A/N: i changed where jack works, he works at a mechanic garage now bc why not.
siena's pov
the next morning, i headed out to the front of the house since my mom made me go to the mail box and collect all the letters.
i had my headphones hugged around my ears, listening to partynextdoor's album so loud that i couldn't hear a thing going on around me.
i took the bunch of letters out and flipped through them to see if any happened to be addressed to me, until my eyes did a small double-take on the garage.
i didn't even know that jack was here today, or that he was drilling a hole into the wall while his sweaty, toned and tanned torso was on show.
i realised that my mouth was slightly gaped open, so i focused back down at the letters and started to walk quickly back to my house.
"siena!" i heard my dad loudly behind me and i rested my headphones around my neck to respond.
"yes, dad?".
"could you please take jack to the hardware store?" he asked, walking towards me and soon, jack followed behind.
i narrowed my eyes, confused as to why my dad was asking me to take jack and not himself.
"you know where it is, i've showed you before" he added, barely answering my thoughts.
i hesitated for a while, looking over my dad's shoulder at jack pulling a shirt back over his head and then flashing me smile.
"okay, just let me go and get changed first" i gave in and turned to enter the front door and march upstairs to my room.

it had only been about ten minutes of driving and i was already feeling tortured by the silence in the car.
i rested my elbow on the window rim and stared out of window as we drove down the calabasas streets. jack had his hands gripped to the wheel with dark shades resting on his face, and his muscles bulging slightly from the tension in his arms.
i aimed to keep my focus on my side of car to stop my attention from diverting to his physique.
"you don't talk much, do you?" jack glanced over to me, and i was slightly uncomfortable by the fact that i couldn't see where his eyes were looking.
"i do," i corrected. "i just have nothing to say".
"well, you must have something to say".
i shrugged, "okay, fine. why are you wearing shades like you're ready to film men in black 4?".
jack chuckled, shaking his head and removed the shades from his face to settle them down beside him.
"you could have just said that you wanted to see my beautiful eyes instead".
"i mean, i would. but then i'd be lying".
"how about when you were drooling over my abs earlier, were you lying then?" jack raised his brows at my embarrassed cheeks and kept an agitating sneer on his face.
but i decided to just keep quiet and fold my arms to save myself from further embarrassment.
"hey, it's all good because it's not like i don't stare at your body everyday, even when you wear that hideous uniform" he somewhat complimented.
"wow, i am so flattered" i sarcastically gushed and rolled my eyes
"is sarcasm just your thing or...?".
i ran my hands through my hair as the wind came through the windows, "i have my days. but when you're around, it's a whole other level".
"is that because i make you nervous?" he suggested, his lips instantly curving upwards.
to be honest, i don't know how to answer that question because i don't even think i know the truth myself.
but i do know that i have to answer or else jack will think it's true.
"but, you can be an ass when you're around me" i turned to him. "so do i make you nervous?".
"well, yeah. you do" jack surprisingly spoke and i almost choked on the gum i was chewing.
"i do?".
he nodded his head, looking ahead at the road, "i get butterflies whenever i see you and when i'm around you, i can hardly breathe. but it's weird, because being with you is when i'm happiest".
my mouth went completely dry after his words that i could barely respond, "jack, i-"
before i could say another word, he snickered and burst into laughter - holding his stomach with one hand and keeping the other on the wheel.
i immediately folded my arms across my chest and narrowed my eyes at his ridiculous prank.
"d-did you actually think, i-i was serious?" he spoke in between laughs.
i shook my head at his humour, then happened the develop a small smile on my face at the way he laughed rather than the joke itself.
"i hate you so much" i said, trapping my lips in my mouth to stop myself from spurting out a chuckle.
"no you don't, you love me" jack assured as he calmed down his laughter.
"hate you".
"love me. i mean, why else would you tolerate what i just did? any other girl would have slap me" he said.
"oh, if you want to get slapped i would gladly do it".
"and ruin this face? yeah, right" he said and i grimaced at his extensive level of cockiness.
"when will you stop being so annoying and cocky?" i turned to him and asked.
"when will you admit that you like me?".
before i could comprehend a response, for the fourth time since we got to the car, jack's phone's been ringing from a number named: L.
every time, he refuses to answer the call and i just haven't managed to confront him about it yet.
"aren't you going to answer that?" i eventually questioned.
"not while i'm driving".
"okay, then should i-".
"no!" he yelled, shielding the phone with his hand. "i mean, no. it's fine, i'll just, uh, call them back later".
i began to wonder what he could be hiding behind that phone call. maybe it's an ex girlfriend or a current girlfriend that he just hasn't mentioned.
but either way, i have no right to question him. i mean, we barely even know each other.
i soon decided to drop the whole phone conspiracy and just focused on getting to the hardware store and back.
"take a right here" i ordered.
"yeah, sure" he replied and decided to take a left.
i knitted my brows together, looking back at the right he missed, "what are you doing?".
"i need to stop at the garage that i work at" jack casually smiled. "then, we'll go to the hardware store on the way back".
"but that's like another twenty minutes away?".
"which gives us plenty of time to talk" he glanced at me with a wink.
"jack, stop the car" i demanded, but he shook his head.
"nope".
"oh, so you're kidnapping me now?".
he chuckled, "trust me babe, this isn't kidnap".
i sat back in the seat, completely annoyed and took no further attempt to stop him from driving us to this new destination.

after a longer drive and countless moments of sarcasm and cockiness, jack pulled up outside an old mechanic garage and turned off the ignition.
"stay here," he told me and opened the door, letting in the smell of gas and oil, and the sound of radio music and mechanical tools working.
i watched him go around the car and be greeted by one brunette guy, who i recognised from the park the other day and blonde guy, who i didn't know.
jack's friends stood in red, dirty overalls and looked over at me in the car, once he gestured behind him.
after, they disappeared into the garage and minutes past of me growing tired of just sitting here and waiting for jack to finish his catch up session.
so, i stepped out of the car and shut the door behind me, entering the same way that jack did.
