Consequences: Helheim Gates

Hi. How's it going.

A few months later.

In the few months after the news of the departure of the heir and the shield maiden, the leader of the hooligan tribe had really shown his resentment and anger towards the two teens. The villagers wouldn't say it to his face but their chief was an explosion waiting to happen.

They just hoped he wouldn't actually explode. It would be too hard to clean up.

As his resentment grew for the teens, his impatience to defeat the dragons amplified. Which is why they has been gathered in the great hall at this moment.

"We must end this now. This war has gone on for too long. These devils need to leave our world alone. We set sail tomorrow. I need everyone who is able to to come with me and fight. I will not take no for an answer. Unless you want to look after the teens." The crowd in the great hall murmured to each other. That was something they definitely did not want to do. Especially since stoick had appointed Snotlout as his heir- until Hiccup came back off course.

That was another thing. The villagers felt that Hiccup would not be back. Either he was dead or captured or he just didn't want to return. And they all knew exactly why. They just wouldn't admit it.

They didn't know about Astrid though. Until recently she was very predictable and now that she had left with Hiccup, the vikings felt that they couldn't predict what would happen to her. Would she protect Hiccup? Would he protect her? Even if they were together would they even be able to survive? The world was really a dangerous place. Especially for two measly teenagers. Astrid may be a warrior but her size still made her vulnerable. (not really but the vikings wouldn't acknowledge that being skinnier would make them more agile) Not that they were worried or anything.

But now they were getting ready to face probably the most dangerous situation they would ever experience in their short life-spans. They didn't have time to focus on the two teens when their own lives were on the line.

"But how are we supposed ta end it if we never even gotten close to the entrance of the island?" Spitelout, ever the questioner, asked.

"Whilst you all have been slacking off since the last raid, I have been planning out a way to break open the gates of helheim by using a dragon."

"A dragon? Have you gone senile?" Bucket blurted out. Normally Stoick would ignore his comments but, when the villagers began to murmur in agreement, he growled.

"Right. Se'le down yer lousy 'ooligans. Leh yer Chief speak." Gobber gestured to stoick who, although scowling much more than usual, nodded at him as a sign of thanks.

"I have been observing these beasts for a while now.  They all seem to only go to one place, like they are an army who has just received the spoils of war and retrieved them for their general. These beasts have always been able to navigate through the fog so we use one of them, we are able to kill all of them." Cheering could be heard as the group of stupidne-sorry as the Vikings finally understood the reason behind the chief's madness.

3 hours later

They had finally reached the fog bank, that had haunted even the best of vikings in the last 300 years.

Just as their chief had predicted, the monstrous Nightmare, who had been captured last week, had been navigating them through the sea of death. Though, they didn't expect it to happen so easily.

Stoick had taken over the steering and countless of ships followed. They were going to finally defeat the nest. He could feel it in his helmet.

And then it happened.

A hoard of dragons were fleeing as if they knew the vikings were coming.

But that wasn't the reason, was it?

Vikings started shouting and throwing their weapons at them but other than a few injured beasts, the dragons escaped.

A screech followed and stoick quickly looked towards the nest and gaped.

He had just brought his village to extinction.

The nightmare had become frantic as it too spotted the huge shillouete following a streak of black in the sky. Its body began shaking and it began to light itself an fire. The vikings tried to restrain it but it was too late. It had freed itself from the shackles and had flown away from it's own home, whilst the vikings had been left with scorch marks.

Whatever that had been happening on the island was bigger than anything any of the tribe had seen.

"Beard of thor. May the gods help us all."

They couldn't turn back. They couldn't move forward. All they could do was hold and pray that the devil would not find them.

"No one will speak. If we have any chance of surviving this, it will be because it can't sense us." Gobber nodded at stoick and began informing other ships.

Word travelled around fast and soon all they could hear was the flapping of wings and what sounded like some human voices.

Someone had gotten there before them.

Silence.

And then red and orange and yellow and white lit up the sky, almost like they were watching the sun explode.

The shillouete was falling.

A large crash.

It had fallen.

In the light, they could see something else, something smaller, falling as well.

It was a dragon. A dragon. A dragon who had defeated a dragon.

What had happened on this Island?

It seemed that these beasts were more complicated than any viking had ever believed.

A scream broke him from his contemplation.

"WAKE UP TOOTHLESS!" Was echoed across the ships and stoick could of sworn he had heard the voice before. (You're just too stupid to realise it's your future daughter in law)

Another scream followed and Stoick had already began to manouevre the ship towards the nest, glad that the fire had pacified the fog.

A few more dragons had passed by them but they were too high up for anyone to have a chance to attack them. (That was stormfly and the others btw)

After a few minutes of passing through spikes and edges, they had finally reached their destination.

Stoick inhaled the smell of smoke and burning flesh as he jumped onto the shore, and began to approach the large figure without hesitation, his people following behind him.

The dragons were gone and their leader was defeated. By who? They wouldn't know. It seemed that their saviours- toothless and a female and a dark dragon- had already left. But Berk would be the one to take all the credit. Neighbouring villages had known of their plans to defeat the nest once and for all. It was just a coincidence that someone else had been planning to do the same. But no one apart from the berkians would know.

Their reputation would forever be the tribe who ended the 300 year war.

Maybe this could distract their chief from a 15 year battle with his missing son.

Maybe this could distract them all from the possibility that Hiccup and Astrid were already dead. Now that they had seen the extent of what was out there, it was almost impossible for the two to survive.

All that mattered right now was that they themselves were safer than ever.

This called for a celebration.

Aaanddd that's it. A bit short but oh welll. All that happens is that the red death is defeated and berk takes the credit for it. Also stoick is a time bomb waiting to explode but the berkians think that because of their supposed victory, Stoick will be able to keep it from exploding- unless something crazy happens like hiccup coming back which they think would be impossible

Anyways. I want to know. Anyone who has read my writing before, have improved. And if you've read what if hiccup and astrid left berk, do you think this is better?

Bug out sky riders. 👋
