Nandani POV

After talking to my father, I went back to my chamber. My mother followed and she closed the door once we both entered my chamber.

"Nandani, are you sure my child?"

I looked at her and sat on the bed.

She walked towards me and took the place beside me.

"But, I am afraid. What if he has nothing for you? What if he will never love you?"

She asked and I gulped nervously.

"I do not know, mother. But, in my heart I know, he will love me. It is just a matter of time,"

Her eyes turned teary and I saw her nervously fisting her fingers against the bed sheet.

"If it had not happened with Abhinandan, you did not have to do this,"

I held her fingers and made her look towards me.

"Everything will be alright. Trust me. Everything will be fine. I know my choice, it could be worse but only for sometime,"

She nodded and held my hands.

"But, what if it does not happen. What if what you are thinking will not happen?"

She asked.

"It has to happen, mother. It has to happen. For me, for him, for us... It is difficult but this is the only way. Seeing your fear is the only way you can get over it. I am just waiting how long will he take,"

I exclaimed and she nodded.

I washed her tears and she smiled a little.

"Your father must be waiting for me. I should talk to him. If we want things in our support, we will have to keep him on our side. And, somewhere I think that he is also thinking what we are thinking,"

I thinned my eyebrows not understanding what she said.

"He asked you about what exactly happened between you two,"

She reminded me.

And, I nodded.

"So what?"

"And, knowing nothing happened he was not mad anymore. You know, your father is a very supportive man. He supported your aunt always, he supported me always and he will always support you. If Rudra ever asked him about marriage, he would have understood,"

She said and I sighed.

"Let's not talk more of him, mother,"

She gulped looking at me and stood up from the bed. Kissing my forehead, she muttered in a slow voice.

"Still, you cannot deny the fact that how much he cares for you. I do not know his reasons of leaving you but maybe it was best for you,"

I closed my eyes and gulped with the heavy heart.

"Vyakti ke chale jaane ke baad, avashya hi in chintao ko koi mol nahi hota...Maa-sa, vo hamari kitni bhi chinta karte honge parantu jab hamara saath nahi de sakte to un chintao ka koi arth nahi, koi arth nahi,"

"There is no use of care once the person is gone, mother. No matter, how much he cares about me but if he cannot stand beside me, there is no use or meaning of such care, no meaning at all,"

I exclaimed and looked at her.

She placed her hand on my shoulder and muttered back.

"In my whole life, I trusted some people blindly and then suddenly did not trust anyone. In the early part of adulthood, sometimes I behaved too rebellious, too responsive I became. Suddenly, my trust was shattered in everyone. I made stupid decisions and I learned it very hard way that everyone has a story to tell. We get so indulged in ours that we categorises everyone as our friend or villain. It took me so long to understand that before reacting in something, we should hear the other side of story. That is what every good King does and so the Queens,"

I inhaled a deep breath and stood up from the bed.

"I know all the stories of his side. And, after knowing, understanding, I came to a conclusion that he is the worse person, I have ever met. He did not need to come in my life, if he wanted to leave,"

Tears collected in my eyes and I brought my hand forward to animate my next words for her, being flew in my emotions.

"I collected all my strength, my trust, my love, my pride and everything my ancestors, and gave it to him. Knowing that he is the son of our enemy. I showed my empathy seeing what he had gone through in his life and wanted to fulfill it with someone's love, with my love. But, he proved that he is the son of his father. He took all of it from my hand and crushed it like nothing. He did not do anything with me but did everything to me that it can never be erased. It is written before my name that I am a worse daughter, a very worse person and kept everything at stake being foolish in something called love. It is now written in history of Hind that there was a princess who gifted the pride of her Empire to its enemies,"

My mother broke into cries and came closer to hug me.

"There is nothing like that, Nandani. A person is much more than a mistake. People will always remember you for your innocent heart and charisma you have. You know, the villagers are not even ready to believe in the rumours. This is what you have earned. This is our true pride,"

She patted my back and I hugged her back breaking into the cries.

"And trust me, who did it will sew it,"

She muttered in a slow voice and I did not know why she still was thinking that I would not marry the King and Rudra would come and make me stop to do it.

"This won't happen, mother,"

She released the hug and muttered in a slow voice.

"You are not a mother yet. A mother's instincts are always stronger and real,"

I smiled on her believe and asked her to leave.

"You should meet the father. He must be waiting for you,"

She nodded and left the chamber.

I kept sitting there and upcoming two weeks passed in silence, pain and the dilemma of what would happen.

Rudra did not come again and some where in my heart I was missing him. I did not know but a part of me still believing that it was all a dream and when I would my eyes, I would see that nothing like this ever happened.

Finally, a moment of joy arrived in my life when I came to know that my cousin sister and her family arrived in the fort.

Ruhani, my cousin sister and my best friend. Growing up, we shared each moment of our life in letters and finally a smile appeared on my face with their arrival.

Though, everyone was sad with what happening in the Empire but the decorations and preparations were all at top. My father himself taking charge of everything and on my request, no body told anything to my brother.

If he would know what was happening here, he would come and do something we would all regret.

I stepped down my bed and covered my head with the duppatta to run down the chamber towards the main entrance.

I wanted to hug her so tightly.

Suman ran after me and we crossed the royal gardens to towards the entrance.

"Come, fast,"

I yelled at her and she laughed.

"Nandani, stop,"

She tried to catch me and I reached to the entrance first where all my family were waiting for them.

I stood beside my grandmother and I looked at her at teary to meet her dear daughter.

Ruhani's mother was my paternal aunt (Bua) and sister of my father.

Finally, the loudest trumpet blew and suddenly the attendees started showering the rose petals.

My sight noticed my Aunt and Uncle arriving. Behind them, there was Ruhani and her husband, along with them, Ruhani's brother and one more girl I did not know.

My stomach was doing flips and I looked at my Aunt closer.

My father broke in laughing cries as she came closer to him.

"Pranam Bhai Saheb,"

"Greetings, Bhai Saheb,"

She said with adjoined hands and my father collected her in a warm tight hug.

Both of them broke into cries and I also turned looking at them.

Looking at them, I realised how close they were despite the fact how far they physically were. While, some people we stay physically close never comes that close.

"How are you? Gulaab,"

He asked.

"I am good, very good Bhai Saheb. Misses you a lot,"

She said and released the hug, washing her tears.

"How are you?"

She asked and he smiled with a reply.

"Same as the way left me,"

She chuckled and Ruhani's father stepped forward.

"Raja Saheb, aapki behn aapko kabhi yaad nahi karti,"

"Raja Saheb, your sister never misses you,"

My father chuckled hearing him and they both shared a hug. My father patted his shoulder and he also patted his shoulder.

Releasing the hug, they both looked at each other and then laughed a little.

"Gulaab, hum to abhi bhi keh rahe hai, Hume ye aadmi kuch thik nahi lagta,"

"Gulaab, I am still saying that there is something wrong with this man,"

My father teased him and my aunt fake cried a little.

"Bhai Saheb, do not say like this,"

She looked at him and both of them laughed.

Suddenly, my mother stepped forward with the prayering plate and looked at my father.

"Stop teasing my sweet Nanad,"

"Bhabhi Saheb,"

My aunt screamed with joy and my mother laughed lightly.

She started making the animated rounds in front of them and handed over the plate to an attendee.

My mother bent forward to touch my aunt's feet and she stopped her midway.

"We must hug, Bhabhi Saheb,"

They both hugged each other and my aunt asked.

"How are you?"

Releasing the hug, my mother washed a lone tear and replied warmly.

"I am very good, what about you?"

My aunt also washed her tears and replied with a hoarse voice.

"Good,"

Now, my mother stepped backward and my aunt saw my grandmother.

She came forward to hug her tightly.

"Maa Saheb,"

And, they both broke into cries.

Once again, I turned teary remembering my grandfather who was no more now.

She must be remembering her father and consoled my grandmother.

"How are you? Maa Saheb,"

My grandmother tried to control her cries and released the hug to kiss her cheek lightly.

"Sixteen years younger to see my daughter happy and charming,"

My aunt chuckled and my uncle stepped forward to meet my grandmother.

She kissed her hand and came closer to hug her lightly as a son.

"Rakh lijiye, Maa Saheb, apni beti to kuch din apne pass rakh lijiye,"

"Keep her, Maa Saheb, keep your daughter with you for sometime,"

My grandmother chuckled hearing him and she replied back.

"Aapki amanat hai aap hi sambhale, jawai saa, hum to kanyadaan kar chuke hai,"

"She is yours and you should take care of her, Jawai Saa, we already have her to you,"

He chuckled and asked in a slow voice.

"How is your health now?"

My grandmother nodded lightly and muttered back.

"Better, Nandani takes care of me and now she is going to,"

I lowered my gaze and stepped forward to meet my Aunt and Uncle.

"Pranam, Phupha Sa,"

I greeted him and he placed his hand on my head, blessing me.

"God bless you, Nandani,"

Suddenly, my aunt stepped forward and collected me a hug.

"Pranam, Bua-sa,"

"Pranam,"

She replied and patted my back.

"God bless you, how are you now?"

I smiled and released the hug.

"I am very good,"

And, she exclaimed.

"We have a surprise for you,"

I thinned my eyebrows and she called slowly.

"Ruhani,"

I saw Ruhani stepping towards me and suddenly she said.

"Nandani,"

My eyes came of socket and I was immensely shocked.

"What?"

My lips curved into widest smile and she came closer to hug.

I hugged her back and we both screamed with joy.

"Congratulations for your wedding, Nandani. Who is the lucky man?"

She asked and I released the hug lightly.

And, suddenly our attention was caught by my Uncle Rafiq's voice who was talking to my father.

"Raja ji, you have already met Ruhani and Haider. Now, meet the new person of our family. Sultan Aahil,"

I smiled as Ruhani's husband came forward and hesitantly and he wished my father.

"Assalamualaikum, Raja ji, I mean Maamujaan,"

He said and I smiled looking at Ruhani, who also walked to stand beside him.

"Pranam, Maamujaan,"

Ruhani wished my father and he hugged both of them together with joy in his eyes.

"Ahhhaa, God bless both of you,"
