Wills words haunted me. No girls allowed on the team? I was mad, I was pissed off and I was confused. How could girls just be excluded from a sport? and worse yet Athletics in general, merely confined to the arts department and only able to do the regulation gym hours and golf.

And I hated golf.

The week of the tryouts I was livid. I had been screaming feminist rants all weekend and my mother was understanding but told me there was probably very little I could do because changing tradition almost never worked. So obviously that made me even more mad.

So on Tuesday, three days before those tryouts and I still hadn't thought of a solution. Walking into English I was still figuring out a solution but my mind came up blank, even all the way here I didn't think of a single plan.

Not one.

I walked up to the desk I shared with Rikki and I think she noticed something on my mind. "What's wrong Maggie?" I sat down beside her and smoothed down my dress. "I was just worried about-" I never got to finish my sentence because Miss Blake walked into the room and she had a commanding presence which always made the room silent.

"Alright class today we will be starting Shakespeare" there was a collective groan amount at the class but I actually didn't mind Shakespeare really, I was indifferent to it but I didn't love it. Sometimes I felt it was just too old fashioned to love.

That and it was so cliche?

I watched Miss Blake write Twelfth Night on the board and I cocked my head, I didn't remember that one. "Who can tell me what Twelfth night is actually about?" Miss Blake asked sitting on the edge of her desk. The class was quite until a guy piped up "a night that happens to be the Twelfth?" There was a laughter and I didn't understand why, it wasn't even creative.

Miss Blake smirked "no try again." One of the girls at the front piped up "it about twins Viola and Sebastian who become separated and Viola disguises herself as a man and then she falls in love with Duke Orsino while in disguise" Miss Blake nodded "yes that's the premise of the play and while I believe this play is lesser appreciated I find it's one of my favourites"

She walked between the desks handing us copies of the play. "I want you to read the first few pages and ponder what is happening. In a couple of weeks I want you to write an essay on twelfth night to a question of my own design."

I grabbed the book and flipped through it, I don't know about this...it felt a bit unrealistic I mean, how could someone not notice someone was a girl in disguise? I mean bloody hell you'd have to be blind.

A lot of the English class was spent analysing Shakespeare's background and some of the characters in Twelfth night which kept my interest. After class had ended Rikki walked side by side with me, we had become fast friends and we always wandered the halls together.

"This bites, I hate this text" Rikki grumbled and I nodded in response, I wasn't particularly excited for it. "Isn't that movie She's the man based on this?" I asked her and she nodded "yeah I love that movie...I know to commemorate this shitty English subject why don't we have a movie night? I can invited Bella and Ro?" I nodded, I hadn't had a movie night with friends in months.

"A movie night sounds fun, where our invite Rikki?" We both turned to see Amelia and a girl I hadn't seen before. She was a good head shorter than me (I am not particularly tall either - hence the heels all the time) she had pale skin, long light brown hair and brown eyes and I could only assume this was the infamous Ginny King.

"You two aren't invited" Rikki narrowed her eyes at the two of them and Amelia stretched herself up to meet her eyes. "Oh we are judging teaching Rikki, your so sensitive just like..." I could see her curl up her fists but she took a deep breath. "Maggie and I need to go now Amelia, it's always a pleasure" before I could even say anything Rikki grabbed my arm and pulled me away.

"Sorry about her, she might like you and I a little less" I widened my eyes, I didn't do anything? "Anyway...you could come tomorrow? I know it's a Wednesday but I won't keep you late, swear?" She pleaded and I shrugged.

What the hell?

"Sure I'll be there"
