thirteen
a week sped by and jack and i have become much closer.
we're at a level where i'd consider asking him where our relationship stands, because i know for a fact that we're not just friends. or at least we can't be.
but with my parents, they're completely clueless to what we get up to.
there was one point where they were questioning why i would invite jack to come over and hang out, so we had to tone it down and just stick to sneaking around after hours.
there's just no way that my parents would understand. they see jack and i as completely different people, and are set on me being with someone like kyle.
but in my opinion, it wouldn't be the worst thing if they found out - it's just jack, whose cautious that my dad would get angry and fire his dad or whatever.
it was saturday morning and i could hear the door bell ring, as i changed into my clothes in my room.
"siena! it's your boyfriend!" i heard isabelle shout, so i quickly threw on my top and hurried downstairs.
"issy, shut up!" i whispered to her once i reached the door. i let jack slip through the door until my eyes focused on the large bruise on the side of his face.
"jack? w-what happened to you?" i grabbed onto his arm as i shut the door behind him.
"it was nothing, don't worry" he muttered and gave me an reassuring smile.
"isabelle, why did—jack, what on earth happened?" my dad also came in and questioned as he took off his reading glasses to get a better look.
"i just hit it when i was working," jack explained to him. "you know, with the machinery and stuff. it's not a big deal".
from the tone of his voice, i could instantly tell that what he saying was bullshit.
"okay, well i was wondering if you can work by yourself for a while today" my dad told him. "i have a quick meeting with an employee soon".
jack nodded his head, "sure".
without a single second of eye contact with me, jack walked behind me to head out the door again to the garage.
a few minutes later, i followed him out there to get a real explanation of his bruise. i stood behind him as i waited for him take off his hoodie.
"your sister's cute by the way," he snickered, throwing the clothing to the side. "with how she thinks i'm your boyfriend".
i wasn't in the mood for his jokes until i found out the truth, so i folded my arms tightly across my chest.
he observed my expression then knitted his eyebrows together, "what's up with you?" jack asked as he went over to search through the tool box.
"what really happened to your face?" i confronted him and he halted his movement for a brief second, then continued to brush it off.
"what are you talking about?".
i rolled my eyes, "jack, someone punched you, okay. i'm not stupid".
he looked up at me then licked lips, "okay fine, someone punched me".
"who?".
"one of my friends - it was a petty argument that just got a little out of hand" jack explained. "but i mean if you think this is bad, you should see him".
his lips curved into a smile as his arms snaked around my waist and pulled me closer. i finally relaxed and chuckled, as he bought his head closer towards me.
"ahem".
i whipped around and saw kyle standing right outside the garage, so instantly stepped away from jack.
"kyle, what are you doing here?" i wondered.
he showed me his backpack, "i thought that we were studying today?".
i nodded my head at the reminder, "oh, uh—yeah, sorry, i totally forgot. you go ahead inside and i'll be there in a sec" i told him before he cautiously left jack and i alone.
"i don't like that guy" jack muttered once kyle was out of sight.
"you don't even know him".
"well, i do know that he likes you and that's a problem for me".
i shook my head with a laugh, "he likes me to impress my parents. stop being such a crybaby" i teased as he went back to searching for the tools.
"so, my friends and i are going to this party tonight, do you want to come?" jack suddenly asked me.
"yeah, sure. where?".
"it's near where i live and i know that parties in my neighbourhood can be sketchy as fuck, but i'll take care of you" he winked and i over-dramatically touched my heart.
"can tiana and avery come along too then?" i said, because i'm pretty sure that they'd be childishly stoked to hang out with older guys.
jack nodded his head to agree, "sure, we'll pick you up from here at around eight".
"okay, well i've got to go and study now" i announced, walking backwards out the garage.
jack pointed a hammer at me, "make sure he keeps his hands off you".
"i'll try" i sang with a laugh, then left to go back inside my house.
almost an hour past of kyle and i sitting in my room in silence as we studied for our algebra exam. i was sitting up against the headboard as he lay on his stomach at the foot of the bed, facing me.
i'd just finished going through the first page of practice algebra questions until i felt kyle's eyes focus on me.
"siena," he said and i hummed without looking up from my work, as he started tapping his pen against his textbook. "how much do you know about that guy, jack?".
i furrowed my brows at the question, "enough. why?".
"well, avery told me that he dropped out of school at sixteen and that he works in a mechanic garage—".
"and why does that matter?" my eyes instantly diverted up at his.
"because he's not right for you, siena" he sat up and told me.
"what?".
"you need someone who-who's on the same level as you, someone that your parents at least approve of" he began to explain, until his voice turned into a whisper. "do they even know about you and him?".
"okay, stop" i immediately paused him. "what is my level any ways, huh? drowning in money, stuck up and snobby? that isn't someone that i want to be with".
kyle shook his head, "no, that's not what i'm saying. i just don't trust him and i care about you, and—".
"kyle, seriously. i'm not doing this right now, so we either study or you go. your choice" i told him and he hesitated then let out a sigh, before going back to his original position to carry on working.

later that night, jack had arrived to pick up my friends and i from the corner near my house, along with sam driving and johnson in shotgun.
we were driving in the car for around five minutes until sam turned the music down, "so, are any of you ladies single?" he typically questioned.
"yeah, why?" tiana answered.
"well, because today's your lucky day baby girl" he added and i subtly rolled my eyes. "how about you, avery?".
she shook her head, "nope, taken and proud".
"aw, that's too bad ma because i was willing to share".
"share what?" she wondered.
"daddy wilk".
"dude, do you always have to make sure that every girl you meet knows that you're into daddy kink?" johnson inquired.
sam glanced back from the wheel quickly, "if she's hot like these ladies right here, then yes".
"jack, can you please tell sam to stop flirting with my friends?" i groaned and he just laughed at my complaint.
"i can't tame his fuckboy ways" he told me.
"hey, just because you rejected me siena, doesn't mean that they have to do the same!" sam defensively exclaimed.
i folded my arms, "i rejected you for a reason".
"are you sure you're not just jealous now? because there's plenty of daddy wilk left for you, babe".
"hey, watch it" jack immediately remarked.
"oh, so now you can tame his fuck boys ways?" i scoffed.
"only when it comes to you, i can" he clarified, leaning in to apologetically kiss me on the lips.
"gross" johnson looked back and grimaced.
"aw, leave them alone" avery spoke before jack kissed me one last time just to annoy johnson.
"yeah, they're cute as hell" tiana added.
"well, that could be us one day, ma" sam said, winking at her through the rearview mirror before she evidently blushed behind him.
we finally pulled up to the party and walked towards the front door, that was unlocked and open for us to come in.
we went straight through the crowd to the kitchen, so that we could get some drinks and saw nate standing by the counter, talking to a few people.
"finally, you guys made it" he came to us. "and you bought some friends with you" he added, staring up and down at my friends and i.
"she's taken, she's jack's and she's mine, so back off" sam instantly referred to tiana.
"i think we should let her be the judge of that" nate licked his lips at her, before we started preparing ourselves some cups from the countless bottles set out.
after finishing two drinks and taking a few shots, i went back into the living room to socialise and get to know a bunch of a new people.
the vibe of this party and everyone here was completely different to what i'm used to, but it was new so i liked it.
i was currently in the middle of talking to this girl about where i got my dress from until a pair of arms wrapped around my waist.
"come on, you're dancing with me" i heard jack whisper in my ear.
i smiled at him and quickly apologised to the girl, before he took me away to the middle of the room where everyone else was dancing. jack held onto my hips from behind as i swayed against him to the kid ink song playing.
"and where have you been hiding these moves?" he bent down to my ear.
"nowhere, just took you long enough to uncover them" i said and he smirked, placing a kiss on my shoulder as we continued dancing to the music.
