Crazy ideas

Hi people. Yes yes. I am making another one. I didn't like some parts of the other one when I read over it so I deleted it. Sorry to anyone who liked the other one. I promise this will be better. Btw, that picture gives me feels.
Anyway. En garde.

"Hey Astrid, thanks for believing in me." Hiccup said as they sat in the cove looking over the brilliant night sky. Toothless and now Stormfly and the other dragons curling around them.

"Of course I would Hiccup. You showed me something just to make sure your dad doesn't find out. You showed me that dragons are a good thing. You showed me your true self. The self I haven't seen since we were 10 and the self which," she lowered her voice in embarrassment "which I've uh missed. Now before I get too cheesy, let's write that letter." He chuckled and got some parchment and a piece of charcoal out of the bag that was placed next to him.

3 hours earlier

"That's for kidnapping me," Astrid said as she punched his arm,"and that's for everything else." She quickly leaned into Hiccup kissing his cheek lightly. Then she sat down on the grass and patted the spot next to her, telling Hiccup to join.
He sat down and looked at the fierce girl, realising she had a long look on her face.

"What are you thinking Astrid?" She looked at him for the longest minute and said.

"What if we left for good?"

"Wh-uh-what d'you mean?"

"I heard what you said to toothless and I actually think it might be a good idea. Think of the world we will see on the backs of dragons. The places we can see. Dragons that Berk hasn't even discovered yet. Maybe we can even build our own village. (😏). Full of dragons and people living in harmony." Her face lit up more as she thought of something else, "We can defeat the red death."
"Are you sure Astrid. I mean, just a couple of hours ago you were ready to kill me and now you want to spend probably the rest of your life with me exploring and-" she punched his left arm.

"Ow. Why did you do that. Seriously, what is it with you and violence?" He grumbled.

And then he looked at her, expecting her face to look mad.

She was smiling at him. It was a smile he had missed over the years because this smile was reserved for him only. And, really, when was the last time Astrid Hofferson fully smiled.

"Whoa. Did Astrid Hofferson just smile. Are sheep flying yet." He teased.

"Hey. Shut up. It's just, it's nice to see you like this. So carefree and not guarded like you usually are." He smiled warmly at her.

"It's nice to see you smile again." She responded with another small smile but then her features twisted slightly as she had  another thought.

"Hiccup, I just want to say I am sorry. I know that it hurt you that I couldn't talk to you and it hurt me to see you so alone because I ignored you just like everyone else."
"What do you mean couldn't?"
She looked up to the night sky and sighed.
"When I started training, I had to keep away from you because I..." She trailed off, not knowing if she wanted to tell him.

"You what?" Hiccup asked. Astrid took a deep breath and looked at his confused face.

"I liked you. I still do. I knew that if I wanted to focus on my training I would have to get rid of my feelings for you. So I distanced myself from you. I mean, h-how was I meant to become a shield maiden if all i could think about was you. I started hanging out with the others, leaving you alone even though I knew I would regret it. But I didn't do anything about it. And that was so stupid of me to do. And then when you became good in dragon training, sure I was mostly jealous that you were better than me but I was also angry. Angry at the people who only started to like you because you finally proved that you were worthy of being a viking. But I still did nothing about it even though I knew how amazing and how talented you were at something when you put your mind to it. I wish things happened differently. I'm sorry for ever ignoring you and I regret not helping you and I regret not being the friend you deserved. I'll understand if you don't think I deserve your friendship because why would I, after everything I've done to you?" She finished with a solemn look on her face and Hiccup could see tears glazing her eyes. How can she look beautiful even when she is clos- focus Hiccup.

He placed his hands onto her shoulders and looked up into her eyes urging her to look into his. (Lol remember how tiny and cute hiccup was before he got his insaneky hot growth spurt?)
(Also when Astrid says she likes him, she's not confessing to him. She's just saying she likes hiccup for who he is. Although she may or may not have a little crush on him.)

"Astrid. Thank you. And I forgive you, for everything." She blinked.

"What? Why? How could you forgive me so easily?"

"How couldn't I? Even when you ignored me I was glad because I knew that you at least felt you didn't need to bully me or shout at me for the sake of it. I wish things were different too but that's life I guess,"he sighed, "Look, I care about you Astrid and I hate to see you feel burdened because you felt like you caused me pain like every other person in this Thor-forsaken village. But the truth is, you helped me more than any viking on Berk could. More than even my father could. So thank you Astrid. For everything you have done. Whether you knew it or not. Even after you distanced yourself from me, I didn't feel truly alone because I knew that you would always be the first to notice me, and to believe in me," he suddenly cringed and asked, "Was that too corny or-" Astrid chuckled, wiping the tears that crept down her face.

"Probably. Nice though."(Did anyone understand that reference?) they smiled at each other and Hiccup stood up, Astrid following suit.

"Well, we should go to the arena and train those dragons if we want to get out of here. Oh, and, Astrid,"

"Yeah Hiccup?"

"If we are going to be running off together, am I allowed to call you by your nickname again?"

"Of course Hiccup. But only if I can call you Hic"

"Ugh. You know, I didn't mind when you used to call me that but when snot and the twins called me that it was rather annoying."

"Yeah, you always used to complain that they shouldn't be using the name I gave you."

"Yup milady. And since you gave it to me, you are the only one allowed to use it. And by the way. I like you too."

They both mounted Toothless who got irritated because he wanted to sleep(so do I). Hiccup gave Astrid a lopsided smile before telling Toothless to fly to the arena.

Once they got to the killing arena- which took a while because of the guards-they quietly jumped off Toothless and ran to one of the cages.  At first, the dragons were hostile but after receiving some fish, the Gronkle and Zippleback jumped onto one of the two and started licking their faces happily. Astrid and Hiccup bonded with them for a bit before opening the door for the Terrible Terror.
Astrid turned to the Nadder cage and quickly got the Nadder to warm up to her.

Finally they both turned to the Monstrous Nightmare.
Breathing heavily, Hiccup slowly walked to the Nightmare cage. He gestured to Astrid to slowly open the cage.

As soon as the cage opened, they could see the monstrous flames that soon died down. The dragon recognised this boy. It was the boy all the other dragons were talking about. The one with the night fury scent. (OMT this is making me laugh)

Hiccup slowly raised his hand and turned his face away from the dragon. He was relieved to find warm scales had found their way to his palm.

He turned to Astrid to find her playing with the Nadder.
"I named her Stormfly. Isn't she amazing?"
"She is wonderful milady. I can't believe you found your dragon so easily."
Hiccup then whistled getting the attention of all the dragons. He pointed his finger to the sky making all the dragons except For Toothless and Stormfly fly out of the Arena.

"Mount her."
Astrid hesitated before mounting Stormfly. Hiccup gave her a quick lesson, making sure to be hidden from view, before getting the dragons to fly to the cove.

Astrid sneaked back to her house, making sure not to wake her parents up, and gathered everything into two baskets. She made sure to pack seeds for some fruit trees and vegetables to grow if they found an island and she packed all of her weapons. She also packed some herbs she knew would help for healing purposes. Finally, she wrote a small letter to her parents explaining that she would be travelling for a while and would be in safe hands.

She jumped out of her window after dropping  the baskets down slowly, and made her way towards the cove.

She settled the basket down and found hiccup laying on his back whilst looking at the stars.
He had obviously known she had come because he spoke.
