Chapter 05: Farewell

June, 29, 1891

Beomgyu's POV

It is already three, meaning its self studying time, and I have to read another book about strategies. Once again. But, this time it's a different one. The author entitled it: "Strategic Thinking for Rulers". Once again, my Dad gave it to me with ten more of these things, plus the things I have to sign.

Being a Prince sure is troublesome. Sometimes, I wonder, what if I wasn't a Prince. Would, things be different?

'Maybe it would. Or it will.' I thought.

While, thinking that, I quickly looked near the window that has my desk, just in front of it. My eyes quickly darted to a book, that I've been reading for a while.

Without thinking, I quickly stood up from my laying position, on my Bed. I walked towards the desk, not really forcing myself, because if I did that, I might not, handle it anymore.

Soon, after. I reached my desk and took the book; it was a book about the Kingdom of Roselia. It was entitled: "The Flower & Farm Culture". It's a very helpful book! It even has the address of the Kingdom's Castle. It has Its history, their previous royal family, and their current one.

Their previous one was ruled by Son Chaeyoung, and Shin Namjoon. They had a Son named, Shin Yoongi, after twenty years, the King, Suddenly fell Ill, just like me, the book said, that the King was perfectly fine, but then he suddenly collapsed, thankfully he survived, but he already gave the Throne to the Current King of the Kingdom.

This is King Shin Yoongi, with his Wife, Queen Im Nayeon. They have two Daughters, as was said here. But, I only saw one name. Shin Ryujin, she was born a Month and four Days after I was. And by the looks at it, she's the older one. The book also said that the Princess Ryujin's Attitude is different from other Princesses.

After I, read that page of her, I don't have any clue about her sister. Although I want to know more about their Kingdom.

While, I was thinking, I suddenly heard a knock, me being the Prince that I am, asked who the person is, when the anonymous person replied. I was shocked, I quickly went over my Bed, and lay down, and started, fixing myself, before letting him in.

"Come in!" I said, and fixed myself, and noticed that I was still holding the book.

"So... What took you so long, to let me come in?" The intruder asked, well, more like my brother.

"Nothing, I was just too fixed in reading this book, about the Kingdom of Roselia, it's so cool, and sadly it was published before the second princess was even born. It has all the knowledge you need to know about the Kingdom, and their Rulers. Their first Princess is actually the same age as me, but a month younger, and four days." I said, and sighed, while looking at the window.

"I really want to meet them, they seem like worthy friends." I said, and looked at my Brother.

"There you go, again, making everybody your best friend." He said, while face palming.

"Hey! Aren't you glad that you have a brother like me, that's a social butterfly?" I asked him.

"Yes? No? Maybe? I don't know. But, let's cut through the chase." He said, and got serious.

I wonder, if something bad happened. Just looking at him, and him having his serious face on. This doesn't look too good.

"Is there something, wrong?" I asked, him, and tilted my head to the side.

"Nope." He said, popping out the 'p' sound.

"Then, why the sudden seriousness?" I asked him.

"Because..." He started, and left me hanging.

"Because? Of what?" I asked him.

"Because, I'm here to ask you how you've been doing this past few months." He said, while smiling.

"Oh, wow! And I thought, I was the bigger joker out of the both of us." I said, while smirking.

He just laughed at my statement. But, I can sense something still seems off.

"So, why are you here? Really I mean it. You're currently disturbing my reading time." I asked him, even though; I'm expecting an answer like the other one.

"And just like what I said, earlier, that's the reason why I came here." He said.

"Okay, if that's the reason why you're here. Well, I'm doing fine, but I'm still getting treated, with so many medications. For, different kinds of diseases." I said, to him.

"How about you?" I asked him in return.

"Oh, I'm doing well. Actually better." He said, and that made me super curious.

"What do you mean?" I asked him, while tilting my head to the side.

"Well, ever since you had fallen ill. I had nobody to talk to, or played with. And before you even ask, no, I cannot play with our baby brother, Mom and Dad are currently in a quarrel." He said, laughing, and the last statement made me imagine, what they look like now, and made me laugh as well.

"I know, it's funny, but Mom wouldn't forgive him no matter what he did. But, I guess you can say that Mom sensed that I was do very lonely and told me to do the 'Pen Pal' thing. Back then, I was always, in my Study room. But then, a letter just went in my Study room, saying that it was addressed here, but it wasn't named for anybody. But, it had a stamp, from the royal family of Alynthi." He said, and catched his breath for a while.

"And then, I did the same thing, but this time I entered their address. And replied, after that, we continued to talk, and I never felt lonely ever since then." He said, and smiled.

"Wow, that kind of sounds fun! I want to try it. Can you please explain it to me, how to do it?" I asked him.

"Yeah sure." He said, and started explaining to me how to do it.

After he explained, the 'Pen Pal Mechanism'. It kind of seems so difficult, but for me. Anything will do, just to keep me sane.

"Well, I guess, I can do that, right?" I asked him, and he just nodded.

We continued to talk like that, for a few more minutes, before; he told me something that shocked me.

"Beomgyu... I'm leaving..."

Wait- What, did he just say?! He's leaving?!

That took me, by shock. Why was he leaving? Isn't he the one who's going to get the Throne? He should stay here!

"What do you mean, you're leaving?!" I asked, well shouted.

"Dad, said, it would be better, if I go and travel to know the other kingdoms more... so, in the future, I'll know what to do with them, and not to do, with them..." He said, while looking down.

"So, you're leaving me? With all the boring kingdom works? And you're just going to travel kingdom to kingdom?!" I said.

I was literally upset, but, I was trying to suppress it. Because, my personality, Isn't like that. So, I tried to make it, the mood lighter. But, he literally, saw through me.

"Beomgyu.... I know you're upset, with this set up, but, there's literally nothing you can do..." He said, while looking me in the eye.

"What, do you mean? Me? Upset? Me, And Upset, doesn't go hand in hand. In the same sentence, you know?" I said, and tried to laugh it off, but failed, as I did that, tears are starting to fall.

I heard him, sigh. After, that I heard footsteps, I looked up and saw him. Standing right beside me, he quickly took a sit, next to me.

"You know, you don't have to always be strong... Sometimes, you need to let out, all the frustrations in life, so you'll be able to continue, to live on, the life you want to live." He said, while comforting me.

I just cried, there, I was like a child bawling it's eyes out, because it lost its favorite candy or toy.

"How, can they do that to you?!" I asked him, while he just shrugged.

"I don't even know..." He said, still comforting me.

Then, it hit me. If, they can send their First son, just like that, how about me? I'm just a Second Prince?! What will happen to me?!

"Hey, what are you thinking about?" He asked, I quickly looked at him, he looked worried.

"If, that happens to you, and you're the First Prince, of this Kingdom. Well, How about me? I'm just the Second Prince! I can't have them, make me go traveling for Months, or maybe even Years!?" I said, while trying to think of a way, to avoid that situation.

"Hey, I assure you, that won't happen, your currently sick, so, they'll risk, their Second son, who currently has a weak immune system." He said, while smiling.

"Now, enough of that talk, it's getting a bit on the negative side. How about we talk about another topic?" He asked.

"Yeah, sure, why not?" I said, answering his question.

"Ah! By the way, you have to Promise me, that you'll be doing the Pen Pal, thing. So you won't be alone." He said.

"Hmm, you said, I can enter any address, right?" I asked him.

"Yep, why?" He asked.

"Nothing... I'm just thinking of an address, for my Pen Pal." I said.

We continued to talk, about our lives until the last minute that we have.

It's been a few hours, already, and it's almost dinner time. So, I'm guessing, my brother would have to leave me, sooner or later.

"It's getting kind of late, I better go. Before, Mom and Dad, they send the whole Calvary or the army just to look for me." He said, and laughed.

"Okay." I said, and thought of sending a letter to my Favorite Kingdom, the Kingdom that always gets my attention, the Kingdom of Roselia.

"Oh, and By the way, here, read this later. Once, I'm out of your bedroom." He said, and handed me a letter.

"Umm, okay?" I said, in a uncertain voice and got the letter, from him.

He quickly went towards the door, and opened it. But, before leaving he said, something.

"Farewell, my Little Brother...."

???'s POV

After, I got out my Little brother's bedroom; I was greeted, by a guy who seems, to be older than me...

He had Blue Hair, and looks like, to be a swordsman.

"Who are you? And what are you doing standing outside Beomgyu's Bedroom?" I asked him, while, getting ready to attack him.

It seems, like he noticed that way, I greeted him.

"Chill, dude. I mean no harm to the Second Prince. I was sent here, by the Queen, herself. She said, to guard the Second Prince, with all my life so, yeah. That's what; I'm doing, right now." He said, while, playing with a dagger.

"As for your, first Question. The name's Choi Yeonjun, one of the most skilled swordsmen, in the Kingdom." He said, while keeping the dagger away and looked at me

We stayed in our position, for quite a while, just looking at each other, judging each other, with our looks.

"Well? Aren't you going to introduce yourself?" He asked, and smirked.

"Wait-." I said, I was clearly taken back by what he said.

"I mean, I introduced myself to you, so it's just natural, that you'll introduce yourself to me." He said, while closing his eyes.

"Oh! Um." I said, clearly nervous.

'This is literally, the weirdest, thing I've ever felt! My heart beat, in increasing so much faster, than before. I've never felt, this way before, not even to Princesses.' I thought.

"I'm Prince-." As soon, as I said that. I was cut off by him.

"I was just joking! Of course I know who you are. You're the first Prince, after all." He said, while standing up properly, and bowed to me.

I quickly sighed, knowing that my brother has a Goofy bodyguard, adding up to my problems. Until, I have thought of a perfect plan.

"You said, you were sent here by the Queen, to Guard my Little Brother right?" I asked him.

"Yeah, why?" He asked, in return.

"Since, you're going to be with my brother most of the time, then. Can you do me favor?" I asked him.

"It Depends, so spill it." He said, seriously.

"You just have to Notify, me about what's been going on here in the Kingdom and Protect my Little Brothers." I said.

"Wait, Notify you? What do you mean Notify you? Aren't you like gonna stay here for the rest of your life?" He asked.

"Well, let's just say, something happened, and I had to do something for my family..." I said, while looking down.

"Okay... I'll accept it." He said, with determination being heard from his voice.

"Really?" I asked him, clearly surprised.

"Of course, if I was in your shoes, and I'd have to leave my Little Brothers, Family, and the Kingdom I grew up in. I would do the same thing, as I'm going to be worried for my Family's and the Kingdom's safety." He said, and smiled.

"Thank you, so much!" I said, and bowed to him.

"Okay, okay. Let's not get to cocky." He said.

"You should go now; I'm pretty sure, any moment now, that guards will be looking for you." He said, and guarded Beomgyu's Bedroom door.

"Don't worry, I'll guard him good." He said, and smiled.

I quickly walked away, feeling relieved.
