Chapter 42

*Mridula Pov*

I contemplated for a second before entering the room and saw him staring at the mirror lost in his thoughts. He suddenly closed his eyes and shook his head before opening them.

When he started passing me holding the briefcase, I gave him his lunch which he took calmly and walked away.

During breakfast, it didn't feel like a new bride entered the house, and we were all happy just a few days back.

I sighed and thought before mumbling "Maybe it will be good if Amrin makes some sweet dish for tonight."

"Are you ok with it?" I asked her before anyone could say anything.

"Yeah!" she replied, nodding, but didn't glance at us.

"Even Nipuna can assist her as she missed the chance." I tried to joke, but she just nodded before getting up and walked away.

I glanced at Aunty to see her giving me a small assurance nod before leaving the table along with uncle except Dileep and Aahil.

"What happened to them?" I asked both.

"I don't even know how to fix it. I mean for before mistakes, we showed our love as proof for forgiveness, but now even after that we again hurt them." Dileep said shaking his head.

"You need to talk with her." I mumbled staring at him.

"Do you do the same?" he asked, raising his eyebrow and walked away when I didn't reply to anything to him.

When I saw that Aahil is still in his place, gazing at me, I gave him a questioning glance to which he slowly smiled.

"I am all ears to listen to your suggestions. You helped me last time, and I know I can depend on them." He said shrugging.

"What actually happened?" I asked, sitting back at my place.

Then he explained about him asking her dad for some suggestions and then the teasing of hers by shilpa which got supported by him.

"You actually let shilpa say that?" I asked him in shock.

"She always takes those things sportively. So, I thought she would do the same." He replied frowning.

"She asked us to promise that Aahna never reaches Shilpa's hands, Aahil. You should have realized how much she detested that girl." I said shaking my head.

"I know! I mean I understood it now. She is not even letting me say a word, and I don't know how to say and what." He explained sighing.

"First, understand her problem and then solve it. Explain to her regarding her dad's calls and even better show her he really changed and assure her you will not repeat his mistakes." I continued to talk and talk and he just nodded to each word.

"Now, what happened to you?" he asked in the end.

"I don't know what you are asking." I replied and moved to get up, but he gestured at me to not.

"I am not all that selfish to just ask about my problems. Now, tell me what happened because of which you are so different." He mumbled.

"I... I just lost hope, and I don't know how to get it back or should I even get it back." I mumbled honestly.

"Well, as far as I can think. Get it back if you feel like you should." He said shrugging.

"I know! It is not such a suggestion, but it is still a good point." He added looking at my frown.

"So, why did you never talk to me before when you were having a crush on me as per you?" I asked, changing the topic.

"My Mridula just became so bold. Anyway, I am telling you now, but don't repeat it near anyone. I felt shy to say any word to you." He replied in a whisper.

"What?" I asked him not believing his words.

"Yes! I felt shy to say a single word, and so I used not to say anything." He replied and I suddenly burst out laughing not at all believing his words.

"I can't believe it." I mumbled calming down and glanced up to only still in my place.

"Bhai! What are you doing here at this time?" Aahil said following my gaze looking at Tajwar.

"Nothing!" he replied, still staring at me before walking away to our room.

"Well, I will go to my workplace and think a lot regarding your suggestions." Aahil said getting up and left the house.

I climbed the stairs and reached the room to see him sitting on the bed holding his head. I took the lunch from the table and turned to leave the room, but stopped hearing his words.

"Isn't Aahil a great father? I am sure Dileep will be one too. Then why am I unfit to be one?" his whispers made me clutch to the carriage tightly.

"I..." I couldn't even say anything to him.

"I know I had hurt you many times, but I never lied to you. I was honest in every moment saying the things I think. I never expected your deception, Mridula." He said, and I turned to see him staring back at me.

I opened my mouth to be able to say that even I didn't expect to do that, but I did. However, at the last second, I closed my mouth and turned around before leaving the room.

During the lunch time, Aunty observed him, but didn't utter a single word. I concentrated on the dinner arrangements and stood back explaining Amrin where is everything.

Nipuna assisted but they both kept quiet, and I know I was not in the right place to interfere and ask what was wrong.

Surprising all of us, Tajwar complimented Amrin's dish, and she smiled back. I thought there would be so much tension between both and seems like I again thought wrongly.

"There will be a reception within two days." Aunty suddenly announced and added, saying everything would be done by party planners.

"No one will be required to do a single thing except getting ready and be here on time. No one should miss it." She ordered and left the table, after giving Amrin a gift for the sweet dish along with Uncle.

Nothing changed even after two days and the night before the reception, I couldn't stop myself and started searching for Auny and saw her sitting in the garden.

"Mridula! They arranged everything perfectly right? We should do this more often than stressing ourselves." She said smiling at me.

"You know Tajwar was being distant. Then why didn't you ask him what happened?" I directly asked before sitting beside her.

"I don't think he will answer me. He didn't for the past few years." She replied shrugging.

"Why didn't you ask me?" I asked her frowning.

"He is not your duty and shouldn't have been from the beginning. I have learned my mistake and will not repeat it by hurting you." She replied, smiling at me placing her hand over my cheek.

"I have hurt him, Aunty." I slowly said, and she gave me a disbelief look.

"I have really hurt him." I said and started telling her what happened when Aahna born and then my decisions but my deceiving him.

"I didn't mean to, Aunty." I said covering my mouth and sobbed into it when she sat stunned at her place.

"It is getting late, Mridula. Go and sleep." She suddenly said, getting up.

"Aunty..." I called for her, but she just shook her head before walking away, and I stayed back on the bench for a few more minutes before returning to the room.

He is lying on the bed but is not asleep and looking at the ceiling. I lay beside him with my back to him and hugged myself.

"Don't cry!" I heard his whisper and his hand on my shoulder.

I turned back before moving into his arms and hugged him tightly. He hugged me back, but stayed silent, making me clutch to him more before drifting off into sleep.

"You are looking great." I said, smiling at Amrin.

"Thanks!" she said, smiling back.

I glanced at Nipuna to see her wearing a loose dress making me frown. I shook her and she just shook her head before moving away.

"You go and get ready, Mridula." Nipuna said, and I sighed before leaving for my room.

After getting freshen up, I walked outside and started wearing the saree but stilled when I saw that he was in the room getting ready.

"I will go out." He said walking outside, and I stared at myself before finishing getting ready.

During the reception, everyone gave fake smiles to outsiders and behaved normally until the function finished with everyone leaving.

"I know it is really late. But I want to apologize to you, Abhivanth." We suddenly heard Nipuna's dad and turned to look at him in shock.

"He is not the one who should get your apologizes." Suddenly, Aunty said before uncle can say anything and walked near to me.

"Apologize to this girl." She added before dragging me near to him making us frown at her.

"To your daughter-in-law?" he asked frowning.

"No! To the daughter of a woman whose name is used by you to push Abhivanth away from politics." Aunty said, and he stared at me with wide eyes.

"I am so sorry about that. I know I shouldn't have said bad things about her when she got married and the family, but my sister ran away after my dad started taunting her and torturing her mentally when Abhivanth didn't want to marry her and got married to you." He slowly started explaining.

"Please tell your Mom to forgive me, Mridula. I shouldn't have done it, but I just got blind with rage." He added looking at me.

When he left, we all turned to look at Aunty still in shock. She glanced at me and then took me near uncle.

"Apologize to her Mom, Abhivanth." She said to Uncle.

"Tell your Mom that I know I acted like mindless man and separated her daughter from her. But I learned my mistake and want to make it up with her." He said, and I released my hand from her before taking a step back.

"I don't understand! I am not talking to my Mom. She asked me to never call her." I said and held my head.

"She even told you to listen to me. Now, I am asking you to return to your parents and tell her all this." Aunty said folding her arms.

"What? But she said not to come there at all." I mumble placing my hand on the chair.

"I am ordering you to go there." She said.

"For a visit?" I asked, to which she shook her head.

"No! You have to go there for forever." Her reply made me still, and I waited for her to laugh and say that she is just joking.

"Go and pack your bags." she said in a serious tone.

"Mom!" Dileep and Aahil said walking near to her, and I glanced around for Tajwar to see him staring at me.

"You are joking right?" Nipuna asked, and she shook her head.

"Go Mridula! Don't you want to meet your parents who stayed away from you for the past ten years?" aunty asked and that made me turn before walking to my room.

I slowly started packing still thinking this is a dream until Tajwar walked inside before sitting on the bed.

"So, you are leaving?" he asked, staring at me.

"My parents!" that's all I replied, deciding I can't miss them anymore.

After packing I waited for a few minutes, but started walking outside when I heard nothing but silence.

"Mridula!" Aunty said, stopping me near the door when everyone hugged me still with shock written all over their faces.

"Tell your Mom that I broke my promise." She said and called for the driver.

"This is your bank account, Mridula. I put all the money I have to give you in this." Amrin said, giving me some papers, and I slowly nodded.

"You will come back right?" she asked, holding my hand.

"I don't know!" I mumbled glancing at Aunty and remembering her words.

"Take care, Mridula." They all said while I waited another second for him, but then got inside the car before it started moving making all of them out of my sight.

What is happening? I thought, leaning back, closing my eyes, but then thought about my parents whom I really want to meet. However, like this?

*Premila Pov*

I walked inside the house with everyone following me and got a nod from Abhivanth. I turned around to see everyone looking at me with shock and questioning eyes.

"If anyone else has any problems in their marriage, then let me know about it. I will arrange something like this for anyone if they wish to." I said, and everyone took a step back.

"I continued my life in an unwanted marriage and still doing, but I don't want the same fate to my children. So, let me know soon." I added before turning around and walked inside the room with him following me.

"So, is it still an unwanted marriage?" he asked after closing the door and leaned on it.

"No!" I replied, turning around with a smile, and he smiled back.

"Did we do the right thing?" he asked when I moved into his hold.

"We can't put her parents in more misery and let them join before I can believe that Tajwar really wants her with his heart and not as a wife he got by force." I replied sighing.

"You should have seen the remaining faces when you said the last words." He said shaking his head.

"They are thinking, being silent is everything in a marriage. We at least fought openly, Abhivanth. I may not do anything personally, but this I can do right." I said shrugging.

"What if Tajwar leaves to go near her before you get assurance?" he suddenly asked frowning.

"No one knows in which village, they live, Abhivanth. Only the driver and I know and not even you." I replied smirking at him.

"I don't know?" he mumbled to himself, and I shook my head before moving away.

"I hope your sister will not be much mad at me for everything." I mumbled folding my arms.

"We will see about it." He said, assuring me.

I hope this is the right thing to do for her marriage, but it is definitely the right thing to do for her to meet her parents now.

Oh god! Why is everything so messed up? I thought closing my eyes and wished-for everything to get back normal.
