siena's pov
"guys, i can't believe i'm missing harrison's party for this" i groaned as i spoke through the phone to my best friends.
"me neither, we've been planning this for weeks" tiana said. "your dad has got to learn how to lighten up a bit".
"tell me about it" i agreed, as i fell back onto my pillow and face palmed to the amount of times that my dad has ruined my plans.
"wait, why is your dad making you stay home again?" avery questioned.
"to have dinner with his employee and nineteen year old son".
"ooo, is he cute?" tiana gushed.
"i don't know, i haven't even seen him yet. but if i'm missing a party for this, he better be".
"siena! come downstairs and greet our guests" i heard my mother call, and i rolled my eyes and sat up on my bed.
"guys, i have to go. the nightmare begins" i exaggerated.
"i doubt it will be that bad, siena" avery said.
"yeah, we'll text you later with all of the after-party-details any ways" tiana assured.
"okay, make sure you don't have too much fun without me" i finally joked and quickly ended the call after we said our goodbyes.
i walked down the large staircase, holding onto the wooden bannister as my parents stood with an older, tall and slightly tanned man, that i assumed was mr gilinsky.
"siena, i would like you to meet david gilinsky" my dad introduced. we both shook hands, but he held a smile across his wrinkled face, while i gave back a fake and quick grin.
as mr gilinsky followed my parents into the living room, i whipped out my phone to check for any party updates already, but the doorbell interrupted me so i walked towards opening it.
"siena, honey, could you answer the door for david's son?" my mother called as i brushed off my floral dress, pulled on the handle and revealed an unknown figure.
i instantly examined his tall stance, dark hair, distinctive eyebrows and all the way down to the fairly new sneakers that looked almost two sizes, too big for him.
he wore a leather jacket rather than a suit jacket, so i could already suspect that he was the type of guys that my parents would never let me associate with.
then he randomly had a smart shirt underneath it, so i assumed that it was the only decent clothing that his dad could actually get him to wear.
but, the neat structure of his clenched jaw was mainly what i was mesmerised by until i heard a throat clear and i jumped out of my reverie.
"is staring at me like that just how rich people open doors or..."
"what? no, sorry, hi, i'm siena" i quickly answered, holding my hand out for him to shake.
"jack," he responded, before releasing from my hold and gestured behind him. "nice cars, you've got out there by the way"
"oh, thanks" i replied. "your car's pretty nice too".
he chuckled gently and cocked his brow, "you don't have to lie. it's okay".
"i-i'm not lying, i like pickup trucks" i immediately defended and he nodded his head, still refusing to believe me.
"so can i come in or are we just going to stand out here talking about cars?" he asked as he softly moistened his lips.
"yeah, of course," i instantly moved to the side for him to enter and once i shut the door, my little sister came skipping towards us.
her high blonde ponytail, that was finished with a blue ribbon swung from side to side, just as she stopped and stared up at jack.
"hi, i'm isabelle" she waved. i watched him surprisingly smile at her glowing innocence, and then eventually crouch down to her height.
"hi isabelle, i'm jack. how old are you?".
"six" she replied with a demonstration on her fingers.
"wow, you're a big girl aren't you?" he exaggerated, a smile still across his lips.
"but, i'll be seven on thursday!".
jack's eyes quickly widened, "really? well happy birthday for thursday then" he said, before giving her a small pat on the head and standing back up.
my mother soon followed into the entryway with a welcoming smile, "well, you must be jack. nice to meet you".
"you too" he said.
"dinner's prepared on the table, so everyone follow me" she gestured and my sister, jack and i trailed behind her into our large dining room.

after most of us had finished eating the dinner that was prepared, i was beginning to become impatient.
upon jack's arrival, the party slipped my mind and i was starting to accept my dad's order of staying for this dinner. but, then he made no effort to speak to me throughout the entire meal even though we were sat next to one another.
now i'm hoping my dad will let me leave and attend the remaining hours of harrison's party. although, he was too busy conversing with david, that he hasn't even excused us from the table.
my leg started bouncing up and down, as i constantly glanced over at the clock. whereas, jack sat beside me, scrolling through his phone and laughing quietly to himself.
"...sorry, excuse me, one second" david told my dad. "jack, can you put your phone away? be respectful, " he said, just as jack quickly glanced up from his lap.
"no david, it's fine. i can tell that sitting here listening to us go on about work is torture. isabella, you can go play and siena, give jack a tour around the house, please" my dad ordered.
"but-..." i tried to speak, but he gave me a small glare. "...fine. let's go".
i pushed myself out of my seat to leave the dining room and naturally expected jack to follow behind me.
fifteen minutes went by and jack was now part texting, and part paying attention to the tour of my own home.
"this is the study room, the gym, the music room..." i monotonously explained, since i knew very well that he wasn't even listening.
"then we have six bedrooms, each with individual bathrooms, and then downstairs, i'll show you the back garden" i added and started to make my way down.
once we got outside, jack finally locked his phone as we started to walk on the huge patio. we then began to circle around our pool that was lit up perfectly with multi coloured lights, under the darkening sky.
"so, i'm guessing this is the end of your house tour?" jack asked and i nodded my head. "aw and i was just beginning to enjoy it".
i furrowed my brows as i couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or not.
"really? because with your eyes never leaving your phone, it looked like it was the last thing that you'd find interesting".
"oh, don't take it personally. i'd just prefer not to take in the fact that my place is a dump compared to this" he explained and i awkwardly struggled to find a response, that i decided to change the topic.
"so, uh, what college do you go to?".
"i don't" he simply answered.
"oh, so college wasn't the one for you then?".
he stuffed his hands in his pants pockets, "well, i never finished high school, so no it wasn't. but i just work at a mechanic garage now".
i nodded my head and continued to walk around the edges of my backyard beside him.
"what college do you go to?" he asked me.
"i don't. i'm in my last year of high school. i go to calabasas prep" i explained, before jack suddenly smirked at my answer.
"surprise, surprise" he mumbled as his fingers trailed across the rose bush.
"excuse me?".
"well, it's just that from the way that you're dressed, your house, the food you eat; i already assumed that you were part of those stuck up, rich kids" he explained and my mouth helplessly widened with shock at his insult.
"just because i have a high financial status and go to one of the top schools in california, that doesn't mean that i'm stuck up".
jack whistled through his teeth and bought his head slightly closer, "telling me that you go to one of the top schools in california sounds quite stuck up to me".
i immediately stopped walking and held his chest back with my hand.
"okay, you've known me for less than two hours, so don't you dare think that you've got me all figured out because you don't".
i pointed my manicured finger at him, but his tall height forced me to look up and seem incredibly smaller.
"damn, you're cute when you're angry" he mentioned with his teeth softly bitting down on his bottom lip.
i knew that my cheeks were probably turning bright red by the second, but i shook my head and scoffed at his reply - hurriedly walking past him to go back inside my house.
i went and sat down on one of the staircase steps with my phone unlocked. jack soon came back inside and my dad escorted david to the front door.
"there you are, jack, just the person i need" i heard my dad say, so i lifted my head and he placed his hand on jack's shoulder.
"i was wondering if you would be interested in helping me clear my garage tomorrow and maybe help build a few bits and bobs" he continued, but jack smirked at his offer.
"no, thanks" he said and removed my dad's hand.
david nervously laughed and tightly put his arm around his son, "he's-he's just being silly"
"no, i'm not. i'm not doing it".
"jack," he aggressively warned.
"okay, how about this. i'll pay you fifteen dollars an hour?" my dad offered with his arms sternly folded across his chest.
"twenty five" jack instantly bargained.
"deal," my dad laughed, "wow, you've got quite a son here, david" he said, as he firmly shook jack's hand.
jack's eventually glanced over his shoulder, as i continued to sit on the stairs. he let out a small snicker and licked his lips, but i rolled my eyes and started to go upstairs to my room - wondering whether seeing him again tomorrow will be as bad as i think.
