"He's just through that corridor." The guard told the lot as he pointed to the last door of the hall. They could still hear the chatter from the other prisoners in the rooms surrounding them. Jessica was surprised that security had let the four of them in to talk to one of their most dangerous inmates. Bucky and Anna had done all the German talking, so she guessed they had mention only one of them would be alone with him.

"All right." Sam nodded towards the security guard. "Give us a sec."

Anna waited for him to leave before rudely turning to Bucky. "Okay, you go."

One of them had to talk to Zemo, and Bucky already knew she wouldn't be the one to do it. He was willing to take responsibility. "I'm gonna go in alone."

"Why?" Asked Sam, wondering why it couldn't be him instead.

"'Cause you're an Avenger. You know how he feels about that." Bucky explained.

"Look, it's not like you two were known for frolickin' in the sun together." Sam replied. "If anyone has a better chance of getting something out of him that's Anna-"

"But that's not going to happen." Anna finished the sentence, even if it wasn't going that way.

"Trust me. I got it." Said Bucky and his companions fell silent. Sam was the one to talk again before the Winter Soldier left to do his job.

"Don't let him mess with your head."

Bucky nodded, then making eye contact with his wife, who for a moment stopped holding a grudge at him.

"Be careful, honey."

Bucky left and the three of them watched him walk away until the big metal door at the end of the corridor closed behind him. Anna sighed, clearly nervous, and Sam rubbed her shoulder to comfort her. She wasn't happy about asking Zemo, that was evident. Jessica sighed as well, not knowing what they were supposed to do in the meantime.

"What now?" She asked.

"We wait." Sam answered. "Let's go outside."

Once they were out of the building again, and desperate to make time pass faster, Jessica questioned the pair again. This time about the prisoner they were visiting. "What's the deal with this guy anyways?"

"He used us as weapons to get the Avengers to fight each other." Anna answered, not returning the look. "He got our code words and killed the rest of the Winter Soldiers."

"Happy memories." Sam said, sarcastically. Anna's explanation started to ring a bell to Jessica, but she couldn't put a finger on it...

Bucky got out soon after. He looked rushed and didn't waste time to tell them to step away from the place as to retell what had happened inside the cell. They couldn't afford someone hearing anything they weren't supposed to. They maybe spent about five minutes walking until they arrived to what seemed to be an abandoned warehouse to which Bucky forced the entrance to.

"Well? How did it go?" Anna urged the soldier to talk after keeping them in the dark for such a long time.

"Zemo has to get out."

Anna's eyes widened. "What?! You wanna break Zemo outta jail?! Have you lost your mind?!"

"Where the hell are we, Buck?" Sam demanded.

A bit ill-timed, Jessica remembered where she knew Zemo from. "Isn't he the one who killed the Wakandan king with the UN bombing?"

"That's the one." Anna nodded, not looking away from her husband. She was going to run out of daggers to shoot at him. "And this psychopath wants to let him out again!"

"We have no leads, no moves, nothing..." Bucky justified.

"What we have is one of the most dangerous men in the world behind bars." Sam tried to bring him back to reality.

Anna gestured her head in accord with the Falcon. "I absolutely agree. He deserves to be there. I don't care how far we are from finding the truth about the super soldiers, I won't allow Zemo breaking free."

"And what about the eight super soldiers that are loose?" Bucky asked, rhetorically. "Are we just going to ignore that?"

"I'll look for leads myself if I have to." Anna glared at him.

Sam stepped in before Bucky could argue. "Zemo's gonna mess with our minds. Especially yours, no offense."

"Offense." He repplied. "Super soldiers go against everything he believes in. He is crazy, but he still has a code."

"Have you forgotten about everything he did? Everything he did to track me down? He blew up the UN, he killed King T'Chaka and framed you for it. He tried to put us against each other." Anna had cooled down her tone, but she was still furious about the situation. Apparently, she had a history with the criminal at issue.

"Did you forget that? You think the Wakandans forgot about it?" Sam asked Bucky but answered himself. "It's a rhetorical question: they didn't. I know why this matters to you, but it's pushing you off the deep end."

"We don't know how they're getting the serum. We don't even know how many of them there are." Bucky kept trying to give grounds for the idea of getting the villain out of his imprisonment. "Look, let me just walk you through a hypothetical- Can I walk you through a hypothetical?"

"What did you do?" Anna jumped, not trusting the soldier.

"I didn't do anything."

"Yes, you did."

"The weakest point in any system isn't the software, the hardware, it's the meatware. The human element." Bucky explained, ignoring the suspicious gaze from his wife. "Now, in this lockup, it's nine to one, prisoners to guards. And if two prisoners start fighting, then the protocol says four guards have to respond."

"So why would two prisoners randomly start fighting at that moment?"

"Who knows? There could be many reasons..." Bucky shrugged his shoulders and continued. "But the point is, these things escalate. Lockdown procedures would have to be initiated, and with all those bodies flying around left and right, wouldn't be hard to slip down a hallway or two." He stepped closer to Sam, who was the one not looking at him as if he were mental. "And if the fire alarm got tripped while the prisoners were being separated, someone could use the chaos to their advantage."

Nobody said anything at first. Jessica was the one to break the silence. "He's being very casual about this."

"Yeah, this is unnatural. Are you..." Sam started before realising how strange was the place they were standing on. "And where are we, man?"

Suddenly, they heard noises of metal doors opening and closing again. Someone had come into the lot. They just couldn't believe who was approaching them when the man stood into the light.

It was Zemo himself.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!"

Both Sam and Anna pulled out their guns and pointed it at him. Jessica couldn't do anything, as she hadn't been given any weapons.

"No, listen-"

"What are you doing here?" Anna asked, her gun aiming straight at the criminal's face, who was dressed as a safety guard. That probably being how he got out.

Bucky put his hands up, defending himself against the hostile attitude his mates were giving him.  "I didn't wanna tell you 'cause I knew you wouldn't let this happen."

"Sam, get Jessica out of here. I'm gonna massacre the fuck out of these two." Anna said.

"We need him."

"You're going back to prison!" She pointed at the criminal with her index finger as she stepped in his direction but Bucky stopped her.

Zemo tried to settle things down. "If I may..."

"No!" The three of them shut him up

"Apologies."

Bucky looked at Sam. "When Steve refused to sign the Sokovia Accords, you backed him. You broke the law, and you stuck your neck out for me. I'm asking you to do it again."

"I really think I'm invaluable..."

"Shut up." Anna snapped at Zemo and cocked her gun when he tried to speak again. That only made Bucky turn to her.

"Doll..."

"Nuh-huh, you're not going to convince me so easily." She shook her head. "I didn't just stuck my neck out for you, I would have given my life for you, and not just when he was around."

"Get the gun down, doll." He placed his right hand on the gun's muzzle, trusting she wasn't going to shoot. "Please..." She shifted her gaze from Zemo to her husband, going from angry to hurt.

"How could you do this to me?" She whispered as she lowered the gun.

"I'm sorry." He whispered back. "But we have no other choice, you know that. Ndiyakuthanda."

The last part nobody understood. I love you, he had said in Xhosa. The only two who knew the language in there were Bucky and Anna. She sighed, giving in, and replied to him.

"Ndiyakuthanda."

"Anya..." Zemo drawled, smiling triumphant and opening his arms as if he welcomed her.

"Don't call me that." She hurled.

"Okay." Sam spoke up, stepping in between them before the conversation got heated up. "If we do this, you don't make a move without our permission."

"Fair." Zemo nodded.

"Okay, Zemo, where do we start?" Bucky asked.

Zemo walked to the closest light switch and turned up the lights. Suddenly, they were surrounded by cars of all kinds and sizes. Jessica ran her hand over a convertible's upholstery, fascinated by the vehicles. The Falcon was really struck. "So our first move is grand theft auto?"

"These are mine, collected by my family over the generations. I spent years hunting people HYDRA recruited to recreate the serum. Because once it's out there, someone can create an army of people... like the Avengers." Zemo explained and paused to look in Sam's direction. "I ended the Winter Soldier program once before. I have no intention to leave my work unfinished. To do this, we'll have to scale a ladder of lowlifes." He opened the door to one of the cars and took out a big bag.

"Well, join the party. We've already started." Sam told him as he walked towards the exit.

"First stop is a woman named Selby, mid-level fence I still have a line on." Zemo delineated. "From there, we climb."

His next step was to take the group to a private airport hangar. Employees there greeted him with beaming expressions, what made the others think that they were employed under him. It wouldn't be a surprise after he had shown them his family collection of autos.

"So all this time you've been rich?"

"I'm a Baron, Sam." Zemo sighed as he walked towards an old steward who was waiting for him with a smile on his face. "My family was royalty until your friends destroyed my country." He greeted the steward, probably talking in German, but Jessica didn't understand. She saw how Anna rolled her eyes at their exchange of words, before Bucky leaned in to say something for her.

"Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to rethink a reunion." He had whispered to her, but Jessica still manages to hear it. That actually made her more intrigued about the relationship between Anna and the criminal.

"Please." Zemo creepily gestured for them to enter the private jet. The steward stopped Anna with a beam and held her by the shoulders while he exclaimed something else in German. The ex Winter Soldier scoffed whilst shaking his head, and nothing made sense to Jessica.

They took off, and after ten minutes the steward came to serve them some champagne, although only Zemo took it.

"Apologies if that's a little warm, the fridge is out. But I will see if there is some good food in the galley." Said the old man, this time in English. "It's good to have you back, sir." One last time, they exchanged more words in another language and laughed at it. Jessica, sitting behind Zemo, watched them with disdain.

"You don't know what it's like to be locked in a cell." Zemo asked the group, all of whom, coincidentally, had been imprisoned at one time of their lives. "Oh, that's right, you do." He replied to himself sarcastically and took out a small book from his pocket. Jessica was the only one to notice, as the rest just kept answering while he flipped through the pages.

"Why don't you tell us about where we're going?" Sam asked.

"I'm sorry, I was just fascinated by this." Zemo said, holding the small notebook up. Bucky's face became furious and he quickly stood up from his seat next to Sam. "I don't know what to call it, but this part seems to be important. Who is Nakajima?"

"If you touch that again, I'll kill you." He was fast to snatch the book from Zemo's hands, but Jessica had already seen something concerning written in one of the pages.

"What is that?" She asked, but she only got a rude reply from Bucky.

"None of your business."

"I saw my name in there." She said, not understanding a thing, and Anna looked up at her husband concerned and taken aback.

"Buck..." She got up and extended her hand for Bucky to give her the notebook. He exhaled a bit reluctant, but finally handed over the small book. He had shown the book to his wife before, but he had never told her of that last addition. There, turning the last full page, she found a single name written on top of a new one. J. LEWIS

"So?" Jessica pressured. "What is it?" Nobody replied. Sam seemed to have the same knowledge about this as Jessica, and Bucky and Anna weren't willing to unfold.

"I understand that list of names, people you've wronged as the Winter Soldier." Zemo said casually, earning a black look from Anna.

"Don't push it."

"That's my list of amends." Bucky said, not as rudely as before. He talked slowly this time, carefully picking the words. "People I... hurt in the past, in some way."

"But you've done nothing to me." Jessica affirmed. She had never seen the man before that, so how could have he wronged her?

Bucky blew again, alternating his look between Jessica and Anna. "I took your mother away from you when I was under HYDRA's. She wouldn't have become a Winter Soldier if it wasn't for me." He explained. "Now that I am no longer the Winter Soldier, you're part of my efforts to make amends. So yeah, I'm sorry."

"Rule 3." Anna nudged him and Bucky smiled. It was truly eerie.

"My goodness..."

"Damn it..." Anna cursed when she realised the piece of information they had given to Zemo. Sam and Jessica were puzzled, and Bucky squinted his eyes as a sign of regret.

"I'm sorry, doll."

"What's wrong?" Sam demanded, tired of being left out of things.

Zemo stood up and walked towards Jessica, who leaned back and sunk into her seat in an attempt to get as far as possible from the man. He cupped her hands into his and gazed at her with glee in his eyes. "Getting out of prison was a nice thing, but getting to know my only niece..."

"Your what?" Jessica tried to process, looking only at Anna, who seemed to have all the answers.

"He's my brother." She sighed, defeated. "And therefore your uncle."

Jessica broke free from Zemo's grip. This was getting out of hand. Just a couple of days ago she found out her mother was still alive and now it turns out she had a criminal baron uncle. "Alright, how many other relatives am I going to meet this week?"

"None." Anna says, dry and glaring at Zemo before grabbing him from the shoulder and sitting him back in his original place. "And don't worry, it's just for this mission. After this, he's going back to jail and we're never going to see each other again."

"Always so delightful, sister." Zemo said sarcastically. After that Bucky extended his hand, his eyes fixed on his notebook.

"Can I get my book back?"

Anna gave it back to him.

"I've seen that book. It was Steve's when he came out of the ice. I told him about Trouble Man. He wrote it in that book." Sam said. "Did you hear it? What'd you think?"

Bucky looked like he didn't know what to answer. "I like '40s music, so..." He finally said.

"You didn't like it?"

"I liked it." Bucky affirmed, a bit prickly.

"He's a 100 years old, Sam, give him a break." Anna defended him.

Bucky kept trying to assure them, but he wasn't sounding very convincing. "I like Marvin Gaye."

"Steve adored Marvin Gaye." Sam emphasised the word 'adored'.

"You must have really looked up to Steve. But I realized something when I met him." Zemo decided to add after a while from being silent. "The danger with people like him, America's super soldiers, is that we put them on pedestals."

Jessica didn't know much about the man nor his values, but she understood that maybe saying those things in front of two super soldiers wasn't the best idea. Anna gave him a warning for that. "Watch your step, Zemo."

"They become symbols, icons, and then we start to forget about their flaws. From there, cities fly, innocent people die. Movements are formed, wars are fought. You remember that, right?" Zemo continued. "As a young soldier sent to Germany to stop a mad icon, do we want to live in a world full of people like the Red Skull?"

Bucky sighed before giving an actual explanation on the plan. "That is why we're going to Madripoor."

"What's up with Madripoor? You guys talk about it like it's Skull Island." Sam asked.

"It's an island nation in the Indonesian archipelago. It was a pirate sanctuary back in the 1800s." Bucky clarifies.

"It's kept its lawless ways, but we cannot exactly walk in as ourselves." Zemo leaned forward, looking at Bucky with an evil hint in his eyes. "James, you will have to become someone you claim is gone."
