Chapter Four
I heard a knock on the door and woke up.
"Juliet? Are you in there?" My grandmother whispered.
My grandmother opened the door with worried eyes, but when she saw me, she smiled.
"How are you? Are you hungry? It's nine in the morning."
"I'm fine and yes I am hungry," I said, sitting up.
"Jessica will bring up the food for you,"
"Jessica?" I groaned, "Why her and how does she know that I'm in the Prince's room?"
"How wouldn't she know and you've been gone for a couple of days. Where else would you be besides here?" My grandmother said, sitting on the bed.
"Where's Prince Adam?" I asked.
"He's meeting Princess Taylor. I heard you helped pick her out for him."
"Yeah, I did," I said, "Where are they going?"
"Hmmmmm, I think to that one meadow you were fond of when you were a child with Adam,"
"Oh," I said. I should see what they're going to do.
I heard a knock on the door. And Jessica came in with a tray of food. She smiled and set the tray down on the night stand. My grandmother smiled and then left the room leaving me alone with Jessica. Once my grandmother left, she glared at me and smiled.
"You know you're in deep trouble, right?" She asked.
"No, not really,"
"Well, I'm pretty sure you know that you broke a couple of rules. And guess what? I informed the Queen about them. Also, you might not be able to attend the ball."
"What!? Your kidding right?" I exclaimed.
She snorted, "Why would I lie about this exciting news?"
I glared at her, "You're evil, you planned all of this, didn't you?"
"I partially did, not all of it,"
"I'll find a way to get back into the ball, and you won't stop me," I declared.
"Whatever," she said, "Just eat your food."
She pushed the tray of food towards me and I ate while she watched me. She smiled.
"I heard that you guys were pretty close. Weren't you?"
"Yes, why?"
"Huh, its funny, usually when people are close that young, they usually get married. But that's not happening to you, isn't it?"
"Okay, I'm done now, you may leave,"
She left and I laid back down on the bed.
I push the food away. Why does it have to be me the one getting tortured? Argh. Hmmmm, I should see what Price Adam and Princess Taylor are up to.
I got dressed and quietly walked out the door. I make my way through the castle, to the garden. When I step outside, all I see is a huge crowd surrounding the castle, looking around for the Prince and Princess. Someone spots me and their eyes get huge.
"Hey everybody, that girl looks like Queen Julie!"
Everyone looks my way, gasps, and agrees with him. They take pictures of me. The flashing of lights everywhere. I quickly walk towards the woods where the meadow is located. Once I get to the woods, I sigh and look behind me. They won't find me now. I walk towards the meadow. As I walk, I think about the times Adam and I were just children, running around in the woods. I smile to myself. I hear the sound of Adams laughter.
"No, way!" I hear a female voice say.
"Yes, way!" Adam says and laughs.
I see them through the woods, still mounted on there horses.
"Princess Taylor, have you ever heard of the missing princess?"
"Yes, I have. Why?"
"Do you know any details about it?"
"All I know is that she's in hiding and that her mother, Queen Julie, is looking for her."
"Weird," he said looking out across the meadow.
"Also, that apparently you were close with her," she said, "Which is strange... you know who it would be right?"
"Yeah, I would know.......I think I know but.........I'm not positive....."
"Who do you think it is?"
"My childhood friend, Juliet. I've seen her mother before....she was wearing a crown but she takes it off every time she goes by Juliet."
"Hmmm, that sounds about right. The thing I don't understand is that why would she protect her from not knowing that she is princess? If she was one anyway."
Could I be the lost princess? I step forward and it makes a crunching noise. They both turn their heads toward me, but I hide behind a tree. There's a silence, I look back and I see Taylor and Adam leaning towards each other. They can't be...... I won't let this happen! I'm about to yell at them but someone does for me.
"Hey everybody, I found the Prince and Princess!" someone from the crowd called. "And there's the Queen look-a-like!"
Everyone looks at me. I look around and see that Adam is looking at me. Tears roll down my face from embarrassment and humiliation. I turn around and run back towards the castle.
