Chapter 4: A Sinister Blade

Kyoto seemed to be trapped under a bag of flour. And of course, Clarity did not feel in the mood to help.

"Heeelpp mee.." Kyoto wheezed, still trapped under the bag of flour. "Clarity, please.."

"Gah...why?" Clarity mumbled under her breath. "No offense, but If you haven't noticed, I'm not very physically strong."

"Might I be of some assistance?" Jamie said, standing behind Clarity. Kyoto slumped in defeat as he heard Jamie snicker loudly. "And Kyoto...*snort* Are you trapped under a bag of flour?"

"Yes, I am." Kyoto said, speaking in a monotone voice. "And could you let me up?"

"Aha, of course." Jamie said, and heaved the  bag of flour off of Kyoto easily, as though the  bag was as light as a feather.  "Anyways, what were you doing, going after the weapons?"

Kyoto flinches, and speaks slowly. "You...let me?" he said slowly.

"Oh, yeah." Jamie said, running a hand through his hair. "Forgot to debunk the trap."

"Oh, so NOW you tell me!" Kyoto half-shouted, and Jamie smirked. "You COULDN'T mention this till NOW!"

"Well.." Jamie trailed off.

"Boys, boys, could we be sensible?" Clarity interrupted, pushing the two apart. "We're just staying for a little till we figure out our plan. Right Kyoto?"

Kyoto nodded, blushing a little. "Yeah, no need to argue." he said. "Right Jamie?"

"Yeah, sure..sure." Jamie grumbled, and Kyoto nodded. "Sensible kid."

"No need to call me kid." Clarity grumbled, and Jamie smirked.

"Okay, kid." Jamie finished and Clarity groaned. This was almost like her brothers, and how they always called her shortie since she was smaller than them all. It wasn't her fault that she was shorter than her brothers. They'd went through a magical time period called puberty. (How many of you have been through that 'magical' time period? Genuine question.)

"Might we get the weapons?" Clarity asked?

"Yeeah, sure thing." Jamie muttered. "In the pantry."

"We...just did that." Clarity mumbled, and Jamie shook his head.

"Oh, go check my room.." Jamie said, shrugging. "Should be weapons there."

"Alright then." Clarity said, walking to Jamie's room. "Kyoto, you coming?"

Kyoto tilted his head at Clarity and shrugged. "You go on ahead, I've got to talk to Jamie about something."

"About what..." Clarity muttered, glaring at Jamie. "And why won't you tell me anything about these little 'talks'?"

"Err.." Jamie mumbled, looking at Kyoto and to Clarity, who was eyeing both of the boys with a level of sharp intensity. "Well..you see-"

"Alright, you got us!" Kyoto interrupted, wincing at the loudness of his own voice. "We've been talking about the monarchy!"

"....Totally." Clarity said, clearly not believing a word that Kyoto was saying. "I doubt that, but I'm not pushing the matter anymore."

Clarity tossed her hair behind her shoulders and huffed, walking towards Jamie's room.

"Boy, that girl has attitude." Jamie muttered, and Kyoto slapped his face quite promptly. "Hey, what was that for!"

"Oi, she has reason to be suspicious." Kyoto said, gesturing to himself and then to Jamie. "Look at us, huddling together in a pile, of course we look suspicious."

"True, true.." Jamie said slowly. "Now err, don't you want a weapon? I doubt Clarity's going to leave behind the best one for you."

"Oh, true!" Kyoto said, and bolted towards Jamie's room.

~~~~~
What is it like..being a weapon?
It's...strange to be sure. You last for thousands of years, with several masters. Yet, not all of them are good. Some would act reckless with my blade, and end up hurting the ones they love while at it.
Others..I would say I am proud to have them as my master. These were the ones that took extra care of me..protecting me from thieves and the wear and tear of age. These would be the ones who had decided to keep me polished, and would practice their swordsmanship many at a time.
I found myself being jostled out of my comfortable hiding space, and saw a girl, no older than thirteen if my sight did not deceive me. (Notice how I didn't say anything about eyes..I only said sight. So you can't say anything 'bout that). Russet hair went past her shoulders as her blue eyes examined me carefully.
"Hmm..you may good in a fight.." she murmered, stroking my blade and I quivered in her grasp. She felt like the one..Just one more test..
"Hello!" I shouted and the girl promptly screamed, dropping me on the ground. "Oww."
Oh, perhaps I hadn't described myself. I am a seven inch long knife, my blade around five inches long. My hilt was leather, along with several jewels embedded into the hilt. As for my value...I'd say I'm one of the top. Trust me when I say this, but my ego isn't as big as you'd assume it to be. But...I am pretty awesome.
"I am the great Sarul!" I proclaimed, and the girl hesitated before screaming again. Well, that was a little progress. "May I be your blade?"
"...Erm, sure." the girl said and picked me up again, though her grip was softer this time. "My name's  Clarity."
"Oh, nice name." I said, and cut an X on Clarity's palm.
"Oww!" Clarity said, clutching her palm as scarlet blood dripped through her hand. "What was that for!"
"It's called the binding of blades." I explained. "Basically, I share your blood and you share mine, and we're bonded for life. That means that I'll empower you to a certain extent, giving you a bit of my own strength to make you stronger, faster, and more powerful."
"Wait...knives don't have blood." Clarity said. Smart kid.
"It's metaphorical I s'ppose." I said. "Oh, by the way, could you refrain from showing me to anyone..please?"
"Sure?" Clarity said hesitantly, and immediately sheathed my blade, hiding me from the person walking into the room.
"You done Clarity?" the voice said, sounding vaguely male.
"Yeah, yeah..Just chose a knife." Clarity said, keeping a hand on me. "And you?"
"Oh, I picked out this crazy long longbow!" the boy shouted, his voice radiating happiness. "And I got a sword in case of close combat!"
"Umm..I got myself this crossbow as well." Clarity mumbled and grabbed a random crossbow. Poor fellow, he was hoping to last a couple more years..oh well. "Can we go?"
"Of course Clarity." the boy said, and I sighed. He had no idea what was going to happen on this little quest of his. "After you?"
Clarity walked out the door, and I could hear the boy follow us. I vaguely heard the two of them say goodbye to Jamie. Ha, finally could say bye to this pathetic place for rotting weaponry!
I could care less for the boy that was accompanying us. He was not much in this story...though I could be mistaken.
But Clarity, oh Clarity..now she was an important piece in this game.
How do I put this, Clarity would be the queen in a game of chess. The boy would be the king, a necessary, but nearly worthless piece of the game. And Jamie, well he was a pawn...
A necessary sacrifice.
Well, end of Chapter 4.
I suppose that was good..though I am sorry for not updating for a week. Was a little busy with schoolwork.
Anyways, thanks for reading this chapter!
