Dreaming isn't always Good
I fell back onto the soft bed, and started to close my eyes. It had been a long drive, and I was drop dead exhausted.
I was there.
By the old oak tree, where Luke and I had first met. The place I regretted going to, all those years ago. The place that brought me into the nastiest relationship of my life.
Piper was supposed to meet me here. We had a bike ride planned, and she told me she had big news for me. I looked down at my phone again. No new messages. Piper always called me if she had any changes, she was very prepared.
I started to pack up all my stuff, while looking down at my phone.
I was knocked down by a brute force.
"Hey, are you okay?" The new voice asked.
I looked up from the rough ground.
I met my eyes with new ones, bright and icy blue. They looked like they could shoot lasers. One was even icier, because it had a long, jagged scar running from the bottom of his eyebrow, and stopped right where his nose began, while running through his eye. His hair was a bright blonde, and almost white, too.
"I-I'm fine." I tried to reassure him, but he shook his head.
"No, you're not. You have a giant gash on the side of your head. I'm taking you to the ER." He demanded, hands on his hips.
"I don't even know you!" I countered. He smirked. That damn smirk.
"I'm Luke." He said, and grabbed my hand and pulled me up.
"Annabeth." I said, and shook his hand while standing.
I shot upright in bed. This couldn't be happening. I was too tired to even think, and against my will, I fell back asleep.
We were at one of the fanciest restaurants I've ever been to. I was wearing a nice dress, light blue, and when I ran my hands over it, it felt like water rushing underneath me. Later, it would be in donations, but not now. Luke grabbed my hand.
"I've made a reservation. I thought it would be fun to go on a date again." He said, grinning like an idiot. I couldn't tell for sure but I thought he was fingering or playing with something in his pocket. I plastered on a fake smile, and we walked to our table.
Not long after we made our small talk, a silence fell through the air. Luke took a deep breath.
"Annie, I've loved you for a while now," he began. And I took a deep breath.
Don't say yes. Don't say yes.
"Will you marry me?" He asked, and pulled out a velvet box, and a tiny elegant ring sat in the middle. It was covered in tiny little diamonds, and it was the most gorgeous thing I'd ever seen, and yet the ugliest thing at the same time.
I looked into his eyes, trying to make mine look as pleading as possible.
"I-umm"
His eyes were fierce, and if looks could kill, then I would've been murdered by now.
"Yes." I said, close to cracking into tears.
But not happy ones. No, these tears were of pain, and sadness.
I rolled over onto my stomach.
It's just a dream, just a dream.
I looked at the alarm clock. 3:27 am. I closed my eyes, begging for sleep.
I looked in the floor length mirror. My dress was amazing, but it wasn't right. I hated it. I hated all of this. I turned around, to where my father was waiting, his arm outstretched. I gave a weak smile and took it. I watched my few bridesmaids walk down the isle, one by one, slowly with the groomsmen. I had this nagging thought in my head.
Run. You can be free.
I gulped and took my first step, with every one filled with regrets.
Going to the park that day
Our first kiss
All of those date nights
Saying yes to his proposal.
Going through with it.
The minister started to babble as I looked down at my shoes, nervous as humanly possible.
"Do you, Luke Micheal Castellan take Annabeth Marie Chase as your awfully wedded wife?"
"I do." Like said, grinning.
"And do you, Annabeth Marie Chase, take Luke Micheal Castellan as your awfully wedded husband?"
I looked at Luke's grinning face and took a deep breath.
"No." I demanded.
Luke's face froze in anger. I kicked my shoes off and ran, far away, and with each step, felt a weight coming off my shoulders.
I fluttered my eyes open, and reached out to the side of the bed. My hand reached a hot chest, and I smiled and kissed his cheek.
I had found real love this time. This was different from Luke, or any of my ex-boyfriends that I had ever had. I truly loved him.
