Getting Hit In The Face With A Ball Really Hurts
After lunch we finally arrived at the gate to find Christy, Andrew, Anna, Phillip, Rosie, and Matthew already waiting for us.
I felt butterflies in my stomach as I looked back at the lavish gardens of the castle to the tall, beautiful gates to the world outside that I don't even remember.
Carter and I hung out in the back and he put his arm around my shoulders as we walked out of the gates and I caught my breath. A road lay before us that led to a town down on a hill and a city that spread below it.
We continued walking and by the time we reached the city I was itching to go in and see it.
Carter led me through the small gate and I saw children playing, shops selling things, people laughing and dancing; it was amazing.
Anna and Christy turned to face us,
"Alright you all have some money right?" Anna asked, "If not then I can give you some." No one moved or said anything.
"Alright then, we have the whole day. Meet back here in the market before dark. Hope you all have fun and try to not get yourselves into trouble." At this she looked at Rosie, Matthew, Carter and I.
"Well go have fun, and don't make a big fuss about who you are either." With that Christy and Andrew walked away toward a couple of little shops.
"See you guys around." Phillip said and he and Anna walked away also.
"Well where do you guys want to go?" Matthew asked gesturing in a big circle.
"I think the girls should pick first." Carter said looking at Rosie and I.
Rosie and I looked at each other just as I heard the sweet melody,
"Music!" We said together.
I grabbed Carter's hand and led him towards the source of the sounds. We ended up in a large courtyard with a painting done on the cobblestones of a large colorful flower. Music was playing, people were dancing and singing. I knew the song, my mother used to sing it to us when we were younger. I looked at Carter,
"Well what are you waiting for?" He said with a huge smile on his face.
I smiled as he grabbed my hand and led me into the courtyard. Soon Rosie and Matthew were at our sides as we spun in circles and stomped our feet and clapped our hands. I started singing the words to the song, my voice carrying across the courtyard along with the music. I saw Carter and he was laughing at me.
"What?" I said and it seemed to make him only laugh harder.
"I can't remember the last time I've had this much fun."
"Is that why you're laughing?"
"Well you also have the most beautiful voice." He started laughing again and I rolled my eyes.

After dancing for so long, Carter and Matthew offered to bye Rosie and I something to eat. I pointed out a soft biscuit looking thing with white powder on top and red jelly oozing out of it and asked what it was.
"I have no idea, but it looks delicious." Matthew said. Then he turned to the lady behind the stand, "We'll take four please."
It was delicious! I had tasted things like this in the castle, but this was warm and gooey and fresh.
We were sitting around a small fountain when a small movement out of the corner of my eye caught my attention.
A couple of boys were kicking around a ball. I had never seen anyone playing this type of game before. I was watching as they kicked the ball back and forth, shouting things that I couldn't understand. For some reason I was mesmerized and I couldn't look away, until of course something very hard hit me in the cheek and I yelled out.
"What? What's wrong?" Carter spun around after I yelled.
"Ow!" I said through gritted teeth.
I looked in the water and saw that my cheek was turning a bright red.
A hand grabbed my shoulder and I turned around to see one of the boys who were kicking the ball come into my line of vision. He was a little bit younger than me, maybe 13 years old or so, with bright blue eyes, and bleach blonde hair. He was skinny but I could see the muscles lining his arms.
"Are you okay? I'm so, so sorry, I didn't mean to hit you."
"Oh it's-it's okay."
He smiled. "I really am sorry, my name is Luca by the way."
"It's fine, just caught me by surprise." I laughed a little. "My name is Kat."
"That's a beautiful name." Luca bent down and kissed my hand.
"Thank you." I'm sure my cheeks were flushing even more red. "What was that game you were playing?"
"Oh you mean before the ball hit you in the face?" He laughed, "It's called soccer. Do you and your friends want to play?" I turned to Rosie and Matthew who were both nodding eagerly. Carter on the other hand looked like he was about to bust out laughing.
"Sure." I said "This is Rosie, Matthew, and Carter."
Luca turned to the three other boys that were playing with him, "This is Peter, Marco, and my little brother Ashton."
"Hi." They seemed to all say at once.
Once Luca told us all the rules we started playing. It was a lot of fun.
Once we were done Ashton asked,
"I'm starving, do you all want to come back to our house for some food?"
"Oh no, we couldn't." Rosie said politely.
"Come on, it's the least we could do after hitting Kat in the face." Luca replied which made all of us laugh.
"Well I mean, if you put it that way." I said while laughing.
"This way then." Luca motioned toward a narrow road off to his left and we followed him.
