Chapter 39[🌺]

The early morning sun filtered softly through the curtains, casting a gentle glow over the room. Taehyung blinked awake, slowly becoming aware of the warmth enveloping him. His heart skipped a beat when he realized his head was resting against Jungkook's chest, their legs tangled under the blankets. The steady rise and fall of Jungkook's breathing made it clear he was still asleep, unaware of the closeness between them.

Taehyung's breath hitched as he carefully shifted to get a better look at Jungkook's face. The younger king looked peaceful in his sleep, his usual sharp features softened by the relaxed expression. His dark lashes rested on his cheeks, and his lips were slightly parted as he breathed quietly.

The sight made Taehyung's heart swell with something he couldn't quite name yet, something deeper than he had ever let himself feel before. For a moment, he just lay there, watching Jungkook in the quiet of the early morning, savoring the rare opportunity to admire him up close without the usual banter or teasing between them.

Taehyung's eyes flicked down to Jungkook's lips. His heart raced at the thought that crossed his mind, a thought he would usually brush aside. But in this intimate, peaceful moment, with no one around to witness or judge, he felt a pull he couldn't resist.

Carefully, almost nervously, Taehyung leaned in closer. He hesitated just above Jungkook's lips, the warmth of their closeness making his heart pound. His mind was racing, battling between caution and the strange, undeniable urge to act on the feelings he had kept buried for so long.

Slowly, almost hesitantly, Taehyung brushed his lips against Jungkook's in the lightest of pecks. It was barely a kiss, more of a fleeting touch, but the softness of Jungkook's lips against his own sent a jolt through him.

His eyes fluttered shut for a brief moment as he savored the sensation, hoping Jungkook wouldn't wake up. As soon as he pulled back, Taehyung's face burned with the realization of what he had done. His heart hammered in his chest, and he quickly glanced at Jungkook's face, praying he hadn't woken him up.

Jungkook stirred slightly, but his eyes remained closed, his breathing still even and calm. Taehyung let out a quiet sigh of relief, his body relaxing just a little. He couldn't help but smile softly to himself, though his cheeks were still flushed with embarrassment.

He lay back down, careful not to disturb Jungkook, but his mind was still reeling. He hadn't meant to act on impulse like that. It was a moment of weakness, of curiosity, and something more-a small, innocent gesture of the feelings that had been slowly growing within him.

Taehyung stared up at the ceiling, feeling the warmth of Jungkook's arm still draped over him, and wondered what it all meant. Was it just a fleeting moment, or was it something that would change everything between them?

Either way, for now, Taehyung allowed himself to relax again, letting the peaceful quiet of the morning wrap around them both as they lay together in each other's arms. Whatever came next, he would face it when the time was right.

As Taehyung settled back into Jungkook's chest, trying to calm his racing heart, he felt a slight shift in the body next to him. Before he could move away, Jungkook's arms tightened around him, and he realized with a start that Jungkook was waking up.

Jungkook blinked a few times, his sleepy eyes meeting Taehyung's startled gaze. There was a moment of silence as they stared at each other, the closeness of their bodies suddenly impossible to ignore. Taehyung's heart hammered in his chest, the warmth from their proximity making his mind spin.

Jungkook, however, didn't seem to notice Taehyung's nervousness. Instead, his lips curved into a soft smile, his eyes admiring Taehyung in the quiet morning light. He hadn't fully processed why they were so close, but he found himself not minding at all. There was something about waking up next to Taehyung that felt... right.

"You're awake," Jungkook said, his voice still husky from sleep. His smile deepened as he watched Taehyung's flushed face.

Taehyung swallowed, trying to keep his cool, but he couldn't stop his cheeks from reddening further under Jungkook's gaze. "Yeah... I-I should probably get up," he muttered, his voice quieter than usual. He shifted slightly, trying to pull away, but Jungkook's grip didn't loosen.

Jungkook's eyes twinkled with amusement. "What's the rush? You're acting shy all of a sudden," he teased lightly, his hand resting on Taehyung's waist.

The teasing only made Taehyung's face burn more. He quickly sat up, avoiding Jungkook's gaze, and ran a hand through his hair in an attempt to compose himself. He couldn't let Jungkook know what he had done-what if Jungkook realized he'd kissed him while he was asleep?

"I'm not... I'm not shy," Taehyung muttered, standing up abruptly. "We have a lot of work to do today. I should get started."

Jungkook watched him, puzzled by the sudden change in Taehyung's behavior. He was sure something had happened between them last night-something had shifted. But now, Taehyung seemed distant, almost avoiding him.

Before Jungkook could say anything else, Taehyung had already left the room, mumbling something about alliance duties. Jungkook sat up slowly, confusion clouding his thoughts. Why was Taehyung acting so strange all of a sudden? They had been fine the night before, but now... something was different.

Throughout the day, Taehyung threw himself into work, avoiding Jungkook at every turn. He busied himself with meetings, paperwork, and discussions about the kingdom's alliances, anything to keep his mind off of the morning. He couldn't face Jungkook after what had happened-after the kiss he had stolen. The last thing he wanted was for Jungkook to think he had crossed a line.

Jungkook, on the other hand, was left confused and slightly frustrated by Taehyung's behavior. Every time he tried to approach Taehyung, the other king would find an excuse to leave or avoid eye contact. It wasn't like Taehyung to act this way, and it only made Jungkook more determined to figure out what was going on.

As the day went on, a new visitor arrived at the palace-a princess from a neighboring kingdom. She had come to tour Jungkook's beautiful kingdom as part of strengthening their alliance. Her presence was polite and diplomatic, but her interest in Jungkook was unmistakable. She stayed close to him throughout the day, asking questions about the kingdom, complimenting his leadership, and laughing at his every word.

Jungkook, ever the gracious host, entertained her with ease, but his mind wasn't fully on the conversation. He kept glancing over at Taehyung, hoping to catch his attention, but Taehyung was determined to ignore him.

It wasn't until later in the day when Jungkook was walking with the princess in the palace garden that Taehyung's patience finally snapped. He had been watching from a distance, his jealousy building with each laugh the princess shared with Jungkook. It was irrational-he knew that-but he couldn't help it. The sight of someone else getting close to Jungkook, someone who wasn't him, made his blood boil.

Without thinking, Taehyung strode over to where Jungkook and the princess were walking. He didn't care about being seen or what anyone would think. His jealousy was too strong to hold back any longer.

"Jungkook," Taehyung called out, his voice sharp. Jungkook and the princess both turned to look at him, surprise evident on their faces.

Before anyone could react, Taehyung grabbed Jungkook's arm and pulled him away from the princess. He didn't stop until they were inside the palace, away from prying eyes, and slammed the door shut behind them. Jungkook, still startled by Taehyung's sudden outburst, looked at him in confusion.

"What's gotten into you?" Jungkook asked, his voice a mix of surprise and concern.

But Taehyung didn't respond. His chest was heaving with a mix of jealousy and frustration, his eyes blazing as he looked at Jungkook. Without another word, Taehyung grabbed the front of Jungkook's shirt and pulled him closer, crashing their lips together in a heated, desperate kiss.

Jungkook's eyes widened in shock, but the surprise quickly melted into something else. He wrapped his arms around Taehyung's waist, pulling him even closer as he kissed back with equal intensity. The tension that had been building between them for days, maybe even weeks, finally spilled over, and neither of them held back.

Taehyung kissed Jungkook fiercely, his fingers tangling in Jungkook's hair as he poured all of his pent-up emotions into the kiss. He didn't care about the consequences or what it meant-he just needed Jungkook to know that he wasn't going to let anyone else have him.

When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathless, their foreheads resting against each other. Taehyung's eyes were dark with jealousy, but there was something else there too-something more vulnerable.

"You... you can't let her get close to you," Taehyung whispered, his voice hoarse. "I won't let anyone else take you."

Jungkook, still catching his breath, looked at Taehyung with wide eyes. He could see the possessiveness in Taehyung's gaze, the jealousy that had driven him to this point. But there was also a flicker of something else, something softer.

Jungkook smiled, his hand gently cupping Taehyung's cheek. "You don't have to worry about anyone else, Taehyung," he said softly. "There's only you."

Taehyung's breath caught in his throat at the sincerity in Jungkook's words. For a moment, he didn't know what to say. The jealousy that had consumed him moments ago began to fade, replaced by a warmth that spread through his chest.

"I'm serious," Jungkook continued, his thumb brushing lightly over Taehyung's cheek. "You don't need to be jealous. I only care about you."

Taehyung felt his heart swell at Jungkook's words, and for the first time, he allowed himself to believe it. He nodded slowly, his jealousy easing, and leaned in to kiss Jungkook again, this time slower, softer, letting the emotions between them finally settle into something real.

They stayed like that for a while, wrapped up in each other, the tension and jealousy from earlier melting away.
