Nandani POV
"Come here,"
I pulled Ruhani into my chamber after the grand welcome of them at the main entrance.
My mother and father were helping them personally with their chambers and meanwhile, I brought Ruhani to me.
She closed the door behind and finally, we hugged each other tightly.
"How did you get your voice back?"
I screamed almost and looked at her with the widest smile possible.
She inhaled a deep breath and looked at me with sweet doe eyes.
"Very very long story,"
I smiled and she suddenly asked.
"Who is the luckiest man?"
She teased and I planted a weak smile on my face.
"That is a surprise for you,"
I said in a slow voice and she pouted her face.
"I hate surprises,"
She exclaimed and sat on the bed. I sat beside her and she asked me.
"So, love marriage or arrange?"
I inhaled a deep breath and looked at her.
"Complicated,"
I answered.
She chuckled a little and thinned her eyebrows.
"What?"
"Yeah, I mean so many men came from other states and I had to chose. So, it's neither love nor arranged. Everything is of my choice but still no choice,"
She gulped and asked in a slow voice.
"You love him right?"
I blinked and looked at her.
I wanted to tell her everything but then a part of me did not want to tell her anything. Because, the more I would try to dig it deep, the more complicated it would get. The groom was just old. Simple.
"It is a political wedding, Ruh,"
She stood up from the bed and walked closer to me. Her eyes changed from teasing to shocked and worried. Her hand touched mine and she looked into my eyes.
"What? A political marriage? Why? What about the man you loved?"
She asked and I turned a little to catch on my racing heartbeats. Closing my eyes I inhaled a deep breath and exclaimed.
"He left me and now everyone knows that I had a affair with someone,"
She immediately turned me to look at her.
"What is happening here? I hope this wedding is happening with your consent,"
She said with the rage in her eyes and I held her hand.
"Ofcourse, it is happening with my consent but not with the man whom I loved. He left me something else,"
She inhaled a deep breath and sat back on the bed. Her eyes turned sad and I sat with her too.
I hugged her lightly and she hugged me back.
"He did not deserve you, Nandani,"
She said and I smiled back nodding lightly.
*Thud*
Suddenly a loud knock on the door caught our attention.
"Who is this?"
Nandani asked and the attendee from the behind said.
"Aahil Sultan is asking for Ruhani Begum,"
I smiled and looked at Ruhani.
"Come on, your Sultan is asking for you,"
She giggled and I teased her even more.
"I want to hear about your first time,"
She blushed hearing me and said.
"Ask him to wait,"
She said to the attendee and I smiled looking at her.
"How was it?"
I asked shifting closer to her.
She smiled.
"What?"
"Stop blushing, I want the details,"
I said and she looked at me.
"It was wild,"
I smiled.
"Wild? Really,"
I asked.
"Yes, we were in the garden in the midnight, it was raining, thundering actually and he was sad, I went to him to console him. And, we got too indulged and then it happened,"
She blushed hard and I was shocked.
"Right in the middle of the garden. Quite a show for the spectators,"
I commented and she chuckled.
"Actually, no. The place was very isolated and kind of hidden and it was so smooth,"
She said.
I cleared my throat a little.
"Well, however smooth it could be but still. Even imagining it giving me goosebumps,"
She smiled.
"Well, you know, Nandani, when you have that right person with you. You really do not care about all other things. Thats what happened to me. That time, I was so surrounded by him that nothing else really mattered to me. And, when you will that person beside you, it will happen to you too,"
She said and I lowered my gaze inhaling a deep breath.
Deep down, I knew that it was never going to happen now. But, a part of me remembered Rudra listening to her.
"You are right. But, now I think you should go and meet your Sultan. Do not make him wait that much,"
I said and she smiled.
"Ofcourse,"
She hugged me standing up and I said.
"Sleep tight,"
She nodded and walked away leaving me.
The attendees closed the door behind and I sat back on my bed.
My life was becoming more and more difficult now. It was just one week for the wedding and I looked at my hands that were shivering to know that soon they would covered in the henna and turmeric paste.
The things I once wanted to wear for him. The things I imagined to do for him, with him.
Tears collected in my eyes as the old thoughts ran in my mind.
The talks, the giggles, the secret meetings. How perfect everything was and still my heart was not ready to move on.
Even after that much happened by my mind still going back to him.
It was like, I walked over him but my soul was still stuck in his arms and denying to leave his embrace. It was like my heart was crying deep inside knowing what my mind doing to my heart.
I hope, he once came to me and told me that he wanted to end things. I would have cried, I would have fought but he had given me a chance I might have understood. I could have left him, I could have walked over him with my heart.
But, now it was like someone is pushing the either hands of my to the either direction. My heart was ripping, my soul shattering and it was happening moment by moment.
Growing up, I saw dreams of a perfect and I knew I could see right in front of me, all those dreams shattering.
I did not know how many girls have gone through it. How many girls suffered this pain. When they were forcibly removed from an emotion that they took as the ultimate reality for whole their life.
I was not bleeding, there was not even a single cut on my body but the pain was similar. Similar as I could have felt if someone pierced my chest with a sharp knife.
Maybe it could be better because more pain at once is better than the less pain for long.
Lying there on the bed, I did not know when I fell asleep.
But, I woke up suddenly when I heard the slight noise of footsteps.
Opening my eyes I looked around the chamber, the fuel in the light lamps were gone and it was dark.
"Who is there?"
I asked in a slow voice and I stepped down the bed.
Suddenly, someone pulled me. And I panicked to scream.
But, before I could scream he put his palm over my mouth and I remembered the eyes. Even in the dark, slightest of light, I could see him through his smell, his touch and his attractive presence.
He pushed me backward against the bed post and I held his hand to make his move from my mouth.
I looked at him angrily and he looked back into my eyes, softly this time.
"Why are you doing this? Nandani,"
He asked in a slow and hurt voice and I inhaled a deep breath.
"Bhaaghi samajhte hai aap?"
"Do you understand what Bhaagi is?"
I asked and he blinked looking at me.
"Vo ho gae hai hum,"
"I have become that,"
I stated and he cupped my cheek all of sudden. His hand felt cold and he pulled me closer to his.
His breathing was wild and fast. And, he asked looking at me.
"How will you stop it?"
I blinked and shook my face lightly with the trembling lips.
"Kitna aasan hai na aapke liye. Hamari jindagi barbaad karke daam poochle chale aaye. Kese rukenge hum? Haina, kitna aasan hai,"
"How easy is that for you. After destroying my life you have come for negotiations. How will I stop? Right, how easy is that for you,"
Tears collected in my eyes and I could feel my I looked at him with the rage.
"May I know for price did you sell me?"
He inhaled a deep breath and pulled my face even closer to his.
"I cannot marry, Nandani. I cannot become anyone's husband and I cannot bear child,"
He said and it felt like suddenly the world stopped before me. His words made frozen me to the grounds.
"What?"
I asked.
He blinked and nodded lightly.
"It was not about any other girl. It was just about you. I was just playing with you, I was just... Using you but... but that night I just could not handle it doing it anymore. I just, I do not know. But, please it is hurting me, please stop it. Everything will be complicated. I am not asking you not get married. You have all the right to be happy but that man will never keep you happy,"
He said and tear fell from my eyes.
"This is it. And, since when you started caring about my happiness?"
I asked.
And, he looked at me. I saw his eyes filled with tears and moved his hands from my cheeks to around my waist. He pulled me closer slowly and I felt his face leaning into the hem of my neck. He hugged me lightly and I broke into cries.
"Sab khatam ho gaya hai, Rudra,"
"Everything is finished, Rudra,"
He tightened the hug and he lifted me up effortlessly.
My arms snaked around his neck and he placed his one hand on my head.
"You deserve to be happy, Nandani. It was not your fault. I am sorry that I included you in this dirty game of politics,"
I broke into more cries hearing his words and he said.
"Please change your decision. We cannot be opposite sides,"
I released the hug and he looked at me.
Inhaling a deep breath and controlling my falling tears, I said.
"I will become the Queen of Suryagarh. You do what you do best. Run away like always,"
I saw his eyes changing from sad to angry. He pulled me closer and suddenly I started feeling warm and lighter.
His hand raked from my waist to my hand and his fingers pulling my face closer to his.
"You know, it is never going to happen,"
He said and my whole body shivered seeing his lips coming closer to mine.
I just blankly stated in his eyes.
"Nandani!"
He placed his lips over mine.
"Nandani, open the door,"
He sucked my lips passionately and muttered in a slow voice.
"I love you, little wife,"
"Nandani, open the door,"
I panicked all of sudden and sat up over the bed. I looked around and it was morning. My heart beat was fast and then someone called from outside.
"Nandani!"
Maa-sa called and I realised it was a dream. A nightmare to be correct. He was not here. He did not come last night.
"Open the door, Nandani,"
She said again and I placed my hand on my hand.
"Yes, Maa-sa,"
I stepped down the bed and walked towards the door.
Opening the door, I looked at her, my Bua and Ruhani all dressed up.
"It's your haldi and you are late,"
My Bua said and I plastered a smile over my face.
I hate you, Rudra.
I crused him in my mind.
