Chapter 23

*Mridula Pov*

"Can you do something for me, Mridula?" Aunty asked making me glance up from the food, I am arranging before her in her room.

"What is it, Aunty?" I asked her frowning.

"There will be a party at one house tomorrow and the hosts are really important ones who make decisions for the family is having with government. I have to go, but I am still not feeling well right." she replied and I nodded, waiting for her to ask what she wants to.

"Can you attend this along with Tajwar?" I sat still for a few seconds hearing her request and immediately shook my head.

"He doesn't like the parties, and the outside ones are not at all acceptable. And I have not learnt anything regarding what to do while going to someone's party." I said, and she sighed.

"I know it is hard, and I would have asked Dileep but he is out of station regarding business. And Aahil can't go because he is in the political field which will cause scandal. Also Nipuna is already showing a little. Try to ask him." she explained to which I slowly nodded before leaving the room.

After everyone had their dinner, I look after the cleaning and walked towards my room. When I entered I saw him reading a file and closed the door before walking near to the door contemplating regarding how to convince him.

"Go ahead and ask." I got startled hearing his voice and mainly the words.

"What?" I asked him frowning.

"You are fidgeting with your fingers and have a thoughtful look which you give only when you have to ask me something. So, go ahead." He explained, and I smiled seeing the way he knows the little things about me.

"I... I just want to ask will you come to a party tomorrow with me?" I asked and stared at him for his reaction.

"Me? For a party? What kind of party is this?" he asked, raising his eyebrow.

"We are invited. I mean this family is invited, but seems like no one can go except us. So, will you?" I asked, pleading him with my eyes.

"For how long?" he finally asked making me sigh in relief.

"Just for a few hours and we can leave any time you want. I will also not like to be there as this is my first one outside the house." I explained smiling.

"Ok! I have an appointment for tomorrow evening. You reach the address, and I will come there from the office directly." he mumbled before taking the address from me.

"Thank you so much." I mumbled holding his hand while smiling at him.

"Just for sometime." He said shrugging before we drifted off into sleep.

"You are not feeling well, Aunty." I said for the hundredth time, but she just shook her head.

"You selected a simple saree for the party. How can I take a rest? Now, show me the others." She instructed sitting on a chair, and I followed her instructions.

"Where is Nipuna?" she asked when we finally chose an attire.

"She went, for the orphanage and will be a little late for work with a few organizers." I replied before getting ready, and she slowly made my hair against my protests.

"This is perfect. Now, just try to talk a little and not stay idle in the party. You have to do all this after a few years continuously." She instructed.

"He will be there with me right." I mumbled, trying to surpass the nerves to which she smiled before sending me away with the driver.

"You can leave." I said to him after he dropped me and waited for Tajwar.

I got there a little later than the time we both decided. After a few minutes many passers started staring at me like I am making a mistake standing there.

So, with the invitation card I walked inside the house for the party and waited for him standing at a corner.

I wish I had a phone right now so that I could call him and glanced up to see few women walking near to me.

"You are Mridula vishwanth right? You vishwanths know how to throw a party, and you must be bored with this one for standing at the corner." One woman said making me frown at her.

"No, no! I am waiting for my husband." I explained.

"Tajwar? The guy who has gone mad by the death of his love?" another woman asked and I stared at them in shock.

I was living in the same house, but didn't know about it, then how could they. On top of that, how can they call him mad?

"He is not mad." I said, frowning at her.

"We know everything. They both got kidnapped for ransom from Vishwanths but due to the bad dealing of your family, she lost her life, and he has gone mad after the way he lost his love." Another woman said, and I shook my head.

"Excuse me!" I mumbled, walking around them, but they again stopped me.

"Isn't he mad now for losing his love?" they asked and I felt the limit end with them calling him like that again and again.

"No! He happens to be in love with me and not with that girl. He has moved on, and it is better to forget the matter." I said in a stern voice even though I am shaking inside.

"Then I feel sad for that girl. She left her life for him, and he has already moved on? Well, she must be turning in her grave knowing this." One of them said in a dramatic way and they all glanced behind me.

I slowly turned around only to feel my eyes going wide seeing the person before me. The three women who approached me walked away while Tajwar had the hardest expression I have never seen on his face.

"Tajwar!" I mumbled moving near to him, but he turned and walked away.

I followed him hurriedly, and he took the car keys from the valet when he was on the verge of take it away for parking.

"Please listen to me." I said, pleading him and held his hand tightly.

"Who gave you the right to lie to them? Did I inform you that I love you? How dare you to say those words?" he asked, shouting and I felt few people staring at us.

"They were saying the wrong things." I mumbled, feeling the tears forming in my eyes.

"What bad things? That I had a past? Just forget it, Mridula." He said before getting inside his car, and before I could move around and get inside through the passenger side, he drove away.

I stared at the empty space in shock and glanced around feeling the fear of being left alone. I took a few breaths before asking the phone from the security and called home.

"He... he left Aunty. I don't know the area correctly. Can you send the driver?" I asked between hiccups.

"Someone will be there within a few minutes." she replied, and I waited thinking how everything changed.

Within a few minutes, I saw a car coming to the main entrance and saw that uncle is driving it. I rushed near to it before getting inside, but brushed my tears away.

"Are you fine?" he asked worriedly.

"Yes!" I replied in a small whisper before he started driving.

"How could he leave you like this? I need to have a word with him." He said, shaking his head, but all I did was hugging myself thinking I should explain everything before this fight gets big.

I do not care about him leaving me at present and just want to present the facts before him. When we arrived at the home, I got down and started walking inside only to see Tajwar walking outside in a rush but stopped when he saw me.

"Are you fine?" he asked in a blank tone, and I nodded before walking past him and entered the house.

Aunty saw me and dragged me to her room in the next minute before giving me a glass of water. I drank and placed it aside before looking down.

"He just reached and was about to come back to get you." she mumbled, but I just nodded before getting up and left the room after assuring her that I am fine.

"Will you listen to me?" I asked him the moment, I stepped inside the room, seeing him staring outside while standing near the window.

"What happened is happened! I shouldn't have left you there, and it will not happen again." he replied before walking towards the washroom to freshen up.

"Please! I didn't mean to say those things, but they were talking badly about you. I couldn't listen to them." I said pleading him.

"Like I say just forget about today's incident and move on." He said before walking inside the washroom, and I just stood there.

Why does he have to give me such hard treatment when this is my first mistake, but he already did so many like this? I thought to myself before deciding to follow his words.

However, after a few days, it became clear that his words are only words. He became little distant and the bond we had seemed to be no more.

He didn't change the timings to his old ones and is replying if I am asking anything and his nightmares to return a little. I tried to explain, but all he says is that this is not about me.

"Hey! What are you doing?" I heard Nipuna's voice and glanced up to see her walking near to me.

"I am arranging the plates and everything for dinner." I replied, giving her a small smile.

"I just don't know how to do all these things at all. I should have learnt them, but again mom must have decided I could do everything on my own so left me to meet the god. Now, I am going to be a mom, but still don't know all this. I will be such a bad mother." She continued to babble, and I stared at her with shock.

"Nipuna!" I slowly called her after which she stopped her babbling.

"I am sorry! I am just feeling down." She explained, and I nodded.

"Why don't you help me?" I asked, to which she immediately grinned before rushing near to me.

She was not kidding regarding not knowing all this, but at least she is not sulking anymore. However, that changed when Aahil returned and commented why she is increasing my work.

I explained to him regarding the low mood of hers when she walked away saying she is not really hungry. Surprising me, he took food for both and walked away.

Change is really constant! I thought to myself before calling Tajwar and uncle along with Aunty for dinner. We all sat down and started having our food in silence.

"Why is Dileep not coming home, even after returning to the city?" Aunty asked uncle frowning.

"How would I know? However, he got the work finished too soon making all the delegates surprised with his fast work." Uncle praised him, and I smiled feeling happy for my best friend.

"What happened?" I asked Tajwar when I saw him pacing the room while rubbing his forehead.

"Everyone's work is work, but mine is not? I have been working hard too, but no one is ready to talk about it except my problems." He said and just shook his head.

"They are more than proud of you. They worry for you each second and always ask me about you. They get worried if you are leaving for office while not feeling very well. They feel happy when you do something, which would give them hope that you will bond with them soon. They care so much that your brothers must be feeling a little jealous of you." I said before walking towards the bed, but he stopped holding my hand.

"My behavior is not because of you. I just have some issues." He repeated the words which he has been saying for a few days.

"Then share them with me. You know I don't judge." I mumbled, turning around into his hold.

"Are you still upset about me leaving you alone there?" he asked holding me.

"No!" I lied partly not knowing what else to say.

I am feeling hurt every time I think of it, but also wishing to forget it at the same time. I shook my head and glanced up to stare at his face while hugging him tightly which he returned.

After that talk, we returned to normal with him talking more than normal with me everyday. However, I am kind of pulling myself back not knowing why am I even doing that.

I escaped my thoughts before glancing at the calendar to find that day-after tomorrow is Aunty and Uncle's anniversary. I walked outside the room in the evening and saw Aahil walking near to the main door with a pissed off look.

"I have something to say." I said, stopping him and he turned around with a questioning look.

I explained him about the anniversary, and he accepted that we all have to make the party arrangements this time without getting the aunty and uncle involved.

"Are you ok?" I asked Nipuna when I saw her walking inside the kitchen with a tired face.

"Nothing! Can I help you with something?" she asked back, but I shook my head saying we will have to work after dinner and tomorrow and then told her the occasion.

During dinner, we all saw Dileep is disturbed and uncle asked him the reason while Aahil teased. However, when Aunty generally asked whether Amrin was behind his mood, he just lashed out at her before walking away.

I took the food for him after finishing mine and also after telling Aahil to start the preparations tomorrow. After telling him to apologize for Aunty, I returned to my room only to see Tajwar frowning at me when I entered.

"He shouldn't have shouted like that." He said and I shrugged, knowing no matter what, I cannot say wrong about my friend near anyone.

"What is this book?" he asked when I opened one before noting down the numbers.

"Aunty's and uncle's friends' numbers are written in this. I need to start writing down and started calling them soon as they are so many." I replied, and he nodded before sitting beside me.

"I too used to have so many friends and a few very close ones." He said making me look away from the book to hear him.

"Are you in contact with them?" I asked, and he shook his head.

"I have their details, but didn't contact for the past two and half years." He replied, sighing and I started thinking about a small surprise.

I smiled to myself and got down from the bed when he drifted off into sleep and started searching for his book in which he would write the details.

Finally, I got it but stopped when I saw a photo of him with a girl. She is really beautiful, and he has a large grin over his face.

She was the one with whom he was in love and lost her. I thought and stared at it, but immediately felt a pain in the chest with which I turned around the photo not able to look at it anymore.

After sometime I noted down the details of his really close friends and placed the book back to its place before joining him.

I too drifted off into sleep feeling sad thinking until when will we lay like strangers and not in each other's hold.

Why did I let them both involve in the arrangements? I thought, rubbing my forehead when both started fighting, but didn't end, even after reaching near me little late.

"I am going out." Dileep said and walked away hurriedly after I nodded.

However, by evening I got used to their fighting and even envied their relation. They are just so free with each other to say their opinion out loud without thinking twice.

Whereas I just think for as long as I can before saying something or that's what I have become recently. I thought everything was fine between us, but maybe it isn't, and I am just staying with my closed eyes.

I felt someone hitting my shoulder, and I glanced aside to see Dileep sitting beside me while questioning me about what happened with his eyes to which I shook my head in the negative.

"Did you inform her?" I asked, and he nodded before I asked again regarding his apology to Aunty.

He left with Nipuna saying it will be good if Aunty is in a good mood as it is their anniversary and Aahil rolled his eyes.

After they all walked away, I stayed back before calling all Tajwar's friends and invited them to the party hoping they will come after introducing myself as his wife.

I just hope everything will go well tomorrow! I thought smiling to myself brushing away all the doubts knowing well my love for him will never waver.
