Chapter Eleven

I decided that I would do my internship with Kamihara. I wanted to do it with Mount Lady, but after I found out that Mineta was going there, it was a hard pass. Plus, Kamihara watched my fight with Bakugo from the sports festival and wanted to work on my combat skills. They weren't the worst, but I understood why it upset him.

Speaking of Bakugo, he had actually quieted down the last couple days before our internship. I had wondered if my words had gotten to him, but that was a far stretch. However, he hadn't even glanced my direction since.

After a long week of internships, we finally returned back to school. Over the course of our internships, the Hero Killer Stain had been taken down  by Endeavor, but my favorite thing to see once we got back was Bakugo and his hair.

"Stop laughing. My hair's gotten used to this. I can't get it back to the right way...did you not hear me? I'll kill you both," Bakugo threatened Kirishima and Sero, trying to not yell.

He's not yelling...maybe he did learn something at his internship.

"I'd like to see you try, pretty boy," Sero teased him.

"WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?" Bakugo broke, causing his hair to stand up with it.

There is it...

Everyone around was talking about their internship. I think it had the biggest impact on Ochako. Most people were talking about Stain, though. I could understand everyone's fascination, but the last thing I wanted to think about was the mindset of a villain. Luckily, Iida got the class to calm down from it, and we able to continue with class, which was Hero Basic Training, taught by All Might.

Today, we were having a race. We were split into groups, and our goal was to make it to All Might in the center. After class, we went back to the locker rooms to change.

"Midoryia improved so much it's crazy," Mina commented.

"His internship must have—"

"Guys, quiet for a second," Jiro ordered us, as she had one of her earphone jacks plugged into the wall.

"What is it?" Momo asked.

"Mineta," Jiro growled, before shoved the other jack into a small hole in the wall.

We soon heard Mineta scream from the other side of the wall.

"Ugh, thanks Kyoka," Hagakure said.

"Despicable...we'll have this hole covered immediately," Momo commented.

"Ugh, I hate him," Mina added.

"Same," I agreed, finishing getting dressed before we went back to class.

The day ended pretty quickly, but I couldn't help but notice Bakugo all day. His temper didn't seem as atrocious as usual. I was hoping that it was because of his internship, but I couldn't help but wonder if what I said had any effect. It was stupid to think that I could hold such an effect or that he even cared about what I said, but he also didn't even look my way all day. Usually, I got a glare in the morning, or he would call me an extra- but nothing today. As much as I wanted to know, it wasn't my business, and I shouldn't even care in the first place.

When we arrived back to school, Mr. Aizawa reminded us about the final exams. We only had a week before our test, and although I did well in the midterms, I was still nervous about the test- but not nearly as nervous as Mina, which I couldn't blame her since we had to pass to go to the training camp.

"(Y/N), you want to come study with us?" Kirishima asked me among the chaos in the room.

"What do you think you are doing?" Bakugo instantly snarled at him.

"C'mon Bakugo, she's our friend. It's rude if we don't invite her, plus Momo is already helping almost half of the class," Kirishima told him.

"She's your friend, and let me be rude then if I don't want to waste my time on that extra," Bakugo replied.

"It's okay if I'm not—"

"You're definitely studying with us," Kirishima smiled back at me. "I'll text you with the details."

"Okay, thank you," I politely smiled, as Bakugo's eyes burned into me.

I wasn't the only meltdown that he had that day, as he also threatened to kill Midoriya and Todoroki as well. At this point, I wasn't even taking it personally anymore. However, I couldn't help but notice that he wasn't that harsh on the rest of the girls. I knew why he was after Todoroki and Midoriya, but it was hard for me to believe that he grouped me with them. No wonder he didn't want to help me study.

The next day Kirishima texted me and told me that we were meeting at a diner to study. When I showed up, the two of them were already there. However, it looked like it was going poorly.

"How much of an idiot can you be? It's not that hard!" Bakugo yelled at Kirishima as he hit him over the head one of the papers.

"Um...hey guys?" I greeted.

"Oh great, you're here," Bakugo scoffed as he sat back in his seat.

"Play nice," Kirishima told him.

I took a spot next to Kirishima, but I couldn't help but notice that Bakugo didn't even bring his bag. He was such a cocky bastard. He may have been one of the top of the class, but extra studying wouldn't hurt him.

"We're doing basic Japanese; you think you can handle that?" Bakugo questioned me.

"I should be able to manage," I replied to him.

He just rolled his eyes in response. Truth was that I did need much help, and it didn't take Bakugo very long to figure that out- but he would never give me that credit. As a result, the next two hours consisted of both of us helping Kirishima. Bakugo would ask him questions and yell at him when he was wrong, and then I would better explain it all to him.

"This actually is really helping, thank you (Y/N)," Kirishima said to me.

"Am I not helping?!?" Bakugo growled in response, hitting Kirishima over the head with the paper again.

I couldn't help but giggle a little as Kirishima apologized to him. Bakugo may not have been as ruthless as I thought he had been. It seemed that he was able to build some sort of relationship with his classmates.

"Hey, it's starting to get pretty late, I think it's okay if we call it a night," Kirishima told us.

He was right, if I went home much later, Kamihara was sure to throw a fit, which was always a sight to see.

"You're right...thank you guys for helping me study," I told them.

"Help you?" Kirishima laughed a bit, "It was more you and Bakugo helping me..."

"Extra practice never hurts, though," I reassured him.

We waited for Bakugo to pay for his soda before we all left together. However, once Bakugo found out that we weren't all going the same direction, it was the end of the world.

"I'm not walking a stupid girl home," Bakugo snarled.

"I'm not asking you to, we are just going to same direction," I argued back.

"It wouldn't be very manly of you to make her walk home alone," Kirishima added.

"Then why don't you walk her home?!?" Bakugo argued.

"I'm going the opposite direction," Kirishima shrugged.

"I don't have time for this," I mumbled as I started to walk away. "Thank you for helping me study. Goodnight Kirishima!"

"Wait, where are you going?" Bakugo barked, following after me.

"Goodnight you two," Kirishima laughed and waved us off.

"Don't think that since we are walking the same direction together that we are friends," Bakugo snarled at me.

"I wouldn't dream of it," I replied.

"...I have to ask through...who are you?" he asked.

"Huh—"

"You're combat skills are higher than most of the class, and you aren't an idiot. Why aren't you like the rest?" he pressed.

"Well, I—"

I couldn't possibly tell him the truth. Four weeks ago, he told me he wanted to kill me- unless...

"Bakugo...are you finally seeing me as competition?" I teased him.

"What? A lame girl like you??? As if," he scoffed.

"I wouldn't be too harsh on me...I know you were threatened by me at the festival," I pointed out.

"Keep dreaming, I'm the best in the class. That match with you was nothing," he replied.

"Then what if I were to blast you right now? You wouldn't be scared?" I questioned, messing with him.

He looked back down at me, caught off guard, "You wouldn't—"

"I would," I smirked, shooting the acid out of my hand.

Bakugo quickly moved to dodge it as I figured he would. What I did not predict was that the blast would go across the street, and suddenly, a loud shriek rang through the streets. One that we both knew too well.

"Are you crazy!?!" Bakugo panicked, grabbing my arm and bolting down the street.

There is no way- no way I just hit Present Mic!

I couldn't even process that Bakugo was dragging me behind him, until we came to a stop five blocks down, both of us out of breath.

"Are you an idiot? You hit Present Mic!" Bakugo yelled at me.

"It was a joke...how could have I know that Present Mic out of all people was going to be on this side of town?!?" I argued back.

Shockingly, he didn't yell at me back. Instead, he let out a small chuckled, which almost scared me.

"I can't believe you idiot, you really hit Present Mic," he laughed.

At first, I didn't know if I should laugh in response, but as he continued to chuckle, I slowly joined in.

"Tell me, what was it? What's the pro hero scared of?" Bakugo asked.

"Bugs," I responded, still giggling.

"Bugs?" Bakugo questioned, in disbelief.

"Bugs," I confirmed.

He let out one more chuckle before looking up at the street sign.

"This is my street, get back okay, alright?" he told me.

I nodded in response as we went our separate ways.
