H A R R Y 🔫
As I stood on the first floor, hands pressed against the thick stone railing, gazing over the mass of people gathered on the marble dance floor; I reminisced back to the time I attended one of these extravagant balls. It was during Scarlett's first mission.
My pale jade eyes gazed over the huge amount of people who've turned up, dressed in the colors black, red and gold, attire literally dripping with money. The Comet had announced the ball to be a Spanish masquerade ball, the theme being ebony black, ravishing red, and glowing gold, along with the masks.
I leaned against the large pillar next to me, finger tugging on my lip ring habitually. My eyes traveled up the enormous chandelier that hung from the ceiling, lights sparkling and shining brighter that any of the gems worn by the women and some men. Two identical stone staircases curled up from the sides of the ballroom, leading up to the first floor and forming a stupendous balcony.
My teeth sunk into my lower lip as I watched people enter through the grand double doors, keeping my eyes peeled open for αήττητος whom could be arriving any moment now. With a little more digging, we finally managed to find out what the other team members of αήττητος looked like, as well as the leader, just so we could keep an eye on them while they engage in their plan to take down The Comet.
"Is everyone in place?" I heard Vlad's gruff voice speak to me through the transparent earpiece that was in my ear, hidden away by my long curls.
"Yep," I said, popping the 'p' as I gazed through my jet-black masquerade mask.
Everyone from Valkyrie, apart from Max and Vlad, were spread around the ballroom, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious, but mostly for αήττητος. My gaze flickered to each member, spotting Seth by the bar, Jade standing by the balcony, and Damien on the other side of the room standing on the second floor.
"Good, because they just arrived," Vlad responded smoothly, causing my throat to tighten.
My alert eyes immediately darted to the double doors, which were swung open by the doormen allowing three couples to walk in, along with one man trailing behind. The first couple was of a dark-skinned woman, looking mighty fierce in a skintight black gown with gold detailing and a low V-neck. Viola. Her dark mask concealed her face as she strolled in with her hand clutching the bicep of one, unbelievably tall man. Makoa A.K.A Cerebus. The Hawaiian man was dressed up smartly in a simple suit with a white button up, the collar popped open with this lengthy hair flowing down to his shoulders.
My gaze moved onto the couple behind. A tall fair-skinned women with short raven black hair walked with her chin held up, her piercing green eyes staring straight ahead through her mask as an aura of intimidation surrounded her, as if challenging anyone and everyone to come at her. Ebony A.K.A Scylla. A black velvet dress hugged her slim body, baring her sharp collarbones and shoulders as she walked in with her arm curled around another man's arm. Ji-yong A.K.A Hydra .The Korean man was shorter, dressed in a sharp all black tux with a detailed mask covering his face.
As my eyes moved onto the next couple, my jaw dropped, breath hitching my throat at the sight of the beautiful woman whom I still very much so loved. Words couldn't describe how incredibly stunning Scarlett looked tonight. Her dress didn't follow the theme, yet it didn't matter because she literally stole the show. Her slim body adorned a dusty pink dress, almost a nude color; a detailed corset hugged her midriff, accentuating her cleavage while the rest of her dress flowed freely. The sparkly sheer bottom part of the dress billowed out as she walked with confidence, her tanned legs breaking through the slits of her dress.
A creamy white and gold mask covered her face, only revealing her big brown eyes and nude pink lips. Her dark chocolate hair, which now had caramel highlights, flowed down her bare back in soft curls. I felt my heart swell up at the sight of her, admiring how incredibly beautiful she looked tonight, but as soon as my eyes trailed over to her hand that grasped the bicep of another man, my jaw clenched and eyes narrowed.
The man whom smiled down at her, looked vaguely familiar but I couldn't pinpoint where I had seen him before. His chocolate colored hair was styled up into a quiff, his leafy green eyes again reminding me of someone I had seen before as they gazed down at my girl. His plump pink lips curled into a smirk as he ducked down for Scarlett to whisper in his ear, a chuckle leaving his lips as he pulled away. My jaw clenched once again, fingers gripping the stone railing hard as I narrowed my eyes at him, remembering his name from the pictures I saw yesterday when we were studying the team members of αήττητος. Donovan A.K.A Chimaera
"She looks gorgeous," Vicky spoke up quietly from next to me, her lips parting as we both stared down at the crowd.
"She does," I murmured lowly, feeling a little overwhelmed by just seeing her there, looking healthy and alive after pretty much falling off a goddamn cliff into a river full of bull sharks.
My eyes took a glance at Vicky, gazing at the divine gold sequence gown that hugged her body and matched her hair. She turned to look at me, a smile curving into her lips before she spoke.
"We'll get her back, Harry," she told me quietly, her words making me nod silently before sighing harshly when that man caught my eye again.
"I'm gonna kill that guy," I grunted, watching how Donovan's hand slid down Scarlett's naked back, resting on the small of her back. Vicky chuckled at my words, her hand coming up to squeeze my shoulder.
"Not tonight," she reminded me, before the man who came in walking behind Scarlett and Donovan caught her eye. "That's Sami," she whispered, her big blue eyes following the Arab kid who walked in dressed in a dashing suit consisting of a white jacket and black pants.
"No fooling around, Vicky," I warned her playfully, making her roll her eyes at me, smacking my bicep. "Spencer will be upset."
"Shut up," she groaned lightly, making me chuckle before I jutted my elbow out, a smile curving into my lips.
A soft grin dipped into her lips, her delicate fingers curling around my bicep as she held up her masquerade mask, concealing her face before we began to walk towards the stairs. As we descended the stairs, The Comet gathered on the balcony, a group of about five people, three women and two men, dressed lavishly as they stood and conversed for a second. They all took glasses of champagne, the leader of the board, a biracial woman holding up her glass as a signal for the chatter to lessen.
As we reached the stairs, the woman whose name was Natasha spoke loudly, her voice echoing throughout the entire ballroom loud and clear. She thanked everyone was has been able to attend tonight's ball, celebrating The Comet being in order and staying at the top of the hierarchy of importance for a decade now. Vicky and I parted ways quietly, knowing that the speech was just a distraction for both of us to get into our places. Vicky was supposed to 'seduce' Sami, while I was meant to do the same to Scarlett. The others, Damien, Jade and Seth made sure that the rest of αήττητος was occupied with their mission on taking out The Comet.
"I got new information," Max suddenly spoke into my ear, causing me to jolt slightly in surprise.
"What is it?" I whispered, walking to a corner of the ballroom, leaning against the wall as my eyes lay fixated on Scarlett.
"Damien listened in on a conversation between Viola and Makoa, with that bionic spy ear thing Raoul made. Turns out at exactly 10:00 the lights will go out and αήττητος will take action. It's 8:45 now, so you and Vicky have enough time to get Scarlett and Sami before that," Max told me clearly, this time he made sure he tuned in everyone else's earpieces so they could record this new information into their minds too.
"Right, where do we bring them?" I questioned sharply, watching how Scarlett excused herself from a conversation she was engaged with.
"To the roof," he answered, before telling me the directions as I saw Scarlett approach the bar and taking a seat there.
"Do The Comet know of what's going to happen?" I muttered under my breath questioningly, tucking my hands into my pockets as I walked towards the bar.
"Yes and they're fully prepared. We just have to get Scarlett and Sami and then we're out. Do you have the poison?" Max asked.
"Don't call it that," I groaned lightly, grimacing at the thought. Scarlett obviously wouldn't willingly go with me, and neither would Sami; so Vicky and I had to spike their drinks. "Yes of course."
"Whoops sorry mate. I dunno what to call it. Anyways, good luck," Max bid me goodbye before he was out.
My eyes darted around, checking if Scarlett was completely alone without the likes of Donovan lurking around or any other member of their team. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Vicky talking to Sami, already flirting with him and making him smile and laugh. As I turned my head back, my eyes landed on Scarlett, whose back was faced towards me as she sat with her body facing away from the bar, but her elbows resting on the counter top as she ordered a drink.
I felt sudden anxiety flood me all of a sudden, my mouth forming a rigid grimace as I swallowed thickly. I wasn't exactly sure why I was nervous or anxious, but it had been around five months since Scarlett was gone, supposedly dead; and now here she was, sitting there in the most beautiful dress, drinking and conversing with the bartender, as she had no memory of me. But the Scarlett I knew was a curious person, and me saying her name that day caused confusion to flood her, I could see it in her eyes. If anything, this curiosity must've been eating her up ever since that night, so perhaps there was a chance she'd come with me willingly than me having to resort to spiking her drink.
The seat next to her was empty, my body moving on its own accord, climbing onto the seat. I felt her gaze fall on me as I called over a bartender and asked for a scotch. I felt her gaze fall away from me for a second when the bartender arrived with my drink, sliding it across the counter and into my hand. I took a sip, feeling the drink burn my throat and calm my nerves.
"Fancy seeing you here," she spoke, my breath halting in my throat at the sound of her voice, just reminding me again of how much I had missed it.
"A ball held by The Comet? Pretty sure The Organization is on top of the guest list," I found myself responding coolly, feeling foreign that I was talking to her like we were strangers. In a way we were strangers, due to her loss in memories.
I finally turned to face her, my bright green eyes locking with her alluring dark ones, bringing back a thousand memories of how I fell in love with those exact pair of eyes, which now stared back at me with no emotion. I forced myself to turn the corners of my lips upwards, smirking at her lightly before I turned away to take a swig of my scotch.
"The Organization won't be at the top forever y'know?" she muttered, her face completely stoic as she spoke.
"Are you going to make sure of that?"
"Not me. Her," she said, ticking her head in the direction of Viola, whom chatted causally with a group of people.
"But you're her puppet, her being the puppet master," I spoke quietly.
"Unfortunately that's true, I don't have a choice," she told me, thumb tracing the gold Yves Saint Laurent sign on the top of her nude clutch.
"You do," I blurted out, causing her to frown at me.
"Is this about that night, when you called me-"
"Scarlett," I whispered, swallowing thickly as I bobbed my head and looked away. The emotions from that night were still fresh in my memory, the way my heart broke when she gazed back in confusion when I said her name.
"Who is that?" I heard her say, her words almost making me want to scoff, but I simply shook my head sadly.
"It's you, you're Scarlett and you don't even know it," I mumbled sadly, glancing at my watch reading the time as 9:15.
"I-I'm sorry, they did something to me so I can't remember," she stuttered, unsure of what to say. She looked conflicted, deciding on whether to question me more on her past or whether I was just lying to her this entire time. "Tell me more," she demanded, her eyes alert now, almost frustrated with her self for not remembering.
"What more would you like to know?" I asked, taking another sip from my scotch. She drew back, gaze averting as she bit her lip thoughtfully.
"Okay, first off, Viola said I grew up with Omega. I was abandoned as a child and she saved me and I've been training ever since to be a part of αήττητος," she told me, eyes looking up as she tried to recall whatever lies Omega had told her. "Recently I was getting suspicious since I couldn't remember my past at all, so she told me I got caught up in an accident during a mission and lost my memories-"
"Lies," I uttered, my voice incredibly low and filled with anger. My jaw was clenched; pale jade eyes narrowed drastically as I stared down at his glass, clutching it until my knuckles turned white. "Those are all lies."
"I knew it," she whispered, shaking her head slightly as her gaze caught the sight of Viola laughing at something an old fat man said to her, in the distance.
I shook my head bitterly, my lips forming a tight grimace as I felt the anger boil in my veins. I wanted to hurl this glass of scotch at the wall in fury, utterly vexed by the fact that these people think they can just do something like that to Scarlett. They faked her death, took away her memories, told her lies about her past just so she wouldn't get suspicious, and I was sure they were using her for some reason which we had yet to find out.
Leaving my glass on the counter, I stood up, glancing at Scarlett as a signal to follow me before I walked. Her perfect brows pulled together in slight confusion before she followed me. We climbed up the stairs, moving to the first floor where it was mostly empty except for a few people chatting and drinking champagne.
But suddenly, behind me I heard an oomph. Spinning around, I found Scarlett apologizing to a man she had bumped into before crouching down to pick up her things that had fallen out of her clutch. Glaring at the man who simply looked back at me in confusion, I moved to help her. My gaze caught something glinting on the floor, a silver necklace with a ring as it's pendent. The ring looked utterly familiar, and when I picked it up I realized why.
"Holy shit," I breathed, staring at the ring Scarlett had given me ages ago. The silver ring that had the word 'Always' engraved into it.
"What? That's mine," she muttered, trying to snatch it out of my hands but I pulled back quickly. She furrowed her brows, noticing how strangely I was still gazing at the ring.
"How did you get this?" I asked her.
"Donovan gave it to me, despite him being part of Viola's evil plan to I dunno, use me, he said that it was from my real past, another indication my past with Omega was unreal," she explained as I swallowed thickly.
"Scarlett, you gave this to me, as a gift," I said softly, taking her small hand into mine and pressing the ring into it.
Her lips parted, gaze flickering between my own to the ring in my hand. The way I handled it, with care and love, indicated to her that this was something precious to me. Her lips pursed together, eyebrows drawing low as she again felt overcome with emotions, confusion, frustration, anger; it all swam in the dark hues of her umber eyes.
"Shit," she breathed, her eyes narrowing as she was overwhelmed "I'm sorry I don't remember you, uh shit I don't even know your name-"
"Harry," I smiled softly, a smile filled with sadness that made her frown in sympathy. "Harry Styles," I held my hand out, making her smile slightly before taking it.
"I would say my name is Phoenix, but obviously it's not. Scarlett-"
"Jones," I chuckled. "Your name is Scarlett Jones."
"When you don't even know your own name," she joked, laughing lightly before I stood up and held my hand out for her. She took it, her warm hand slipping into mine perfectly as she stood up.
"I promise you, nobody is more livid about this than I am. Omega thinks they can do whatever they want whenever they want, but they fucking can't. I won't let them. The Organization won't let them," I said firmly, gazing deep into her eyes before I found myself moving forwards to her.
Her lips parted in surprise when my fingers rose up to touch her face, thumb lightly skimming her cheekbone. I wanted to kiss her so badly, the sight of her literally standing in front of me after thinking she was dead all this time, tempting me to my limit. But I had to hold back, until how long I didn't know, but for now I had to control myself. Her eyes were filled with pity, confusion and sympathy, feeling bad that she couldn't remember me.
"Harry, what was I to you?" she whispered in questioning, her words making me smile gently. I had a feeling she knew the answer herself, but just wanted to make sure. "A friend? A mentor? What?"
"Scarlett, you were my lover."

✖️ thoughts on this chapter? Does anyone feel bad for Harry like I do? 😫😫😫
✖️saying this for later on, but please don't expect Scarlett to immediately trust Harry when he says he knows her and etc. Omega has been lying to her this whole time so she's kind of conflicted and unsure of who to trust.
But y'know once it becomes more obvious that Scarlett does indeed has a past with The Organization, she trusts them and etc.
JUST GOTTA BE PATIENT Y'ALL😘
Until we meet again...
