Chapter 8
*Mridula Pov*
"I don't want to learn this." I stated, gesturing at the glasses' in front of me.
"You should, Mridula. What if some guest asks you to bring something or even your husband?" Aunty asked, sighing but I just frowned at the glasses.
"But for each party, you are the one who always takes care of such things right? What is the need for me to do it now?" I asked, not liking the smell and different names for even the type of the same look alike liquids.
"Now, you are next to me. After me, you should take care of all these things and even guide my other daughter-in-laws when I will just take some rest." She replied folding her arms.
"You? You will just take a rest?" I asked, not at all believing her words.
"Fine! But I really don't want the headache of teaching them when I am not close to them." she replied smiling a little.
"Whoever they are, they will be better than me." I mumbled frowning already feeling confused with his distant behavior no matter what I do.
At least, he is calling me by my name as I am doing the same, and we are normal, but it's been more than two weeks since we got married. We should start knowing a little about each other right?
"I should start looking for a girl to get Dileep marry. The scandals are getting huge." she commented, and I frowned at her.
"Aunty, he doesn't want to get married right now. And there is still Aahil, right?" I asked her to which she rolled her eyes.
"You don't take the side of your best friend, Mridula. At least Aahil is just going to a few parties, and that's all without any scandal written about him, but Dileep is another case." She replied standing up.
"I will make some calls before he gets involved with another girl and takes this time of his breakup into my use." She added and walked away.
"Where is Mom?" I heard a groggy voice, and I looked up to see Aahil climbing down the stairs while rubbing his forehead.
"In her room! Do you want to drink anything?" I asked, to which he immediately looked at the glasses in front of me.
"I don't think they will help." He replied jokingly, and I looked at him in surprise.
He never talked to me and always stayed away without exchanging more than simple words, and now he is joking. Must be because now I am family or something! I thought, smiling at him.
"I know! And I was talking about coffee or even buttermilk." I said, getting up and he laughed before nodding.
"How is Bhai?" he asked when I brought him the buttermilk.
"He is fine." I replied, smiling and then remembered that he is not getting any nightmares after the first day.
"I just want him to be normal." he mumbled making me frown.
"He is normal." I said not understanding his words, and he looked back at me in shock before actually smiling at me.
"Really? That is really great." He said and walked away, making me still frown with confusion.
"Aunty is trying to find a girl for you." I whispered when Dileep entered the house in the evening.
"Tell her that I am capable of searching the next date by myself." he whispered back mockingly, and I hit his shoulder frowning.
"I am serious!" I mumbled before walking away while he chuckled, following me to the dining area.
"What is it I am hearing, Mom? You are searching for a bride?" he asked making my eyes go wide and Aunty immediately glanced at me.
"You already told him?" she asked, frowning and I glared a little at him while he had a mocking look over his face.
"It's ok, Mom. You will be the one who can find a girl for me to marry. So, do not worry about that." he said to which she felt happy before everyone settled down to eat.
"Eat with us at least today, Mridula." Dileep added when I just served them.
"She always wants to eat with her husband, Dileep. Don't force her at all." Aunty said, but he just looked determined.
"If you are my friend, then you will give us company by eating with us." He said challenging me.
"Fine!" I said, sitting beside him and served myself while Aunty looked wary.
"See, it wasn't so difficult right?" he commented when we all finished the food.
"This is just for today, and next time just don't challenge our friendship." I said in a serious tone, and he nodded apologetically for saying it like that.
"So, how is married life?" he asked when everyone left while I stayed back to arrange the table.
"Will you ask me whenever you stay at home?" I asked back, to which he didn't smile but just stayed in silence.
"I am fine, Dileep. There is no reason to even worry for me." I replied, assuring him and then talked about his new ideas for the company and then about the new scandal.
After he left, I walked inside my room to freshen up before he returns from the office. When I stepped outside the washroom, I saw him entering the room, making me smile at him.
"I will bring the food." I said, smiling more and left the room after he gave a small nod.
"Will you bring your plate later?" he asked when I placed the food on the table while he walked outside the washroom.
"No! Actually, I already had my dinner as Dileep forced me to." I replied smiling before serving the food.
"Are you a kid to do something when someone forces you to?" he asked little harshly and I glanced up to see him sitting on the chair with a blank face.
I don't even know what to say so I stayed in silence while he started having his food. He didn't utter a single word, and I didn't start anything myself still feeling confused by his words.
"How is your day?" I asked him slowly to which he didn't reply.
"What did I do?" I asked again when he finished the food and all I got was silence in return.
"Fine!" I mumbled to myself and started arranging the plates and dishes on the tray before leaving the room.
I returned with water to see him already lying on the bed, and I glanced at the tablets which he didn't take.
"I brought the water for the tablets." I mumble placing the jug and glass on his side.
"Good night!" I mumbled again before drifting off into sleep after waiting for a few minutes so that he will have the tablets which he didn't.
In the middle of the night, I suddenly woke up hearing a shout and turned to switch on the light and then glanced at him.
He is shouting along with trembling and also sweating profusely while I sat still for a few minutes not knowing what top even do.
"Hey! It is fine." I whispered slowly placing my hand on his head and the other on his cheek, and he suddenly held my hand which is on his cheek.
"No!" He again shouted, but held my hand tightly.
"Tajwar!" I said, shaking him and he immediately jerked out of his nightmare making me lose the balance near my elbows because of which I fell over him.
However, I continued to whisper 'It is ok!' to him and he continued to breathe hard still holding me. Then his hand left mine and moved around me along with the other hand, making my eyes go wide and stare at his face.
He still has his eyes closed, but he didn't release me. However, his breathing slowed a little and is still awake.
"Are you ok?" I slowly asked, coming out of the awkwardness and slowly brushed the sweat away from his face.
"Yeah!" he whispered with groggy voice and then slowly opened his eyes.
"Do you want some water?" I asked, still with my hand over his cheek.
"First of all, move away from me." He replied, frowning to which I sighed.
"You are holding me." I mumbled and he immediately removed his hand while I moved away.
"I should have taken the sleeping tablet, and I need not to do that if you are not staying here." He said moving to sit up while I frowned at me.
"What is the connection with me?" I asked, frowning while he took some water from the glass.
"I don't want someone to mock me for these and then joke about it." He replied through gritted teeth.
"You think I would mock you?" I asked him in a hurt tone.
"I don't know you, right?" he asked, shrugging off my words, making me feel a slight invisible pain.
"And whose fault is that?" I asked before I could stop myself and lay down with my back towards him.
"You didn't tell anyone about this, right?" he asked after a few minutes.
"No!" I replied, hugging myself and stared at the wall.
"Good! Don't even think about it." He said before, I felt him shifting and then lying on the bed.
"Like I said, it is your fault that you don't know me." I mumbled before switching off the light and drifted off into sleep feeling both his hug and the slight pain from his words.
Why is it so complicated? I thought at last feeling it should have been more than simple and not like this.
