A/N: I'll try to update at least once every week, though we'll see how that goes! Sorry it's so short, I'm just not feeling very inspired at the moment.
Unfortunately, Clemont spotted Serena on her way out of the ally. "Serena!" he called out to her as she approached. "What are you doing out here?"
Serena smiled and waved back, her eyes darting back and forth as she searched for a way to avoid any Miette related questions. "Uh... hey, Clemont. I was just... exploring the city, because I thought that the scenery might help with inspiration." She neglected to mention that she'd already choreographed her showcase routine, and all she had to do was perfect it.
Clemont nodded, looking up at the vibrant blue sky. "It is quite pretty here... anyway, I'm sure that you'll find enough inspiration to make an amazing routine, just like your last one."
Serena's smile widened. She hadn't thought that she'd actually be good at Showcases when she'd performed the first time, but here she was! "Thank you so much, Clemont. You know, Fennekin and I---"
Serena paused when she saw Clemont's attention shift to someone... or something behind her. She turned over her shoulder, curious, and saw a familiar blue-haired figure. Oh no! Miette apparently had tried to sneak out of the alley without being noticed, but Clemont had seen her. Now she stood frozen like a Deerling in headlights. "Miette!" Clemont called out to her before Serena could stop him.
"Wait!" she shouted, but it was too late; Miette was already walking towards them.
"Hey," she said, uncharacteristically quiet.
"What were you and Serena doing in that alleyway?" Clemont asked, in a tone of voice that was usually only used by Bonnie. Red spread across Miette's face, and Serena felt herself blushing as well.
"Uh... nothing," Miette said. "You know, we aren't---"
Clemont cut her off. "You don't have to be ashamed of your relationship or anything. You guys are kinda cute."
Serena glanced at Miette, then looked away when they made eye contact.
"Anyway," Clemont carried on, regardless of their discomfort. "We should go eat. We're getting hungry, and it's getting late... plus, Fennekin is worried about you."
Chespin loudly agreed from his place by Clemont's feet.
In her rush to figure things out with Miette, Serena realised that she'd left Fennekin at the Pokemon Center, an unkind thing to do. She ducked her head in embarrassment and then turned to say goodbye to Miette.
Clemont smiled warmly at the blue-haired girl. "You can come too, Miette."
"No, thanks for the---"
"I insist."
Miette visibly deflated and followed after Serena. They exchanged long-suffering glances. Maybe they could prove that they weren't a couple over dinner with Serena's friends.
