ERIN FOLLOWED CLOSELY BEHIND KATNISS AND Gale with Alex by her side as Beetee led them towards his workplace.
The brunette walking beside her brother now that he refused to stay behind. She should have known that when she became a part of Katniss'
propo team, Alex would too. The two siblings would always protect each other no matter what or where they had to go.
"I've made you some surprises," Beetee told them as they walked around the unit deep below Thirteen.
Erin looked around in amazement, fascinated by all of the equipment they had. Her eyes landed on the weapons spread out on a table, ranging from guns to crossbows made specially for the rebellion.
"Maybe you wanna try one out?" Beetee suggested looking between Gale and Alex. "If you're gonna be a part of Katniss propo team, you may as well look the part."
Erin watched with Katniss as Gale and her brother both reached for a weapon and she smiled lightly when she saw Gale resting a crossbow against his shoulder and aimed, his finger hovering over the trigger before he fired, hitting a target on the shooting range dead center.
To Erin's suprise however, the hit caused an explosion and the target combusted into flames.
The brunette turned around to see her brother tracing the outlines of another crossbow with his fingers and she understood why he seemed hesitant.
Their father had once made one out of scraps to help with fishing. Of course it was strictly forbidden to even own a weapon in the districts but their father had ignored it nontheless.
She remembered going out on sea with her dad and Alex and how he had teached Alex to use the weapon. It was one of the last memories they had of him.
Finally Alex grabbed the crossbow and like Gale rested it one his shoulder, taking aim before pulling the trigger, causing the same reaction as before as they watched a second target go up in flames.
Erin placed a comforting hand on her older brother's shoulder, offering him a small smile which he tried to return.
"Now for you Erin, I taught this would fit you a bit better?" Beetee's voice made the brunette turn around to see him with a katana in hand, light refelction from the steel.
The girl took a step forward approaching Beetee who held the black katana op for her and she gladly took it from him.
She was suprised by how little it weighed and the way it fitted perfectly in her hand as she twisted it around carefully trying to adjust to the feeling. "This is amazing." She finally looked back at Beetee with a grateful smile.
"That's good to hear. And tell Finnick I made a trident for him, when he's ready." Beetee said before motioning Katniss forward.
"And this one is for you," Beetee moved on towards the bow in front of him as Katniss turned around. He handed the raven haired girl the black bow.
"Plutarch wanted you to have a weapon for the sake of the propos, but I couldn't just make you a fashion accessory." Beetee stated waiting for Katniss' reaction.
"It's beautiful." Katniss breathed out, admiring thw bow.
"And look here," Beetee pointed to an array of arrows on a small table beside them. "Regular, incendiary, explosive arrows. All color-coded."
Erin watched beside Alex as Katniss twisted an arrow betweem her fingers before she pulled her bow up aimed towards the last target.
Only before she could release the arrow, Beetee placed a hand on her arm, stopping the girl on fire from releasing the red arrow.
"Let's not fire the red ones in here."
Erin sat beside Finnick, their hands intertwined as she leaned her head against his arm. "Are you sure you want to go?"
The brunette lifted her head up to look at Finnick and she sighed. "I need to do something, so yes I want to go."
"I just don't want you to get hurt two weeks have barely passed since you were cleared." Finnick stated, his voice laced with concern. "I rather you stay with me."
"I know you want to." Erin smiled lightly. "And I'm glad you're staying here. Someone needs to know what is going on around here."
"Do you think we'll free the others from the Capitol soon, I hope they're alright." Erin whispered after a moment of silence.
"I hope so."
"Do you think Annie is okay? They've got her too." Erin's voice cracked slightly thinking back at her childhood friend.
"Once we get everyone back they will be." Finnick whispered, placing a soft kiss on her forhead.
"I need to go." Erin smiled sadly.
"I know."
Erin was quick to join Katniss' side on their way to the hovercraft with Boggs.
The two former tributes stopped at the end of the tunnel as they stared at all the weapons across the large room, the bombs and explosives were everywhere.
"You had all of this and you just left the districts to fend for themselves?" Katniss spoke up after the two finally followed after Boggs.
"It's not that simple, Katniss. We barely survived. We weren't in any kind of shape to launch a counter attack. Yeah, we could've bombed the Capitol but they would've retaliated with at least twice the firepower. Then what? There would've been nobody left to claim victory." Boggs replied but both girls refused to look at him.
"Sounds like exactly what Peeta said when you all called him a traitor." Erin remarked bitterly.
Boggs remained stoic as he pointed to the hovercraft. "This way, soldiers."
The first thing Erin saw was Effie with Gale and Alex fixing up their appearence.
"Don't they look handsome?" Effie asked excited as soon as they were in hearing distance.
Erin couldn't blame the woman, ever since she started fixing them up she seemed to be back to her brighter self.
Erin nodded her head in response as she offered her brother a small smile, but no one was able to give a verbal repsonse however, as Boggs ushered them into the hovercraft.
"Let's go."
"Come back safe,"
The brunette stepped on the hovercraft after Katniss, the two girls silently agreeing to watch each others back after they escaped for the arena and now was no different. They were going back in combat only for a completely different reason.
Plutarch smiled at the everyone as they came into his line of sight before he motioned towards the other people aboard. "Quick introductions. These people have come a long way to support the cause. This is Cressida. In my opinion one of the best up-and-coming directors in the Capitol."
"Until I up and left," the woman with the half-shaved head smiled before greeting them. "Hey."
"Let's see what you can do, alright? Be careful," Plutarch warned, before he got off the hovercraft himself, leaving the four alone with Cressida and her team
"This is my assistant, Messalla." Cressida continued where Plutarch left off and motioned to the man beside her.
"It's an honor to meet you." he greeted with nod.
"And your cameraman over there," Cressida pointed towards a man behind Messalla, "Castor."
"Hello," he offered them a small smile.
"And Pollux," Cressida introduced the last man who silently nodded his head with a smile.
"Let's get locked in," Boggs commanded as he passed the group.
