Chapter 15

Morgan growled low in his throat, a ball of destructive light forming between his talons and sending it flying towards the demon.

Lilith made no move but another creature appeared infront of her, blocking the blow with its bare hands. The magic dispersed and in its place was a creature that Morgan had yet to met.

His frame was smaller than a normal merman of his race, the talons of his hands small and sharp, pitch black against his white skin. Darkness consumed every corner of his eyes, matching the scales of his tail. Odd markings stretched down his cheek, dipping down just a few centimeters above the corner of his lips.

Full lips that stretched into a sinister smile, two rows of sharp, jagged teeth visible, "It's quite the honor to meet the witch that has awakened the gods."

Morgan could see Atlantis ready his spear and the faint glow around Scarlet's body, "Who are you?" Morgan said, glaring at the newcomer.

The merman chuckled, "Perhaps you know of my useless older brother," the creatures darkened further, "Elric."

Morgan could feel his heart skirt into a stop, but now that he remembered, the slight curve of the merman's nose reminded him of Elric's, the full lips and the shape of his dark eyes, "Merlin? But Elric said that you were-"

"Missing, presumed dead?" the merman snarled, "He barely lifted a finger before accepting Lord Poseidon's pact."

Morgan could see the dark aura pulsing around the merman, black with hatred, rotting the soul within the creature, "Then how were you found?"

Merlin lips twisted into a sneer, "I was never missing in the first place," he snapped before summoning a ball of magic and throwing it at Morgan just as Lilith summoned her own to attack Scarlet. Morgan could hear the screams burst from the edges of the castle, inky fog climbing over the ruby walls.

"This is an invasion," Atlantis declared.

"I demand you to let me go you wretched brutes!" the young merman snarled, "I am a prince and I will have you beheaded!"

"Shut that boy up," Rubyn groaned, pressing his palms to his ears, "He's giving me a headache."

"And lay a hand on a child? Gods forbid me," Raine teased, clearly used to the screams, probably from his previous lovers.

"I am not a child! I am Alec! Seventh son of the seventh son!" The merman growled, "And I will kill you!" Alec shouted, baring his fangs the piercing on his tongue flashing.

Rubyn's lips quirked, "Ah, so you're the one that killed your mother."

It was low blow, but at this point he was past the point of respecting the dead in order to shut up the child.

And it worked for a brief moment, the pain in the child's purple hues, lips parted in agony. For the briefest moment Rubyn could feel his own heart twitch in guilt, but it hardened when the brat opened his lips.

"And you're the one who's mother went mad," Alec spat back.

"Now you filthy brat," Rubyn snarled, raising his hand to dislocate Alec's jaw.

"You're majesty," Raine whispered, "Look." Rubyn frowned and glanced behind him.

He felt his heart drop towards his stomach. He had turned just in time to see a pair of monstrous creatures emerge from the caves. Sickly purple tentacles spurted from the rock, reaching out to latch onto the red walls. They weren't like the tiny octopuses that lingered his kingdom, but much larger and covered in barnacle along with some unknown disease that plagued their skin, patches much more brittle looking than the rest of this slimy skin. Black ink spurted from it's mouth, the dark liquid chewing away the ruby walls of his home.

"It's an invasion," Alec murmured softly, "And not from my people."

Scarlet dodged the witch's attack, the claws barely missing her stomach.

What do you think you're doing? the goddess hissed into her brain, You're just dodging the attacks, you'll never win if you're always on defense. Put a little more back into it.

I'm trying, Scarlet thought back, I've never been a fighter.

Her gaze flitted towards Morgan, the witch battling against the dark tailed creature. She could see the claws slashing at one another, balls of fiery magic curling between their fingers.

"Pay attention to me you little wench!" she demon hissed, her sharp nails barely grazing her cheek.

Scarlet flinched but the pain brought the memory of her past life.

No more, she thought. She clenched her teeth, the fury within her bubbling forth, like a dry fountain finally being brought back to life.

Magic spilled from the gem at the center of her chest, red swirls spreading towards her palms and sending them towards the witch, searing her side.

Scarlet's lips quirked, "Let's get this party started."

Atlantis knew that there was no room for him among a battle of magic users. Instead, he swam into a battle he knew how to fight.

He could see the creature's climbing the walls, the acidic ink making the wall sizzle.

"Stay away from the tentacles and don't let them shoot you!" He commanded to the other warriors who were brave enough to face the creatures. Atlantis clutched his spear, the swords he had borrowed strapped against his back, "Aim for the eyes," he said, a strange feeling settling over his shoulder's , a sense of deja vu urging him to aim for the three eyes on it's fore head.

He would have questioned it if it weren't for the pressure of battle and the stinging pain at the center of his chest.

There is no time for weakness, he thought before letting out a war cry.
