The Road To Corinth

Listen carefully, okay? We don't have a lot of time. It started three years ago. The World Internet Federation reported the appearance of an aggressive new computer worm-- The Venjix Virus.

A year later, it was estimated that Venjix had already infected 37% of the world's computer systems. By then, it was too late. Venjix took control of the world's communications, power, and defence systems. It built armies of advanced robotic soldiers that laid waste to everything in their path. There was no stopping them and Venjix declared victory.

"I AM VENJIX! YOUR WORLD IS MY WORLD AND YOUR TIME IS NOW OVER!"

But it's not over-- Not yet.

If you can hear my voice, please go now to the domed city of Corinth. It is the only place we can be safe. But you have to make it inside the city walls before the defence shield is activated.

Please...hurry.

The domed city of Corinth is surrounded by jets and battles going on.

A truck filled with survivors pulls up to the entrance of the dome, dodging lasers being fired at them.

"Hurry up! Let's go!" a soldier said to the people he was helping out of the truck.

A man known as Colonel Truman stands next to his vehicle looking at the battle as the flames of a small explosion reflect off of his sunglasses.

"Colonel Truman! Colonel Truman!" a soldier known as Hicks calls for his boss.

"Easy son," Colonel Truman stops him from continuing. "Get yourself together and give me a proper report."

"Yes, sir." Hicks informed. "They've broken through the west corridor into zone delta, sir. We can't hold them off."

Colonel Truman takes off his glasses and looks to Hicks with an extra serious expression. "Eagle Squad?" was all he said.

The Soldier shook his head "We lost contact with them a while ago sir." he reported sadly. He knew that the squad had the colonel's two sons in it and being the bearer of bad news wasn't an easy task. "Sir?" he questioned when the older man did not answer.

"Go shoot at something." the Colonel ordered dismissing the Soldier.

"Sir yes sir." the soldier responded as he turned away. Colonel Truman looked on to the battle once again.

A young 19 year old Scottish man named Flynn McAlister is driving a bus filled with injured and non injured survivors into the domed city.

"Hang on, folks," Flynn tells the people as he stops the bus after driving at a fast pace for a while.

Flynn picks up the upper body of the soldiers Venjix created called Grinders.

"You no-good pile of worthless crap!" Flynn yells as he tosses it out of the bus.

Flynn notices a woman in her thirties walk up to the bus and he turns to the little girl sitting in the closest seat to the door.

"Oh, hi. This will be your stop little lass," Flynn said, picking up the little girl and handed her to her mother.

"Thank you," the woman said desperately clutching her daughter to her and walking away.

"You're most welcome," he replied back in his Scottish accent.

"You!" a voice yelled and he turned back around to see the leader of Corinth behind him.

"What are you doing behind the wheel of one of our transport buses?" Colonel Truman asked, aggravated a little.

"I would be driving it...What else would I be doing?" Flynn asked in his Scottish tone smartly.

"And you made it through the entire Venjix army in one piece?" Colonel Truman asked skeptically.

"Aye," Flynn replied back before they heard the grill on the front of the bus fall off.

"Well...Maybe a few pieces, but you know. We made it," Flynn said, rethinking that.

There were more explosions heard and Colonel Truman said,

"You better get these people out of here."

"Aye. I'll get myself out too if you don't mind," Flynn said, going back inside the bus. "Alright. Next stop, Corinth Square."

Colonel Truman saw the grinders closing in and he turned around and ran for the gate into Corinth yelling.

"Fall back! Everybody inside the city walls now!" Colonel Truman ordered.

Once people were inside, Colonel Truman said,

"Stand by to raise the city shields!"

"But sir, your son. He's still--" Hicks tried to tell him.

"On my signal!" Colonel Truman demanded, stopping him mid-sentence.

"Fall back!" a soldier yelled, leading a group of people away from the city walls that would soon be up.

The Colonel saw the grinders and said,

"Seal all city gates...Raise the shields!"

"Seal all city gates!" Hicks ordered into a walkie talkie.

All the gates were sealing when Corporal Hicks noticed a girl on a yellow dirt bike with a guy in pilot gear on the back approaching the gates at a high speed.

"Sir!" Hicks alerted his boss and Colonel Truman turned back to look.

The dome closed and the shield projected a normal clear blue sky with clouds.

"Secure the area!" a soldier ordered some others.

The three on the bike got up and took off their helmets to reveal Scott Truman and Summer Landsdown.

"See. I told you," Summer said, smiling towards her new friend.

Scott chuckles at her.

"Eagle 2," Colonel Truman calls for his son as he approaches.

"Eagle 2...Report," Colonel Truman orders his son. "Where is Eagle 1?"

"Eagle 1 is down sir," Scott says, trying not to cry. "He's gone."

For a second, it's nothing but silence until Colonel Truman breaks it.

"Dismissed," Colonel Truman dismisses his son quietly.

"Oh, but Dad--" Scott starts to say to his dad.

"I said 'Dismissed'," Colonel Truman raises his voice at Scott then leaves.

Scott has a hurt look on his face at the way his father spoke to him, but understood. But his dad needed to understand he was in pain too.

"Come here...Let me take a look at that arm," Summer says as she leads Scott to a medical tent.

Colonel Truman watches his only child walk with the blonde girl to the medical tent.

"Sir...Do you suppose?..." Hicks says, trying to find the right words. "I mean, what if there are more people still out there, sir?"

"Then Heaven help them...because we can't," Colonel Truman said regretfully.

~1 year later...Somewhere outside the dome~

A young 18 yr old girl named Bella Stackhouse fled Bon Tomps in search of a new life away from her sister Sookie when Venjix took over. Now she's just wandering aimlessly in the sand after  running, and running, and running searching for help but it appeared none would come.

She looked at her attire and made an attempt at lighting the mood. "Why the hell did the world end when I was wearing a skirt and high heels?"

She then saw some grinders heading toward her and her eyebrow twitched furiously. "Oh, fantastic." She said her voice laced with sarcasm.

With a heavy sigh she she charged at the grinders, throwing punches and kicks and blasting them with her light. She gave herself a small smile at her accomplishment when she was done. And then, she froze and turned. She had to rub her eyes to make sure she wasn't seeing things, and she wasn't. It was a car.

The car stopped, the door opened, and a young man got out of it. Callie then realized that this was her only chance and she had to take it no matter what, so she went up to him.

"Hey look, I've been wandering out here for days now and I thought no help would come and now you're here. Please can you take me to Corinth. I don't have anything on me right now that could help you but once we get to Corinth I promise I'll pay you back."

She had a feeling she might have come off as desperate, but to be fair the world has ended and this man was her only hope. Finally he spoke. " Alright, get in the car" he said without emotion. Bella nodded, smiled and hopped in the front passenger seat.

"My name's Bella Stackhouse-Connor, just Bella though." She said giving him a smile. "So, what can I call you?" she asked.

"Dillon" he responded humbly while still looking forward. Bella was confused. "There a last name that goes with that?" She wondered aloud. "I don't know." He told her. "Oh, I'm sorry." She said genuinely.

"Why?" he asked her. "Well I assumed...well amnesia might be what you're dealing with." She said looking at her lap.

He nodded.

"Do you have any memories?"

"No, not really. Only that I made a promise to help someone."

"To forget that fucking much you must have gone through quite a shit storm." She remarked.

He raised his eyebrows.

"Gah, sorry. My family had some really colorful vocabulary." She rubbed her temple.

Dillon shook his head. "Don't worry about it."

"Hate to ask, but do you have any food or water?" Dillon then reached over and gave her a small bottle and a few yellow lollipops. "Thanks!"

After finishing her third loli, Bella drifted off and slept.

When she woke up the next morning, she looked over and saw Dillon still as awake as ever. She was stunned that he went all night driving but decided not to ask. Still she remained cautiously optimistic, Dillon was driving like a maniac and Bella could only wonder if he actually knew how to reach Corinth.

"Good, you're awake, now I can stop." He said. "Why?" she wondered.

"Well figure it'd be best to stretch our legs, and the toxic level in the air here is low."

They both hopped out of the car and spotted a small daisy in their path. Dillon got a bottle or water, took a sip and gave it to Bella. Once she to took a sip, she passed it back to him only for Dillon to crouch down and give the rest of the water to the flower.

She had a small smile at this random act of kindness and saw him pull out a watch. "What are you?" Bella asked. "I'm a human-vampire hybrid although I don't remember how but don't tell anyone. I think I have something else in me but I don't know what." Dillon said. Suddenly, someone came up behind Dillon and held something to his back.

"Hold it right there!" the person said. "Eyes front. Keep your hands up...hands up where I can see them!"

"Okay, now my friends. We can do this the easy way or the hard way," the person said, trying to be smart. "I'm gonna count..."

"No," Dillon said, cutting the guy off.

"Wait...What 'no'? How can you say no?" the guy asked in shock.

Dillon and Bella shared a look rolling their eyes as the guy spoke.

"I-I-I haven't even told you my demands yet...Now you've made me lose my train of thought," the guys said.

"You want to start over?" Dillon said to Bella's amusement.

"No...No! We'll just--" the guy said, trying to find the right words. "Let's just keep going. Uh, I need to take your car. Well, let's say 'borrow'. I-I need to borrow your car, okay?"

Dillon and Bella chuckle.

"And those are your demands, huh?" Bella asked, chuckling.

"Yeah, yeah...non-negotiable," the guy said.

"Can I say something now?" Dillon asked.

"Sure," the guy said.

"No!" Dillon said to the guy's supposed demands.

"Okay, that's fine...You know, see, I wasn't going to bring this up because, uh, it's kind of rude but I'm the one holding the blaster here," the guy started off, being what he thought was smart. "Plus, I'm a desperate and dangerous--"

"You're not holding a blaster," Dillon said and Bella nodded, agreeing with him.

"I think I am. What else would it be?" the guy questioned.

"It feels like a 4 ½ inch out take muffler, kind of like the one you might have pulled off that rig over there," Bella said with a slight smirk on her face, nodding her head in the direction of the rig.

"Maybe...I mean...that's an interesting theory..." the guy said. "But...a smart guy like me, he might disguise his blaster."

As he was saying that, Dillon swung around and broke the top part of the muffler with his hand.

"Wait! Okay, not the face. Not the face, alright?" the guy freaked out.

Bella grabbed the guy's bag while Dillon asked him if he had any food or gas but Bella didn't see any, so she handed the bag to Dillon who looked through it again.

"Uh...No, no. That's some of the other stuff I was planning to 'borrow' from you," the guy said to Dillon, and in the bag Bella noticed her mom's necklace that she thought she had around her neck so she must have dropped it.

Dillon took back the necklace and put it around Bella's neck. He then tossed the guy his bag back.

"Okay. Woah, woah! Where are you going? You can't leave me here!" the guy rushed as he held his bag, stopping Dillon from getting into the car and Bella sat in the front in the passenger seat.

"Corinth City, 71 degrees, 5 minutes" The radio said.

"Corinth? You two looking for Corinth?" the guy said knowingly with a smile.

"Idealy." Bella surmised.

"Well, lucky for you two, I can take you there." He said.

"Seriously. That's what you're going with. Look, if you really knew where Corinth was you'd probably be there right now." Bella said crossing her arms.

"Do me a favor, clear off. I already have her and one extra is my limit." Dillon said closing his door with Bella. Strangely she was flattered by this.

"No, wait." the man pleaded. "You can't leave me. Look i'm really from Corinth." he then handed them an ID card.

Dillon takes that card and looks at it then back at the guy.

"Ziggy?" Dillon asked him, amused a bit. "Your name is Ziggy?"

"Yep, that's me," Ziggy said with a small smile on his face.

Bella looked between them with a smile on her face, mixed with a small smirk.

"What are you doing out here, Ziggy?" She asked him, moving over to the driver's seat and sticking her head out the window to look at said boy.

Ziggy laughs a bit. "You know, that's a long story. I'd be happy to tell you the whole thing on the way. Or maybe I could just get in and keep my mouth shut."

"Yes, the second one," Dillon said before getting in the car when Bella moved back over to the passenger seat and put her seat belt on.

Ziggy got in the back with his bag and we drove off towards Corinth.

Dillon drove on a deserted road on the way to Corinth.

"So, you still haven't told me your names yet," Ziggy said, looking at the both of us.

"I don't know," Dillon trailed off.

"You don't know if you want to tell me your name?" Ziggy asked Dillon, unsure.

"I don't know my name," Dillon replied back to the curly haired guy in the back seat.

"What about you?" Ziggy asked, turning his attention to Bella.

"My name's Bella Stackhouse-Connor," She replied back, smiling at him.

Ziggy looked at me for a second longer, then turned back to Dillon.

"Well, where are you from? I mean, who are you, then?" Ziggy asked Dillon, wondering who he is exactly.

"I don't know," Dillon quickly replied, not wanting to talk.

"Ziggy, could you please give him some personal space?" Bella asked

"Right, sorry." Ziggy said. It became silent again. Dillon took a quick glance at Bella through the mirror. She really was different than what he thought she would be. A good different. The silence was broken by Ziggy.

"Oh. Wait-wait-wait!" Ziggy shouted a bit.

The car swerved as it came to a screeching stop in the road.

Ziggy points to something for Dillon and Bella to see.

"See? Ziggy promises and Ziggy delivers. Corinth City," Ziggy said, pointing to the domed city.

"Now. We probably want to pull off the road here and just wait until dark," Ziggy said, looking at his bag and stuff again.

"We can't stop," Bella said to him.

"What?" Ziggy exclaimed.

"We're running on fumes. If I kill the engine now, I may not be able to start it again," Dillon explained, saying it straight forward, looking at the gas tank and the other readings for a quick second.

"No, no, no. This has got to be a joke, right?" Ziggy asked them, starting to freak out. "Y-you're not serious?"

Dillon just tunes him out and presses down on the gas and the car zooms forward.

"Okay, stop. T-time out. Look, we need a reality check," Ziggy told Dillon, still freaking out. "All right, let me spell it out for you. No one has ever run the barricade into the city during daylight. Understand, no one."

"Well, we're as close to no one as you're ever gonna get," Dillon said.

"Okay, you know what. You can, uh--drop me off anywhere along here," Ziggy said, waiting for the car to stop. "Or here, or here...There! Aw, that spot would've been really good."

Ziggy then noticed a few grinders on bikes.

The grinders were still following them on the bikes.

"And they're right on top of us...They are right on top of us," Ziggy said, seeing the grinders approach them at a certain speed.

"Hand me that," Dillon demanded Ziggy, motioning towards one of the explosives they got from a few grinders a while back.

"What? What, this?" Ziggy asked him, holding up a wrench and then a screwdriver. "You mean this?"

Bella groaned and shook her head at Ziggy's rushing behavior.

"Can you be more specific?" Ziggy raised his voice a bit. "This. You mean this?"

"You do not mean this," Ziggy said in disbelief, holding up another 2 lemon lollipops and making Bella giggle. Dillon took one while Bella took the other.

"Okay," Ziggy said, trying not to breakdown.

"This isn't happening. I'm running the Venjix barricade in broad daylight with, uh, Willy Wonka at the wheel and Willy Wonka Jr. in the passenger seat," Ziggy said, not believing what he was saying.

The perimeter patrol was not letting up and shooting at us.

"Ugh! Oh!" Ziggy let out as the car jerked around, now being shot at with blasters.

"Okay! Okay!" Ziggy mumbled.

Bella grabbed one of the explosives off the floor of the car and handed it to Dillon.

Dillon, for some reason, stuck his lollipop to the explosive as it hummed before throwing it out the window at the grinders.

Behind us, they heard nothing but an explosion and she smirked.

Dillon and Bella started laughing and Ziggy just looked at them, scared a bit but not surprised.

"Remind me, uh, never to get on your bad sides," Ziggy said.

"Trust me. You're already there," Dillon told him.

"Okay, uh, close call," Ziggy started to say. "But I think we have enough time to uh, turn around and back up before we hit the--The Venjix Barricade!" Ziggy shouted, pointing at the system rising from the ground.

There was a group of grinders in front of us blasting us in the process. The car swerved as Dillon tried to navigate through the grinders while the car took some hits.

Ziggy laughed nervously. "We can still turn back...We can still turn back!...We can still turn back!!"

Bella picked up another explosive and tossed it out the window at the grinder patrol.

Bella quickly turned back around as Dillon zoomed forward towards the barricade.

~In the Corinth City control center, safely inside the dome~

"Sire, we're picking up an incoming bio-signal," Hicks started to report to his boss Colonel Truman. "Outside the dome, sir."

Colonel Truman quickly got up and went over to the home system where one soldier, Vasquez, is working.

"Talk to me, Vasquez," the Colonel demanded quickly.

"A single vehicle driving straight through the middle of the Venjix barricade," she told him

"Definitely human--Maybe one or three bio-fields," she said, looking at the scanner.

"Well, which is it? One or three?" Colonel Truman asked her, confused.

"The scan must be off, sir," Vasquez says, looking confused at the readings. "It's reading 2 ½."

The Colonel sighed and with a serious voice. He commanded Vasquez.

"Alert Dr. K,"

~Venjix's Palace~

One of Venjix's henchmen, General Shifter reported something outside of the dome.

"Your most exalted Venjix, we have a human target approaching the city's barricades."

On the virtual monitor that popped up, they could see a black car speeding towards the barricade.

"We're gonna blow it to tinie, tiny bits tight?" another one of Vanjix's henchmen pleaded. "Please!!"

"Of course. I always enjoy a little target practice," Venjix said as the red light grew brighter.

~Wasteland~

Ziggy was telling a story of his but Bella was just silent, looking out the window while throwing an explosive at more grinders.

"I never learned how to play a musical instrument," Ziggy hummed as he ate one of the extra lollipops we had in the front of the car.

Dillon then threw another explosive out the window, hitting another grinder.

"Always wanted to, you know," Ziggy continued. "Who...Who knows? I could've been the greatest clarinet player in the world."

"Hand me more thermix charges," Dillon asked Ziggy, not listening to his story.

Ziggy goes to reach for one and accidentally turns it on and it starts beeping.

"That's not good, is it?" Ziggy asked nervously.

Dillon then swerves the car around a few grinders, still rushing towards the dome, and that causes Ziggy to drop the thermix charge.

"And that's gotta be worse," Ziggy says before reaching for the device.

"It's ok, Ziggy. Just hold on tight and let him drive. I got this." Bella said. She made her way to the door and opened it.

"What are you doing?!" Ziggy asked

"Just shut your eyes and think that you're on a rollercoaster. And Dillon, do not stop this car." Bella said. Dillon looked in the mirror. Bella's back was facing him.

"Call me Dillon." Dillon said.

"What?" Ziggy asked.

"My name, you can call me 'Dillon'." Dillon said.

"It's nice knowing you, Dillon and Bella." Ziggy said. Bella returned her focus to the barricade.

"Bella, now!" Dillon said. Bella didn't hesitate and threw the bomb. For a man she just met a day ago, she trusts him. "Hang on!" Dillon yells.

Part of the barricade exploded wide enough so the car could get through the city gates, that were opened.

~The Corinth Control Center~

"They made it!" Vasquez said, turning to her boss with Hicks standing beside her.

Colonel Truman went to his monitor at his desk to talk to Dr. K.

"Dr. K," he greeted when the familiar 'K' popped up on the screen.

"Lower the shield and open the gate, please Colonel," the computerized voice came from the computer.

Colonel Truman sighed. "There's gonna be infiltration before we can get the shield back up."

"Understood. My team is on the way," the computerized voice replied.

Dillon drove through the opened gate and into the dome, leaving behind the last of the grinders.

Dillon stopped the car when it came to a stop with a swerve.

"I'm alive! We made it!" Ziggy exclaimed with a smile and it made Bella giggle a bit.

They then heard the familiar sound of the grinders and she groaned.

Bella looked out the window to see a group of grinders and a robot made by Venjix.

They started to approach the car, but three people blocked their way.

They had black leather jackets with respective colors and numbers on the back.

Red and 1 for Scott Truman.

Blue and 2 for Flynn McAlister

Yellow and 3 for Summer Landsdown

"READY!" they all yelled together.

"RPM! GET IN GEAR!"

Bella was in shock as they transformed into power rangers.

She saw the four of them take on the grinders and she heard Ziggy gasp so she and Dillon turned and looked at him strangely, so he turned back to watch the fight.

"Ohh!" Bella said as the guy in blue lands punches on a few grinders.

"Oh!" Ziggy and Bella said, noticing the attack bot generation 5 start to approach.

Summer noticed the bot approach and she jumped onto the hood and shot at the attack bot, making him run away. She turned around and waved at them, then jumped off and joined the other three.

"You okay?" Scott asked her.

"Yeah!" she replied.

Then they ran to battle the attack bot.

They see them call their weapons from their bet and that got Ziggy excited for the battle.

"Now that's what I'm talking about. Go Rangers!!" Ziggy shouted at the end.

"Wait, 'Go' what?" Dillon asked

"Rangers." Ziggy said

"Excuse me?" Bella asked. She didn't know who or what these 'Rangers' were.

"Power Rangers." Ziggy said. Dillon looked at Bella through the mirror with confusion. Bella looked at Dillon with confusion too. Then they looked at Ziggy and asked the same question.

"What's a Power Ranger?"
