Rudra POV

In the middle of the night, I sneaked out to leave.

I left her alone, sleeping in my bed because I could not do it.

I just had to spend a night with her and I could not do that. Coward.

I cursed myself and tried to calm down angered racing heartbeats.

And for that, I had many reasons. My conscience tried to argue with my brain.

The prime was the feeling I knew I had developed in myself in those two years. I tried to overpower them, I tried to control them but as soon as I saw her, it all went into vain. I could not control my emotions, I felt my heartbeats again. I could not stand her, she was becoming my weakness. Her face, her smile, her talks, I thought I would win, I would control but she was winning, she was winning over me. Clearly.

I gave her the sleeping medicine because I could not deny her. I knew we would never get married, we were enemies, and I could not keep her in any fake illusions. His father hated me, I hated his father, and we were no match.

Initially, I thought I would use her to stick to my plan but she messed up everything.

I pulled the reins again as I wanted to run even faster, I could still feel her smell around me. It was intoxicating me, capturing me, making me feel bounded and I just wanted to go away from it.

When I crossed the borders of her Empire, I gained my breath again.

I could not see her again. We were enemies and we could not get married. I reminded myself again.

I could not forget about my father, the childhood I lost because of her parents. Her father would never let me get married to her, moreover, I wanted to kill her father and brother, and after getting married to her, It would be difficult to do that. Because then I would be bounded to her and I would have to think about her happiness and all. 

Why the hell I was thinking about getting married to her?

What the hell was happening to me?

I pressed my hand against my head and pulled the reigns of my horse to stop him.

He neighed and I stepped down from it. I moved closer to his head and patted his forehead for giving me a ride.

"You should eat something now,"

I tried to say to my horse and helped him to find fresh and chewable grass for him.

Sitting under the trees, I looked at the sky over me.

It was a full moon and the sky was full of stars. The noise of insects and grasshoppers invading the silence made everything a little peace for me.

I closed my eyes and did not know when I fell asleep.

I woke up when I heard the chirping of the birds and sunlight slowly falling on my eyes.

I prayed to Lord Sun for another beautiful day and resumed my journey to Suryagarh. 

Climbing on my horse, I ran to our Empire. The King must be missing me. Missing taunting me.

Reaching there, I left my horse in the stable and walked towards my room. 

Yes, I did not have any chamber. I was just the King's guard and head commander of the army. I was allotted a room and I lives my life like an ordinary soldier.

My room did not have any beds, I used to sleep on the ground. I was given no couches for meetings, I had to stand outside the King's chamber to protect him.

My leave was over. I asked for a few days' leave and he granted me for this time only. I just wanted to see Nandani again and wanted to test if I could control my emotions in front of her or not.

For two years, I tried my best to have control over everything but it all was a complete failure when I saw her in front of me.

Her long hair, slender neck and beautiful small face. Her eyes were big and with kohl, they look even bigger and when she stares at me with the intensity of her feeling in them, I just feel like losing all my strength. Why was I so cowardly and uncontrollable in front of her?

I did not even want to touch her but when she stood in front of me with those long beautiful hair and an intoxicating smell, I just could not stop myself from wrapping my arms around her.

For those few moments, I just forgot that she was the daughter of my enemy and I was on a mission. 

I cursed myself while changing into my guard's clothes.

But, from now, I promised myself to forget her and focus only on my mission.

I had to secretly create an army and wait. If the King would himself give the throne to me, well and good and if would not, then I would rage the war and after winning it. I would rage a war against Mahabaleshgarh too.

I walked towards his chamber and reached there with the sword in my hand.

I looked at the soldiers outside his door and they bent in front of me wishing me in signals. I wished them back and stood beside them.

This was my job.

Everything was going fine and I was indulged in my work, trying to forget my affection for her and keeping myself busy on my target and ambitions.

Now, another reason, I could not sleep with her and I had to give her sleeping medicine. I could not have sex, I could not abed any woman until my Crowning Ceremony Yagya would be performed.

I was on semen retention for ten years. Since I was a nineteen-year-old boy. My master told me to practice it learn better control and surpass every condition. If a man could control his hunger, thirst, pain, happiness, love and sex drive, no one could distract him from his goal.

But, she did.

I thought to take a shortcut and use her to make her Empire weak and win it. But, I just could not get closer to her. I just could not even kiss her.

Because, I knew If I had kissed her even for once, then all my sacrifices and control have gone in vain. Then I could not have stopped myself and gotten closer beyond her lips.

So, I just chose to stick to my earlier plan to win everything with my hard work. And, I left her.

In short, I had two plans. One was to have patience and control to have it all with decency and hard work. And, the other was to cheat. To cheat with Mahabaleshgarh and use Nandani as my shortcut for success.

But, I just could not do what I thought to do to her.

One week had passed and I was still trying to forget her. As usual, as I was standing outside the King's chamber and he suddenly called.

"Rudra,"

I turned and opened the door of his chamber to ask.

"Yes, my King,"

I saw him sitting comfortably on the couch and he was holding a letter in his hand.

"Pack your things. You are coming with me to Mahableshgarh,"

He informed and I thinned my eyebrows.

"What?"

I tried to question and he smiled.

"Yes, Rajvardhan is marrying off her daughter. I am going to attend it and since you are my bodyguard, you come everywhere with me. Right?"

I nodded.

"Yes, My King,"

Though the information hit me really differently and I turned immensely shocked.

She is getting married?

A sudden pain and uneasiness erupted in my chest and I closed the door back.

My eyebrows thinned in a line and I could not think why so suddenly she decided to get married.

One week ago, she was ready to give her everything to me and now all of sudden she was getting married to someone else.

My brain suddenly questioned why was I feeling so insecure and uneasy with this information. It was her life and she could get married to whomever she wanted to.

She would get married to someone if I would not marry her.

Sooner or later, this day had to come.

I gulped and did not know what to do.

The night followed after the day and I packed my thing as he asked me.

We started our journey the next day and I was wearing my guard's clothes as usual.

We entered Mahableshgarh and I looked at the decorations and chaos in the Empire. That meant that it was true that she was getting married.

The King was allotted the biggest chamber and he asked me to stand in front of its door. With my helmet, no one could recognize me here but my heart was slowly sinking deeper.

It was another day.

In the midst of the afternoon, I looked at the King all set to meet another King. He left me outside his chamber and came back into it after the evening.

He closed the door coming back and I was standing outside his door.

Unknowingly, a part of me wanted to know whom Nandani was going to choose as her husband. She was a wealthy princess and her father organized a wholesome Swayamvar for her. 

Suddenly, I noticed a faded sound of anklet bells, approaching. It seems like a group of women and I thinned my eyebrows to look closely.

I wondered what were they doing outside the King's chamber. Was he offered sex slaves for the night?

But, as soon as the ladies came closer. My heartbeats raced to realise that it was none other than Nandani.

I immediately stepped forward as a wild thought crossed my mind.

I looked at the attendees standing beside her and I gulped to ask in a slow voice.

"What are you doing Nandani?"

She slowly lifted her veil up and looked at me. I could see anger in her eyes and just by looking at her standing outside the King's chamber, my whole body felt like killing her already.

What the hell was she doing here?

What did it all mean?

"Open the door,"

She ordered and I inhaled a deep breath taking a few steps closer to her.

Her eyes looked straight into my eyes and I looked back to comprehend what did it mean.

That means that the King did not come here to just attend the wedding. He came here as a contender and if Nandani came here to meet him. That meant that...that she was thinking of getting married to him.

My blood boiled with anger and I looked sharply into her eyes.

"Do not do it. He is my uncle,"

I started slowly but I really meant it. 

But, she inhaled a deep breath and she said something that made me mad beyond measure.

"And, consider me your aunt and the future Queen of Suryagarh,"

"Do not you dare say that,"

I looked into her eyes and tried to make her understand this.

But, she looked back and muttered.

"No, watch me do that,"

This was it, I just wanted to grab her neck so badly.

But, suddenly the door opened and I looked at her covering her face with the veil.

I also took a few steps backwards and the King looked at us.

"You came,"

He said and I looked at Nandani, greeting him by joining both of her hands with respect.

"The King invited me, I had to come,"

She stated and he laughed.

"Come inside,"

He said and I fisted my hand as took a step forward to go inside the chamber.

My whole body burnt with anger and my heart was beating insanely mad.

And, suddenly her one attendee followed her inside and I also took steps forward.

"Rudra, you should wait outside,"

He said and I looked at him.

"I'd rather stay here to protect you. I do not trust Mahabaleshgarh yet,"

I started back and he laughed.

"No need. She is Princess Nandani and my would-be wife,"

He stated with a smile and I could feel like killing someone already.

"Wife?"

I questioned with a flat face so he could not doubt me.

"Yes, I and Nandani are getting married this month and I invited her to know something about her if she would not mind telling me,"

He exclaimed and sat comfortably on the couch.

"No, my King. I will be happy to take you as a husband and I feel it good to have a conversation before the wedding to clear all the doubts,"

She stated back professionally and formally.

My heart sank low and I looked at the King who started.

"I hope you know, Nandani, that the reason that I want to take you as a wife at this age is having an heir to my throne,"

He said with an authoritative voice and I looked at Nandani gulping slowly.

"Yes, My King. I am very well aware and I will try my best to give you an heir,"

She stated I just wanted to kill her right now.

How could she?

How could she do all those things right in front of me to my own uncle? A man three times her age and she did not care anything about it.

Why the hell was she even doing it?

He smiled and turned a little silent all of sudden.

"But, I want to know if you are a virgin or not,"

My eyes looked at him sharply and the silence followed before she said in a slow voice.

"I am, My King. I am a virgin,"

I looked at her and could not believe how could she say that.

"But, I have heard rumours of you being involved with a man,"

He stated and I looked at Nandani.

I gulped and now it made me beyond angry.

"You can ask your physician to do a virginity test,"

She stated and I fisted my hand.
