Chapter 10

I woke up to the smell of smoke and the forest. The sun had pretty much vanished for the day.

As my vision began to clear I could see in front of me a small fire and around it three men. Thawn, Raven and my own brother Blaise.

"The storm awakens," Thawn said making eye contact with me. I tried to move my hands, shortly before realising there was a thick rope tying them and the rest of my body to a tree.

"Where's Robyn?" I asked deeply.

"Relax, Alpha. She's perfectly safe...for now," Raven replied a smirk on his face.

"Where is she!?" I growled.

"With Fern and Atlas," Blaise said sounding bored. "You really like her don't you?"

Raven scoffed and a smirk inhabited his lips.

"Wow, Sherlock! Where did you get that from?!" he said in a sardonic tone as I fought against the ropes.

I didn't trust my brothers with anything let alone Robyn.

After ten minutes of no luck with the whole escaping movement, I retired to catch my breath. My brother and the other two obnoxious men I had the misfortune to grow up with watched me struggle, jeering and laughing just as they always had.

That was when I heard her.

A high pitched scream coming from more than ten miles away, but I could tell it was her all the same.

I broke free from the ropes effortlessly with some kind of new force and determination. With my mysterious newfound strength, the threads ruptured and frayed allowing me to untangle myself from their loosened hung and being to sprint through the autumn leaves and trees before anyone at the fire even had time to process my escape.

I covered the ten miles in less than twenty minutes. My muscles burnt and my lungs heaved. I had scratched across my arms and face from the overgrown forest, but I had her scent and she was close.

It took me only minutes to find them. Fern was carrying her unconscious body in his arms and Atlas was walking nearby them.

"Fern," I growled deeply. They both halted.

"Yes brother?" he said turning around. His words were confident, but I could tell he was on edge by the way he spoke and how he stood. "Whatever could be the matter?"

"You know exactly what. Give her to me," I ordered staring down at my best friend whos beautiful chestnut hair hung loosely down as she slept.

"No," Fern replied. I stepped forward causing the two of them to retreat.

"The elder wants her back alive, but he never specified being...untouched," Atlas said to Fern in a sick and demonic tone that I didn't know even he could summon.

"You may be my brothers, but I swear to God if you hurt her I will not have any trouble killing you both without hesitation," I growled.

"You don't have it in you," Fern tested.

"Wanna bet?" I replied raising my eyebrow.
