The King's Last Request

The story begins in the Kingdom of Antiqua.

A young prince at the age of sixteen is walking down the streets with a group of children walking around or ahead of him, laughing and chatting as they go. "Naz, please be mindful. It is hard for me to keep an eye on you if you keep sneaking out the window like that." A young lady with the same age as him scolds him as she too follows beside him. He only ignored her.

Naz Galanthius is his name. The first prince or the only prince and child of king Zan Galanthius the fourth. He is a modest boy, as he talks with the young children that surrounds him with a smile. The young prince is fair of skin, with unusual golden eyes and dirt brown hair. A rather dashing, handsome boy of his age. He wears a yellow shirt and a blue tunic with blue pants and black riding boots.

If an outsider were to casually look at him, they would not give him a second glance as they thought he is a mere peasant. The only thing that screams out his status is the rapier strapped to his waist.

As he walked through the streets of the capital of Ceol, more and more children joined in on their travel. "May I ask where we are going Naz?" The prince only turned around and starts to walk backwards as he grins at her. He then stops and crouched down the children level. The children were giggling the whole time he talks to them.

The female guard was about to join her prince to listen but was too late as Naz stood up again. She noticed the mischievous smile on his face and the fact that the kids is still giggling. That only means trouble for her but also brings much joy to them. "We are going... somewhere. Ash, just relax and enjoy our time exploring outside!"

Ash squinted her eyes at him but let it slide. A few moments later, Ash felt something tugging on the back of her coat. She spun and looked down to see a small girl. She bent down to her level. "Yes? What do you need miss?" She ask but the girl giggled. Ash got confused until she heard. "SPLIT!" Ash spun back around to see Naz gone and the children running, giggling and laughing.

The little girl took Ash's hand and pulled her down again. "Big brother told me to give you this!" She pulled out a rose. "And said meet you back at the castle at sundown!" The girl put the rose in Ash's hand before running off.

Ash grew irritated and growled. "That troublesome boy! I'll give him a piece of my mind when he gets back." She balled her fists before letting out a defeated sigh and hanging head down. She raised the rose in her hand and took a whiff. "At least this rose smells nice..." She says before walking back to the castle.

Meanwhile...

The escaped young prince ran with the children before squeezing himself through an alleyway and coming out to an amazing garden.

Naz walks to the center of the garden onto a small porch where a statue stands tall and proud in its glory. The garden begins to fill with children and they starts to dance around with each other singing in unison.

Naz with a big smile of joy walks over to them and he picks a young girl probably around the age of twelve before bowing in front of her, offering his hand. The girl giggled and curtsied before taking his hand.

Naz and the girl twirled before engaging in a dance. Like a real prince and princess, they danced around each other until another girl's scream pierced the winds. All of them froze and Naz release the girl in his hands before sprinting towards the direction of the scream.

He ran past a tall hedge to find a man clad in black with a dagger raised, poised to strike down a cowering girl. Naz pulls his rapier out of it's scabbard and lunged barely deflecting the blade from harming the child.

Naz smacked the flat-side of his rapier on the attacker, pushing him away and stood in front of the girl. "How dare you try to harm a kid! Have you no heart!" The attacker cursed under his breath before looking at Naz with a sly grin.

"Oh look at the time! I am truly sorry prince Naz... I must go!" The man straightened himself and sheaths his blade. "But please do remember, what I did is nothing personal." And suddenly the man flicks a throwing knife, catching the prince off-guard and pierced his shoulder. Naz fell onto his back and the man took off.

Naz grunted as he push himself upwards. "Big brother! Oh no! I'm so sorry!" The little girl rushed to his side with tears running down her face. Naz just chuckled and patted the girls head, ignoring the pain. He then took a deep breath and put his hand on the handle of the knife. He held his breath and then pulled it out in one quick movement. He flinched and the girl winced as the bloody blade came out.

Naz composed himself and asked. "Was there anybody with him?" The girl's eyes went wide as he asked the question before taking off in front of him. "Brother! Hurry! The king is hurt!" He then also hurried after the girl in a panic after he heard the word 'king'.

As he round the corner of bushes, he laid his eyes on the fallen figure on his father with a pool of blood under him. "Father!" He ran and slid onto his knees next to his father and the girl.

There is a dagger in his chest and blood everywhere. Naz in his panicked state instantly pulled out the dagger and chucked it away before putting both of his hands on the bloody wound.

The king, Zan Galanthius, coughed a few times before moving his hand and gripping his son's. "Naz... my time..." He spoke in between breaths and then coughs again before continuing. "... Has come. Please... take care... *coughs* of your... mother... and protect our... people." Zan smiled and raised his hand, brushing Naz's cheek.

The king then wheeze for air as Naz and the girl's tears fell onto his body. "Please take... care of our kingdom... and not... pursue to... avenge my death."

"No! You are going to live! And meet mother again! And dance with the villagers! Play music with me and get old! Just don't die dammit!" Naz begged to his father in his sobs but he knew deep down his father is not going to make it.

The dying king smiled again. "Remember... the customs I told you?" Naz nods and saw the smile on his father's face and heard his father release his final breath. "May you rest in peace and I shall carry our duties on my shoulders."

Naz Galanthius picked up his father body in his arms and starts to walk. His knees felt like buckling but still he pressed on. He tried to hide his emotions but failed as his expression is stoic but his eyes is leaking with his tears.

He came out of the bushes and saw the children kneeling and crying. As Naz walk pass them, they began to follow behind him in three rows with their heads low. All of them marched with him in the lead and out the gardens.

As they pass the exit, a bell tower can be seen. A girl, the same one he danced with, broke out of the line and rang the bell from inside before slowly coming back into the line.

In castle Galanthius...

A beautiful woman is talking with a maid in the kitchen. The queen, Àlainn Galanthius, a beautiful woman with an hourglass figure wearing a grand golden dress with brown hair, pale skin and amazing blue eyes is talking with the head maid about supper.

With a cup of tea in her hands, they talked and soon got into gossiping before they both heard the sounds of bells. First, there were one, then two, then three and so on. The cup in her hands smashed to the ground and gasps can be heard from all the maids in the kitchen.

Tears started to well in her eyes and she ran, forgetting her formalities, barging through doors and her crown falling from her hair. She soon reached the courtyard doors to the main gate and opened it just in time to see her son carrying her husband and further crushing her heart as Àlainn fell to her knees and started to sob with her face buried in her hands.

Àlainn saw her son with her husband in hand, the children following behind him then the citizens of Ceol and then the guards, all with their heads low, approach her. Naz laid the dead king in front of her and kneel. She got close to the lifeless body of the former king and husband before turning around.

Then moments later, Naz himself was going to collapse to the ground as blood can be seen staining his body but was caught by his friend, Ash.
