Chapter 20
*Aahil Pov*
When I stared at her with folded arms, I stopped saying whatever I wanted and just gazed at her. She frowned and gestured at me to continue making me remember why I am there in the first place.
"Where was I? Yeah! I wished to be a great politician with my every breath. However, today you just may or may not have finished it." I said, and she raised her eyebrows.
"You have a doubt?" she asked in a surprised tone.
"That is not the main matter here. I should be scared and frustrated because I am going to lose my dream, and I was but for the major part of the time, I have another issue in my mind." I replied stepping near to her.
"What is that?" she asked, staring at me, but at least didn't move back.
"I know presenting in a public meeting is not a small thing and there are many things to cause damage. How are you feeling?" I asked, holding her face taking a chance of her not pushing my hands away.
"Wh...at?" she asked with shock covering her features.
"How are you feeling? Should we go to the doctor?" I asked her again, and she stared at me with a blank expression before pressing her head to my chest along with sobbing.
"Don't mind me at all. These are just hormones." she mumbled and I nodded, even though, she can't see and circled my arms around her.
"Your feet must be hurting. Let's sit and then you can continue." I said, moving a little and walked near to the bed still holding her arms.
When she sat beside me, I made her hug me, and she continued to cry while I literally tried to console her not knowing what to do any more.
"I am fine!" she mumbled moving away and rubbed her eyes.
"I thought you would never enter this house." she mumbled looking around.
"I don't know where else to meet you. If I do at the meeting, then it wouldn't have gone well with the media wanting my explanation immediately." I said shrugging.
"Do you really think I had talked against you?" She asked staring at me.
"It is not your style, but I have done enough things to deserve them." I replied shrugging.
"I didn't! So, you can go and chase your dream more." she said, moving a little away from me.
"No!" I said, shaking my head.
"What do you mean no?" she asked frowning.
"I will not go away. I will stay with you and our baby." I replied and glanced at the bag I brought with myself.
"Our?" she asked with shock covering her features again.
"Yeah! I shouldn't have doubted you. I mean you have reasons, but those are not that big to lie about it. I was closing my eyes, hoping not to get betrayed again." I explained.
"What if one of your reasons is true, and I am lying to you?" She asked raising her eyebrow.
"Still, I want to become part of its life. Someone showed me a bigger picture, and I want you to make me the baby's father." I said remembering Mridula's words.
"I don't... I mean I can't believe you. The proceedings are already going on." She said, shaking her head.
"That is not a bad thing. I have a plan though." I said making her squint her eyes at me.
"What is it?" she asked and yawned.
"Well, the way I have driven you crazy to sign them. I will drive you crazy to cancel them." I replied smiling at her.
"I really had a big day, and I want to rest." she said and moved back on the bed to lie down.
"I am not going anywhere, and you need to eat." I said to which she shook her head and drifted off into sleep.
I frowned before walking outside the room and stepped inside the kitchen to see some food placed on the table. I took it and walked back to her room before waking her up.
"I want to sleep." She said protesting me.
"You need to eat." I said, and she sighed before taking the plate from me.
"Did you have your dinner?" she asked, staring at me.
"No! I will bring myself some food." I replied, walking outside and walked inside to see her waiting for me.
"Will you not ask me what actually happened at the meeting?" she asked in the middle of eating.
"I will know about it tomorrow. For now accept that I am staying here only until you return to our home." I replied staring at her.
"The papers have already been filed." she said again, and I shook my head.
"I know! But I don't want to give up and at least that is your home until the baby is born right?" I asked her to which she looked away.
"I have got settled here, and I can't move again changing it." she replied shaking her head at me.
"Then I will stay right here with you. You shouldn't be alone at this time." I said, taking her plate away after she finished.
When I returned, I saw her moving her legs with pain. I sat near her and asked, "Shall I press them? They must have swelled."
"How do you know about all these things?" she asked frowning.
"I was bored this month and started reading some books. So, may I?" I asked again to which she took a deep breath.
"Aahil! I cannot bear these many shocks at a time. Wait at least until the storm has passed." She replied, making me frown at her.
"Storm?" I asked, not understanding her words.
"Wait for it!" she mumbled and then I heard the doors closing with a large force.
"This is not a simple thing you have done, Nipuna." I heard a barking sound and glanced up to see her father walking inside the room and stopped seeing me.
"You were saying something." Nipuna said making his sight turn towards her.
"How can you do this to my career?" he shouted and she smiled.
"I don't think anyone is saying bad things about you. I have actually increased your fame with my speech." she replied calmly.
"You retired me without my permission. You said you will say against him, but you played me." He said fuming.
"I never said that, but I said I will not miss a chance to show the people whom should they vote and whom they shouldn't." She said shrugging.
"What is he doing here? You! Get out." He said barking at me when he understood she will not back down I guess.
"He is my husband and this is my house. So, he can stay here." she said before I can say anything.
"I will not allow it." He said, shaking his head.
"It doesn't matter. He will stay here as long as I want him to, and I have the house in my name to have that power." she said, and I looked at her in surprise.
"I can humiliate him for staying at this house." He threatened, and I stared at him in shock.
Is he that desperate to want me gone from here? I thought and wished to take matters in my hands, but she never gave me a chance.
"Then I will sell everything that is under my name along with this house and donate it before buying a small house for myself. I will even give another speech that you do not want to care for me even now and deciding to return to the politics as those are more important than me." When she finished her speech. I gave her a glass of water, and she took it while he fumed and fumed but just left the room at the end.
"Wow! I never had a knight in shining armor." I said, staring at her fuming face, and she chuckled hearing my words before shaking her head.
"This is the fight between my dad and me. I did not want you to come between it." She said sighing.
"So, how about my offer of a foot massage?" I asked her smiling.
"Why are you really here?" she asked in a serious tone.
"I don't know! I want to be here I guess." I replied honestly.
"If it is about the guilt for the words, then you can leave because I do not want to even think about them." She said staring at me.
"I want to be here with you and our baby." I said shrugging.
"Fine! I have said what I want and later is in your hands. As my dad is getting pissed for you to be here, I will not throw you out and that is the only reason." she said lying back.
"Of course!" I said, hiding my smile.
"I still don't believe you to be here with no doubts about the baby." she continued.
"I know!" I said nodding.
"So, it is just in your hands to show me that you care for it to get any rights at all." she said closing her eyes.
"I know!" I repeated before pecking her cheek.
I lay beside her and placed my hand over her bump, which is pretty big from the last time I hugged her and drifted off into sleep.
"Oh god! You are really here." I heard the words and opened my eyes to see Nipuna already staring at me with a frown.
"Of course! What did you think yesterday is?" I asked, moving my hand over her stomach, making myself sure that I am really here with her.
"A dream!" she replied, still staring at me.
"You dream about me?" I asked her smirking.
"Don't get your ego another boost ok. I don't have enough room for it." She replied, rolling her eyes and moved her head to the pillow before closing her eyes.
"I woke up hearing your phone ringing continuously." she said, and I moved my other hand before taking it from the night stand and called my dad back.
"Aahil! Where are you? I have been trying to reach you from yesterday night? Do you know what happened at the meeting?" he asked and I sighed.
"I don't know the details." I replied, staring at her, and she opened her one eye which she does frequently.
"Her dad is going to retire, and she said the correct words which will never let him participate at all." He said in a happy tone.
"Fine!" I mumbled, shaking my head.
"Fine? You should be ecstatic and should start working on your new campaign. This is the time, and you shouldn't miss a second." He started his speech.
"I will do my work, but I also need to be with my wife." I said to which Nipuna coughed from beside me.
"Wife? So her change of mind is your doing?" he asked and I rolled my eyes at his views.
"No! She never wanted to do something for my career sabotage. Stop thinking about her like that, and I will not be coming to the home for a few months." I replied hanging up and turned to see her blank face.
"You rubbed your trust issues to me." She said, sighing and got up removing my hand.
"I know!" I said to which she glared at me.
"Stop saying those words. They are getting on my nerves." She complained before stepping inside the washroom to freshen up.
"Good morning, Dad." Nipuna said, walking near the dining table and threw a paper before her.
We saw a slogan of his being the great father. I stopped myself from smiling while Nipuna chuckled, saying, "Now, I believe that I can never believe a news said by these media."
"You just stepped on my dream." He said in a dejected tone.
"You have become old and you should at least think about your grandchild and how to make it up to me by being there for the child." She said shrugging to which he didn't say anything and started having his food.
"I will come for lunch." I said getting up.
"Of course! Who doesn't want free food?" Her Dad commented making her frown.
"I know your office is far away. You can come in the evening if you are serious about staying here, or you can return home and I will not mind." She said shrugging.
"Take care." I said pecking her forehead, making her still in her chair and walked away to reach the office soon and return home within few hours.
"I will not lose them again." I thought before getting inside the car and drove away.
