work against the flames. The rest were acting quickly to be a brigade, filling buckets with seawater and splashing them where the fire was most concentrated. For Hiccup, it felt like eternity, watching as the dragons piled to save his sister. He felt... useless, frozen in fear for what might happen to her, like he had done for the first 15 years of his life.
"Hiccup!"
He turned to see Luna with Tuffnut?
"Hey H, thought you could use some reinforcements," A large roar turned his attention to the sea, where the bewilderbeast had made his entrance, "It's took a little convincing to get him out of his shell but we're here! All of us," Tuffnut pointed to a new wave of dragons, some who were attached to a rope of a ship, holding the people of Berk- who had been left behind.
"Luna. She's in the great hall," he looked to the bewilderbeast, "drop the temperature."
Suddenly, the hot air around them began to cease. Hiccup could hear the outrage coming out of Hel's mouth but he didn't care. He ordered Toothless to follow Luna and on his way he gestured to Astrid (and Heather' who had been helping to lessen the flames) to stop the woman once and for all. (2 woman are better than 1).
As the flames were finally able to die down, Luna blasted at the door of the great hall and Toothless followed through the door.
Outside
"NO! This is supposed to be my world. This is supposed to be my choice!" She had a new look of determination on her, "You will all perish beneath me and my army will rise."
Astrid got off Stormfly and looked at the girl sadly. She picked up the toy and spoke, "Is that what your mother wants for you?"
"What?" Hel turned to the girl, eyes glaring.
"I'm sure your mother doesn't want this. She doesn't want her daughter to be like this."
She took a step forward, and another, and another. Until she reached on front of Hel.
"Shut up! My mother is dead! You have no right to speak of he." her eyes watered, betraying her appearance.
Astrid smiled, "I know you. I know what happened to your mother. Sigyn told me."
Hel laughed, "How preposterous. You think I believe you when you're beloved Sigyn is in the midst of a fire probably dying from the ashes she inhales?"
"She's always been a bit of an determined one, that girl. Always trying to find a way to make the situation less dangerous. No matter how, she's always tried."
"I don't care about what she was able to do. She's dead." Her hands raised up, "And soon, you will be too."
"Give it your best shot."
"Astrid! What are you doing?"
She had no time to reply to Heather as she was engulfed in a flash of green before the spirit took over her and her consciousness was flung into darkness. Astrid's body, however, was still up, the only difference was that her eyes had illuminated and her body was glowing, as if she was possessed by the Gods.
"My dear," A different voice came out of her mouth. The people and dragons could only watch in horror and awe. There was only one person who seemed to recognise the voice, Hel's jaw had opened in shock.
"Mama," she said in a small, childlike voice, "How?"
Astrid- or, well, the spirit that possessed her- brought her hand to cup the girl's face.
"My child. Please stop this immediately. What you are doing is atrocious."
"What- but, Mama. Don't you understand, I'm doing this for you- for us."
"Your anger is deluded. There is no need for you to take this path."
"I-I don't understand."
She sighed at her daughter, "I had always feared that your anger for your father would manifest into something worse. Which is why I wanted to watch over you. Everytime I tried to approach you through others, everytime I tried to sympathise with you. You pushed me away." She caressed her cheek softly, "You were always troubled and I wish that you had let people in."
Hel merely whispered, "What?"
"You've been here too long without any resolve. It is time that you come with me."
"Where?"
"Wherever you like. Isn't that what you wanted? When I'm here, all this... vengeance is meaningless."
"I want us to stay here."
Both of Astrid's hands were on Hel's face, "My dear. Don't you see? We are not welcome here. Not after what you have done to all of them."
"Why?" She asked, tears finally streaming down her face.
But the mother just smiled and enveloped her daughter into a hug as the light grew brighter and the two shared their last tears.
All that was left behind was Astrid, who had stopped glowing and was now unconscious on the floor. Those who were closest, gathered around her, Valka- who had been watching, ran towards her daughter-in-law (well not yet) and began to check for signs of life.
"She's okay."
But they were not relieved yet. There was still one more person they were worried about.
Valka pulled Astrid's resting body towards her, praying to the gods that her daughter was fine.
So a lot of the reason why this took so long to write was because I didn't know what to write. I've never wrote a plot like this so I'm really sorry if you're disappointed with it (Im really sorry but angst is not my thing- though if was solely to do with romamce I could probably do it) but, for now, this is how the story is ending.
Yes. It's ending. We only have a few chapters left. I'm feeling kinda sentimental tbh. I feel like I've come a long way from where I started and my writing has, for the most part, become better as I matured. Its been nice to have you people still supporting me and reading this so, thank you.
One more thing. Sorry for the anguish you guys felt when I accidentally published this chapter. I literally panicked because of it.
See you lovelies soon! 👋
