Adventures in Jamiesitting~Pixane
A/N Hey, everybody! The sequel to The Ninja Merman is finally out! You don't have to read that to enjoy this, but it'll make a heck of a lot more sense if you do. I didn't get as carried away with this one; it only being a little over 2500 words. And at one point, I was getting kinda bored with it, but then I added the Pixane back in, and I loved it again. So, in short, this Oneshot is a lot of fun! I hope you enjoy it! See you at the end!
On a warm summer Saturday, not long after the Prime Empire incident, Zane and Pixal were babysitting Unagami at the monastery, while the others were away.
They were hanging out and playing chess together as they talked.
And surprisingly, all thirty-seven games they had played ended in a tie.
They were about to start another one, but there was a knock at the door.
For anyone else, it would've been unexpected for someone to be knocking at the door of the monastery, but Zane was barely disturbed.
He walked over to the large door and opened it up, revealing a bespectacled man with messy brown hair.
"Good morning, Zane."
Zane smiled. "Good morning, Mr. Evans. What brings you to the Monastery of Spinjitsu on this fine day?"
"Well..." The man scratched his neck. "Could you babysit Jamie for the day? I'm so sorry to bother you, I mean, my sister was going to watch her while I work today, but she had a last-minute-"
"Do not worry, it is okay," Zane stopped him. "Pixal and I are already watching another child, but if you do not mind, she could join us."
"Uh, I don't know...I wouldn't want to trouble you," the man stammered.
A little girl with the same messy brown hair tied in a ponytail poked out from behind him. "I don't mind at all! Please, Daddy, pleaaase!"
Her father sighed. "Alright." He turned to Zane. "As long as you promise it isn't any trouble."
"No, not at all!" Zane reassured. "I am sure we will have a lot of fun."
"Yay!" Jamie exclaimed, running to Zane and hugging his leg.
"Okay," Mr. Evans said. "I can't thank you enough, Zane. You're a lifesaver. I'll be back at five to pay you and pick her up."
Zane nodded. "Alright, sounds good."
Mr. Evans bent down and kissed his daughter on the forehead. "Have a good time, pumpkin."
The girl gave a giant grin. "I will, Daddy. Bye!"
So, that is how it turned out that both Pixal and Zane were babysitting Jamie and Unagami on the very same day.
And this is where our story really begins.
Pixal was panicked. She could handle the children one at a time, but she didn't expect to babysit them both at once!
Not that the kids weren't great, they were. Unagami was mature for being a former evil video game, and she'd grown quite attached to the kid.
And Jamie was a thoughtful kid, never one to judge, though she always wanted to know what was going on.
Together though, that was where Pixal started to worry. They might be a little too much to handle.
She took a deep breath as Zane's face came back into view. She was overreacting; she wasn't alone. This was going to be okay.
Jamie ran up and hugged her leg, a giant smile on her face. "This is gonna be so fun!"
Pixal picked the girl up, hoisting her onto her shoulders for a piggyback ride. "I did not expect us to be babysitting you today, but I am sure we will have a good time."
Jamie pouted and looked down at the samurai. "You're not babysitting me."
Pixal looked at her, confused. "What? Why?"
Jamie gave her a look like it was apparent. "I'm not a baby!"
Pixal gaze dropped. "Oh. Well, what are we doing then?"
"Duh, I'm a Jamie," she announced, "so you're Jamiesitting me!"
"Oh, alright then," Pixal replied with a smile. And she helped Jamie off so they could sit on the couch with Zane and Unagami.
Jamie looked satisfied until she realized that Unagami was there. "Who are you?"
He smiled shyly. "I am untitled adventure game one. But you can call me Unagami."
"I have no idea what that means, but nice to meet you!" She shook his hand enthusiastically, trying to be polite like her father had taught her. She was seven now. She was a big girl. "I'm Jamie. Do you wanna be friends?"
"Sure." The ponytailed boy grinned. "I like friends. Jay's my friend, and Kai, and Nya, and Lloyd, and Cole and Pixal, and-"
Zane put his hand on Unagami's shoulder. "I think she gets the point, Unagami."
"-Zane," he finished. "Right." Unagami turned to look at Jamie. "What do you like to do?"
Her eyes lit up like she had been waiting for him to ask that. "I love to play pretend games with my dolls! They save the world and beat up the bad guy, and I record it all!"
Unagami winced a little at the words, "bad guy," but smiled despite himself. "That sounds fun. I like games."
"Do you like racing games, like Kermit?"
The boy's ponytail twitched with confusion. "Who's Kermit?"
"She means Lloyd," Pixal explained.
"Oh." Unagami smiled a little. "Yeah."
Jamie bounced a little. "Yay!"
So, the two went over to the corner of the room to play with Jamie's toys she had brought in her backpack.
Zane turned to his love. "They seem to be hitting it off well."
She smiled. "Yes," she responded a second later, a little lost in his glowing blue eyes. "Hopefully, they do not get into too much trouble."
He nodded silently before taking her hand. "I am sorry that I agreed to Mr. Evans' offer without asking you."
"It is alright," she assured. "He looked to need the extra help. That man works too much."
"I agree." He grinned softly, putting his arm around her, making her processor whirr with comfort. "We can have some time together tonight. Uninterrupted."
Pixal's cheeks rose in anticipation. "Yes. That will be great."
She recently set up a big screen tv and couch bed in her workshop, so the two could watch movies and spend time together.
And somehow, none of the other ninja had found out about it.
It was their little secret.
"Same time, same film?"
She nodded. "Of course. Wall-E is my favorite."
His smile shined back at her. "Me too."
The two loved how the robots could say how much they cared about each other, without saying a single word; much like them.
They felt it so much easier, as much as they loved words, to explain the endless depth of their affections through hugs, simple touches, or loving looks.
Because sometimes, silence could voice a thousand feelings.
He looked at her. "That sounds great."
Pixal smiled back at him before spotting the two kids playing off to the side.
Jamie handed a doll to her friend. "You be the cool guy who trains all the heroes. I'll be the awesome girl who gets all the great stuff the heroes do on tape."
"Okay," he responded, surveying the items in front of them. "But what are the toy cars for?"
She made a popping sound with her lips. "Well, the heroes have to beat the bad guys in a race to win all the cookies!"
"What are cookies?"
"What?" She shouted incredulously. "You don't know what cookies are?"
He shook his head. "No."
Jamie threw up her arms and ran over to the couch. "Zaaaane, can we make cookies? Pretty pretty please?"
"I do not understand why the physical appearance of the please would matter, but we can."
Pixal giggled under her breath, earning a smile from her boyfriend. "That sounds fun."
"Yay!" Jamie exclaimed with delight. "Let's start right now!"
Unagami overheard the commotion and walked over, curious to find out what all the fuss was. "You still haven't told me what cookies are. What's going on?"
She turned to him. "Cookies are only the best food ever invented! And Zane said we can make some!"
"Okay..." Unagami walked into the kitchen. "But what are they made of?"
Jamie ran to join him, and Zane got up to follow her. "We can show you."
Zane got out some eggs from the fridge and set them on the counter.
Jamie peered in. "Is this cake The Rock's?"
"Yes, it is Cole's," Zane replied with a chuckle.
Then he got some chocolate chips from the cabinets. "We will have to hide the cookies once we are finished so that Jay does not eat them all."
"Why would Mr. Blues Clues eat cookies that aren't his?" Jamie pouted. "That's not nice."
Zane laughed a little. "I do not know. Maybe he just really likes glucose materials."
"Whaaat?" Jamie remarked with an exaggerated expression.
Zane nodded like a chiding mother. "Just get the flour."
So she ran and grabbed a giant bag of flour, but as she was running back, she slipped and landed with a thump on the bag, causing an explosion of white powder all over everyone in the vicinity.
"That went well," Pixal commented in a sarcastic tone, somehow glaring at both Jamie and Zane at the same time.
Zane opened his mouth and tried to choose his words wisely: "I guess we're going to need to get some more flour..."
Jamie stood up, covered in the white dust. "Is this when I say the word Mr. Porcupine taught me?"
Pixal's eyes went as wide as Jay's love for Nya. "NO."
"Guys, guys, please." Unagami seemed as if he was shaking. "Can't we just go get some more?"
Pixal took a deep breath, noticing the boy's uneasiness with her anger. "Yes. I am sorry I burst out, Unagami." She shot Zane an apologetic look. "We are all friends here."
"Yes, that sounds good," Zane said. "I have some errands to run anyway."
"Okay." Unagami smiled, feeling better.
The snowman looking little girl rose her head. "Can we go now?"
Pixal laughed. "After you get cleaned up."
So, they got all the flour off themselves and the kitchen and began their trip to the grocery store.
And as they were walking down the streets of Ninjago City, Jamie saw a small infant smile at her over a shoulder.
Her eyes went wide with curiosity.
"Miss Pixal, where do babies come from?"
The samurai froze and started reciting something that sounded like it came from a Wikipedia article: "Well, humans reproduce by means of-"
Zane cut her off by clearing his throat and giving her a look like she should have known better.
The look she gave in return made it seem like all she knew on the subject was from scholarly, serious sources.
And she was terrible at improv.
One time, Zane and she had tried an acting class just for fun, to feed their love of theater, but she had made an absolute fool of herself.
She was supposed to be a tough girl trying to arrest him, but when she tried to say, "Where were you last Tuesday night?" Zane would give a flirty, playful response, and she'd sputter, saying something like, "Not ice, how would you, stick it to the ceiling!"
And then all the other participants would laugh at her. Not fun.
So, she tried to improve this time. "Uh, well, Jamie, you see-" Pixal paused for a moment before regaining her composure. "You will know that when you are older. But to summarize, children are made from a lot of love."
Jamie gave a satisfied grin as they crossed the street to the grocery store parking lot. "Okay."
"Thank goodness that is over," Pixal whispered to herself, letting out a sigh of relief.
Then she looked over and saw Zane giving a thumbs up and reassuring smile.
'Why did he have to be such a hug in non-human form?' She thought to herself.
She made a mental note to tell him how much he was appreciated later that night.
And finally, they made it inside the grocery store.
The four of them strolled through the aisles, picking up different things along the path to the flour.
Zane grabbed a six-pack of red Gatorade for Kai, which Jamie called, "Hair grow juice for Mr. Porcupine."
She didn't really understand that he used hair gel.
Anyway, they carried on and picked up a few more things on their way.
Some Twizzlers for Lloyd, some bananas for Jay, (don't ask me, he just really likes bananas) dark chocolate for Nya, tea cookies for Wu, mug cake mix for Cole, and finally, microwave popcorn for their later plans.
Unagami spoke up when they were in the candy aisle: "What are...o ray ooos?"
So, of course, they bought some for him to try.
And in one aisle, a guy was giving out free samples of fancy cheese, and Pixal's curiosity got the best of her, so of course, she had to get some.
Jamie thought it tasted like "Mr. Blues Clues's socks," but Pixal and Zane assured her that it was an acquired taste.
Unagami barely even understood the concept of cheese, to begin with.
Eventually, they finally made it to their destination. Jamie wanted to help put the flour in the cart, but Zane shook his head.
"We'll prevent any possible mishaps if I do it."
Then they took their cart full of random food items and started to get checked out.
The employee muttered something about knowing them from somewhere, as usual, and put their items in bags.
Then, they went out the door and started making their way to the edge of the parking lot to get an Uber.
But before they could do that, Zane turned to Pixal with a massive grin on his face.
He pulled out a bouquet of white roses. "These are for you."
She took them with a soft gasp. "Oh, Zane. You are too sweet."
"No." The corner of his lip curled. "You are."
Jamie made a gagging gesture, but Unagami thought it was cute.
And he was sure Jamie did too, no matter how much she insisted that "love has cooties."
So, the four of them got their groceries and themselves into the Uber and drove back to the foot of the monastery's mountain.
And once they got back inside and put the groceries away, they were able to finish the cookies just in time for the ninja to return.
Kai walked through the door, and immediately his nose perked up. "Mmm. Is that cookies?"
"Yes," Zane replied. "Jamie, Unagami, Pixal, and I made some."
Jay ran up. "Did somebody say cookies?"
He grabbed one off the sheet and took a bite.
Jamie looked unamused. "So much for keeping them hidden."
He ignored her words. "Oh my FSM, these are unbelievable, Zane! You've gotta give me your recipe!"
"I think it is the secret ingredient." Zane smiled. "Love."
Kai scoffed. "Dang, you get sappy when we're gone, Zane."
"What?" Zane asked playfully, "I cannot enjoy myself when you are not here?"
Kai surrendered by stuffing a cookie in his mouth.
So, the ninja, Pixal, Jamie, and Unagami all ate some cookies.
Then, shortly before Jamie's dad returned, Wu came out of his meditation room to find out what the mysterious smell was.
Jamie walked up to him. "Hey, Mr. Karate Master Sir?"
Wu chuckled under his breath. "What is it, young one?"
"Do you want a cookie?"
"Of course."
Not long after that, the others returned to their duties, and the four remaining were lounging on the couch.
Zane heard a knock and went to the door.
"Good evening, Mr. Evans."
The man smiled. "Same to you, Zane. Thank you for watching Jamie for me."
"It was no trouble at all." The ice ninja grinned. "We had a great time."
Jamie ran up with a plastic bag of cookies in her hand. "Yeah, Daddy! It was great! And I made a new friend!"
"That's great, pumpkin." He hugged her. "Have a good night, Zane."
Zane smiled back, feeling better than ever. "I am sure I will."
A/N: How was that? I hope I filled your fluff quotient for the day! My next Oneshot will be thelightningninjasis's request, which I'll start after I write the next chapter of Data Beta: Mirror World. I'm considering making an original short stories/oneshots book because I have some ideas I want to try out, but what do you think? That's pretty much all I have to say, so have a great whenever, and bye!
